Reflection Template For Fire Lord Azula

For each loss, name one primary cause and one secondary cause. For each win, name the card, package, or tactical policy that most contributed to the win. Classify each result as a card quantity problem, card selection problem, mana problem, tempo problem, matchup problem, sideboard problem, pilot sequencing problem, or closing-power problem. Report mana performance, sideboard impact, stranded cards, overperforming cards, underperforming cards, and whether the Deck Strategy or Tactical Policy guidance was followed.

  • Deciding factor: identify the exact turn or stack exchange that decided the game. Did Fire Lord Azula, Azula, Cunning Usurper, Firebender Ascension, Storm-Kiln Artist, Mizzix's Mastery, Invoke Calamity, Magma Opus, Expansion // Explosion, or Electrodominance convert into a win, or did the game hinge on missed interaction, mana failure, or board pressure?
  • Mulligans: record whether the opener had two to four functional mana sources, at least one blue or red source, and a real early play such as Sol Ring, Arcane Signet, Dimir Signet, Izzet Signet, Rakdos Signet, Talisman of Dominance, Fellwar Stone, Wayfarer's Bauble, Goblin Electromancer, Nightscape Familiar, or Stormcatch Mentor. Note any keep that stranded spells by color or by tapped-land tempo.
  • Mana: mark each game where Dimir Aqueduct, Izzet Boilerworks, Rakdos Carnarium, tapped tri-lands, or filter lands delayed a key turn. Check whether Turnabout, Big Score, Unexpected Windfall, Frantic Search, Prismari Command, or treasure from Storm-Kiln Artist actually fixed the commitment turn.
  • Velocity: track whether rummage and draw spells improved the hand or discarded needed resources. Review Demand Answers, Thrill of Possibility, Electric Revelation, Big Score, Unexpected Windfall, Reckless Ransacking, Discovery // Dispersal, and Frantic Search for wrong-card discards, missed land drops, or graveyard setup that never paid off.
  • Engines: record whether Third Path Iconoclast, Storm-Kiln Artist, Firebender Ascension, Case of the Ransacked Lab, Goblin Electromancer, Nightscape Familiar, Stormcatch Mentor, and Cormela, Glamour Thief generated value before dying. Note whether casting them earlier would have mattered, or whether holding them for immediate follow-up was correct.
  • Removal: check whether Chain Reaction, Hostile Takeover, Chaos Warp, Crosis's Charm, Maestros Charm, Prismari Command, Sheoldred's Edict, Liliana's Triumph, Leadership Vacuum, and Szat's Will answered the actual threat. Flag games where interaction was spent on a minor permanent while a commander, lethal attacker, lock piece, or combo payoff remained visible.
  • Closing: verify the final damage or combo plan was legal from visible actions. Review Fists of Flame, Unleash Fury, Blazing Crescendo, Sudden Breakthrough, Ancestors' Aid, Expedite, Haste Magic, Mizzix's Mastery, Torrential Gearhulk, Magma Opus, Expansion // Explosion, and Electrodominance for overcommitting into removal, missing targets, or failing to preserve priority protection.
  • Role: ask whether the deck correctly became control, tempo, combo, or defensive stabilizer after the opponent's first meaningful reveal. Note any game where the pilot chased a spell-chain line while visible creature pressure required blockers or removal.
  • Sideboard: confirm that no sideboard change was submitted because the registered sideboard count is 0. If the event allowed a different Commander sideboard, record that separately and do not treat it as legal for this registered list.
  • Mistakes: list every pass with open Negate, Spell Pierce, Izzet Charm, Expansion // Explosion, Crosis's Charm, or Maestros Charm while an opposing high-impact spell or ability was visible. Also list every main-phase tap-out that prevented a protected commitment turn.
  • Stranded cards: identify cards stuck in hand for two or more turns and why. Separate color failure, mana quantity failure, target absence, timing restriction, commander tax, graveyard dependency, and Card text check required uncertainty.
  • Overperformers and underperformers: name the cards that changed outcomes, not just cards that looked efficient. Compare engine cards, interaction, burst-combat cards, and big spell payoffs by actual game impact.
