Deck Name And Archetype

Gremlin Tamer - Pauper is a Pauper Commander deck with a validated 100-card singleton main deck and a validated 10-card Veles policy sideboard. The active validation contract reports the list as passing for pauper-commander: 100 main cards, singleton outside basic lands, Gremlin Tamer in the command zone, and sideboard size exactly 10. Do not apply 60-card constructed sizing, four-copy limits, or non-commander sideboard assumptions when piloting this guide.

The deck is a rogue hybrid aura-combo and enchantment-density engine rather than a stock Pauper Commander shell. The strategic center is Gremlin Tamer plus cheap enchantments, protective auras, enchantment-based removal, card-flow enchantments, and small lifegain or utility creatures. The list should be treated as combo because many decisions ask whether to commit an enchanted threat, snowball enchantment count, or assemble a protected commander-based pressure line; it should also be treated as tempo-control when the board requires Frogify, Witness Protection, Planar Disruption, Reprobation, Trapped in the Screen, Imprisoned in the Moon, Banishing Light, Journey to Nowhere, Unable to Scream, Chains of Custody, Seal of Removal, Seal of Cleansing, Thraben Charm, Focus Fire, or Hoodwink before advancing the engine.

The registered colors are Azorius, with white as the heavier permanent base and blue as selection, tempo, and evasion support. Mana concerns are real because the deck contains many lands that enter tapped or cycle, bounce-land sequencing through Azorius Chancery, and a mix of early white interaction with blue setup cards such as Omen of the Sea, The Modern Age // Vector Glider, Spreading Seas, Betrayal, Security Bypass, Ophidian Eye, Cartouche of Knowledge, and Lórien Revealed. Runtime decisions must check visible legal mana sources before assuming double-spell turns, commander recasts, aura plus protection turns, or holding up blue sideboard interaction.

The registered sideboard is exactly Hydroblast, Blue Elemental Blast, Dispel, Negate, Dust to Dust, Prismatic Strands, Standard Bearer, Relic of Progenitus, Revoke Existence, and Disenchant. These cards define narrow post-board pivots rather than a second deck: red interaction, stack protection, artifact/enchantment removal, graveyard control, combat prevention, and target redirection. Exact executable sideboard plans appear only in Sideboard Map; elsewhere, use role language and never side in cards outside that registered sideboard.

Opponent information status is unknown at guide start unless Veles supplies matchup labels, revealed cards, public zones, or previous-game logs. The pilot must not infer hidden cards from archetype stereotypes alone and must prefix any opponent-only card names as metagame examples outside policy card lists. Runtime play should prioritize legal actions, visible board state, public information, known revealed information, commander tax, current stack objects, and rules-engine prompts over speculative matchup assumptions.

Legality and role concerns should remain explicit during play. This guide may describe tactical intentions, but Forge/Veles determines whether Gremlin Tamer can be cast, whether an Aura can legally target, whether a transformed or double-faced permanent is available, whether protection or prevention applies, and whether a removal enchantment still has a legal target. If a cards exact Oracle text matters and the runtime prompt does not expose enough detail, use the legal action label and visible context; if uncertainty remains, treat the line as conditional rather than inventing card text.

Thesis

Gremlin Tamer - Pauper assembles an enchantment-density battlefield around Gremlin Tamer, then turns that density into protected pressure, evasive damage, repeated card flow, and tempo denial. The ideal game develops mana, resolves Gremlin Tamer or another safe carrier, layers cheap enchantments such as Ethereal Armor, All That Glitters, Hyena Umbra, Dog Umbra, Conviction, Cartouche of Knowledge, Security Bypass, Steel of the Godhead, Ophidian Eye, Sigil of Sleep, or Pentarch Ward, and uses enchantment-based removal to keep the opposing board from racing the suited threat. Card text check required for Gremlin Tamer, but pilot decisions should treat the commander as the decks central commitment point unless Veles shows that another legal line produces a safer clock or preserves the engine.

The deck wins by converting enchantments into a hard-to-answer combat plan rather than by holding up perfect control indefinitely. Prioritize a protected or evasive threat when the opponent is not presenting immediate lethal pressure, then preserve that threat with Benevolent Blessing, Fanatical Devotion, Angelic Renewal, Hyena Umbra, Dog Umbra, Family Reunion, Rootborn Defenses, Flicker of Fate, Sejiri Steppe, Gossamer Chains, or Prismatic Strands after sideboarding. All That Glitters and Ethereal Armor are pressure payoffs; do not expose them onto an unprotected creature when the visible opponent board or open mana makes losing the carrier catastrophic and waiting still leaves a functional turn.

The deck is not trying to be a pure draw-go permission deck, a creature swarm deck, or a generic Azorius value pile. It has counterplay and removal, but its strongest turns usually spend mana proactively on enchantments, commander development, or board-shaping permanents. When behind, switch temporarily into containment with Frogify, Witness Protection, Planar Disruption, Reprobation, Trapped in the Screen, Imprisoned in the Moon, Banishing Light, Journey to Nowhere, Chains of Custody, Unable to Scream, Seal of Removal, Seal of Cleansing, Thraben Charm, Focus Fire, Hoodwink, Web Up, or Spreading Seas before resuming the aura plan.

The highest priority is preserving the first real engine commitment. Sequence lands and Signets so that Gremlin Tamer plus a protective or value enchantment can happen before the opponents pressure invalidates setup, and avoid tapping out for low-impact velocity if the current board requires removal, prevention, or a blocker. Use Veles legal actions and visible state as the arbiter: choose only offered actions, respect current targets, and treat unknown card text or hidden information as uncertainty rather than as permission to invent a combo line.

Role Package

  • Threats: Gremlin Tamer is the primary threat and commander-based engine commitment; Moon-Circuit Hacker, Spirited Companion, Transcendent Envoy, Slumbering Keepguard, Creeping Peeper, Suture Priest, Soul Warden, Lunarch Veteran // Luminous Phantom, Soul's Attendant, Starnheim Courser, Veil of Birds, Opal Gargoyle, Eagles of the North, Answered Prayers, and The Modern Age // Vector Glider are secondary bodies or body-adjacent permanents when Veles exposes them as creatures, attackers, blockers, or legal carriers.

  • Payoffs: All That Glitters, Ethereal Armor, Steel of the Godhead, Security Bypass, Cartouche of Knowledge, Ophidian Eye, Sigil of Sleep, Ocular Halo, Pentarch Ward, Stormcaller's Boon, On the Job, and Grand Entryway // Elegant Rotunda turn one creature or board state into damage, evasion, cards, or a decisive attack step. Commit these after checking whether the target survives visible removal, combat, and current stack pressure.

  • Engines: Gremlin Tamer, Conviction, Omen of the Sea, Ior Ruin Expedition, The Modern Age // Vector Glider, Fate Foretold, Spreading Seas, Betrayal, Psychic Venom, Soul Barrier, Answered Prayers, Suture Priest, Soul Warden, Soul's Attendant, Lunarch Veteran // Luminous Phantom, and Fanatical Devotion are the main long-game texture. Prefer engines that either add enchantment count, replace cards, tax opposing action, gain life against creature pressure, or protect the chosen threat.

  • Velocity: Omen of the Sea, Spirited Companion, Cartouche of Knowledge, Ophidian Eye, Ior Ruin Expedition, The Modern Age // Vector Glider, Lórien Revealed, Shared Discovery, Glimmerburst, Eagles of the North, Ash Barrens, Lonely Sandbar, Secluded Steppe, Drifting Meadow, Remote Isle, Desert of the Mindful, Desert of the True, Skybridge Towers, and The Surgical Bay help find mana, action, or missing protection. Use velocity before land drop only when the selection can change the land choice or unlock a needed color.

  • Interaction: Frogify, Witness Protection, Planar Disruption, Reprobation, Trapped in the Screen, Imprisoned in the Moon, Banishing Light, Journey to Nowhere, Chains of Custody, Unable to Scream, Seal of Removal, Seal of Cleansing, Thraben Charm, Focus Fire, Hoodwink, Web Up, Gossamer Chains, Soul Barrier, Spreading Seas, and Psychic Venom are the maindeck control package. Spend them first on threats that race the enchanted carrier, stop Gremlin Tamer from mattering, or punish tapped-out aura commitment.

  • Protection: Benevolent Blessing, Fanatical Devotion, Angelic Renewal, Hyena Umbra, Dog Umbra, Family Reunion, Rootborn Defenses, Flicker of Fate, Sejiri Steppe, Gossamer Chains, and Your Temple Is Under Attack are the main ways to preserve a key permanent or survive combat. Hold protection when the current threat is already winning and the opponent has visible mana or stack leverage.

  • Recursion: Return Triumphant and Angelic Renewal are the explicit rebuild tools, with Flicker of Fate also functioning as a reset or rescue line when legal. Use recursion to recover Gremlin Tamer or the best carrier rather than a replaceable body unless life total or blocking math forces the emergency line.

  • Mana: Plains, Island, Command Tower, Azorius Chancery, Arcane Signet, Azorius Signet, Ash Barrens, Evolving Wilds, Terramorphic Expanse, Halimar Depths, Escape Tunnel, Night Market, Abandoned Campground, Lonely Arroyo, The Fair Basilica, Skyline Cascade, Vibrant Cityscape, Skybridge Towers, Sejiri Steppe, The Surgical Bay, and the cycling lands support a tapland-heavy Azorius curve. Plan one turn ahead because aura plus protection and interaction plus development often require exact color sequencing.

  • Sideboard modules: Hydroblast and Blue Elemental Blast answer red pressure; Dispel and Negate protect commitment turns or fight noncreature interaction; Dust to Dust, Revoke Existence, Disenchant, and Relic of Progenitus target artifacts, enchantments, and graveyards; Standard Bearer redirects targeted plans; Prismatic Strands buys combat survival and race reversals. Exact plans belong in Sideboard Map only.

Primary Win Conditions

  • Protected commander engine: win by resolving Gremlin Tamer, then converting cheap enchantments and aura payoffs into board growth, evasive damage, or repeated material. Set up with stable white-blue mana from Plains, Island, Command Tower, Azorius Signet, Arcane Signet, Azorius Chancery, or fetch/cycling lands, then deploy Gremlin Tamer when at least one follow-up enchantment or protection line is available. Execute by chaining Conviction, Omen of the Sea, Fate Foretold, Spreading Seas, Cartouche of Knowledge, Ethereal Armor, All That Glitters, Security Bypass, Steel of the Godhead, or similar legal enchantment actions while respecting Veles targets. Prioritize this path when the opponent is not already forcing immediate removal or prevention, because the deck is strongest once every enchantment also advances commander pressure.

  • Voltron aura kill: win by making one legal carrier large, evasive, protected, and card-productive. Set up with a creature that can safely carry auras, often Gremlin Tamer, Moon-Circuit Hacker, Transcendent Envoy, Slumbering Keepguard, Creeping Peeper, The Modern Age // Vector Glider, or another visible creature if Veles exposes it as a legal target. Execute with All That Glitters, Ethereal Armor, Steel of the Godhead, Security Bypass, Cartouche of Knowledge, Ophidian Eye, Sigil of Sleep, Ocular Halo, Pentarch Ward, Stormcaller's Boon, On the Job, Hyena Umbra, or Dog Umbra, then attack only when the combat action preserves the clock better than holding back. Prioritize this path when the opponent has few visible blockers, when evasion is legal, or when the hand contains Benevolent Blessing, Fanatical Devotion, Angelic Renewal, Family Reunion, Rootborn Defenses, Flicker of Fate, Gossamer Chains, Sejiri Steppe, or Your Temple Is Under Attack to blunt removal or combat blowouts.

  • Enchantment-control pressure: win by shrinking or disabling opposing threats while a modest enchanted creature or token force deals damage over several turns. Set up by identifying the threat that invalidates the race, then use Frogify, Witness Protection, Planar Disruption, Reprobation, Trapped in the Screen, Imprisoned in the Moon, Banishing Light, Journey to Nowhere, Chains of Custody, Unable to Scream, Seal of Removal, Hoodwink, Web Up, Thraben Charm, Focus Fire, Seal of Cleansing, or Spreading Seas only on legal targets. Execute by spending interaction before aura commitment when the visible board would punish tapping out. Prioritize this path against larger creatures, commander-centric opponents, or boards where one clean answer buys multiple attack steps.

Secondary Win Conditions

  • Small-creature race: win with incremental bodies and life-buffer creatures when the primary carrier is removed or too risky to enchant. Use Suture Priest, Soul Warden, Soul's Attendant, Lunarch Veteran // Luminous Phantom, Spirited Companion, Moon-Circuit Hacker, Starnheim Courser, Veil of Birds, Opal Gargoyle, Eagles of the North, Answered Prayers, Summon: Choco/Mog, and Grand Entryway // Elegant Rotunda only according to visible legal roles, and do not assume a permanent is a creature unless Veles shows it can attack, block, or be targeted as one. This line matters most when life gain offsets a race, when the opponent spent removal on Gremlin Tamer, or when wide combat plus On the Job or Rootborn Defenses can turn a stalled board into a lethal swing.

  • Value-draw attrition: win by staying ahead on cards until a new carrier or answer appears. Use Omen of the Sea, Spirited Companion, Ior Ruin Expedition, The Modern Age // Vector Glider, Cartouche of Knowledge, Ophidian Eye, Fate Foretold, Spreading Seas, Lórien Revealed, Shared Discovery, Glimmerburst, Eagles of the North, and cycling lands to find mana, protection, or interaction. Prioritize this path when both players are trading resources, but stop spending mana on velocity if the visible board requires immediate Frogify-style containment or combat prevention.

  • Tax-and-lock pressure: win indirectly when Psychic Venom, Soul Barrier, Gossamer Chains, Betrayal, Spreading Seas, Seal of Removal, and Seal of Cleansing make the opponent's attacks, mana, or development awkward while small damage accumulates. Card text check required for exact trigger timing on less familiar permanents; use this line only when Veles exposes legal actions and the board state shows the lock piece is affecting relevant resources.

  • Recursion rebuild: win after disruption by returning the best lost threat rather than spreading auras onto weak carriers. Use Return Triumphant and Angelic Renewal to recover Gremlin Tamer or the strongest legal creature, and use Flicker of Fate as a rescue, reset, or value line only when the target and return timing are legal and visible.

Emergency Lines

  • Behind on life: stabilize before growing the attacker. Use life gain from Soul Warden, Soul's Attendant, Lunarch Veteran // Luminous Phantom, Suture Priest, Answered Prayers, or Steel of the Godhead when legal, and hold Gossamer Chains, Family Reunion, Rootborn Defenses, Your Temple Is Under Attack, Fanatical Devotion, or sideboard Prismatic Strands for combat steps that decide survival.

  • Behind on board: answer the highest-pressure permanent before committing All That Glitters or Ethereal Armor. Prefer Frogify, Witness Protection, Planar Disruption, Reprobation, Journey to Nowhere, Banishing Light, Trapped in the Screen, Imprisoned in the Moon, Chains of Custody, Unable to Scream, Seal of Removal, Hoodwink, Web Up, Thraben Charm, or Focus Fire according to legal targets and visible combat math.

  • Behind on cards: turn mana into selection before taking speculative attacks. Prioritize Omen of the Sea, Ior Ruin Expedition, The Modern Age // Vector Glider, Lórien Revealed, Shared Discovery, Glimmerburst, Spirited Companion, Cartouche of Knowledge, and cycling lands, but do not cycle a land that is needed for the next land drop or exact color pair.

  • Behind on mana: fix and develop before double-spelling unless survival is at stake. Use Ash Barrens, Evolving Wilds, Terramorphic Expanse, Halimar Depths, Arcane Signet, Azorius Signet, Azorius Chancery, Command Tower, and available taplands to secure white and blue, and avoid aura commitments that leave no mana for visible protection or interaction.

  • Engine removed or commander taxed: rebuild with the safest legal carrier and preserve protection for the next commitment. If Gremlin Tamer is unavailable, shift to Moon-Circuit Hacker, The Modern Age // Vector Glider, Transcendent Envoy, Slumbering Keepguard, Creeping Peeper, or any visible creature Veles marks as a legal aura target, then use Return Triumphant or Angelic Renewal when they recover more pressure than a fresh low-impact spell.

  • Win condition exiled or blanked: stop chasing the missing payoff and pivot to containment plus incremental damage. Use removal enchantments to buy turns, use value draw to locate another carrier or payoff, and treat every legal attack as conditional on current blockers, open mana, and whether the deck still has a protection action available.

Resource Model

  • Life is a buffer for assembling an enchanted carrier, not a resource to spend casually. Use Soul Warden, Soul's Attendant, Lunarch Veteran // Luminous Phantom, Suture Priest, Answered Prayers, Steel of the Godhead, Family Reunion, Rootborn Defenses, Your Temple Is Under Attack, Gossamer Chains, and sideboard Prismatic Strands to convert life margin into extra turns for Gremlin Tamer, All That Glitters, Ethereal Armor, or another legal attacker to matter.

  • Hand size is the deck's real combo fuel because each aura, protection spell, and answer is narrow. Protect Omen of the Sea, Spirited Companion, The Modern Age // Vector Glider, Ior Ruin Expedition, Lórien Revealed, Shared Discovery, Glimmerburst, Cartouche of Knowledge, Ophidian Eye, Fate Foretold, Spreading Seas, and cycling lands from low-impact use when the visible board demands a specific answer, color, or carrier.

  • Mana converts into snowball pressure when it creates both a legal carrier and immediate protection. Prioritize turns that cast Gremlin Tamer or another visible creature plus a cheap aura or shield over turns that tap out for a single exposed payoff, unless the opponent is tapped out, the clock demands action, or Veles shows no relevant opposing interaction.

  • Board material divides into carriers, enchantment count, defensive bodies, and expendable permanents. Treat Gremlin Tamer, Moon-Circuit Hacker, Transcendent Envoy, Slumbering Keepguard, Creeping Peeper, The Modern Age // Vector Glider, and any visible token as possible carriers only when Veles exposes legal targeting or combat actions, and count All That Glitters, Ethereal Armor, Steel of the Godhead, Security Bypass, Cartouche of Knowledge, Hyena Umbra, Dog Umbra, Pentarch Ward, Ocular Halo, Sigil of Sleep, and Conviction as pressure only after legality and target safety are checked.

  • Graveyard resources matter mainly for rebuilding, not for routine value. Preserve Return Triumphant and Angelic Renewal for Gremlin Tamer or the strongest lost legal creature, and treat Lunarch Veteran // Luminous Phantom graveyard use, if exposed by Veles, as conditional on life pressure and available mana; Card text check required for any exact transform or backside timing.

  • Exile is usually a loss of flexibility, so do not assume an exiled card is recoverable. Track opposing exile effects through public logs, use sideboard Relic of Progenitus only when graveyards are strategically relevant, and avoid self-exiling or cycling away unique effects if the matchup requires that exact sideboard bullet or removal class.

  • Lands are both mana and spell substitutes in this list. Cycling lands such as Secluded Steppe, Lonely Sandbar, Drifting Meadow, Remote Isle, Desert of the Mindful, and Desert of the True become cards only after land drops and color needs are secure; utility lands such as Escape Tunnel, Sejiri Steppe, Halimar Depths, Skyline Cascade, Skybridge Towers, The Fair Basilica, The Surgical Bay, Night Market, Vibrant Cityscape, Lonely Arroyo, and Abandoned Campground should be played for their visible text only when Veles confirms legal actions or relevant state.

  • Sacrifice fodder is scarce and should be assigned before combat. Use Fanatical Devotion only when the sacrificed permanent is lower value than the protected creature, and prefer expendable tokens, spent enchantments, or low-impact bodies over Gremlin Tamer, a suited carrier, or a card currently enabling All That Glitters or Ethereal Armor.

  • Sideboard bullets are precision resources, not generic upgrades. Hydroblast and Blue Elemental Blast convert mana into red interaction, Dispel and Negate protect key turns or answer noncreature interaction, Dust to Dust, Revoke Existence, Disenchant, and Seal of Cleansing answer artifacts or enchantments, Standard Bearer redirects relevant targeting pressure when legal, and Prismatic Strands buys combat turns against creature damage.

