Reflection Template For Mono-Red Aggro

For each loss, name one primary cause and one secondary cause. For each win, name the card, package, or tactical policy that most contributed to the win. Classify each result as a card quantity problem, card selection problem, mana problem, tempo problem, matchup problem, sideboard problem, pilot sequencing problem, or closing-power problem. Report mana performance, sideboard impact, stranded cards, overperforming cards, underperforming cards, and whether the Deck Strategy or Tactical Policy guidance was followed.

  • Deciding factor: Identify whether the game was decided by early damage, mana stumble, removal tempo, a stalled board, graveyard interaction, sideboard card impact, or failure to close after the opponent reached low life.

  • Mulligans: Record whether opening hands had a turn-one or turn-two play from Hired Claw, Emberheart Challenger, Burnout Bashtronaut, Hexing Squelcher, Burst Lightning, Shock, or Lightning Strike, and whether any keep was too slow because it leaned on Sunspine Lynx, Nova Hellkite, Witchstalker Frenzy, or utility lands.

  • Mana: Check whether Mountain count plus Rockface Village, Soulstone Sanctuary, and Fire Nation Palace produced untapped red mana on the turns when the deck needed to cast one- and two-mana spells; card text check required before blaming or trusting the nonbasic lands.

  • Velocity: Measure whether each early turn converted mana into damage, board presence, or blocker removal. Flag turns where legal actions spent mana without advancing a clock or protecting a future lethal line.

  • Engines and utility: Track whether Rockface Village, Soulstone Sanctuary, Fire Nation Palace, Hired Claw, Burnout Bashtronaut, Hexing Squelcher, Sunspine Lynx, Nova Hellkite, The Legend of Roku, Magebane Lizard, Soul-Guide Lantern, and Ghost Vacuum created real value only after card text was confirmed by the rules engine.

  • Removal: Review each Burst Lightning, Shock, Lightning Strike, Witchstalker Frenzy, and Abrade use for target quality. Ask whether it cleared a blocker, stopped lethal pressure, answered an engine, or should have been preserved as reach.

  • Sideboard: Confirm whether Abrade had visible artifact targets, Soul-Guide Lantern or Ghost Vacuum had public graveyard pressure to answer, Magebane Lizard matched the opponent's spell pattern after text check, and The Legend of Roku performed a specific pressure or resilience role after text check.

  • Closing: Count missed lethal or near-lethal lines involving attacks plus Burst Lightning, Shock, Lightning Strike, Sunspine Lynx, Nova Hellkite, or post-combat legal burn. Flag games where the pilot controlled the board after the opponent was already within burn range.

  • Role: Ask whether Mono-Red Aggro correctly stayed aggressive against slow decks and correctly defended life total against faster creature or burn mirrors. Mark any game where the pilot spent too many cards on marginal creatures or ignored a visible lethal crackback.

  • Mistakes: Note every pass with unused mana and legal damage, every attack that lost a needed blocker under a short clock, every removal spell pointed at a low-impact permanent, and every graveyard-hate activation made without a public reason.

  • Stranded cards: Track copies of Nova Hellkite, Witchstalker Frenzy, Sunspine Lynx, Abrade, Soul-Guide Lantern, Ghost Vacuum, Magebane Lizard, and The Legend of Roku that stayed in hand because mana, targets, timing, or card text did not line up.

  • Overperformers and underperformers: Compare Hired Claw, Emberheart Challenger, Burnout Bashtronaut, Hexing Squelcher, Sunspine Lynx, Nova Hellkite, Burst Lightning, Shock, Lightning Strike, and Witchstalker Frenzy by damage dealt, blockers removed, turns accelerated, and games stranded.
