Reflection Template For Niv to Light

For each loss, name one primary cause and one secondary cause. For each win, name the card, package, or tactical policy that most contributed to the win. Classify each result as a card quantity problem, card selection problem, mana problem, tempo problem, matchup problem, sideboard problem, pilot sequencing problem, or closing-power problem. Report mana performance, sideboard impact, stranded cards, overperforming cards, underperforming cards, and whether the Deck Strategy or Tactical Policy guidance was followed.

  • Deciding factor: Record whether the match was decided by mana development, early survival, Bring to Light access, Niv-Mizzet Reborn card flow, Up the Beanstalk velocity, sideboard hate, or failure to close after stabilizing.

  • Mulligans: Note whether kept hands had castable early plays through visible lands, Fabled Passage, Sylvan Caryatid, Ancient Cornucopia, and shock/triome sequencing, and flag any keep that lacked a path to Lightning Helix, Abrupt Decay, Vanishing Verse, or Leyline Binding before pressure mattered.

  • Mana: Track every game where colors or tapped lands stranded Bring to Light, Omnath, Locus of Creation, Niv-Mizzet Reborn, Niv-Mizzet, Supreme, Deafening Clarion, Kolaghan's Command, or Culling Ritual, and record which land or fixer would have changed the line.

  • Velocity: Check whether Up the Beanstalk, Bring to Light, Niv-Mizzet Reborn, Niv-Mizzet, Supreme, Sphinx's Revelation, and Yorion, Sky Nomad generated enough cards before the opponent's clock forced purely defensive turns.

  • Engine timing: Identify whether Up the Beanstalk was cast early enough to matter, whether Ancient Cornucopia or Sylvan Caryatid enabled double-spell turns, and whether Overlord of the Hauntwoods advanced the plan or consumed a turn without stabilizing.

  • Removal use: Review whether Lightning Helix, Abrupt Decay, Vanishing Verse, Leyline Binding, Maelstrom Pulse, Deafening Clarion, Culling Ritual, Kolaghan's Command, Kaervek, the Spiteful, Tolsimir, Friend to Wolves, Erode, or Ultima answered the threat that actually mattered. Card text check required for Erode and Ultima before drawing firm conclusions about missed lines.

  • Sideboard impact: Record whether Dovin's Veto, Rest in Peace, Unmoored Ego, Surrak Dragonclaw, Sphinx's Revelation, Kaervek, the Spiteful, Tolsimir, Friend to Wolves, Erode, Yorion, Sky Nomad, and sideboard Ultima matched the opponent's revealed plan or sat stranded.

  • Closing: Note whether stabilized games were converted by Niv-Mizzet Reborn, Niv-Mizzet, Supreme, Omnath, Locus of Creation, Overlord of the Hauntwoods, Professor Dellian Fel, Beza, the Bounding Spring, Yorion, Sky Nomad, Surrak Dragonclaw, or repeated Bring to Light pressure.

  • Role: Mark each game where the pilot acted as control, tap-out midrange, toolbox answer deck, or threat-dense value deck, and record whether the chosen role matched visible pressure, open mana, and known opponent resources.

  • Mistakes: Flag any action where the pilot used the cheapest legal spell instead of the correct answer, fetched a color that blocked the next two turns, passed with a relevant answer available, overcommitted into a visible sweeper risk, or delayed a stabilizer while life total was under pressure.

  • Stranded cards: Track repeated stranded copies of Bring to Light, Leyline Binding, Lightning Helix, Vanishing Verse, Abrupt Decay, Up the Beanstalk, Omnath, Locus of Creation, Niv-Mizzet Reborn, Professor Dellian Fel, Vibrant Outburst, Valki, God of Lies, and sideboard cards.

  • Overperformers and underperformers: Compare card mentions in wins and losses, especially Up the Beanstalk, Ancient Cornucopia, Bring to Light, Leyline Binding, Lightning Helix, Omnath, Locus of Creation, Beza, the Bounding Spring, Professor Dellian Fel, and Niv-Mizzet Reborn.