Mana Guide

  • Keep hands that produce both white and blue by turn three or have a clear legal path to find the missing color. White is needed for Gremlin Tamer support, protection, removal enchantments, and life-buffer cards, while blue is needed for Omen of the Sea, Sigil of Sleep, Security Bypass, Moon-Circuit Hacker, The Modern Age // Vector Glider, Seal of Removal, Spreading Seas, counter-sideboard cards, and draw velocity.

  • Mulligan hands with only taplands and no early play unless they contain reliable fixing plus a defensive plan. A hand with Command Tower, Ash Barrens, Evolving Wilds, Terramorphic Expanse, Arcane Signet, Azorius Signet, Azorius Chancery, or Lórien Revealed is more keepable when it also has Omen of the Sea, Spirited Companion, a cheap answer, or Gremlin Tamer access.

  • Sequence tapped lands early when the hand already has the required color pair. Lead on Azorius Chancery only when bouncing a land does not delay a critical turn, play cycling lands tapped before they are needed as redraws, and prefer Command Tower or basics when the turn requires exact untapped white or blue.

  • Use Ash Barrens, Evolving Wilds, and Terramorphic Expanse to fix before speculative card selection. Fetch Plains when the hand contains multiple white removal or protection spells, fetch Island when the hand depends on Omen of the Sea, The Modern Age // Vector Glider, Seal of Removal, Spreading Seas, or countermagic after sideboard, and avoid thinning decisions that strand the second color.

  • Play land before draw when the draw spell cannot change the land choice or when landfall-like setup is visible. Play land after Omen of the Sea, Halimar Depths, Lórien Revealed, cycling, or other selection when the selected card can determine whether to use a tapland, basic, fetch, bounce land, or utility land.

  • Preserve untapped mana when protection or interaction is part of the turn's plan. Do not spend the last white into Benevolent Blessing, Fanatical Devotion, Family Reunion, Rootborn Defenses, Your Temple Is Under Attack, Journey to Nowhere, or Thraben Charm decisions unless the current legal action is decisive; do not spend the last blue before Seal of Removal, Hoodwink, Omen of the Sea, Dispel, Negate, Hydroblast, or Blue Elemental Blast could matter.

  • Cast Arcane Signet and Azorius Signet when they unlock double-spell turns or commander recasts. Delay them only when the visible board requires immediate Frogify, Witness Protection, Planar Disruption, Reprobation, Journey to Nowhere, Banishing Light, Trapped in the Screen, Imprisoned in the Moon, Chains of Custody, Unable to Scream, Seal of Removal, or Web Up.

  • Treat Eagles of the North and Lórien Revealed as mana smoothing when land-light, and as spells only when land drops are secure. Card text check required for exact landcycling or alternate-use timing, so follow Veles legal actions rather than assuming the mode is available.

Mulligan Guide

  • Strong keep: keep two or three lands with both colors or a fixer, Gremlin Tamer access, and one cheap setup or answer. Examples include Command Tower plus Plains with Omen of the Sea and Frogify, Ash Barrens plus Island with Spirited Companion and Planar Disruption, or Evolving Wilds plus Arcane Signet with All That Glitters and Hyena Umbra.

  • Strong keep: keep hands that can make an early carrier and protect or enhance it before exposing premium auras. A hand with Gremlin Tamer, Dog Umbra, Ethereal Armor, and functional white mana is better than a hand with All That Glitters and Steel of the Godhead but no creature or shield.

  • Medium keep: keep slower tapland hands when they have fixing and card flow. Azorius Chancery, Secluded Steppe, Island, Omen of the Sea, Spirited Companion, and Journey to Nowhere is acceptable on the draw against unknown opponents; it is weaker on the play against fast creature starts.

  • Medium keep: keep interaction-heavy hands when the mana is clean and one card eventually advances the enchantment plan. Frogify, Witness Protection, Reprobation, Planar Disruption, and Journey to Nowhere can buy time, but ship if the hand has no blue source, no white source, and no card selection.

  • Risky keep: keep one-land hands only with an immediate fixer or selection chain. Ash Barrens plus Omen of the Sea, or Island plus Lórien Revealed with a visible land-finding legal action, can be defensible; one Plains plus All That Glitters, Steel of the Godhead, and multiple three-mana cards is a trap.

  • Automatic ship: ship hands with no land, one tapped land and no fixer, five-plus lands without Omen of the Sea or action, or auras with no legal carrier plan. Hands built from Ethereal Armor, All That Glitters, Cartouche of Knowledge, Steel of the Godhead, and no Gremlin Tamer or creature should not rely on drawing a body.

  • Matchup-dependent keep: keep removal clusters against creature commanders and aggressive boards, but keep countermagic or protection after sideboard against spell-heavy opponents. Hydroblast, Blue Elemental Blast, Dispel, Negate, Standard Bearer, Prismatic Strands, and Relic of Progenitus matter only when their targets or matchup roles are plausible from public information.

  • Play/draw rule: on the play, prefer untapped mana, a turn-two Gremlin Tamer or defensive enchantment, and protection sequencing; on the draw, accept more tapped fixing if the hand has Omen of the Sea, Spirited Companion, The Modern Age // Vector Glider, or Journey to Nowhere to prevent falling behind.

  • Trap-hand rule: do not keep a hand because it contains All That Glitters or Ethereal Armor unless it also contains mana, a carrier, and a way to survive removal or racing. Do not keep Arcane Signet plus Azorius Signet hands that cannot cast early white interaction against visible pressure.

Turn Arc

  • Turn 1: prioritize color fixing and tapped-land setup before speculative threats. Lead with Command Tower, Ash Barrens, Evolving Wilds, Terramorphic Expanse, Halimar Depths, Secluded Steppe, Lonely Sandbar, Desert of the True, Desert of the Mindful, or another tapped source according to the hand; deviate to Soul Warden, Soul's Attendant, Lunarch Veteran // Luminous Phantom, or Seal of Removal only when the legal action immediately contests the board or supports the next turn.

  • Turn 2: establish Gremlin Tamer, Arcane Signet, Azorius Signet, Omen of the Sea, Spirited Companion, Transcendent Envoy, or a cheap answer. Use Frogify, Witness Protection, Planar Disruption, Reprobation, Unable to Scream, Journey to Nowhere, or Seal of Removal when the opposing permanent is already pressuring life, commander damage, or the aura plan; otherwise build mana and card flow.

  • Turn 3: create the first real snowball turn by pairing a carrier with protection or an aura. Prefer Gremlin Tamer plus Hyena Umbra, Dog Umbra, Benevolent Blessing, Cartouche of Knowledge, Security Bypass, Sigil of Sleep, Conviction, or Steel of the Godhead only when Veles shows a legal target and the opponent's visible mana makes the risk acceptable.

  • Turn 3 deviation: spend the turn on Banishing Light, Trapped in the Screen, Imprisoned in the Moon, Chains of Custody, Web Up, Hoodwink, or Thraben Charm when one opposing permanent invalidates attacking, blocks the commander plan, or threatens lethal tempo. Do not add All That Glitters into open removal unless protection, redundancy, or lethal pressure justifies it.

  • Turns 4-5: convert enchantment count into damage, cards, or board control while keeping one defensive layer available. Stack Ethereal Armor, All That Glitters, Ocular Halo, Ophidian Eye, Fate Foretold, Pentarch Ward, and Steel of the Godhead on the safest legal carrier; use Flicker of Fate, Family Reunion, Rootborn Defenses, Fanatical Devotion, Angelic Renewal, or Your Temple Is Under Attack to protect a committed board when Veles exposes the relevant action.

  • Turns 4-5 deviation: stabilize before racing when behind on board. Prioritize Journey to Nowhere, Banishing Light, Trapped in the Screen, Seal of Cleansing, Gossamer Chains, Soul Barrier, Suture Priest, Answered Prayers, or Prismatic Strands after sideboard over extra aura pressure if visible attacks can outpace the lifegain or unblockable plan.

  • Late game: recast Gremlin Tamer, rebuild a carrier, and preserve unique answers for the permanent type that matters. Use Return Triumphant and Angelic Renewal to recover the best legal creature, cycle lands only after land drops and colors are secure, and treat Eagles of the North or Lórien Revealed as mana smoothing when Veles offers that role.

  • Late-game finishing rule: commit All That Glitters, Ethereal Armor, Steel of the Godhead, On the Job, Stormcaller's Boon, Focus Fire, or Summon: Choco/Mog only when the attack step, protection, and opponent's visible interaction line up. If the legal action is not clearly lethal or stabilizing, leave mana for Seal of Removal, Hoodwink, Benevolent Blessing, Family Reunion, or sideboard counters instead.

Card Roles

  • Commander and primary carrier: Gremlin Tamer is the command-zone engine, default aura carrier, and rebuild point after removal. Card text check required for exact trigger and combat sizing, so choose Gremlin Tamer lines only from visible legal actions and do not assume token creation, damage, or protection unless Veles exposes it.

  • Premium scaling auras: All That Glitters and Ethereal Armor are the highest-risk, highest-reward damage cards. Cast them after a legal carrier is established, after removal risk is reduced, or when the attack threatens a decisive clock; avoid putting either on an unprotected creature into open interaction unless waiting loses the race.

  • Evasion and card-flow auras: Cartouche of Knowledge, Security Bypass, Steel of the Godhead, Ocular Halo, Ophidian Eye, Fate Foretold, and Sigil of Sleep turn a creature from body into engine. Prioritize evasion before extra power when blockers matter, prioritize draw text when hands are low, and verify the exact legal target because some auras may have attachment restrictions.

  • Protective auras and shields: Hyena Umbra, Dog Umbra, Benevolent Blessing, Pentarch Ward, Conviction, Family Reunion, Rootborn Defenses, Your Temple Is Under Attack, Fanatical Devotion, Angelic Renewal, and Flicker of Fate preserve the committed carrier or rebuild after a sweeper. Use them before stacking lethal auras when the opponent has visible untapped interaction, but do not waste one on a minor creature unless it protects commander access, lethal pressure, or a crucial blocker.

  • Creature-control enchantments: Frogify, Witness Protection, Reprobation, Planar Disruption, Unable to Scream, Web Up, Trapped in the Screen, Imprisoned in the Moon, Journey to Nowhere, Banishing Light, Chains of Custody, and Gossamer Chains are the main way to survive opposing commanders and large attackers. Spend the cheap versions on early pressure or must-stop commanders, reserve flexible exile-style effects for noncreature permanents or protected threats when possible, and check Veles target text before assuming a permanent type is legal.

  • Bounce, tax, and tempo interaction: Seal of Removal, Hoodwink, Soul Barrier, Psychic Venom, Seal of Cleansing, and Thraben Charm are timing-sensitive tools. Hold Seal of Removal and Hoodwink when they can break an aura, reset a blocker, interrupt a lethal attack, or protect a carrier; cash Seal of Cleansing and Thraben Charm only when the visible permanent or graveyard mode is worth more than future flexibility.

  • Setup permanents and selection: Omen of the Sea, The Modern Age // Vector Glider, Ior Ruin Expedition, Spreading Seas, Grand Entryway // Elegant Rotunda, Glimmerburst, Shared Discovery, and Lórien Revealed smooth draws and help find lands, protection, or payoffs. Use early selection before committing premium auras when mana is uncertain, but do not spend a full turn drawing if a visible threat requires Journey to Nowhere or Frogify immediately.

  • Low-cost bodies and carriers: Spirited Companion, Transcendent Envoy, Moon-Circuit Hacker, Slumbering Keepguard, Creeping Peeper, Veil of Birds, Opal Gargoyle, Starnheim Courser, Suture Priest, Soul Warden, Soul's Attendant, Lunarch Veteran // Luminous Phantom, and Answered Prayers create the board that carries auras or buys time. Card text check required for several exact combat and transformation details; treat them as legal bodies, lifegain pieces, cost reducers, or defensive permanents only when Veles shows those roles.

  • Lifegain and race stabilizers: Soul Warden, Soul's Attendant, Lunarch Veteran // Luminous Phantom, Suture Priest, and Answered Prayers make racing possible while Gremlin Tamer scales. Deploy them early against creature decks, but do not overvalue incremental life when the winning line is protecting one evasive carrier.

  • Finish and burst tools: On the Job, Stormcaller's Boon, Focus Fire, Summon: Choco/Mog, Steel of the Godhead, All That Glitters, and Ethereal Armor are closing cards. Card text check required for Summon: Choco/Mog and Focus Fire exact modes; use them only when the visible combat math, legal targets, and post-combat risk justify spending the turn on pressure.

  • Recursion and recovery: Return Triumphant, Angelic Renewal, Flicker of Fate, Conviction, and the commander tax plan are the rebuild package. Prefer returning or saving Gremlin Tamer, the best evasive carrier, or a lifegain blocker over small value creatures; do not spend recovery while the current board already presents protected lethal pressure.

  • Mana and fixing artifacts: Arcane Signet and Azorius Signet are early accelerants that let the deck double-spell protection plus aura later. Cast them before medium-impact auras when the hand is mana hungry, but skip them when a legal removal aura is needed to stop immediate damage or commander snowballing.

  • Land roles: Command Tower, Azorius Chancery, Ash Barrens, Evolving Wilds, Terramorphic Expanse, Halimar Depths, Sejiri Steppe, Escape Tunnel, Skybridge Towers, Skyline Cascade, The Fair Basilica, The Surgical Bay, Abandoned Campground, Vibrant Cityscape, Lonely Arroyo, Night Market, Secluded Steppe, Lonely Sandbar, Drifting Meadow, Remote Isle, Desert of the Mindful, Desert of the True, Plains, and Island are not interchangeable. Prioritize untapped colors for early interaction, use cycling lands after colors and land drops are secure, treat Sejiri Steppe and Escape Tunnel as tactical resources when Veles exposes relevant legal actions, and use Azorius Chancery only when the tempo loss does not expose lethal pressure.

Card Hover Notes

Gremlin Tamer

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy in the command zone; core commander, engine piece, and primary aura carrier.
  • Role type: engine piece; mechanic payoff; threat/clock.
  • Deck-specific job: Turns each enchantment you control entering and each fully unlocked Grand Entryway // Elegant Rotunda Room into a 1/1 red Gremlin creature token, converting the deck's high enchantment density into material.
  • Timing: Cast when you can follow with a cheap enchantment such as Hyena Umbra, Conviction, Omen of the Sea, or Witness Protection, or when removal pressure is low enough that commander tax will not strand the plan.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {W}{U} and future commander-tax mana; outputs token bodies from enchantment entries and fully unlocked Rooms.
  • Partners / packages: Exact trigger partners include Conviction, Omen of the Sea, Ethereal Armor, All That Glitters, Frogify, Witness Protection, Grand Entryway // Elegant Rotunda, Banishing Light, and Web Up.
  • Role peers: No direct peer; closest role overlap is Slumbering Keepguard as enchantment-entry payoff and Answered Prayers as creature-entry payoff.
  • Failure modes: Do not cast into an obvious removal window if the hand needs the commander to make All That Glitters or Ethereal Armor lethal; track commander tax after each death or command-zone return.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong against slow midrange and control; against fast aggro, pair with Journey to Nowhere, Planar Disruption, Soul Warden, or Suture Priest before racing.

Frogify

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; cheap blue creature-neutralizing aura and enchantment count.
  • Role type: interaction-removal; role glue.
  • Deck-specific job: Blanks a creature's abilities and makes it a blue Frog creature with base power and toughness 1/1, solving commanders or oversized blockers while triggering Gremlin Tamer.
  • Timing: Use early on a creature whose abilities or size changes the next combat; save it over Witness Protection only when one-mana interaction is needed elsewhere.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{U} and an Aura slot; outputs a much smaller creature that can still block or attack as a 1/1.
  • Partners / packages: Enables attacks by Gremlin Tamer, Moon-Circuit Hacker, and Steel of the Godhead carriers; overlaps with Witness Protection, Reprobation, Unable to Scream, and Planar Disruption.
  • Role peers: Witness Protection is cheaper and renames/recolors; Reprobation makes 0/1 but keeps supertypes; Unable to Scream leaves artifact type.
  • Failure modes: It does not remove the creature from combat permanently, does not stop Auras already attached by itself, and can be undone if the Aura leaves.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Best versus commander-centric creatures, activated/static ability creatures, and single-threat Voltron starts.

All That Glitters

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; premium scaling aura and core finisher.
  • Role type: mechanic payoff; threat/clock; reach/finisher.
  • Deck-specific job: Gives enchanted creature +1/+1 for each artifact and/or enchantment you control, so Arcane Signet, Azorius Signet, Clue tokens from On the Job, and the deck's many enchantments all increase damage.
  • Timing: Commit after a carrier is protected or evasive, or when the attack is lethal/decisive; avoid early exposure on an unprotected 1/1 when the opponent has open removal.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{W}, a legal creature target, and board commitment; outputs a large combat threat scaling with artifacts and enchantments you control.
  • Partners / packages: Strong on Gremlin Tamer, Security Bypass carriers, Cartouche of Knowledge carriers, Steel of the Godhead carriers, and Hyena Umbra or Dog Umbra protected creatures.
  • Role peers: Ethereal Armor scales only with enchantments and adds first strike; Steel of the Godhead adds evasion/lifelink by color instead of board-wide scaling.
  • Failure modes: Losing the creature can lose the Aura and the game plan; do not count opponent artifacts/enchantments.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Excellent when board stalls; risky into bounce, edicts, exile removal, or visible Disenchant-style answers.

Ophidian Eye

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; flash card-flow aura for a connecting creature.
  • Role type: engine piece; card selection; role glue.
  • Deck-specific job: Gives a damage-to-opponent draw trigger, turning an evasive or protected creature into repeatable cards while still entering as an enchantment for Gremlin Tamer.
  • Timing: Flash it in when the creature is likely to connect or when holding mana represents protection; main-phase only when you need enchantment count or can attack safely now.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {2}{U} and a creature target; outputs optional card draw whenever enchanted creature deals damage to an opponent.
  • Partners / packages: Best with Security Bypass, Steel of the Godhead on blue creatures, Cartouche of Knowledge, Escape Tunnel, and Sigil of Sleep.
  • Role peers: Ocular Halo gives tap-to-draw instead of combat draw; Cartouche of Knowledge draws once and gives flying; Security Bypass connives on combat damage.
  • Failure modes: Bad on a creature that cannot attack through blockers; flash does not protect the target by itself.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong in control and midrange where extra cards matter; too slow when a creature deck is threatening lethal next combat.

Witness Protection

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; one-mana blue creature debuff aura and enchantment count.
  • Role type: interaction-removal; role glue.
  • Deck-specific job: Removes a creature's abilities, colors, card types, creature types, and name, making it a green and white 1/1 Citizen named Legitimate Businessperson.
  • Timing: Use early when one mana preserves tempo or clears a dangerous commander ability before it snowballs.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {U}; outputs a 1/1 creature that may still block or be used as sacrifice material.
  • Partners / packages: Protects Gremlin Tamer attacks alongside Frogify, Reprobation, Unable to Scream, Journey to Nowhere, and Planar Disruption.
  • Role peers: Frogify costs {1}{U} and makes a blue Frog; Reprobation makes a 0/1 Coward; Planar Disruption stops attacking, blocking, and activated abilities on artifact, creature, or planeswalker.
  • Failure modes: Does not exile, tap, or prevent blocking entirely; if the opponent only needs a body, it may not be enough.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: High priority against commanders with static or triggered abilities; lower priority against expendable tokens or creatures already blanked by combat math.

Ethereal Armor

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; premium scaling aura and first-strike finisher.
  • Role type: mechanic payoff; threat/clock; protection/evasion.
  • Deck-specific job: Gives +1/+1 for each enchantment you control and first strike, making the deck's enchantment density into both damage and combat dominance.
  • Timing: Better after two or more enchantments are already present or when first strike changes combat; do not cast just for +1/+1 unless it creates lethal or saves a blocker.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {W} and a creature target; outputs scaling power/toughness and first strike.
  • Partners / packages: Strong with Gremlin Tamer, Conviction, Omen of the Sea, Hyena Umbra, Dog Umbra, Cartouche of Knowledge, and Pentarch Ward.
  • Role peers: All That Glitters counts artifacts and enchantments but lacks first strike; Hyena Umbra gives fixed +1/+1, first strike, and umbra armor.
  • Failure modes: Counts only enchantments you control, not artifacts; losing the carrier can collapse the largest threat.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Excellent against creature combat; vulnerable to exile, bounce, sacrifice effects, and instant-speed removal before combat damage.

