Reflection Template For Gruul Broodscale Combo

For each loss, name one primary cause and one secondary cause. For each win, name the card, package, or tactical policy that most contributed to the win. Classify each result as a card quantity problem, card selection problem, mana problem, tempo problem, matchup problem, sideboard problem, pilot sequencing problem, or closing-power problem. Report mana performance, sideboard impact, stranded cards, overperforming cards, underperforming cards, and whether the Deck Strategy or Tactical Policy guidance was followed.

  • Deciding factor: Record whether the game was won or lost by Basking Broodscale combo execution, Urza's Saga pressure, Glaring Fleshraker triggers, Writhing Chrysalis stabilization, Emrakul, the Promised End, or failure to assemble mana and time.

  • Mulligans: Note whether each kept hand had green access for Ancient Stirrings, Malevolent Rumble, Basking Broodscale, or Writhing Chrysalis, and flag keeps that relied on Eldrazi Temple or Urza's Saga without a castable early plan.

  • Mana: Track games where Cavern of Souls, Eldrazi Temple, Urza's Saga, or colorless-heavy draws blocked green/red actions, and track games where Grove of the Burnwillows, Stomping Ground, Commercial District, fetchlands, or Springleaf Drum fixed the curve.

  • Velocity: Count whether Ancient Stirrings and Malevolent Rumble found real progress: Basking Broodscale, Blade of the Bloodchief, Urza's Saga, Glaring Fleshraker, Writhing Chrysalis, interaction, or lands that unlocked the next turn.

  • Engine: Record whether Basking Broodscale plus Blade of the Bloodchief was assembled, disrupted, too slow, or unnecessary because Urza's Saga, Spawn tokens, or large threats already controlled the game.

  • Removal: Check whether Unholy Heat, Boseiju, Who Endures, Haywire Mite, Nature's Claim, Force of Vigor, Thief of Existence, and Warping Wail answered decisive permanents or spells rather than low-impact targets. Card text check required for Thief of Existence before judging missed lines.

  • Sideboard: Review whether Damping Sphere, Pithing Needle, Grafdigger's Cage, Soul-Guide Lantern, Gemstone Caverns, extra Emrakul, the Promised End, Sire of Seven Deaths, extra Unholy Heat, and Warping Wail matched revealed opponent plans.

  • Closing: Identify games where the deck stabilized but failed to close, then note whether the missing closer was Urza's Saga, Glaring Fleshraker, Writhing Chrysalis, Emrakul, the Promised End, or Sire of Seven Deaths.

  • Role: Mark whether the pilot correctly acted as combo, midrange, prison-adjacent hate deck, or control pressure deck after public information appeared.

  • Mistakes: Flag any pass, attack, block, selection, target, or mana payment where legal actions showed a safer line with visible information.

  • Stranded cards: List cards stuck in hand for mana, timing, missing targets, or low matchup relevance, especially Emrakul, the Promised End, Kozilek's Command, Blade of the Bloodchief, Vexing Bauble, and sideboard hate.

  • Overperformers and underperformers: Separate cards that won through interaction from cards that only looked powerful on paper, and record the board state that made each evaluation true.
