Reflection Template For Ajani, Nacatl Pariah
For each loss, name one primary cause and one secondary cause. For each win, name the card, package, or tactical policy that most contributed to the win. Classify each result as a card quantity problem, card selection problem, mana problem, tempo problem, matchup problem, sideboard problem, pilot sequencing problem, or closing-power problem. Report mana performance, sideboard impact, stranded cards, overperforming cards, underperforming cards, and whether the Deck Strategy or Tactical Policy guidance was followed.
-
Deciding factor: Record whether the game was decided by early creature pressure, Ajani, Nacatl Pariah pressure, sacrifice reach, burn reach, commander tax, mana stumble, or a single unanswered permanent. Name the exact cards that mattered, especially Goblin Bombardment, Weaponize the Monsters, Barrage of Expendables, Warleader's Call, Fable of the Mirror-Breaker, Laelia, the Blade Reforged, or Phlage, Titan of Fire's Fury.
-
Mulligans: Ask whether the opening hand had both colors, a turn-one or turn-two play, and either interaction or an engine. Flag keeps that relied on Mox Amber without a legendary creature, utility lands without colored sources, or reactive hands with no early board.
-
Mana: Track whether red or white was missing at the moment it mattered. Note painful sequencing from Battlefield Forge, Mana Confluence, Sunbaked Canyon, Thran Portal, or fetch-shock lines, and record whether Arena of Glory, Castle Embereth, Den of the Bugbear, Sokenzan, Crucible of Defiance, Shatterskull Smashing, Sundering Eruption, Pinnacle Monk, or Witch Enchanter was better as a spell, land, or activation.
-
Velocity: Record whether the deck ran away of cards before lethal. Identify whether Seasoned Pyromancer, Fable of the Mirror-Breaker, Laelia, the Blade Reforged, Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer, Rahilda, Wanted Cutthroat, Sunbaked Canyon, graveyard-selection threat, or Phlage, Titan of Fire's Fury supplied enough follow-up material.
-
Engines: Ask whether sacrifice outlets were present before expendable creatures died. Note if Goblin Bombardment, Weaponize the Monsters, Barrage of Expendables, Broadside Bombardiers, Collateral Damage, Gut, True Soul Zealot, Fanatical Firebrand, or Squee, Dubious Monarch converted material into damage or sat stranded.
-
Removal: Record every removal spell that was pointed at a creature, planeswalker, battle, artifact, enchantment, or opponent. Check whether Lightning Bolt, Chain Lightning, Sear, Flame Slash, Torch the Tower, Reckless Rage, Chained to the Rocks, Static Prison, Patriar's Humiliation, Swords to Plowshares, Unwanted Remake, Dusk Rose Reliquary, Thraben Charm, Lithomantic Barrage, Erode, or Fury answered the highest-impact visible threat.
-
Sideboard: Confirm no sideboard action was submitted because the registered sideboard is empty. If the match felt sideboard-dependent, record the role that was missing rather than inventing a sideboard card.
-
Closing: Ask whether burn went upstairs too early or too late. Record missed lethal involving Castle Embereth, Warleader's Call, Arabella, Abandoned Doll, Den of the Bugbear, Sokenzan, Crucible of Defiance, Broadside Bombardiers, Goblin Bombardment, Weaponize the Monsters, Barrage of Expendables, Lightning Bolt, Chain Lightning, Sear, Collateral Damage, Shatterskull Smashing, or Ajani, Nacatl Pariah.
-
Role: Identify when the pilot should have been beatdown, control, or combo-reach. Flag games where the deck traded off creatures while holding sacrifice payoffs, held removal while dying to visible pressure, or attacked into bad combat when a burn finish was more realistic.
-
Mistakes: Capture legal-action mistakes, not imagined lines. Note missed land drops, unspent mana, wrong target choice, premature Mana Tithe hold, unsafe all-in commitment, incorrect graveyard exile cost, or failing to use a sacrifice outlet before removal resolved.
-
Stranded cards: List cards stuck in hand or unused on board at game end and why. Pay special attention to Mana Tithe, Mox Amber, Chainsaw, Stormforged Armor, Barbed Batterfist, Molten Impact, Cinder Strike, Invasion of Tarkir, Cloud, Midgar Mercenary, Ruby Collector, Masked Meower, Spider-Punk, Hexing Squelcher, and Stadium Headliner when action labels or card text uncertainty affected decisions.
-
Overperformers and underperformers: Name exact cards that repeatedly created wins or failed to matter. Separate card-performance problems from pilot timing, matchup texture, and mana constraints.