Planar Disruption

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; white disabling aura for artifacts, creatures, or planeswalkers.
  • Role type: interaction-removal.
  • Deck-specific job: Stops enchanted artifact, creature, or planeswalker from attacking, blocking, and activating activated abilities, while adding enchantment count.
  • Timing: Use on the permanent whose attack, block, or activated ability matters most; save exile effects for permanents Planar Disruption cannot fully answer.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{W}; outputs combat denial and activated-ability shutdown without removing static or triggered abilities.
  • Partners / packages: Complements Journey to Nowhere, Banishing Light, Trapped in the Screen, Web Up, and Imprisoned in the Moon.
  • Role peers: Imprisoned in the Moon handles creature, named land, or planeswalker and removes types/abilities; Frogify handles creatures only; Web Up exiles nonland permanents temporarily.
  • Failure modes: Does not stop static abilities, triggered abilities, or mana abilities unless they are activated abilities of the enchanted permanent and legally affected.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong against activated commanders, equipment creatures, planeswalkers, and large blockers; weak against enter-trigger value already gained.

Sigil of Sleep

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; blue combat-damage bounce aura and tempo engine.
  • Role type: mechanic payoff; protection/evasion; interaction-removal.
  • Deck-specific job: Turns a connecting creature into repeatable bounce against target creature controlled by the damaged player, opening future attacks and breaking opposing tempo.
  • Timing: Cast only when the creature can deal damage to a player soon; strongest before an attack with evasion from Cartouche of Knowledge, Steel of the Godhead, Security Bypass, or Escape Tunnel.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {U} and a creature target; outputs bounce triggers when enchanted creature deals damage to a player.
  • Partners / packages: Best on Gremlin Tamer, Moon-Circuit Hacker, Cartouche of Knowledge carriers, Security Bypass carriers, and Steel of the Godhead blue carriers.
  • Role peers: Seal of Removal is one-shot creature bounce; Hoodwink bounces artifact, enchantment, or land; Gossamer Chains prevents damage from one unblocked creature.
  • Failure modes: Does nothing without combat damage to a player; the bounce target must be a creature that damaged player controls.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong versus single large blockers and aura stacks; less useful against go-wide boards with expendable creatures.

Omen of the Sea

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; flash enchantment selection and later scry sink.
  • Role type: card selection; engine fuel/material; role glue.
  • Deck-specific job: Triggers Gremlin Tamer at instant speed, scries 2, draws a card, and can later be sacrificed for {2}{U} to scry 2.
  • Timing: Cast before land decisions when scry can change the land drop; otherwise hold for end step if you need to preserve interaction mana.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{U}; outputs scry 2 plus one card now, and can later consume {2}{U} and itself for scry 2.
  • Mode map: Flash cast for immediate scry/draw and enchantment entry; activated sacrifice later for scry 2 when extra mana is available or a dead top card must be cleared.
  • Partners / packages: Finds Gremlin Tamer support such as Ethereal Armor, All That Glitters, Journey to Nowhere, Benevolent Blessing, and needed lands.
  • Role peers: The Modern Age // Vector Glider filters across chapters with missing reference text; Lórien Revealed draws three or Islandcycles; Halimar Depths orders top three without drawing.
  • Failure modes: Sacrificing it reduces enchantment count for Ethereal Armor and Gremlin Tamer density.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Excellent against control and midrange; against aggro, do not spend turn two on it if Journey to Nowhere or Witness Protection is needed immediately.

Security Bypass

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; evasion and connive aura for single-attacker plans.
  • Role type: protection/evasion; card selection; threat/clock.
  • Deck-specific job: Makes the enchanted creature unblockable only while it attacks alone and gives it a combat-damage connive trigger.
  • Timing: Use when one loaded carrier is the plan; do not cast before combat if you need multiple attackers or blockers more than an unblockable hit.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{U}; outputs unblockable single-attacker combat and connive, drawing then discarding and adding a +1/+1 counter if a nonland is discarded.
  • Partners / packages: Excellent with Gremlin Tamer, All That Glitters, Ethereal Armor, Ophidian Eye, Sigil of Sleep, and Steel of the Godhead.
  • Role peers: Steel of the Godhead grants unblockable only if the creature is blue; Cartouche of Knowledge grants flying; Escape Tunnel grants one power-2-or-less creature unblockable for a turn.
  • Failure modes: Fails as evasion if you need to attack with Gremlin tokens too; connive can force awkward discards in a narrow hand.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong through stalled boards; poor when the opponent can remove the single attacker before damage.

Steel of the Godhead

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; hybrid aura finisher for white/blue carriers.
  • Role type: protection/evasion; lifegain/stabilization; threat/clock.
  • Deck-specific job: Gives +1/+1 and lifelink if the enchanted creature is white, and +1/+1 and can't be blocked if it is blue; Gremlin Tamer is both white and blue, so it gets both bonuses.
  • Timing: Prioritize on Gremlin Tamer or another legal white-blue/blue carrier when lifelink or unblockable damage changes the race.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {2}{W/U} and a creature target; outputs color-dependent size, lifelink, and/or unblockability.
  • Partners / packages: Pairs with All That Glitters, Ethereal Armor, Security Bypass, Ophidian Eye, Sigil of Sleep, and Benevolent Blessing.
  • Role peers: Cartouche of Knowledge gives flying and a card; Security Bypass gives unblockable only when attacking alone; Pentarch Ward gives protection and draws.
  • Failure modes: On a nonwhite nonblue creature it enchants legally but gives no listed benefit; check current colors after Witness Protection or Frogify effects.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: A premier stabilizer versus burn and aggro; still vulnerable to edicts, bounce, and exile effects.

Conviction

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; reusable white aura and toughness buffer.
  • Role type: role glue; engine fuel/material; protection/evasion.
  • Deck-specific job: Gives +1/+3 and can return itself to its owner's hand for {W}, letting it be replayed for another enchantment entry with Gremlin Tamer.
  • Timing: Use early when toughness protects the carrier from combat; save {W} to return it if the carrier is about to die or if replaying it next turn produces more value.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{W}; outputs toughness and repeatable Aura entry at the cost of {W} per return.
  • Mode map: Cast as a normal Aura for stats; activate {W} to return Conviction to hand before removal resolves or to rebuild enchantment-entry triggers.
  • Partners / packages: Best with Gremlin Tamer, Ethereal Armor, All That Glitters, Slumbering Keepguard, and Transcendent Envoy.
  • Role peers: Hyena Umbra protects from destruction once; Dog Umbra can flash and protect your creature with umbra armor; Fate Foretold replaces itself and draws on death.
  • Failure modes: Returning it lowers enchantment count and may shrink Ethereal Armor or All That Glitters mid-combat.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong in grindy games; weaker against exile removal or bounce that ignores the toughness boost.

Seal of Cleansing

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; pre-deployable artifact/enchantment answer.
  • Role type: interaction-removal; hate piece; role glue.
  • Deck-specific job: Enters as an enchantment for Gremlin Tamer, then sits ready to sacrifice and destroy target artifact or enchantment.
  • Timing: Cast proactively when you can afford {1}{W}; sacrifice only for an artifact or enchantment that blocks your carrier plan, enables a combo, or threatens lethal.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{W}; outputs a stored destroy effect at the cost of sacrificing itself and lowering enchantment count.
  • Partners / packages: Complements Disenchant, Revoke Existence, Dust to Dust, Thraben Charm, Banishing Light, and Trapped in the Screen.
  • Role peers: Disenchant is instant from hand; Revoke Existence exiles at sorcery speed; Thraben Charm destroys only target enchantment among its modes.
  • Failure modes: Do not sacrifice it into a replaceable artifact if All That Glitters or Ethereal Armor needs the enchantment count this turn.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: High value against artifact/enchantment engines, equipment, opposing Auras, and prison pieces.

Moon-Circuit Hacker

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; small blue card-flow creature and alternate carrier.
  • Role type: card selection; threat/clock; role glue.
  • Deck-specific job: Can ninjutsu for {U} by returning an unblocked attacker you control, then draws on combat damage and discards unless it entered this turn.
  • Timing: Use ninjutsu when a low-value unblocked attacker can become immediate card advantage; hard-cast when you need a low-mana creature named in this note for auras.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{U} normally or {U} plus returning an unblocked attacker; outputs a 2/1 body and combat-damage card flow.
  • Mode map: Hard-cast as an enchantment creature carrier; ninjutsu from hand tapped and attacking after an unblocked attacker is declared.
  • Partners / packages: Works with Security Bypass, Cartouche of Knowledge, Escape Tunnel, Ophidian Eye, and Sigil of Sleep.
  • Role peers: Spirited Companion draws immediately but is smaller; The Modern Age // Vector Glider offers delayed filtering with missing reference text; Ocular Halo grants tap-to-draw.
  • Failure modes: Ninjutsu can remove a better enchanted attacker from combat, causing lost Aura pressure.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Good versus control when an unblocked hit is available; poor into blockers or damage-based removal.

Reprobation

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; white creature debuff aura.
  • Role type: interaction-removal.
  • Deck-specific job: Removes enchanted creature's abilities and makes it a Coward creature with base power and toughness 0/1 while it keeps supertypes.
  • Timing: Use on creatures where ability loss and 0 power matter more than exile; efficient on opposing commanders that still can sit on board without attacking well.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{W}; outputs a near-harmless body and enchantment count.
  • Partners / packages: Teams with Frogify, Witness Protection, Unable to Scream, Planar Disruption, and Journey to Nowhere.
  • Role peers: Witness Protection costs {U} and changes name/color/type more fully; Frogify makes 1/1; Unable to Scream makes a 0/2 Toy artifact creature.
  • Failure modes: Does not stop sacrifice use, equipment attachment, or the creature existing for creature-count effects.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong against commander creatures and combat attackers; weaker against decks that profit from any creature body.

Hyena Umbra

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; cheap protective aura and combat stat boost.
  • Role type: protection/evasion; threat/clock.
  • Deck-specific job: Gives +1/+1, first strike, and umbra armor, letting one key carrier survive a destruction event while preserving the creature.
  • Timing: Cast before premium scaling Auras when removal or combat damage is likely; can be first Aura on Gremlin Tamer to make later investment safer.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {W}; outputs first strike, +1/+1, enchantment count, and one destruction replacement by destroying Hyena Umbra instead.
  • Partners / packages: Protects Gremlin Tamer, All That Glitters carriers, Ethereal Armor carriers, Security Bypass carriers, and Steel of the Godhead carriers.
  • Role peers: Dog Umbra has flash and different opponent-creature text; Benevolent Blessing gives color protection; Fanatical Devotion regenerates by sacrificing a creature.
  • Failure modes: Umbra armor does not stop exile, bounce, sacrifice, -toughness effects, or Auras falling off from illegal targets.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong in creature combat and against destroy removal; weak against edict-heavy or exile-heavy opponents.

Spirited Companion

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; enchantment creature cantrip and expendable body.
  • Role type: card selection; engine fuel/material; role glue.
  • Deck-specific job: Draws a card on entry, triggers Gremlin Tamer as an enchantment entering, and leaves a 1/1 body for blocking, auras, or Fanatical Devotion.
  • Timing: Cast early when you need land/action flow or a safe carrier; later it is good material after replacing itself.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{W}; outputs one card, one enchantment body, and possible creature-entry lifegain with Soul Warden, Soul's Attendant, Suture Priest, Answered Prayers, or Lunarch Veteran // Luminous Phantom.
  • Partners / packages: Works with Gremlin Tamer, Fanatical Devotion, Return Triumphant, All That Glitters, and Ethereal Armor.
  • Role peers: Moon-Circuit Hacker draws through combat; Cartouche of Knowledge draws while enhancing a creature; Glimmerburst draws two and creates a Glimmer enchantment creature token.
  • Failure modes: Do not spend protection saving it unless it is the only carrier or blocker that preserves survival.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Good in control and midrange; acceptable aggro blocker when life total matters.

Transcendent Envoy

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; flying enchantment creature and Aura cost reducer.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp; threat/clock; role glue.
  • Deck-specific job: Reduces Aura spells you cast by {1}, making All That Glitters, Steel of the Godhead, Ophidian Eye, Cartouche of Knowledge, and removal Auras easier to double-spell.
  • Timing: Cast before a multi-Aura turn when it will save mana; use as a flying carrier when evasion is more valuable than Gremlin Tamer exposure.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{W}; outputs a 1/2 flying enchantment creature and ongoing generic Aura cost reduction.
  • Partners / packages: Discounts Frogify, All That Glitters, Ophidian Eye, Witness Protection, Ethereal Armor, Planar Disruption, Sigil of Sleep, Security Bypass, and Pentarch Ward.
  • Role peers: Starnheim Courser reduces artifact and enchantment spells; Creeping Peeper produces {U} only for enchantment spells, unlocking doors, or turning permanents face up.
  • Failure modes: Does not reduce non-Aura enchantments such as Omen of the Sea, Banishing Light, or Web Up.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong in slower games; fragile against pingers and cheap flyers.

Grand Entryway // Elegant Rotunda

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; Room enchantment, token maker, and counter burst.
  • Role type: modal utility; engine piece; threat/clock.
  • Deck-specific job: Either door enters as an enchantment for Gremlin Tamer; fully unlocking the Room also triggers Gremlin Tamer, while Grand Entryway makes a 1/1 white Glimmer enchantment creature token and Elegant Rotunda puts +1/+1 counters on up to two target creatures.
  • Timing: Cast Grand Entryway when you need material; unlock Elegant Rotunda before a decisive attack or when two legal creatures benefit.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{W} for Grand Entryway and/or {2}{W} for Elegant Rotunda; outputs an enchantment creature token, counters, enchantment count, and Room-unlock triggers.
  • Mode map: Cast either half to unlock that door; later, as a sorcery, pay the locked door's cost to unlock the other half.
  • Partners / packages: Supports Gremlin Tamer, All That Glitters, Ethereal Armor, Soul Warden, Soul's Attendant, Answered Prayers, and Rootborn Defenses populate if a creature token exists.
  • Role peers: Glimmerburst draws two and makes a Glimmer token; Summon: Choco/Mog pumps other creatures over Saga chapters.
  • Failure modes: Elegant Rotunda needs up to two legal target creatures; unlocking at sorcery speed cannot answer instant combat blowouts.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Good against grindy decks; slower versus fast aggro unless the Glimmer body stabilizes.

Dog Umbra

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; flash Aura that protects your creature or pacifies an opponent's creature.
  • Role type: protection/evasion; interaction-removal; modal utility.
  • Deck-specific job: If another player controls enchanted creature, it can't attack or block; otherwise Dog Umbra has umbra armor for your carrier.
  • Timing: Hold up as flash protection or surprise combat denial; cast proactively when it lets Gremlin Tamer safely carry premium Auras.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{W} and a creature target; outputs either attack/block denial on an opposing creature or one destruction replacement on your creature.
  • Mode map: Enchant your creature for umbra armor; enchant an opponent-controlled creature to stop it from attacking or blocking.
  • Partners / packages: Protects Gremlin Tamer, All That Glitters carriers, Ethereal Armor carriers, and Security Bypass carriers; overlaps with Planar Disruption and Gossamer Chains for combat denial.
  • Role peers: Hyena Umbra is cheaper and gives first strike; Benevolent Blessing gives chosen-color protection; Planar Disruption can hit artifact, creature, or planeswalker.
  • Failure modes: On your creature it gives no stat bonus; on an opponent's creature it does not remove abilities.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Excellent when holding mana matters; strong versus combat threats and destroy removal.

Trapped in the Screen

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; warded temporary exile enchantment.
  • Role type: interaction-removal; role glue.
  • Deck-specific job: Exiles target artifact, creature, or enchantment an opponent controls until Trapped in the Screen leaves the battlefield, and ward {2} taxes attempts to remove it.
  • Timing: Use on the permanent type your cheaper auras cannot answer cleanly, especially artifacts or enchantments that stop the carrier plan.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {2}{W}; outputs temporary exile and an enchantment with ward {2}.
  • Partners / packages: Complements Web Up, Banishing Light, Journey to Nowhere, Chains of Custody, and Seal of Cleansing.
  • Role peers: Banishing Light hits target nonland permanent an opponent controls; Web Up hits target nonland permanent an opponent controls; Journey to Nowhere hits target creature.
  • Failure modes: If it leaves battlefield, the exiled card returns; cannot target named lands or your own permanents.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong against artifact/enchantment engines and Voltron creatures; watch for opposing Disenchant effects that can release the threat.

Imprisoned in the Moon

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; flexible blue Aura for creature, named land, or planeswalker.
  • Role type: interaction-removal; hate piece.
  • Deck-specific job: Turns enchanted creature, named land, or planeswalker into a colorless land with "{T}: Add {C}" and removes all other card types and abilities.
  • Timing: Save for commanders, utility lands, or planeswalkers whose abilities matter more than a simple blocker.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {2}{U}; outputs a colorless mana land for that permanent's controller while removing its original function.
  • Partners / packages: Works alongside Spreading Seas, Psychic Venom, Hoodwink, Planar Disruption, and Banishing Light for permanent control.
  • Role peers: Planar Disruption stops combat/activated abilities but not land types; Banishing Light exiles nonland permanents; Frogify only handles creatures.
  • Failure modes: Giving the opponent {C} can help them cast generic costs; cannot target artifacts or enchantments unless they are also creature, named land, or planeswalker.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Excellent versus commander-centric and big-mana utility permanents; poor against low-impact creatures.

Banishing Light

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; broad temporary exile enchantment.
  • Role type: interaction-removal.
  • Deck-specific job: Exiles target nonland permanent an opponent controls until Banishing Light leaves the battlefield, answering the widest maindeck permanent range except lands.
  • Timing: Hold for the permanent your narrower answers cannot cover, or cast before attack if one blocker/engine prevents your clock.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {2}{W}; outputs temporary exile and enchantment count.
  • Partners / packages: Pairs with Gremlin Tamer, All That Glitters, Ethereal Armor, Web Up, Trapped in the Screen, and Chains of Custody.
  • Role peers: Web Up also exiles target nonland permanent an opponent controls; Trapped in the Screen hits artifact, creature, or enchantment with ward {2}; Journey to Nowhere is cheaper but creature-only.
  • Failure modes: If Banishing Light leaves, the exiled permanent returns; do not use on a trivial permanent if a planeswalker, artifact engine, or enchantment lock is visible.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong universal answer versus midrange and permanent combo; vulnerable to enchantment removal.

Journey to Nowhere

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; efficient creature exile enchantment.
  • Role type: interaction-removal.
  • Deck-specific job: Exiles target creature until Journey to Nowhere leaves the battlefield, providing cheap clean removal while triggering enchantment synergies.
  • Timing: Use on the creature that changes the next combat, especially opposing commanders or blockers preventing a lethal aura attack.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{W}; outputs temporary creature exile and enchantment count.
  • Partners / packages: Supports Gremlin Tamer, Ethereal Armor, All That Glitters, Banishing Light, Web Up, and Chains of Custody.
  • Role peers: Frogify/Witness Protection leave a body; Planar Disruption stops attacking/blocking; Banishing Light hits nonland permanents.
  • Failure modes: Leaves-the-battlefield trigger returns the exiled card under its owner's control; cannot target noncreature permanents.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: High priority versus creature commanders, lifelink blockers, and lethal attackers.

Summon: Choco/Mog

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; enchantment creature Saga and repeat combat pump.
  • Role type: threat/clock; engine payoff.
  • Deck-specific job: Enters as a 3/3 enchantment creature Saga and on chapters I, II, III, and IV gives other creatures you control +1/+0 until end of turn, then sacrifices after IV.
  • Timing: Cast when you have multiple other creatures or Gremlin tokens to benefit; less urgent when only Summon: Choco/Mog can attack.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {2}{W}; outputs a 3/3 enchantment creature and four temporary team-pump chapter triggers for other creatures.
  • Partners / packages: Scales with Gremlin Tamer tokens, Grand Entryway // Elegant Rotunda's Glimmer, Glimmerburst's Glimmer, Soul Warden, Soul's Attendant, Suture Priest, and Answered Prayers.
  • Role peers: On the Job gives one larger instant pump plus a Clue; Stormcaller's Boon gives flying once; Eagles of the North gives +1/+0 and first strike on entry.
  • Failure modes: Does not pump itself; sacrificing after IV can reduce board material and enchantment count.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong in board stalls and go-wide races; weak when the opponent controls sweepers or removal for the rest of your board.

Fanatical Devotion

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; enchantment sacrifice outlet and regeneration engine.
  • Role type: protection/evasion; engine piece.
  • Deck-specific job: Sacrifices a creature to regenerate target creature, protecting Gremlin Tamer or a loaded carrier from destruction.
  • Timing: Deploy before all-in aura turns when you have expendable creatures; activate before a destruction event so the shield replaces destruction, taps the creature, removes damage, and removes it from combat.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {2}{W}; activation consumes a creature and outputs a regeneration shield for target creature.
  • Partners / packages: Sacrifice material includes Gremlin tokens from Gremlin Tamer, Grand Entryway // Elegant Rotunda's Glimmer, Glimmerburst's Glimmer, Spirited Companion, and Soul Warden when expendable.
  • Role peers: Hyena Umbra and Dog Umbra protect one attached creature from destruction; Angelic Renewal rebuilds after death; Rootborn Defenses gives indestructible teamwide.
  • Failure modes: Regeneration does not stop exile, bounce, sacrifice, toughness reduction, or destruction effects that say the creature cannot be regenerated.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Excellent against destroy removal and combat trades; poor versus edicts and exile-based control.

Benevolent Blessing

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; flash protective Aura.
  • Role type: protection/evasion; role glue.
  • Deck-specific job: As it enters, choose a color; enchanted creature has protection from that color, and the effect does not remove Auras and Equipment you control already attached to it.
  • Timing: Hold for removal, combat, or a lethal attack where chosen-color protection matters; main-phase only to force through blockers of a known color.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{W}; outputs color protection on one creature and an enchantment entry.
  • Partners / packages: Protects Gremlin Tamer, All That Glitters carriers, Ethereal Armor carriers, Steel of the Godhead carriers, and Security Bypass carriers.
  • Role peers: Pentarch Ward chooses a color and draws but lacks flash; Family Reunion grants all your creatures hexproof for a turn; Sejiri Steppe grants temporary protection on land entry.
  • Failure modes: Protection can make future Auras of the chosen color illegal if not already attached, except it does not remove your already attached Auras/Equipment.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong against color-based removal and blockers; less useful against colorless removal, edicts, sweepers, and sacrifice effects.

Chains of Custody

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; removal Aura that also shields your creature.
  • Role type: interaction-removal; protection/evasion.
  • Deck-specific job: Enchants a creature you control, exiles target nonland permanent an opponent controls until Chains of Custody leaves, and gives the enchanted creature ward {2}.
  • Timing: Cast when you have a durable friendly creature and a meaningful opposing nonland permanent; ideal on a carrier that benefits from ward.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {2}{W}, your creature target, and opponent nonland permanent target; outputs temporary exile and ward {2}.
  • Partners / packages: Strong with Gremlin Tamer, Hyena Umbra, Dog Umbra, Pentarch Ward, All That Glitters, and Ethereal Armor.
  • Role peers: Banishing Light and Web Up do not require your creature; Trapped in the Screen has ward itself; Benevolent Blessing protects with color protection.
  • Failure modes: If the enchanted creature or Aura leaves, the exiled permanent returns; cannot be cast without a creature you control.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Excellent against midrange permanents when you already have a carrier; awkward after sweepers.

Cartouche of Knowledge

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; blue evasive cantrip Aura.
  • Role type: protection/evasion; card selection; threat/clock.
  • Deck-specific job: Enchants a creature you control, draws a card on entry, and gives +1/+1 plus flying.
  • Timing: Cast when a creature can become an evasive carrier immediately, or when drawing while adding enchantment count is worth the target risk.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{U}; outputs one card, +1/+1, flying, and an enchantment entry.
  • Partners / packages: Best with Gremlin Tamer, Ethereal Armor, All That Glitters, Ophidian Eye, Sigil of Sleep, and Security Bypass.
  • Role peers: Steel of the Godhead gives color-dependent unblockability/lifelink; Security Bypass grants single-attacker unblockable and connive; Ophidian Eye gives repeat draw if damage connects.
  • Failure modes: Requires a creature you control; if the target is removed in response, the Aura fails and the draw does not happen.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong against ground stalls; risky into instant-speed removal on the only creature.

Ior Ruin Expedition

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; slow enchantment draw engine.
  • Role type: engine piece; card selection.
  • Deck-specific job: Gains quest counters from landfall, then removes three counters and sacrifices itself to draw two cards.
  • Timing: Best early before fetch named lands or bounce-land sequencing; weak if you need immediate removal or a body.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{U}; outputs future draw two after three named lands enter under your control, at the cost of sacrificing itself.
  • Partners / packages: Works with Evolving Wilds, Terramorphic Expanse, Escape Tunnel, Vibrant Cityscape, Azorius Chancery replay sequencing, and normal land drops.
  • Role peers: Omen of the Sea draws immediately; Lórien Revealed draws three for {3}{U}{U}; The Fair Basilica and The Surgical Bay can sacrifice to draw.
  • Failure modes: Too slow when land drops are scarce or life total is under pressure; sacrificing lowers enchantment count.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Good in control/midrange; sideboard out often against burn, fast aggro, or combo.

Angelic Renewal

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; death-trigger enchantment rebuild tool.
  • Role type: recursion; protection/evasion.
  • Deck-specific job: When a creature is put into your graveyard from the battlefield, you may sacrifice Angelic Renewal to return that card to the battlefield.
  • Timing: Deploy before committing Gremlin Tamer or a loaded carrier; save the trigger for the creature whose return changes the game.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{W}; later consumes Angelic Renewal to output the dying creature back to battlefield.
  • Partners / packages: Best with Gremlin Tamer, Transcendent Envoy, Starnheim Courser, Spirited Companion, and Return Triumphant as a broader rebuild plan.
  • Role peers: Return Triumphant returns mana value 3 or less from graveyard at sorcery speed; Fanatical Devotion prevents destruction through regeneration.
  • Failure modes: Only triggers if the creature goes to your graveyard; exile, bounce, command-zone replacement, or token death may not produce the intended return.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong against destroy removal and combat trades; weak against exile or graveyard hate such as opposing Relic of Progenitus.

Seal of Removal

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; preloaded blue creature bounce enchantment.
  • Role type: interaction-removal; protection/evasion; role glue.
  • Deck-specific job: Enters as an enchantment, then sacrifices to return target creature to its owner's hand at the key tempo moment.
  • Timing: Cast early if holding up future bounce matters; sacrifice before damage, in response to an Aura/equipment investment, or to clear a blocker for lethal.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {U}; activation sacrifices Seal of Removal and outputs one creature bounce.
  • Partners / packages: Enables Gremlin Tamer attacks, Moon-Circuit Hacker ninjutsu setups, Security Bypass clock protection, and Sigil of Sleep tempo plans.
  • Role peers: Hoodwink bounces artifact, enchantment, or land; Sigil of Sleep repeats bounce through combat damage; Gossamer Chains prevents one unblocked creature's damage.
  • Failure modes: Temporary answer only; sacrificing lowers enchantment count and may shrink Ethereal Armor or All That Glitters.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong versus Voltron, ninjutsu windows, and expensive commanders; weaker against cheap enter-the-battlefield creatures.

Betrayal

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; opponent-creature tap punishment Aura.
  • Role type: engine piece; card selection; hate piece.
  • Deck-specific job: Enchants a creature an opponent controls and draws a card whenever that creature becomes tapped.
  • Timing: Use on a creature that must attack, tap for abilities, or be tapped by combat; avoid if the opponent can simply ignore the enchanted creature.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {U}; outputs future card draw tied to the opponent tapping that exact creature.
  • Partners / packages: Combines with Gossamer Chains, Planar Disruption alternatives, and removal decisions when you prefer drawing from a harmless attacker over removing it.
  • Role peers: Psychic Venom punishes a land becoming tapped; Spreading Seas replaces itself immediately; Omen of the Sea draws without opponent cooperation.
  • Failure modes: Does not stop damage or abilities; fails if the enchanted creature stays untapped or leaves battlefield.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Better against tap-ability commanders and forced attackers; poor against control, spell combo, and go-wide boards.

The Modern Age // Vector Glider

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; blue Saga/enchantment creature value card with incomplete reference metadata.
  • Role type: card selection; threat/clock; engine fuel/material.
  • Deck-specific job: Existing strategy treats it as setup and later carrier material, but the Card Reference lacks exact Oracle chapter text, stats, and transformation timing.
  • Timing: Use when Veles exposes legal Saga actions or creature status; do not assume exact draw/discard, transform, or combat stats beyond runtime-visible actions.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{U} for The Modern Age; likely outputs selection and eventually Vector Glider, but exact resource flow is limited by missing metadata.
  • Mode map: Front face is The Modern Age, an Enchantment — Saga; back face is Vector Glider, an Enchantment Creature — Spirit. Exact chapter/aspect text is missing in the provided Card Reference.
  • Partners / packages: Strategy context pairs it with Gremlin Tamer, All That Glitters, Ethereal Armor, Security Bypass, and Moon-Circuit Hacker as setup or carrier when legal.
  • Role peers: Spirited Companion has confirmed immediate draw; Omen of the Sea has confirmed scry/draw; Cartouche of Knowledge has confirmed Aura draw.
  • Failure modes: Missing reference metadata prevents exact claims about chapter count, discard agency, stats, and transform timing.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Treat as slower value unless Veles shows Vector Glider is available to attack, block, or carry Auras.

Web Up

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; broad white temporary exile enchantment.
  • Role type: interaction-removal.
  • Deck-specific job: Exiles target nonland permanent an opponent controls until Web Up leaves the battlefield.
  • Timing: Save for the nonland permanent that narrower answers miss, especially if a blocker, engine, or protection permanent invalidates your carrier.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {2}{W}; outputs temporary exile and enchantment count.
  • Partners / packages: Works with Gremlin Tamer, Ethereal Armor, All That Glitters, Banishing Light, Trapped in the Screen, and Journey to Nowhere.
  • Role peers: Banishing Light has identical target class in the reference; Trapped in the Screen hits artifact, creature, or enchantment and has ward {2}; Journey to Nowhere is creature-only.
  • Failure modes: If Web Up leaves, the exiled permanent returns; do not use it on a low-impact permanent when a must-answer commander or engine is visible.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong versus single threats, planeswalkers, artifacts, enchantments, and midrange engines.

Soul Barrier

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; creature-spell tax/punisher enchantment.
  • Role type: hate piece; engine piece.
  • Deck-specific job: Whenever an opponent casts a creature spell, Soul Barrier deals 2 damage to that player unless they pay {2}, taxing creature-heavy development.
  • Timing: Cast before the opponent's creature-spell turns; weak once they already have the board or enough spare mana.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {2}{U}; outputs either opponent life loss or mana taxation on each opposing creature spell.
  • Partners / packages: Supports racing with Gremlin Tamer, Security Bypass, Steel of the Godhead, and Soul Warden/Suture Priest life buffers.
  • Role peers: Suture Priest punishes opponent creature entries; Psychic Venom punishes land tapping; Gossamer Chains punishes unblocked attacks by preventing damage.
  • Failure modes: Does not counter the creature spell; opponent chooses whether to pay {2}.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Good against creature-heavy decks low on mana; poor against control, combo, or artifact/enchantment-heavy decks.

Gossamer Chains

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; repeatable unblocked-creature combat prevention enchantment.
  • Role type: lifegain/stabilization; protection/evasion.
  • Deck-specific job: Returns itself to hand to prevent all combat damage from target unblocked creature this turn, preserving life while enabling future replay enchantment entries.
  • Timing: Hold on battlefield when one large unblocked attacker threatens survival; return before combat damage after attackers/blockers make a creature unblocked.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {W}{W}; activation returns Gossamer Chains to hand and outputs one-turn prevention from a target unblocked creature.
  • Mode map: Cast as a defensive enchantment; activate by returning it to hand for prevention, then potentially replay for another enchantment entry.
  • Partners / packages: Buys time for Gremlin Tamer, Soul Warden, Soul's Attendant, Suture Priest, and Steel of the Godhead races.
  • Role peers: Prismatic Strands prevents damage by chosen-color sources; Family Reunion can pump or grant hexproof; Rootborn Defenses grants indestructible but does not prevent damage to players.
  • Failure modes: Only targets an unblocked creature; cannot stop trample damage before blockers unless the creature is unblocked and legally targeted.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong versus single large attackers; weak versus many small attackers or noncombat damage.

Stormcaller's Boon

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; cascade enchantment and one-shot team flying.
  • Role type: modal utility; protection/evasion; reach/finisher.
  • Deck-specific job: Casts with cascade into a nonland card with lesser mana value, then can be sacrificed to give creatures you control flying until end of turn.
  • Timing: Cast when cascade tempo is acceptable and flying can later enable a decisive attack; sacrifice only when evasion changes damage or lethal math.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {2}{W}{U}; outputs cascade value, enchantment count, and a later sacrifice for team flying.
  • Mode map: Cast mode cascades and leaves an enchantment; activated sacrifice mode grants all your creatures flying until end of turn.
  • Partners / packages: Combines with Gremlin Tamer tokens, Grand Entryway // Elegant Rotunda's Glimmer, Summon: Choco/Mog, On the Job, and All That Glitters carriers.
  • Role peers: Cartouche of Knowledge gives one creature flying and a card; Steel of the Godhead can make blue creatures unblockable; Escape Tunnel makes one small creature unblockable.
  • Failure modes: Cascade can hit narrow cards at poor times; sacrificing lowers enchantment count.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong in stalled board states; slow against burn or fast combo.

Answered Prayers

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; lifegain enchantment that temporarily becomes an attacker.
  • Role type: lifegain/stabilization; engine payoff; threat/clock.
  • Deck-specific job: Whenever a creature you control enters, you gain 1 life; if Answered Prayers is not a creature, it becomes a 3/3 Angel with flying until end of turn.
  • Timing: Cast before creature/token sequences; strongest when Gremlin Tamer, Grand Entryway // Elegant Rotunda, Glimmerburst, or Summon: Choco/Mog will create bodies.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{W}{W}; outputs life from your creature entries and temporary 3/3 flying attacks/blocks during those turns.
  • Partners / packages: Works with Gremlin Tamer tokens, Spirited Companion, Soul Warden, Soul's Attendant, Suture Priest, Glimmerburst, and Grand Entryway // Elegant Rotunda.
  • Role peers: Soul Warden and Soul's Attendant are cheaper creature-entry lifegain pieces; Suture Priest also drains opponents; Steel of the Godhead gives lifelink to white carriers.
  • Failure modes: Does not trigger on opponent creatures; may not remain a creature outside the turn it triggers.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong against creature races and token boards; slow versus removal-heavy control.

Psychic Venom

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; land-punishment Aura.
  • Role type: hate piece; reach/finisher.
  • Deck-specific job: Enchants a land and deals 2 damage to that land's controller whenever the enchanted land becomes tapped.
  • Timing: Use on a land the opponent must tap repeatedly, especially a key color source or utility land; avoid if they can leave it unused.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{U}; outputs repeat damage tied to one land tapping.
  • Partners / packages: Pairs with Spreading Seas and Imprisoned in the Moon as land-focused disruption, though each affects named lands differently.
  • Role peers: Betrayal punishes an opponent creature becoming tapped; Soul Barrier taxes creature spells; Lonely Arroyo deals one immediate damage to target opponent on entry.
  • Failure modes: Does not stop mana production or land abilities; opponent controls whether tapping is worth 2 damage.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Better versus greedy mana, big mana, or repeated utility lands; poor against fast creature decks and decks with many spare lands.

Ocular Halo

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; tap-to-draw Aura with vigilance support.
  • Role type: engine piece; card selection; protection/evasion.
  • Deck-specific job: Gives enchanted creature "{T}: Draw a card" and lets you pay {W} to give that creature vigilance until end of turn, helping a carrier attack and still tap for a card.
  • Timing: Cast on a creature likely to survive; use vigilance before attacking when you also want to draw after combat or keep a blocker.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {3}{U}; outputs repeat card draw via tapping the creature and optional {W} for vigilance.
  • Mode map: Static granted tap ability draws; activated {W} ability grants vigilance to the enchanted creature for the turn.
  • Partners / packages: Best with Gremlin Tamer, Steel of the Godhead, Security Bypass, Cartouche of Knowledge, and Hyena Umbra-protected carriers.
  • Role peers: Ophidian Eye draws from combat damage; Moon-Circuit Hacker draws on combat damage; Spirited Companion draws once on entry.
  • Failure modes: Four mana is slow; tapping the creature can conflict with attacking or blocking if vigilance is not available.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong in attrition; poor under immediate pressure or against instant removal.

Veil of Birds

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; cheap enchantment that becomes a flying creature after opponent casts a spell.
  • Role type: threat/clock; engine fuel/material; role glue.
  • Deck-specific job: Starts as an enchantment for Gremlin Tamer and enchantment count, then becomes a 1/1 Bird creature with flying when an opponent casts a spell if it is still an enchantment.
  • Timing: Cast early when you want enchantment density and a future evasive carrier; do not rely on it becoming a creature before the opponent casts a spell.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {U}; outputs enchantment count now and a 1/1 flying body after the trigger condition.
  • Partners / packages: Can carry All That Glitters, Ethereal Armor, Cartouche of Knowledge, Ophidian Eye, and Security Bypass after it becomes a creature.
  • Role peers: Opal Gargoyle becomes a 2/2 flyer when an opponent casts a creature spell; Transcendent Envoy is always a flying enchantment creature.
  • Failure modes: If removed before the opponent casts a spell, it never becomes a creature; as a 1/1 it is fragile.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Good against spell-heavy decks that trigger it quickly; slow when the opponent develops with abilities or already has board control.

Pentarch Ward

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; protective cantrip Aura.
  • Role type: protection/evasion; card selection.
  • Deck-specific job: As it enters choose a color, draw a card, and give enchanted creature protection from the chosen color; this effect does not remove Pentarch Ward.
  • Timing: Cast when the chosen color protects a key creature from blockers or removal and drawing a card offsets target risk.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {2}{W}; outputs one card, color protection, and enchantment count.
  • Partners / packages: Protects Gremlin Tamer, All That Glitters carriers, Ethereal Armor carriers, Steel of the Godhead carriers, and Security Bypass carriers.
  • Role peers: Benevolent Blessing has flash and preserves your already attached Auras/Equipment; Sejiri Steppe gives temporary protection; Family Reunion gives team hexproof for one turn.
  • Failure modes: Protection from a color can make future Auras of that color illegal; choose color based on visible blockers/removal, not habit.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong against mono-color creature decks and targeted removal; weak versus colorless, edict, and sweeper effects.

Opal Gargoyle

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; enchantment that becomes a flying creature against creature spells.
  • Role type: threat/clock; engine fuel/material.
  • Deck-specific job: Starts as an enchantment, then becomes a 2/2 Gargoyle creature with flying when an opponent casts a creature spell if it is still an enchantment.
  • Timing: Cast early against creature decks where the opponent is likely to trigger it; otherwise treat as enchantment count until it wakes up.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{W}; outputs enchantment count now and a 2/2 flying body after the trigger.
  • Partners / packages: Becomes a carrier for All That Glitters, Ethereal Armor, Steel of the Godhead if color-relevant, Cartouche of Knowledge, and Ophidian Eye.
  • Role peers: Veil of Birds triggers on any opponent spell and becomes 1/1 flying; Transcendent Envoy is an immediate 1/2 flying enchantment creature.
  • Failure modes: If the opponent is not casting creature spells, it remains noncreature; do not plan blocks before it transforms.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong against creature-heavy decks; weak against control and spell combo.

Spreading Seas

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; land Aura cantrip and mana disruption.
  • Role type: card selection; interaction-removal; hate piece.
  • Deck-specific job: Enchants a named land, draws a card on entry, and makes that land an Island.
  • Timing: Use when replacing itself while disrupting a key color or utility land matters; avoid turning on opposing blue requirements unless the disruption is worth it.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{U}; outputs one card, enchantment count, and land-type/mana alteration on the enchanted named land.
  • Partners / packages: Works with Gremlin Tamer, Ethereal Armor, All That Glitters, Psychic Venom, Imprisoned in the Moon, and Hoodwink.
  • Role peers: Psychic Venom punishes tapping without changing land type; Imprisoned in the Moon removes abilities and makes a colorless land; Hoodwink temporarily bounces a named land.
  • Failure modes: Does not destroy the land; can give the opponent blue mana if that matters.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong against greedy mana, utility lands, and big-mana setups; low impact versus decks already using Islands or spare mana.

Family Reunion

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; two-mode instant pump or hexproof shield.
  • Role type: modal utility; protection/evasion; reach/finisher.
  • Deck-specific job: Either gives creatures you control +1/+1 until end of turn or gives creatures you control hexproof until end of turn.
  • Timing: Hold for a lethal/survival combat step or targeted interaction; do not fire pump when hexproof is needed to protect the carrier.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{W}; outputs either temporary team stats or protection from opponents' targeted spells/abilities.
  • Mode map: Pump mode raises combat damage and toughness for your creatures; hexproof mode stops opponents from targeting your creatures for the turn but does not counter already legal non-targeting effects.
  • Partners / packages: Protects Gremlin Tamer, All That Glitters carriers, Ethereal Armor carriers, Gremlin tokens, and Glimmerburst's Glimmer.
  • Role peers: Rootborn Defenses gives indestructible and populate; Your Temple Is Under Attack gives indestructible or mutual draw; Prismatic Strands prevents damage after sideboard.
  • Failure modes: Hexproof does not stop sweepers, sacrifice, or combat damage; pump may be too small versus lethal crackback.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong against targeted removal and combat races; weaker against edicts and non-targeting sweepers.

Thraben Charm

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; three-mode instant interaction.
  • Role type: modal utility; interaction-removal; hate piece.
  • Deck-specific job: Deals damage equal to twice the number of creatures you control to target creature, destroys target enchantment, or exiles any number of target players' graveyards.
  • Timing: Use creature-damage mode when your creature count kills a key attacker/blocker; hold enchantment or graveyard modes for visible high-value targets.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{W}; outputs creature damage, enchantment destruction, or graveyard exile depending on mode.
  • Mode map: Damage mode targets a creature and scales with your creature count; enchantment mode destroys target enchantment; graveyard mode targets players and exiles those players' graveyards.
  • Partners / packages: Damage scales with Gremlin Tamer tokens, Grand Entryway // Elegant Rotunda's Glimmer, Glimmerburst's Glimmer, Soul Warden, and Suture Priest.
  • Role peers: Focus Fire hits attacking/blocking creatures based on creatures and/or Spacecraft; Seal of Cleansing destroys artifact or enchantment; Relic of Progenitus is repeatable graveyard pressure.
  • Failure modes: Damage mode can fail if creature count is too low; graveyard exile after costs are paid does not undo an already-cast flashback/delve spell.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Flexible versus creature, enchantment, and graveyard decks.

Rootborn Defenses

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; team indestructible and populate instant.
  • Role type: protection/evasion; mechanic enabler.
  • Deck-specific job: Gives creatures you control indestructible until end of turn and populates, copying a creature token you control.
  • Timing: Hold for sweepers, lethal combat, or a blowout block; use populate only when a token such as a Gremlin or Glimmer is worth copying.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {2}{W}; outputs team indestructible and one copied creature token if you control a creature token.
  • Partners / packages: Copies Gremlin Tamer's 1/1 red Gremlin tokens, Grand Entryway // Elegant Rotunda's 1/1 white Glimmer enchantment creature token, or Glimmerburst's Glimmer token.
  • Role peers: Your Temple Is Under Attack gives indestructible or mutual draw; Family Reunion grants hexproof or +1/+1; Prismatic Strands prevents damage by chosen-color sources.
  • Failure modes: Indestructible does not stop exile, bounce, sacrifice, -toughness, or Auras falling off; populate does nothing without a creature token.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong versus combat damage and destroy sweepers; weak versus edicts and exile removal.

Fate Foretold

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; cantrip Aura and death-card insurance.
  • Role type: card selection; recursion; role glue.
  • Deck-specific job: Draws a card when it enters, then the enchanted creature's controller draws a card when that creature dies.
  • Timing: Use on your resilient or expendable creature when immediate draw matters; avoid enchanting an opposing creature unless giving its controller a future card is acceptable.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{U}; outputs one card now and a future death draw for the enchanted creature's controller.
  • Partners / packages: Good on Spirited Companion, Gremlin Tamer with protection, Moon-Circuit Hacker, or a creature likely to be sacrificed to Fanatical Devotion.
  • Role peers: Cartouche of Knowledge draws and grants flying; Pentarch Ward draws and protects; Omen of the Sea draws without target risk.
  • Failure modes: If placed on an opponent's creature, the opponent draws when it dies; if target is removed in response, the Aura fails.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Good in attrition; risky when every card of advantage for the opponent matters.

Your Temple Is Under Attack

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; modal instant protection or mutual draw.
  • Role type: modal utility; protection/evasion; card selection.
  • Deck-specific job: Choose Pray for Protection to give creatures you control indestructible until end of turn, or Strike a Deal for you and target opponent to each draw two cards.
  • Timing: Prefer Pray for Protection against lethal combat or destroy effects; use Strike a Deal only when the two cards help you more than the chosen opponent.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {2}{W}; outputs team indestructible or two cards for you plus two for target opponent.
  • Mode map: Pray for Protection protects your creatures from destruction; Strike a Deal targets an opponent and gives both of you two cards.
  • Partners / packages: Protects Gremlin Tamer, loaded aura carriers, Gremlin tokens, and Glimmer tokens; draw mode digs for Benevolent Blessing, Journey to Nowhere, or All That Glitters.
  • Role peers: Rootborn Defenses adds populate; Family Reunion offers hexproof or pump; Glimmerburst draws two without helping opponent and makes a Glimmer.
  • Failure modes: Indestructible does not stop exile/bounce/sacrifice; Strike a Deal can hand the opponent the answer.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Protection mode shines versus combat and destroy sweepers; draw mode is for attrition when opponent cards are less dangerous.

Eagles of the North

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; Plainscycling fixer and late flying pump creature.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp; threat/clock; modal utility.
  • Deck-specific job: Early it Plainscycles for a registered Plains-type card; late it is a 3/3 flyer that gives creatures you control +1/+0 and first strike on entry.
  • Timing: Plainscycle when missing white mana or land drops; cast only when six mana is available and the team pump or flyer matters.
  • Inputs / outputs: Cycling consumes {1}, discards Eagles, searches your library for a Plains card, reveals it, puts it into hand, then shuffles; casting consumes {5}{W}.
  • Mode map: Plainscycling mode fixes mana without drawing; creature mode creates a flying body and a one-turn team combat boost.
  • Partners / packages: Searches registered Plains and can find Plains-type cards only if present in library; with the provided list, basic Plains is the clear named target.
  • Role peers: Lórien Revealed Islandcycles for Island; Ash Barrens basic landcycles for Plains or Island; On the Job pumps and investigates.
  • Failure modes: Do not hard-cast when cycling is needed to make early white; Plainscycling does not put the land onto battlefield.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Fixer in most openers; finisher in stalled creature boards.

On the Job

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; instant team pump plus Clue creation.
  • Role type: reach/finisher; card selection.
  • Deck-specific job: Gives creatures you control +2/+1 until end of turn and investigates, creating a Clue artifact with "{2}, Sacrifice this token: Draw a card."
  • Timing: Cast during combat when +2/+1 creates lethal, wins blocks, or saves attackers; otherwise preserve it until the pump changes math.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {2}{W}{W}; outputs temporary team damage/toughness and a Clue artifact draw resource.
  • Partners / packages: Strong with Gremlin Tamer tokens, Grand Entryway // Elegant Rotunda's Glimmer, Glimmerburst's Glimmer, Summon: Choco/Mog, and Rootborn Defenses.
  • Role peers: Family Reunion gives smaller pump or hexproof; Stormcaller's Boon gives flying; Eagles of the North gives +1/+0 and first strike on entry.
  • Failure modes: Four mana can be clunky; Clue draw costs {2} later and sacrificing it can shrink All That Glitters.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Best in go-wide or stalled combat; less useful when behind with no board.

Focus Fire

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; cheap instant combat-only creature damage.
  • Role type: interaction-removal.
  • Deck-specific job: Deals X damage to target attacking or blocking creature, where X is 2 plus the number of creatures and/or Spacecraft you control.
  • Timing: Hold for combat; use when the target is attacking or blocking and your creature count makes X enough to kill or finish it.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {W}; outputs damage based on your creatures and/or Spacecraft count, not a shrink effect.
  • Partners / packages: Scales with Gremlin Tamer tokens, Spirited Companion, Grand Entryway // Elegant Rotunda's Glimmer, Glimmerburst's Glimmer, Soul Warden, and Suture Priest.
  • Role peers: Thraben Charm damages target creature for twice your creature count; Journey to Nowhere exiles outside combat; Seal of Removal bounces a creature.
  • Failure modes: Cannot target a nonattacking/nonblocking creature; damage may fail against high toughness or prevention.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong against creature combat and surprise blocks; dead against noncreature combo or idle utility creatures.

Starnheim Courser

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; flying cost reducer for artifact and enchantment spells.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp; threat/clock; role glue.
  • Deck-specific job: Reduces artifact and enchantment spells you cast by {1}, accelerating the deck's Auras, removal enchantments, Signets, and value enchantments.
  • Timing: Cast before a turn where the discount enables double-spelling; use as a flying carrier if the board needs evasive pressure.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {2}{W}; outputs a 2/2 flyer and generic cost reduction for artifact and enchantment spells.
  • Partners / packages: Discounts Arcane Signet, Azorius Signet, All That Glitters, Ethereal Armor, Banishing Light, Omen of the Sea, Web Up, and Trapped in the Screen.
  • Role peers: Transcendent Envoy discounts only Aura spells; Creeping Peeper taps for {U} only for enchantment spells, unlocking doors, or turning permanents face up.
  • Failure modes: Does not reduce instants, sorceries, or creature spells unless they are artifact/enchantment spells.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong in midrange/control; may be too slow versus immediate lethal pressure.

Flicker of Fate

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; instant blink for creature or enchantment.
  • Role type: protection/evasion; recursion; role glue.
  • Deck-specific job: Exiles target creature or enchantment, then returns it to the battlefield under its owner's control, saving or resetting key permanents.
  • Timing: Use in response to removal, to reset Banishing Light-style targets, reuse enter triggers, or remove an opposing Aura if the legal target/result helps.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{W}; outputs a blink of target creature or enchantment.
  • Partners / packages: Can reuse Spirited Companion draw, Omen of the Sea entry, Journey to Nowhere exile trigger, Banishing Light exile trigger, or save Gremlin Tamer from some targeted effects.
  • Role peers: Angelic Renewal returns a dying creature; Fanatical Devotion regenerates through destruction; Benevolent Blessing protects from a chosen color.
  • Failure modes: Blinking a creature drops Auras attached to it unless rules keep them legal after return; blinking removal enchantments can release and retarget threats.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong against targeted removal and for value resets; risky if the temporary exile opens a lethal window.

Hoodwink

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; instant bounce for artifact, enchantment, or named land.
  • Role type: interaction-removal; protection/evasion; tempo.
  • Deck-specific job: Returns target artifact, enchantment, or land permanent to its owner's hand, creating tempo or breaking opposing permanent setups.
  • Timing: Use at the last safe moment: before a key attack, in response to an Aura/equipment investment, or to deny a crucial land for a turn.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{U}; outputs temporary bounce of the target permanent class.
  • Partners / packages: Supports Gremlin Tamer attacks, All That Glitters clock turns, Psychic Venom land pressure, and Spreading Seas disruption.
  • Role peers: Seal of Removal bounces target creature; Flicker of Fate blinks creature or enchantment; Imprisoned in the Moon permanently alters creature, named land, or planeswalker while Aura remains.
  • Failure modes: Cannot bounce creatures unless they are also artifact/enchantment/land; the opponent can replay the card.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong versus Azorius Chancery-style bounce-land mana engines when visible, opposing Auras/enchantments, and artifact engines; weaker against low-cost artifacts, enchantments, or utility named lands named in this note.

Slumbering Keepguard

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; enchantment-entry scry payoff and late mana sink.
  • Role type: mechanic payoff; card selection; threat/clock.
  • Deck-specific job: Scries 1 whenever an enchantment you control enters, then can pay {2}{W} to get +1/+1 until end of turn for each enchantment you control.

  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {W}; outputs repeated scry from your enchantment entries and a scalable pump mana sink.
  • Partners / packages: Triggers from Gremlin Tamer support enchantments such as Conviction, Omen of the Sea, Frogify, Ethereal Armor, and Banishing Light.
  • Role peers: Gremlin Tamer makes tokens from enchantment entries; All That Glitters and Ethereal Armor convert enchantment count into stats.
  • Failure modes: A 1/1 dies easily before it can convert scry into value; pump requires substantial mana and enchantment count.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong in slow setup games; poor if early blockers/removal are mandatory.

Suture Priest

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; lifegain/drain creature for creature-entry races.
  • Role type: lifegain/stabilization; hate piece.
  • Deck-specific job: May gain 1 life whenever another creature you control enters, and may make an opponent lose 1 life whenever a creature they control enters.

  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{W}; outputs life from your creature entries and optional opponent life loss from their creature entries.
  • Partners / packages: Works with Gremlin Tamer tokens, Grand Entryway // Elegant Rotunda's Glimmer, Glimmerburst's Glimmer, Spirited Companion, and Summon: Choco/Mog.
  • Role peers: Soul Warden gains from any other creature entering; Soul's Attendant may gain from any other creature; Answered Prayers gains from your creature entries and becomes a 3/3 flyer.

  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Excellent against token and creature decks; lower impact against control or combo.

Creeping Peeper

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; blue enchantment-mana creature and possible carrier.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp; role glue.
  • Deck-specific job: Taps for {U} that can be spent only to cast an enchantment spell, unlock a door, or turn a permanent face up.

  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{U}; outputs restricted {U} and a 2/1 body.
  • Partners / packages: Helps cast Omen of the Sea, Frogify, Security Bypass, Ophidian Eye, Spreading Seas, Imprisoned in the Moon, and unlock Grand Entryway // Elegant Rotunda.
  • Role peers: Transcendent Envoy discounts Aura spells; Starnheim Courser discounts artifact and enchantment spells; Arcane Signet produces commander-color mana.
  • Failure modes: Mana cannot pay for instants, sorceries, commander tax, or non-enchantment creatures unless the spell/ability meets the restriction.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong in mana-hungry enchantment games; fragile versus removal and combat.

Soul Warden

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; one-mana lifegain creature.
  • Role type: lifegain/stabilization.

  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong versus go-wide and burn-adjacent races; low impact against creature-light combo.

Lunarch Veteran // Luminous Phantom

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; lifegain creature with incomplete reference metadata.
  • Role type: lifegain/stabilization; recursion.
  • Deck-specific job: Existing strategy treats Lunarch Veteran // Luminous Phantom as an early lifegain body and possible graveyard/backside value card, but exact Oracle text is missing from the Card Reference.
  • Timing: Cast front face when early creature-entry lifegain matters; use any backside/graveyard action only if Veles exposes the legal action and cost.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {W} for Lunarch Veteran; exact Luminous Phantom access, cost, stats, and trigger text are missing.
  • Mode map: Front face is Lunarch Veteran, Creature — Human Cleric; back face is Luminous Phantom, Creature — Spirit Cleric. Provided reference lacks exact rules for transforming, disturbing, or casting the back face.
  • Partners / packages: Strategy context pairs it with Gremlin Tamer tokens, Grand Entryway // Elegant Rotunda, Glimmerburst, Soul Warden, Soul's Attendant, Suture Priest, and Answered Prayers.
  • Role peers: Soul Warden and Soul's Attendant have confirmed creature-entry lifegain; Suture Priest has confirmed life gain/drain.
  • Failure modes: Missing reference metadata limits exact claims about Luminous Phantom timing, graveyard use, and exile/replacement behavior.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Treat as a stabilizer in creature races; do not assume backside availability without Veles legality.

Soul's Attendant

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; one-mana optional lifegain creature.
  • Role type: lifegain/stabilization.
  • Deck-specific job: May gain 1 life whenever another creature enters, letting you choose the trigger in case life-gain prevention or trigger timing matters.

  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {W}; outputs optional life from each other creature entering.
  • Partners / packages: Works with Gremlin Tamer tokens, Grand Entryway // Elegant Rotunda, Glimmerburst, Summon: Choco/Mog, and Answered Prayers.
  • Role peers: Soul Warden has nonoptional gain from any other creature; Suture Priest may gain from your creatures and may drain opponent creature entries.
  • Failure modes: Does not trigger from itself; optional triggers can be missed or declined when life is actually needed.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong against go-wide, aggro, and burn races; low impact versus noncombat combo.

Lórien Revealed

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; Islandcycling fixer and late draw spell.
  • Role type: card selection; mana/fixing/ramp; modal utility.
  • Deck-specific job: Early it Islandcycles for an Island card; late it draws three cards as a sorcery.

  • Mode map: Islandcycling discards Lórien Revealed, searches for an Island card, reveals it, puts it into hand, then shuffles; sorcery mode draws three cards.
  • Partners / packages: Searches registered Island and can support Omen of the Sea, Security Bypass, Seal of Removal, Hoodwink, Dispel, and Negate.
  • Role peers: Eagles of the North Plainscycles; Ash Barrens basic landcycles for Plains or Island; Glimmerburst draws two and makes a Glimmer.
  • Failure modes: Do not call cycling a draw trigger; hard-casting at sorcery speed can lose tempo against lethal pressure.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Fixer in land-light hands; powerful attrition card versus control.

Ash Barrens

  • Inputs / outputs: Taps for {C}; basic landcycling consumes {1}, discards Ash Barrens, searches for a basic land card, reveals it, puts it into hand, then shuffles.
  • Mode map: Land mode produces {C}; basic landcycling mode finds basic Plains or basic Island from this deck.

  • Inputs / outputs: Land mode provides white/blue; draw mode consumes four mana, tap, and Skybridge Towers to draw one card.
  • Mode map: Mana mode fixes colors; sacrifice draw mode converts a spare land into a card.
  • Partners / packages: Casts Gremlin Tamer, Omen of the Sea, Ethereal Armor, and Hoodwink; draw mode digs for protection/removal.
  • Role peers: The Fair Basilica draws for {1}{W}; The Surgical Bay draws for {1}{U}; Night Market cycles for {3}.
  • Failure modes: Enters tapped; sacrificing can reduce mana for commander tax or double-spell turns.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Good late-game mana sink; early tempo liability.

Skyline Cascade

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; tapped blue land with temporary freeze trigger.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp; interaction-removal.
  • Deck-specific job: Enters tapped, makes target creature an opponent controls not untap during its controller's next untap step, and taps for {U}.
  • Timing: Play when delaying one opposing creature matters, or when blue mana is needed and tempo loss is acceptable.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes tapped land drop and a target opponent creature; outputs future {U} and one-turn untap denial.
  • Partners / packages: Buys attack time for Gremlin Tamer, Security Bypass carrier setup, Journey to Nowhere timing, or Sigil of Sleep connections.
  • Role peers: Planar Disruption disables attacks/blocks longer; Seal of Removal bounces; Gossamer Chains prevents one unblocked creature's damage.
  • Failure modes: Needs a legal target creature for the trigger; tapped entry can strand immediate blue interaction.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong versus single attackers; lower value versus go-wide boards or creatureless decks.

Vibrant Cityscape

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; land-search utility card.
  • Role type: tutor/search; mana/fixing/ramp.
  • Deck-specific job: Taps and sacrifices to search for a basic land card, put it onto the battlefield tapped, then shuffle.
  • Timing: Use when you need Plains or Island fixing more than keeping the land itself.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes tap, sacrifice, and the land; outputs basic Plains or Island onto the battlefield tapped.
  • Partners / packages: Finds Plains for Ethereal Armor, Journey to Nowhere, and Benevolent Blessing; finds Island for Omen of the Sea, Seal of Removal, and Security Bypass.
  • Role peers: Evolving Wilds and Terramorphic Expanse perform the same basic-fetch role; Escape Tunnel can also grant unblockable instead.
  • Failure modes: Does not tap for mana per the provided Card Reference; do not treat it as a colorless or colored mana source before sacrificing.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Fixer in color-light hands; tempo cost matters when immediate interaction is needed.

Lonely Arroyo

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; tapped Azorius Desert with one damage on entry.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp; reach/finisher.
  • Deck-specific job: Enters tapped, deals 1 damage to target opponent, and taps for {W} or {U}.
  • Timing: Play early when tapped fixing is acceptable; late, entry damage can matter in exact lethal math.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes tapped land drop and a target opponent; outputs 1 damage and future white/blue mana.
  • Partners / packages: Supports Gremlin Tamer, Omen of the Sea, Journey to Nowhere, and Steel of the Godhead; combines with Psychic Venom/Soul Barrier chip pressure.
  • Role peers: Abandoned Campground fixes both colors with conditional untapped entry; Skybridge Towers fixes both colors and later draws; Command Tower is untapped.
  • Failure modes: Enters tapped and requires a target opponent for damage; one damage is not worth missing required interaction.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Useful in races and attrition; slow on turn one against fast starts.

The Fair Basilica

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; tapped white Sphere land with sacrifice draw.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp; card selection; modal utility.
  • Deck-specific job: Enters tapped, taps for {W}, and can pay {1}{W}, tap, and sacrifice to draw a card.
  • Timing: Play early for white; use draw mode late when white mana is plentiful and a fresh card beats keeping the named land.
  • Inputs / outputs: Land mode gives {W}; draw mode consumes {1}{W}, tap, and the land to draw one card.
  • Mode map: Mana mode supports white spells; sacrifice draw mode turns surplus land into card flow.
  • Partners / packages: Casts Ethereal Armor, All That Glitters, Journey to Nowhere, Fanatical Devotion, and Rootborn Defenses.
  • Role peers: The Surgical Bay is the blue version; Skybridge Towers draws for {2}{W}{U}; Secluded Steppe cycles for {W}.
  • Failure modes: Enters tapped; sacrificing can make commander recast or double-white cards harder.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Good late against control; early tempo risk versus aggro.

Sejiri Steppe

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; tapped white land with temporary protection trigger.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp; protection/evasion.
  • Deck-specific job: Enters tapped, gives target creature you control protection from the color of your choice until end of turn, and taps for {W}.
  • Timing: Play when the protection trigger can save a creature, force an attack through colored blockers, or blank targeted removal already constrained by timing.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes tapped land drop and a friendly creature target; outputs one-turn color protection and future {W}.
  • Partners / packages: Protects Gremlin Tamer, All That Glitters carriers, Ethereal Armor carriers, Steel of the Godhead carriers, and Security Bypass carriers.
  • Role peers: Benevolent Blessing is a flash Aura with chosen-color protection; Pentarch Ward protects and draws; Family Reunion grants team hexproof.
  • Failure modes: Enters tapped; protection can make same-color Auras illegal if you try to attach them later that turn.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong in combat or removal windows; low value without a creature.

The Surgical Bay

  • Deck role: Main, 1 copy; tapped blue Sphere land with sacrifice draw.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp; card selection; modal utility.
  • Deck-specific job: Enters tapped, taps for {U}, and can pay {1}{U}, tap, and sacrifice to draw a card.

  • Inputs / outputs: Land mode gives {U}; draw mode consumes {1}{U}, tap, and the land to draw one card.
  • Mode map: Mana mode supports blue spells; sacrifice draw mode trades land for card flow.
  • Partners / packages: Casts Omen of the Sea, Seal of Removal, Security Bypass, Hoodwink, and sideboard Dispel/Negate.
  • Role peers: The Fair Basilica is white draw land; Skybridge Towers fixes both colors and draws for four mana; Lonely Sandbar cycles for {U}.
  • Failure modes: Enters tapped; sacrificing can strand double-blue Lórien Revealed or stack interaction.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Good in long games; risky against tempo pressure.

Hydroblast

  • Deck role: Sideboard, 1 copy; red-specific instant answer.
  • Role type: sideboard bullet; interaction-stack; interaction-removal; modal utility.
  • Deck-specific job: Either counters target spell if it's red or destroys target permanent if it's red.
  • Timing: Bring in when red spells or red permanents affect the race; hold for red removal aimed at Gremlin Tamer, red burn, red sweepers, or a red permanent stopping attacks.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {U}; outputs stack interaction against a spell that is red on resolution or destruction of a red permanent.
  • Mode map: Counter mode targets a spell and counters it if it's red; destroy mode targets a permanent and destroys it if it's red.
  • Partners / packages: Protects Gremlin Tamer, All That Glitters carriers, Ethereal Armor carriers, Steel of the Godhead carriers, and Security Bypass carriers from red interaction.
  • Role peers: Blue Elemental Blast counters target red spell or destroys target red permanent with stricter red target wording; Dispel counters instants; Negate counters noncreature spells.
  • Failure modes: Dead against nonred cards; do not target a permanent or spell where redness is uncertain unless Veles confirms legality.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Bring versus red burn, red removal, red commanders, and red combo pieces.

Blue Elemental Blast

  • Deck role: Sideboard, 1 copy; red-specific instant answer.
  • Role type: sideboard bullet; interaction-stack; interaction-removal; modal utility.
  • Deck-specific job: Choose to counter target red spell or destroy target red permanent.
  • Timing: Use in the same matchups as Hydroblast, especially when a red stack card or red permanent directly threatens the carrier plan or life total.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {U}; outputs countering of a target red spell or destruction of a target red permanent.
  • Mode map: Counter mode requires target red spell; destroy mode requires target red permanent.
  • Partners / packages: Protects Gremlin Tamer, Benevolent Blessing turns, All That Glitters attacks, Ethereal Armor attacks, and Steel of the Godhead lifelink races.
  • Role peers: Hydroblast can target a spell/permanent and checks if it is red; Dispel handles instants regardless of color; Negate handles noncreature spells.
  • Failure modes: Cannot interact with nonred threats; do not bring in for decks with only incidental red unless red cards decide the game.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Excellent versus burn and red removal; poor versus colorless artifact decks or nonred creature swarms.

Dispel

  • Deck role: Sideboard, 1 copy; one-mana instant-only counterspell.
  • Role type: sideboard bullet; interaction-stack.
  • Deck-specific job: Counters target instant spell, protecting commitment turns from instant removal, counterspells, or combat tricks.
  • Timing: Hold while casting premium Auras or attacking with a loaded carrier; do not spend on a low-impact instant if a removal spell could follow.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {U}; outputs countering a spell on the stack only if it is an instant.
  • Partners / packages: Protects Gremlin Tamer, All That Glitters, Ethereal Armor, Steel of the Godhead, Security Bypass, Cartouche of Knowledge, and Ophidian Eye lines.
  • Role peers: Negate counters noncreature spells more broadly for {1}{U}; Hydroblast and Blue Elemental Blast answer red spells/permanents.
  • Failure modes: Cannot counter creatures, artifacts, enchantments, sorceries, or resolved permanents.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Bring against instant-speed removal, counterspell decks, and combat-trick decks; cut against board-only creature decks.

Negate

  • Deck role: Sideboard, 1 copy; broad noncreature stack interaction.
  • Role type: sideboard bullet; interaction-stack.
  • Deck-specific job: Counters target noncreature spell on the stack, covering removal, sweepers, artifacts, enchantments, planeswalkers, and combo spells before they resolve.
  • Timing: Hold for spells that break the carrier plan, stop your protection, or create an engine you cannot answer after resolution.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{U}; outputs countering a noncreature spell on the stack.
  • Partners / packages: Protects Gremlin Tamer, All That Glitters, Ethereal Armor, Steel of the Godhead, Security Bypass, and Fanatical Devotion setups.
  • Role peers: Dispel is cheaper but instant-only; Hydroblast and Blue Elemental Blast are red-specific; Seal of Cleansing answers artifacts/enchantments after resolution.
  • Failure modes: Cannot counter creature spells or resolved permanents; holding it forever can waste tempo against creature boards.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Bring versus control, combo, sweepers, artifact/enchantment engines, and noncreature removal-heavy decks.

Dust to Dust

  • Deck role: Sideboard, 1 copy; sorcery artifact exile two-for-one.
  • Role type: sideboard bullet; hate piece; interaction-removal.
  • Deck-specific job: Exiles two target artifacts, punishing artifact-dense boards, mana rocks, equipment, and artifact engines.
  • Timing: Bring in only when two meaningful artifact targets are likely; cast before artifacts convert into lethal pressure or locked resources.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{W}{W} at sorcery speed; outputs exile of two target artifacts.
  • Partners / packages: Complements Seal of Cleansing, Revoke Existence, Disenchant, Banishing Light, and Trapped in the Screen.
  • Role peers: Revoke Existence exiles one artifact or enchantment; Disenchant destroys one artifact or enchantment at instant speed; Seal of Cleansing stores a destroy effect.
  • Failure modes: Requires two target artifacts; sorcery speed can expose your aura carrier by tapping out.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Bring against affinity-style boards, artifact mana engines, and equipment-heavy decks; poor against one-artifact decks.

Prismatic Strands

  • Deck role: Sideboard, 1 copy; color-based damage prevention with flashback.
  • Role type: sideboard bullet; lifegain/stabilization; protection/evasion.
  • Deck-specific job: Prevents all damage that sources of the chosen color would deal this turn, and can be cast from graveyard by tapping an untapped white creature you control, then exiled.
  • Timing: Use for lethal combat, burn turns, or a swing-back setup; flashback when a white creature can be tapped without losing survival.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {2}{W} from hand, or flashback taps an untapped white creature you control from graveyard; outputs one-turn damage prevention by chosen color.
  • Mode map: Hand-cast mode uses mana; flashback mode casts from graveyard by tapping an untapped white creature you control, then exiles Prismatic Strands.
  • Partners / packages: White creatures include Gremlin Tamer, Spirited Companion, Transcendent Envoy, Soul Warden, Soul's Attendant, Suture Priest, Starnheim Courser, and Eagles of the North.
  • Role peers: Family Reunion gives hexproof or pump; Rootborn Defenses gives indestructible; Your Temple Is Under Attack gives indestructible or mutual draw.
  • Failure modes: Does not stop non-damage effects, sacrifice, exile, bounce, or sources of colors you did not choose.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Bring versus red burn, go-wide combat, and color-concentrated creature decks.

Standard Bearer

  • Deck role: Sideboard, 1 copy; Flagbearer target-redirection pressure.
  • Role type: sideboard bullet; hate piece; protection/evasion.
  • Deck-specific job: While an opponent chooses targets for a spell or ability they control, they must choose at least one Flagbearer on the battlefield if able.
  • Timing: Deploy before the opponent's targeted removal, pump, Auras, or combat tricks matter; it is strongest when the opponent must target creatures.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{W}; outputs a 1/1 Flagbearer that distorts opponent target choices.
  • Partners / packages: Protects non-hexproof plans around Gremlin Tamer, Transcendent Envoy, Starnheim Courser, Moon-Circuit Hacker, and Slumbering Keepguard by forcing opponent target choices when legal.
  • Role peers: Benevolent Blessing protects one creature by color; Pentarch Ward protects and draws; Dispel/Negate counter spells on the stack.
  • Failure modes: Does not stop untargeted sweepers, edicts, or abilities that cannot legally target Standard Bearer; it can also interfere in Aura mirrors by changing legal target pressure.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Bring versus targeted removal, pump, Auras, and combat tricks; weak versus non-targeting control.

Relic of Progenitus

  • Deck role: Sideboard, 1 copy; graveyard hate artifact with cantrip mode.
  • Role type: sideboard bullet; hate piece; card selection.
  • Deck-specific job: Taps to make target player exile a card from their graveyard, or pays {1} and exiles Relic to exile all graveyards and draw a card.
  • Timing: Deploy early versus graveyard engines; use the small activation before payoff turns, and save full exile for when graveyards materially enable the opponent.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}; tap mode targets a player, and that player chooses a card from their graveyard to exile; full mode consumes {1} and Relic to exile all graveyards and draw.
  • Mode map: Incremental mode pressures one target player's graveyard by their choice; full mode clears every graveyard and replaces itself.
  • Partners / packages: Be careful with your Angelic Renewal, Return Triumphant, and Lunarch Veteran // Luminous Phantom graveyard lines.
  • Role peers: Thraben Charm exiles any number of target players' graveyards once; Negate/Dispel can fight graveyard payoff spells on the stack.
  • Failure modes: Exiling after flashback/delve costs are paid usually does not undo the spell already cast.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Bring versus flashback, delve, escape, recursion, and graveyard combo.

Revoke Existence

  • Deck role: Sideboard, 1 copy; sorcery artifact/enchantment exile.
  • Role type: sideboard bullet; hate piece; interaction-removal.
  • Deck-specific job: Exiles target artifact or enchantment, permanently answering pieces that destruction may not handle well.
  • Timing: Bring in when exile matters or artifact/enchantment engines are central; cast before the permanent generates irreversible value.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{W} at sorcery speed; outputs exile of one target artifact or enchantment.
  • Partners / packages: Complements Seal of Cleansing, Disenchant, Dust to Dust, Thraben Charm, Banishing Light, and Trapped in the Screen.
  • Role peers: Disenchant is instant but destroys; Dust to Dust exiles two artifacts only; Seal of Cleansing is preloaded destroy.
  • Failure modes: Sorcery timing cannot answer a combat trick or activated combo at instant speed; cannot target creatures unless they are artifact or enchantment.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Bring versus indestructible artifacts/enchantments, recursion engines, prison pieces, and opposing Auras/equipment.

Disenchant

  • Deck role: Sideboard, 1 copy; instant artifact/enchantment destroy effect.
  • Role type: sideboard bullet; interaction-removal; hate piece.
  • Deck-specific job: Destroys target artifact or enchantment at instant speed, letting you answer equipment, Auras, engine pieces, or lock permanents at the last safe moment.
  • Timing: Hold when instant speed changes combat or combo timing; cast proactively only if the permanent already blocks your plan.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{W}; outputs destruction of one target artifact or enchantment.
  • Partners / packages: Complements Seal of Cleansing, Revoke Existence, Dust to Dust, Thraben Charm, Banishing Light, and Web Up.
  • Role peers: Revoke Existence exiles at sorcery speed; Seal of Cleansing stores a destroy effect as an enchantment; Dust to Dust exiles two artifacts.
  • Failure modes: Destruction may fail against indestructible or recursion plans where exile is required; cannot hit nonartifact creatures or nonenchantment permanents.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Bring versus equipment, Auras, artifact/enchantment engines, and lock pieces where timing matters.

Plains

  • Deck role: Main, 5 copies; primary white basic mana resource.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp.
  • Deck-specific job: Supplies untapped white mana for Gremlin Tamer, Ethereal Armor, All That Glitters, Journey to Nowhere, Benevolent Blessing, Conviction, Angelic Renewal, and Dust to Dust, Revoke Existence, Disenchant, Prismatic Strands, Standard Bearer, or Thraben Charm after sideboarding.
  • Timing: Prioritize early when white one- and two-mana plays are in hand; fetch with Eagles of the North, Ash Barrens, Escape Tunnel, Evolving Wilds, Terramorphic Expanse, or The Fair Basilica when white is the bottleneck.
  • Inputs / outputs: Uses a land play or basic-search effect; outputs {W} without entering tapped when played naturally.
  • Partners / packages: Supports Gremlin Tamer aura turns with Ethereal Armor, All That Glitters, Cartouche of Knowledge, Security Bypass, and Steel of the Godhead by paying the white side of the curve.
  • Role peers: Command Tower and Azorius Chancery also supply white; Secluded Steppe and Drifting Meadow supply white but enter tapped and can cycle.
  • Failure modes: Too many Plains can strand blue interaction such as Omen of the Sea, Seal of Removal, Hoodwink, Dispel, and Negate.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Best in openers with white Auras or removal; fetch Island instead when blue protection or bounce is the missing color.

Island

  • Deck role: Main, 4 copies; primary blue basic mana resource.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp.
  • Deck-specific job: Supplies untapped blue mana for Omen of the Sea, Security Bypass, Seal of Removal, Hoodwink, Lórien Revealed, Dispel, Negate, Hydroblast, and Blue Elemental Blast.
  • Timing: Prioritize early when the hand needs blue selection, bounce, or stack interaction; fetch with Lórien Revealed, Ash Barrens, Escape Tunnel, Evolving Wilds, Terramorphic Expanse, or The Surgical Bay when blue is missing.
  • Inputs / outputs: Uses a land play or basic-search effect; outputs {U} without entering tapped when played naturally.
  • Partners / packages: Supports Gremlin Tamer aura-pressure turns by enabling Security Bypass, Cartouche of Knowledge, Sigil of Sleep, and blue protection or tempo while Plains covers white Auras.
  • Role peers: Command Tower and Azorius Chancery also supply blue; Lonely Sandbar, Remote Isle, Desert of the Mindful, and The Surgical Bay supply blue more slowly or with utility.
  • Failure modes: Too many Islands can strand white-heavy starts with Gremlin Tamer, Ethereal Armor, All That Glitters, Journey to Nowhere, or Benevolent Blessing.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Best when the opponent threatens stack interaction, bounce targets, or tempo races; fetch Plains instead when white removal or Aura pressure is missing.

Interaction Priorities

  • Stop opposing commanders first when they generate repeated damage, cards, mana, sacrifice value, or combat inevitability. Use Frogify, Witness Protection, Reprobation, Planar Disruption, Unable to Scream, Web Up, Trapped in the Screen, Imprisoned in the Moon, Journey to Nowhere, Banishing Light, or Chains of Custody according to the legal target text Veles exposes; do not assume an aura answers every permanent type.

  • Preserve hard answers for permanents that beat a single enchanted carrier. Banishing Light, Imprisoned in the Moon, Trapped in the Screen, Chains of Custody, Seal of Cleansing, Thraben Charm, Revoke Existence, Disenchant, Dust to Dust, and Negate should trade for blockers, engines, graveyard pieces, or noncreature permanents that prevent Gremlin Tamer from attacking profitably or staying attached.

  • Bounce at tempo-breaking moments rather than for small value. Seal of Removal and Hoodwink are best when they remove the only blocker before a lethal or draw-trigger attack, save Gremlin Tamer from targeted removal by returning the threatened object if legal, reset an opposing aura/equipment stack, or interrupt an attack that would force bad blocks.

  • Counter only cards that break the protected-carrier plan or produce immediate lethal pressure. Post-board, Dispel, Negate, Hydroblast, and Blue Elemental Blast should protect All That Glitters, Ethereal Armor, Steel of the Godhead, Security Bypass, Cartouche of Knowledge, Ophidian Eye, or Gremlin Tamer from visible stack interaction; do not spend them on low-impact setup while an opposing removal spell, sweeper-like effect, or commander payoff is still likely from visible mana and patterns.

  • Bait interaction with replaceable permanents before committing premium auras. Omen of the Sea, Fate Foretold, Spreading Seas, Spirited Companion, Conviction, The Modern Age // Vector Glider, Ior Ruin Expedition, and minor carrier development can expose opposing removal or counters; keep All That Glitters, Ethereal Armor, Steel of the Godhead, and On the Job until the opponent taps low, protection is available, or waiting loses the race.

  • Ignore small creatures when lifegain and a protected clock already win the race. Soul Warden, Soul's Attendant, Lunarch Veteran // Luminous Phantom, Suture Priest, Gossamer Chains, Family Reunion, and Rootborn Defenses can make chip attacks irrelevant; spend removal on evasion blockers, sacrifice outlets, commanders, or engines instead of 1-power pressure unless the visible clock becomes short.

  • Change archetype posture by matchup texture. Against creature swarms, prioritize early lifegain, cheap neutralizing auras, and blockers before card-draw auras. Against control, hold redundant carriers and protection, bait counters, and force action at end step or on low-mana turns when legal. Against artifact/enchantment engines, treat Seal of Cleansing, Revoke Existence, Disenchant, Dust to Dust, and Thraben Charm as primary interaction, not incidental utility. Against graveyard decks, Relic of Progenitus is worth early deployment, but activate only when the visible graveyard value justifies losing future leverage.

  • Do not invent discard or hidden-hand priorities. This list has no main discard package; if Veles reveals an opponent hand through a legal effect, use the visible information only to decide whether to protect Gremlin Tamer, counter a spell, or delay a premium aura.

Combat And Trading Rules

  • Attack with Gremlin Tamer only when the attack advances damage, cards, bounce pressure, or commander snowballing. Card text check required for Gremlin Tamer exact combat payoff, so rely on Veles action labels and visible attachments rather than assuming a trigger.

  • Build one protected evasive carrier before spreading auras. Cartouche of Knowledge, Security Bypass, Steel of the Godhead, Sigil of Sleep, Hyena Umbra, Dog Umbra, Benevolent Blessing, Pentarch Ward, and Conviction make attacks safer; All That Glitters and Ethereal Armor should usually follow evasion or protection unless the visible board has no profitable blocks.

  • Trade small creatures only to preserve the carrier plan. Spirited Companion, Moon-Circuit Hacker, Slumbering Keepguard, Creeping Peeper, Transcendent Envoy, Starnheim Courser, and token-like bodies can block when doing so buys a turn to attack back with an enchanted creature, but avoid trading away the only legal carrier when premium auras are stranded in hand.

  • Protect Gremlin Tamer over marginal board value. Use Benevolent Blessing, Family Reunion, Rootborn Defenses, Fanatical Devotion, Angelic Renewal, Flicker of Fate, Hyena Umbra, Dog Umbra, or Pentarch Ward when Veles shows a legal line that saves the commander, the lethal carrier, or the only stabilizing blocker; let lesser creatures die if saving them delays the winning attack.

  • Take damage when the return attack is faster and protected. If the opponent's visible attack does not create a two-turn lethal clock, keep blockers back only when they meaningfully protect life, prevent a combat trigger, or preserve planes of recovery; otherwise maintain pressure with evasive enchanted attackers.

  • Shift to defense when the visible board creates a two-turn clock or life is below the next full attack step's damage. Prioritize Frogify, Witness Protection, Journey to Nowhere, Planar Disruption, Web Up, Gossamer Chains, Seal of Removal, Family Reunion, Rootborn Defenses, and lifegain creatures over drawing extra cards or adding nonlethal power.

  • Do not attack needed blockers under a short clock. Soul Warden, Soul's Attendant, Lunarch Veteran // Luminous Phantom, Suture Priest, Answered Prayers, Veil of Birds, Opal Gargoyle, and other defensive bodies should stay back when they absorb lethal damage, enable lifegain stabilization, or force the opponent to commit more creatures into your protection spells.

  • Use burst cards only with clear combat math. On the Job, Stormcaller's Boon, Focus Fire, Summon: Choco/Mog, All That Glitters, Ethereal Armor, and Steel of the Godhead are commitment cards; cast them precombat only when legal targets, blockers, protection, and postcombat exposure are acceptable from visible state. Card text check required for Focus Fire and Summon: Choco/Mog exact effects.

  • Against control, attack with resilient pressure and keep mana open. A smaller Gremlin Tamer with protection is better than a tapped-out lethal attempt into visible interaction. Against aggro, block earlier and value lifegain triggers. Against midrange, force awkward blocks with evasion and bounce. Against combo, shorten the clock and reserve counters or removal for the engine card Veles actually exposes.

Selection And Tutor Rules

  • Sequence pseudo-selection before irreversible commitments when it can change the turn. Cast Omen of the Sea, Glimmerburst, Shared Discovery, The Modern Age // Vector Glider, Spreading Seas, Spirited Companion, Fate Foretold, Cartouche of Knowledge, Security Bypass, Ophidian Eye, Ocular Halo, Ior Ruin Expedition, Lórien Revealed, or cycling lands before choosing a land drop, aura target, or all-in attack if the legal action order allows new cards to affect that choice.

  • Treat this list as selection-heavy rather than tutor-heavy. Ash Barrens, Evolving Wilds, Terramorphic Expanse, Eagles of the North, Lórien Revealed, and landcycling-style actions are mana-fixing tools first; do not spend them as generic deck-thinning unless the hand already has enough white and blue to cast the current turn's interaction and carrier setup.

  • Find white mana first when the hand needs enchantment development. Plains, Command Tower, Azorius Chancery, The Fair Basilica, Desert of the True, Drifting Meadow, Secluded Steppe, Sejiri Steppe, and white-capable dual lands support Gremlin Tamer, All That Glitters, Ethereal Armor, Hyena Umbra, Dog Umbra, Journey to Nowhere, Banishing Light, Fanatical Devotion, Benevolent Blessing, and most stabilizing cards.

  • Find blue mana first when the hand is selection- or evasion-heavy. Island, Lonely Sandbar, Remote Isle, Desert of the Mindful, The Surgical Bay, Skyline Cascade, Lonely Arroyo, Skybridge Towers, and blue-capable fixing support Omen of the Sea, Cartouche of Knowledge, Security Bypass, Ophidian Eye, Sigil of Sleep, Seal of Removal, The Modern Age // Vector Glider, Moon-Circuit Hacker, Lórien Revealed, Hoodwink, and countermagic after sideboard.

  • Delay cycling lands when land drops are still contested. Secluded Steppe, Lonely Sandbar, Drifting Meadow, Remote Isle, Desert of the Mindful, and Desert of the True are real mana sources in a two-color commander deck; cycle only when Veles shows enough lands for the next two turns, the current hand has both colors, or digging is required to avoid losing to visible pressure.

  • Use Halimar Depths before shuffle effects only when top-card ordering matters immediately. If Ash Barrens, Evolving Wilds, Terramorphic Expanse, or another search action is likely this turn, decide whether the top cards are worth preserving before shuffling them away; do not crack a shuffle effect after keeping a needed top card unless the legal action is forced.

  • Bottom or decline redundant setup when the board needs a carrier or answer. Extra low-impact enchantments are weaker than Gremlin Tamer, a protected evasive creature, Journey to Nowhere, Banishing Light, Frogify, Witness Protection, Seal of Removal, or a missing land when the opponent already has a fast board.

  • Keep aura payoffs only with a legal carrier and protection plan. All That Glitters, Ethereal Armor, Steel of the Godhead, Security Bypass, Cartouche of Knowledge, Sigil of Sleep, Ophidian Eye, and Ocular Halo become high priority when Gremlin Tamer or another creature can attack safely; they are lower priority when every visible creature is summoning sick, removable, blocked, or needed on defense.

Priority And Stack Rules

  • Pass priority through low-impact windows when no legal action changes damage, cards, mana, or survival. Do not cast Seal of Cleansing, Seal of Removal, Gossamer Chains, Family Reunion, Rootborn Defenses, Benevolent Blessing, Fanatical Devotion, Flicker of Fate, or sideboard counters just because priority appears; require a visible spell, attack, target, or lethal math reason.

  • Protect the committed carrier over replaceable permanents. Respond to targeted removal or combat blowouts with Benevolent Blessing, Family Reunion, Rootborn Defenses, Fanatical Devotion, Angelic Renewal, Flicker of Fate, Hyena Umbra, Dog Umbra, Pentarch Ward, or post-board Dispel and Negate when Veles shows the action can save Gremlin Tamer, the lethal enchanted creature, or the only stabilizing blocker.

  • Let opposing spells resolve when they do not alter the current race or engine. Save Dispel, Negate, Hydroblast, and Blue Elemental Blast for visible stack cards that remove the carrier, stop the winning aura, sweep or neutralize the board, create immediate lethal pressure, or resolve a commander-level engine; do not counter minor cantrips or setup while a more dangerous window is likely.

  • Use removal at the last safe moment unless mana or triggers reward sorcery speed. Journey to Nowhere, Banishing Light, Planar Disruption, Chains of Custody, Trapped in the Screen, Imprisoned in the Moon, Reprobation, Frogify, Witness Protection, Unable to Scream, and Web Up should hit the permanent that blocks the attack, enables lethal, or generates repeated value; casting early is correct only to free attacks, protect life, or spend mana efficiently before holding interaction.

  • Fire Seal of Cleansing and sideboard artifact/enchantment answers only into visible targets. Seal of Cleansing, Thraben Charm, Disenchant, Revoke Existence, and Dust to Dust should answer cards that stop the carrier plan, threaten a lock, enable combo, or present lethal pressure; keep them available when the current target is replaceable.

  • Use bounce as tempo or protection, not as default removal. Seal of Removal and Hoodwink are strongest in response to an aura/equipment stack, before combat damage when a blocker or attacker disappears, or to save a key permanent if the legal action returns the endangered object; avoid bouncing a card the opponent can replay without losing meaningful tempo.

  • Choose optional payments and triggers by board role. Pay for protection, evasion, and card-flow options when they support the committed attack or survival line; decline optional costs that consume mana needed for Dispel, Negate, Seal of Removal, Benevolent Blessing, Rootborn Defenses, Family Reunion, or a removal spell shown in hand and relevant to the visible board.

  • Respect graveyard timing after sideboard. Relic of Progenitus should be activated when the opponent's visible graveyard action is on the stack or their graveyard contains the material enabling the next payoff; do not exile your own Angelic Renewal or Return Triumphant value without a clear defensive reason.

  • Recheck legal actions after each stack object resolves. A resolved aura, removal spell, protection spell, or draw effect can change attack legality, available mana, targets, and whether Gremlin Tamer or the carrier is still worth committing to; use the newest Veles state rather than following the previous plan blindly.

Sideboard Map

  • Sideboard with the carrier plan still first. Add role cards that protect Gremlin Tamer or another enchanted attacker, stop a visible hate permanent, or buy a decisive combat turn; reduce main-deck emphasis on narrow auras, slow chip-damage enchantments, and opponent-dependent punishment cards when they do not match the opponent's board plan. This Commander-family deck must keep the 100-card main-deck structure intact after post-board swaps, so every added card should have a job shown by public information or matchup identity.

  • Hydroblast is for red decks where a visible red spell or red permanent changes the race. Bring it for burn, red sweepers, red removal aimed at Gremlin Tamer, red combo pieces, and red attackers that force the deck away from aura commitment; it is weak against decks with only incidental red cards or mostly colorless threats.

  • Blue Elemental Blast mirrors Hydroblast as a second red-specific answer. Use it when the matchup has enough red stack pressure that one answer is not enough; it changes role from protection to tempo when the legal action can counter or destroy the red card that blocks lethal, clears the carrier, or enables the opponent's next kill.

  • Dispel is for instant-speed fights over the committed creature. Bring it against removal-heavy, counter-heavy, or combat-trick-heavy decks where Veles shows the opponent can interact during the key aura, attack, or protection window; it is bad against creature-board decks whose important cards are permanents already on the battlefield.

  • Negate is for noncreature engines, sweepers, removal, and stack fights that Dispel cannot cover. Bring it against control, combo, artifact/enchantment engines, and decks that answer All That Glitters, Ethereal Armor, Steel of the Godhead, or Security Bypass with noncreature spells; it is slower than Dispel when the only concern is an instant removal spell.

  • Dust to Dust is for artifact-dense opponents where exiling two artifacts is likely to matter. Bring it against affinity-style boards, mana-rock engines, artifact combo, and equipment-heavy starts; it is bad when the opponent has only one meaningful artifact or when spending three mana at sorcery speed gives up protection for the carrier.

  • Prismatic Strands is for combat races and red damage decks. Bring it when preventing a color's damage can blank an attack, survive a burn turn, or create a safe swing-back with an enchanted creature; it is bad against non-damage combo, exile-based removal, sacrifice effects, and boards where the relevant threat color is not clear from public information.

  • Standard Bearer is for targeted removal, pump, auras, and combat tricks that must legally target it. Bring it when the opponent's visible or likely plan depends on targeting creatures; it changes the role of Gremlin Tamer from fragile carrier to protected payoff because opposing target actions may be redirected by rules. Card text check required for exact targeting constraints at runtime.

  • Relic of Progenitus is for graveyard engines and recursion. Bring it against flashback, delve, reanimation, graveyard combo, and decks visibly building a graveyard payoff; it is bad when your own Angelic Renewal, Return Triumphant, or graveyard-informed lines matter more than the opponent's graveyard.

  • Revoke Existence is for artifacts and enchantments that must be exiled rather than merely destroyed. Bring it against indestructible, recursion, artifact/enchantment combo, or prison pieces that stop attacking or targeting; it is weaker than Seal of Cleansing or Disenchant when instant timing is the key issue.

  • Disenchant is the flexible artifact/enchantment answer. Bring it when instant speed can stop equipment, aura, animated artifact pressure, a lock piece, or a combo permanent at the last safe moment; it is less important when the main deck already has enough Seal of Cleansing, Banishing Light, Journey to Nowhere, Trapped in the Screen, Imprisoned in the Moon, and Chains of Custody for the visible threat mix.

Versus red burn or red removal Side in: Hydroblast; Blue Elemental Blast; Prismatic Strands; Dispel Cut: Psychic Venom; Betrayal; Soul Barrier; Ior Ruin Expedition

  • Role rule: Add role cards that protect life total and stop red interaction before adding extra slow value. Reduce main-deck emphasis on Psychic Venom, Betrayal, Soul Barrier, and Ior Ruin Expedition because they require time, opponent cooperation, or a slower board to matter.

Versus blue control or spell-heavy combo Side in: Dispel; Negate; Standard Bearer Cut: Psychic Venom; Gossamer Chains; Focus Fire

  • Role rule: Add role cards that force the aura commitment through counterspells, removal, and targeted disruption. Reduce main-deck emphasis on board-only or damage-only cards when the opponent is playing mostly on the stack.

Versus artifact engines or affinity-style boards Side in: Dust to Dust; Revoke Existence; Disenchant; Negate Cut: Psychic Venom; Betrayal; Soul Barrier; Gossamer Chains

  • Role rule: Add role cards that answer artifacts cleanly before the opponent converts them into lethal pressure or mana advantage. Reduce main-deck emphasis on narrow creature-punishment enchantments when artifact permanents, not combat bodies alone, are the real engine.

Versus graveyard recursion or graveyard combo Side in: Relic of Progenitus; Dispel; Negate Cut: Psychic Venom; Betrayal; Ior Ruin Expedition

  • Role rule: Add role cards that stop the graveyard payoff at the activation, spell, or setup point. Reduce main-deck emphasis on slow enchantments when the opponent's graveyard clock is faster than the carrier's damage clock.

Versus creature-wide combat decks Side in: Prismatic Strands; Standard Bearer; Disenchant Cut: Psychic Venom; Betrayal; Soul Barrier

  • Role rule: Add role cards that preserve life, distort targeting, and answer equipment or aura pressure. Reduce main-deck emphasis on cards that tax single attackers or punish single permanents when the opponent presents many bodies.

Versus equipment, aura, or targeted-pump pressure Side in: Standard Bearer; Revoke Existence; Disenchant Cut: Betrayal; Psychic Venom; Ior Ruin Expedition

  • Role rule: Add role cards that break the opponent's targeting rules or remove the permanent that makes combat impossible. Reduce main-deck emphasis on slow value when the opponent can force a single protected attacker through before the draw engines matter.

  • Archetype rule: Against fast creature decks, keep removal density high. Journey to Nowhere, Banishing Light, Planar Disruption, Frogify, Witness Protection, Unable to Scream, Web Up, Chains of Custody, and Trapped in the Screen remain important because the deck needs time to assemble Gremlin Tamer plus a protected aura carrier.

  • Archetype rule: Against control, keep threat quality higher than answer quantity. Do not overload on artifact/enchantment removal unless the opponent has shown targets; prioritize Dispel, Negate, Standard Bearer, Benevolent Blessing, Pentarch Ward, Hyena Umbra, Dog Umbra, and resilient carrier sequencing.

  • Archetype rule: Against combo, add the narrow answer only when it intersects the visible engine. Relic of Progenitus is for graveyard zones, Dust to Dust and Revoke Existence are for artifacts/enchantments, Hydroblast and Blue Elemental Blast are for red cards, and Dispel or Negate covers stack-based commitment turns.

  • Runtime rule: Never choose an exact plan blindly when Veles shows a different threat profile. If the opponent's revealed cards, battlefield, graveyard, or stack do not match the plan label, use the role-card rules and preserve the main plan of Gremlin Tamer, protected enchantment scaling, evasive damage, and legal interaction timing.

Matchup Guidance

  • Aggro: Prioritize survival before aura scaling when the opponent is presenting early creature pressure. Keep hands that can cast Soul Warden, Soul's Attendant, Lunarch Veteran // Luminous Phantom, Spirited Companion, or cheap removal while still developing white and blue mana. Journey to Nowhere, Banishing Light, Planar Disruption, Frogify, Witness Protection, Unable to Scream, Reprobation, Web Up, Chains of Custody, and Trapped in the Screen buy the turns needed for Gremlin Tamer, All That Glitters, Ethereal Armor, Steel of the Godhead, or Security Bypass to end the game. Prismatic Strands, Standard Bearer, and Disenchant are role cards when the opponent's pressure involves combat damage, targeted tricks, equipment, or auras. Avoid over-sideboarding; the Commander-family plan still needs enough carriers, enchantments, and mana to convert Gremlin Tamer into a real clock.

  • Control: Build a threat that survives one interaction window rather than spreading important auras into open mana. Lead with low-commitment value from Omen of the Sea, The Modern Age // Vector Glider, Spirited Companion, Fate Foretold, Cartouche of Knowledge, Shared Discovery, Lórien Revealed, or Moon-Circuit Hacker before committing All That Glitters, Ethereal Armor, Steel of the Godhead, Ophidian Eye, or Security Bypass. Protect the carrier with Benevolent Blessing, Pentarch Ward, Hyena Umbra, Dog Umbra, Fanatical Devotion, Angelic Renewal, Rootborn Defenses, or Family Reunion only when Veles shows the relevant legal timing. Dispel, Negate, and Standard Bearer are role cards, but do not dilute threat quality for artifact or enchantment answers unless the opponent has shown targets.

  • Combo: Identify the opponent's public engine before spending interaction. If the engine is graveyard-based, Relic of Progenitus matters more than creature removal; if it is artifact or enchantment based, Dust to Dust, Revoke Existence, Disenchant, Seal of Cleansing, Banishing Light, Imprisoned in the Moon, or Trapped in the Screen are the pressure points; if it is stack-based, Dispel and Negate are the relevant role cards. Present a clock with Gremlin Tamer plus an evasive or protected carrier, because slow enchantment value gives combo too many draw steps.

  • Tempo: Protect mana efficiency and do not walk the key aura into a visible bounce, tap, or removal window without a reason. Sequence Arcane Signet, Azorius Signet, Command Tower, Azorius Chancery, Halimar Depths, Ash Barrens, Evolving Wilds, and Terramorphic Expanse to keep both colors available while avoiding forced tap-out turns. Cheap interaction such as Seal of Removal, Seal of Cleansing, Thraben Charm, Family Reunion, and Flicker of Fate is valuable because it can preserve a carrier or reset an opposing tempo swing. Dispel, Hydroblast, Blue Elemental Blast, and Negate are role cards only when the opponent's colors and visible spell types justify them.

  • Midrange: Trade one-for-one early, then turn enchantment density into a larger single threat than the opponent can answer cleanly. All That Glitters, Ethereal Armor, Steel of the Godhead, Security Bypass, Cartouche of Knowledge, Sigil of Sleep, Ophidian Eye, and Ocular Halo can make any stable carrier matter, but only commit multiple auras after checking visible removal, blockers, and available protection. Banishing Light, Journey to Nowhere, Planar Disruption, Imprisoned in the Moon, Chains of Custody, and Trapped in the Screen should answer the permanent that changes combat math most. Standard Bearer, Dispel, Negate, and Revoke Existence are role cards when their interaction profile is shown.

  • Big mana: Pressure early and disrupt the permanent that converts mana into inevitability. Psychic Venom, Spreading Seas, Imprisoned in the Moon, Hoodwink, Seal of Removal, Banishing Light, and Trapped in the Screen are useful only when they meaningfully slow a visible mana engine or payoff; do not spend them on low-impact permanents if a larger engine is about to resolve. Gremlin Tamer plus evasive damage from Security Bypass, Cartouche of Knowledge, Steel of the Godhead, or Escape Tunnel can race better than a long value game. Negate, Dust to Dust, Revoke Existence, and Disenchant are role cards when artifacts, enchantments, or noncreature payoffs are visible.

  • Graveyard: Treat the graveyard as a second battlefield when the opponent is accumulating recursion, flashback, or sacrifice value. Relic of Progenitus is the clean role card, but main-deck pressure still matters because holding graveyard hate forever can lose to normal combat. Angelic Renewal and Return Triumphant use your own graveyard or death events, so activate graveyard hate only after comparing the opponent's visible payoff against your own pending recovery line. Dispel and Negate support Relic of Progenitus when the opponent's graveyard payoff is protected by instants or noncreature spells.

  • Artifact/enchantment: Save exile and destroy effects for pieces that stop the carrier plan or create a faster engine than your auras. Seal of Cleansing is strong when deployed before the problem permanent matters; Revoke Existence is preferred when exile is tactically relevant; Dust to Dust is strongest when Veles shows two meaningful artifact targets; Disenchant is strongest when instant timing changes combat or combo timing. Main-deck answers include Banishing Light, Journey to Nowhere, Trapped in the Screen, Imprisoned in the Moon, Chains of Custody, and Thraben Charm. Reduce reliance on creature-only debuffs when the opponent's important cards are noncreature permanents.

  • Go-wide: Preserve life total and avoid relying on one blocker to stabilize. Soul Warden, Soul's Attendant, Lunarch Veteran // Luminous Phantom, Suture Priest, Answered Prayers, Rootborn Defenses, Your Temple Is Under Attack, Family Reunion, Gossamer Chains, and Prismatic Strands are the cards that can turn a wide board from lethal into manageable. Removal should target anthem-like, evasive, or damage-amplifying permanents when visible rather than the smallest attacker. Gremlin Tamer should become a racing threat only after the next attack is survivable.

  • Single-threat: Answer or blank the one threat before committing to a race unless your enchanted carrier already has a clearly faster clock. Frogify, Witness Protection, Unable to Scream, Planar Disruption, Reprobation, Web Up, Journey to Nowhere, Banishing Light, Imprisoned in the Moon, Trapped in the Screen, Chains of Custody, Seal of Removal, and Hoodwink all support this role. Sigil of Sleep can dominate if the carrier connects, but only after Veles confirms the attack is legal and the threat can be bounced under the current rules state. Disenchant, Revoke Existence, and Standard Bearer matter when the single threat relies on auras, equipment, or targeted protection.

  • Burn: Treat life as the primary resource and force red damage through multiple layers of prevention or counters. Soul Warden, Soul's Attendant, Lunarch Veteran // Luminous Phantom, Suture Priest, Steel of the Godhead, Prismatic Strands, Hydroblast, Blue Elemental Blast, Dispel, Benevolent Blessing, Pentarch Ward, Hyena Umbra, Dog Umbra, and Family Reunion are more important than slow card advantage. Do not pay unnecessary tempo for Ior Ruin Expedition, Psychic Venom, Betrayal, or Soul Barrier when the opponent can finish with spells from hand. Race only when the carrier gains life or presents a two-turn clock.

  • Removal-heavy: Bait removal with lower-value creatures before investing multiple auras into Gremlin Tamer or another carrier. Transcendent Envoy, Spirited Companion, Moon-Circuit Hacker, The Modern Age // Vector Glider, Veil of Birds, Opal Gargoyle, Slumbering Keepguard, Creeping Peeper, and Starnheim Courser can absorb pressure or carry one aura while the protection suite is assembled. Hold All That Glitters, Ethereal Armor, Steel of the Godhead, Ophidian Eye, and Security Bypass until Benevolent Blessing, Pentarch Ward, Hyena Umbra, Dog Umbra, Fanatical Devotion, Angelic Renewal, Flicker of Fate, Dispel, or Negate can cover the decisive exchange. Standard Bearer is excellent only when opposing interaction actually targets creatures.

Specific Matchup Notes

  • General/archetype-only note: Exact opponents are absent, so revealed cards, commander identity, public zones, and Veles legal actions override every assumption here. Use these notes to bias priority, sideboard role cards, and risk tolerance, then follow the rules engine when a target, attack, block, trigger, or payment is not actually legal.

  • Fast creature decks: Preserve life before building the largest aura stack. Priority targets are evasive attackers, anthem-like permanents, sacrifice outlets that blank removal, and creatures that make blocking impossible; use Frogify, Witness Protection, Planar Disruption, Reprobation, Web Up, Journey to Nowhere, Banishing Light, Seal of Removal, and Chains of Custody on the permanent that changes the next combat most. Prismatic Strands and Standard Bearer are the first sideboard role cards when damage prevention or targeting distortion matters. Hydroblast and Blue Elemental Blast join only when the pressure or removal is meaningfully red. Reduce main-deck emphasis on Psychic Venom, Betrayal, Soul Barrier, and slow draw setup when the opponent is already presenting lethal pressure.

  • Blue tempo or control: Force them to answer one threat at a time before committing All That Glitters, Ethereal Armor, Steel of the Godhead, Ophidian Eye, or Security Bypass onto the same carrier. Priority targets are tapped-out windows, opposing evasive threats, repeatable card-advantage engines, and stack interaction that can stop the decisive aura or protection spell. Dispel, Negate, and Standard Bearer are sideboard role cards, but the plan still needs a real clock; do not board into a hand of answers with no carrier or aura pressure.

  • Red burn or red removal: Treat life total and protection as the matchup axis. Soul Warden, Soul's Attendant, Lunarch Veteran // Luminous Phantom, Suture Priest, Steel of the Godhead, Benevolent Blessing, Pentarch Ward, Hyena Umbra, Dog Umbra, Family Reunion, and Rootborn Defenses should be valued above slow engines unless the board is already stable. Hydroblast, Blue Elemental Blast, Prismatic Strands, and Dispel are sideboard role cards. Priority targets are repeatable damage permanents, haste threats, and burn spells on the stack when Veles exposes legal counterplay.

  • Artifact or enchantment engines: Save flexible answers for the engine card that invalidates combat or outpaces aura damage. Seal of Cleansing can be deployed early as insurance, while Disenchant, Revoke Existence, Dust to Dust, Banishing Light, Trapped in the Screen, Imprisoned in the Moon, and Thraben Charm should answer visible permanents whose type and timing matter. Dust to Dust is best when two artifact targets are meaningful; Revoke Existence is best when exile matters; Disenchant is best when instant timing matters. Reduce reliance on Frogify-style creature shrinking when the opponent's important permanents are artifacts or enchantments.

  • Graveyard recursion: Pressure while holding graveyard hate for the first visible payoff that matters. Relic of Progenitus should not be fired just to reduce card count if Angelic Renewal, Return Triumphant, or your own death-trigger recovery is part of the current line. Dispel and Negate protect against stack-based recursion or interaction, but they should not replace the proactive Gremlin Tamer clock unless the opponent's graveyard engine is clearly faster. Priority targets are recursion engines, flashback-style payoffs, and sacrifice loops shown by public zones.

  • Go-wide token or swarm decks: Treat Prismatic Strands as a time-buying card, not a permanent solution. The best post-board games still combine life gain from Soul Warden, Soul's Attendant, Lunarch Veteran // Luminous Phantom, Suture Priest, or Answered Prayers with removal on the permanent that changes the next attack. Standard Bearer matters when the wide deck uses pump or protection that targets creatures; Disenchant matters when the pressure comes from equipment, auras, or a noncreature anthem.

  • Single-threat Voltron or commander-centric decks: Do not race the protected threat until Veles shows your carrier has a faster clock or lifelink changes the math. Main-deck debuffs and exile effects remain central: Frogify, Witness Protection, Unable to Scream, Planar Disruption, Reprobation, Web Up, Journey to Nowhere, Banishing Light, Imprisoned in the Moon, Trapped in the Screen, Chains of Custody, Seal of Removal, and Hoodwink. Standard Bearer is high value when the opposing plan targets its own creature with auras, pump, or protection. Revoke Existence and Disenchant matter when equipment or auras are the real threat.

  • Big mana or permanent-ramp decks: Keep hands that pressure while interacting. Negate answers the payoff on the stack, while Dust to Dust, Revoke Existence, and Disenchant answer artifact or enchantment ramp when those permanents materially accelerate the opponent. Do not spend narrow sideboard cards on low-impact mana pieces if the real danger is a commander, lock piece, or noncreature payoff still coming.

  • Mixed midrange decks: Stay disciplined. Add only the role cards that line up with what was shown: Standard Bearer for targeted interaction, Dispel or Negate for stack fights, Revoke Existence or Disenchant for permanent engines, Relic of Progenitus for graveyard value, and Prismatic Strands for combat races. The deck wins many fair games by keeping enchantment density high enough for All That Glitters and Ethereal Armor, so excessive reactive swaps can weaken the best plan.

Risk Summary

  • Mana risk: The deck needs white and blue early while many lands enter tapped or ask for sequencing care, including Azorius Chancery, Halimar Depths, Secluded Steppe, Lonely Sandbar, Drifting Meadow, Remote Isle, Desert of the Mindful, Desert of the True, Skybridge Towers, Skyline Cascade, Sejiri Steppe, The Fair Basilica, and The Surgical Bay. Keep hands that cast early interaction or setup; avoid hands that require Arcane Signet or Azorius Signet to fix a missing color with no backup.

  • Matchup risk: A single large carrier can lose to one timely removal spell, bounce spell, edict, or protection effect. Do not stack All That Glitters, Ethereal Armor, Steel of the Godhead, Ophidian Eye, Cartouche of Knowledge, and Security Bypass onto one creature unless protection, redundancy, or clock pressure justifies the exposure.

  • Draw risk: Omen of the Sea, Ior Ruin Expedition, The Modern Age // Vector Glider, Glimmerburst, Shared Discovery, Lórien Revealed, and cycling lands create velocity, but spending early turns on cards instead of board can lose to fast pressure. Choose draw only when life total, blockers, and next combat remain safe.

  • Over-sideboarding risk: The main deck needs enchantment density for All That Glitters and Ethereal Armor, plus enough carriers for aura pressure. Add role cards without diluting the carrier-plus-aura plan into a pile of narrow answers.

  • Graveyard risk: Relic of Progenitus can disrupt opponents, but it may also conflict with Angelic Renewal and Return Triumphant lines. Check public graveyards and pending legal actions before activating.

  • Sweeper/removal risk: Rootborn Defenses, Your Temple Is Under Attack, Family Reunion, Fanatical Devotion, Benevolent Blessing, Pentarch Ward, Hyena Umbra, Dog Umbra, Flicker of Fate, and Angelic Renewal are protection tools, but each covers different failure modes. Card text check required for Gremlin Tamer and any unfamiliar protection interaction before assuming a saved creature, token, or aura stack survives.

  • Closer risk: The deck can stabilize without ending the game if it spends too many turns answering instead of attacking. Once a carrier has evasion or lifelink-like pressure through Steel of the Godhead, Security Bypass, Cartouche of Knowledge, Sigil of Sleep, or Escape Tunnel, shift from pure defense to a clock when Veles shows attacks are legal.

  • Interaction risk: Holding Dispel, Negate, Hydroblast, Blue Elemental Blast, Disenchant, or Seal of Removal forever can waste mana against board-based threats. Use stack interaction when the spell changes the race, protects the carrier, or stops a visible engine.

  • Sequencing risk: Casting auras before playing land, cracking Ash Barrens, Evolving Wilds, or Terramorphic Expanse, or checking Halimar Depths can hide better lines. Sequence information and mana first unless immediate pressure or a legal response window demands action.

Test Feedback Checklist

  • Deciding factor: Record whether the game was decided by commander pressure, an aura carrier, life-gain stabilization, removal density, mana stumble, opponent speed, or a protected closing attack. Name the exact visible card or sequence that changed the game, such as All That Glitters, Ethereal Armor, Steel of the Godhead, Security Bypass, Sigil of Sleep, Soul Warden, Suture Priest, or a specific removal aura.

  • Mulligans: Check whether the opening hand had castable early plays, both colors, and a route to deploy Gremlin Tamer or another carrier before loading auras. Flag hands that kept Arcane Signet, Azorius Signet, Ash Barrens, Evolving Wilds, or Terramorphic Expanse as the only functional fixing and still missed a timely white or blue spell.

  • Mana: Track whether tapped lands cost a full turn of tempo or correctly enabled a stronger later turn. Note failures involving Azorius Chancery, Halimar Depths, Skybridge Towers, Skyline Cascade, Sejiri Steppe, The Fair Basilica, The Surgical Bay, Secluded Steppe, Lonely Sandbar, Drifting Meadow, Remote Isle, Desert of the Mindful, or Desert of the True.

  • Velocity: Judge whether Omen of the Sea, Ior Ruin Expedition, The Modern Age // Vector Glider, Glimmerburst, Shared Discovery, Lórien Revealed, cycling lands, and Spirited Companion found action at the right time or merely spent mana while the opponent advanced. Mark any spot where drawing before land choice would have improved sequencing.

  • Engine and carriers: Identify which creature or permanent actually carried the plan, and whether aura concentration was justified by visible protection or pressure. Review All That Glitters, Ethereal Armor, Cartouche of Knowledge, Ophidian Eye, Security Bypass, Steel of the Godhead, Conviction, Hyena Umbra, Dog Umbra, Pentarch Ward, and Benevolent Blessing for overcommitment into known interaction.

  • Removal and disruption: Record whether Frogify, Witness Protection, Planar Disruption, Reprobation, Unable to Scream, Web Up, Journey to Nowhere, Banishing Light, Chains of Custody, Trapped in the Screen, Imprisoned in the Moon, Seal of Removal, Seal of Cleansing, Thraben Charm, or Hoodwink answered the permanent that mattered most. Flag removal used on low-pressure creatures while a visible engine or lethal attacker remained.

  • Sideboard: After each post-board game, verify whether Hydroblast, Blue Elemental Blast, Dispel, Negate, Dust to Dust, Prismatic Strands, Standard Bearer, Relic of Progenitus, Revoke Existence, or Disenchant had legal targets or relevant timing. Note any sideboard card stranded in hand and the main-deck card removed for it.

  • Closing: Review turns where the deck stabilized but did not end the game. Ask whether Escape Tunnel, Cartouche of Knowledge, Security Bypass, Steel of the Godhead, Sigil of Sleep, On the Job, or Eagles of the North could have converted board control into a clock.

  • Role and mistakes: Mark whether the pilot correctly shifted between defense, setup, and pressure. Record pass decisions with unused mana, missed attacks, missed blocks, aura timing errors, protection held too long, and any time Fanatical Devotion, Angelic Renewal, Family Reunion, Rootborn Defenses, Flicker of Fate, or Your Temple Is Under Attack failed to line up with the actual threat.

  • Overperformers and underperformers: List the three cards that most advanced the winning plan and the three cards most often stranded, low-impact, or too slow. Separate card weakness from runtime mistakes, illegal actions, hidden information, and card text check required cases.

First Tuning Questions

  • Mana base: Does the deck need fewer tapped cycling lands or bounce-land starts if Azorius Chancery, Remote Isle, Desert of the Mindful, Desert of the True, Drifting Meadow, Secluded Steppe, and Lonely Sandbar repeatedly delay interaction? If color issues persist, test whether the weakest slow lands should become more untapped white or blue sources before changing spells.

  • Aura density: Is the deck losing because it draws All That Glitters, Ethereal Armor, Ophidian Eye, Security Bypass, Steel of the Godhead, Conviction, and protection without enough safe carriers? If so, consider whether low-impact enchantments should become more creatures, more protection, or more card selection rather than simply adding power.

  • Aggro plan: Does the deck stabilize too late against fast attackers despite Soul Warden, Soul's Attendant, Lunarch Veteran // Luminous Phantom, Suture Priest, Frogify, Witness Protection, Web Up, Planar Disruption, and Journey to Nowhere? If yes, question whether slow engines like Psychic Venom, Betrayal, Soul Barrier, and Ior Ruin Expedition are occupying slots needed for earlier board control.

  • Control plan: Does the deck lose to one answer after stacking a single creature? If yes, tune toward more distributed threats, more protection through Benevolent Blessing, Pentarch Ward, Hyena Umbra, Dog Umbra, Family Reunion, Rootborn Defenses, or more sideboard stack interaction with Dispel and Negate.

  • Closers: Does the deck create long stable boards without lethal pressure? If yes, evaluate whether On the Job, Eagles of the North, Escape Tunnel, Cartouche of Knowledge, Security Bypass, Steel of the Godhead, and Sigil of Sleep are being drawn, protected, and sequenced often enough.

  • Sideboard slots: Which sideboard cards were consistently live across matches, and which were stranded? Test whether Dust to Dust, Revoke Existence, Disenchant, Relic of Progenitus, Standard Bearer, Prismatic Strands, Hydroblast, Blue Elemental Blast, Dispel, or Negate deserve different matchup priority before changing the maindeck.

  • Role conflicts: Is the deck pulled between enchantment-voltron pressure, defensive aura control, life-gain attrition, and slow card draw? If game logs show repeated half-plans, decide whether Gremlin Tamer games should bias harder toward protected aura pressure or toward removal-heavy stabilization before the next build pass.

Veles Tactical Policy

Policy: Opening Keep Gate

Priority: High Decision families: mulligan; pregame Cards: Gremlin Tamer; Plains; Island; Command Tower; Arcane Signet; Azorius Signet; Ash Barrens; Evolving Wilds; Terramorphic Expanse Phase windows: opening hand; mulligan decisions Runtime cues: prompt:mulligan; action:keep; action:mulligan Use when: opening hand shows at least two mana sources, access to white and blue by turn three, and one early play that either stabilizes, selects cards, or prepares Gremlin Tamer. Avoid when: hand has one land, no castable spell before turn three, only tapped mana with no early defense, or aura-heavy cards without a visible creature or commander access plan. Instructions: Keep functional hands that cast spells on time; mulligan hands that require drawing both mana and a carrier before doing anything relevant. Treat commander access as a real resource but do not keep a hand that only functions if Gremlin Tamer survives unchecked. Card text check required for Gremlin Tamer-specific engine assumptions. Pilot skill floor: medium No-API allowed: no Light-model allowed: yes

Policy: Early Enabling Permanent

Priority: Medium Decision families: mana; priority Cards: Gremlin Tamer; Soul Warden; Soul's Attendant; Lunarch Veteran // Luminous Phantom; Spirited Companion; Transcendent Envoy; Starnheim Courser; Omen of the Sea; The Modern Age // Vector Glider Phase windows: turns 1-3 main phases Runtime cues: action:cast Use when: legal actions include a cheap creature, cost reducer, card-selection enchantment, or commander deployment and the board is not demanding immediate removal. Avoid when: opponent has a visible threat that must be answered before setup, or casting the setup card prevents required colored mana next turn. Instructions: Establish a body, cost reducer, or selection permanent before loading auras. Prefer plays that leave future white-blue sequencing clean. Do not commit protection or payoff auras before a carrier exists unless the legal action is removal or card selection. Pilot skill floor: low No-API allowed: no Light-model allowed: yes

Avoid when: an untapped source is required this turn for removal, protection, or a decisive attack line. Instructions: Play tapped lands early when they do not strand interaction. Use Halimar Depths before draw effects when top-card ordering matters. Treat Azorius Chancery as a tempo risk; deploy it when bouncing a land does not block a required next-turn spell. Avoid when: the target is low-impact, the opponent has a more dangerous visible permanent, or holding removal preserves survival against a known incoming threat. Instructions: Spend removal on the permanent that changes the game state most: lethal pressure, must-answer engine, blocker stopping a protected attack, or commander-centric plan. Prefer enchantment-based answers that match the threat type and preserve instant-speed tools for later. Pilot skill floor: high No-API allowed: no Light-model allowed: yes

Policy: Bounce And Tempo Interaction

Priority: Medium Decision families: interaction; priority Cards: Seal of Removal; Hoodwink; Gossamer Chains; Sigil of Sleep Phase windows: combat; end step; response windows; main phases Runtime cues: action:activate; action:cast; action:target opponent Use when: a bounce or attack-deterrent line prevents damage, clears a blocker, disrupts an aura/equipment stack, or buys the turn needed to assemble pressure. Avoid when: temporary bounce does not affect the current race or permanently answering the threat is available. Instructions: Use Seal of Removal and Hoodwink for tempo only when the turn gained matters. Treat Sigil of Sleep as an attack-engine commitment that requires a safe connecting creature. Card text check required for exact Gossamer Chains timing. Pilot skill floor: medium No-API allowed: no Light-model allowed: yes

Policy: Protection And Save Gate

Priority: High Decision families: interaction; priority; combat Cards: Fanatical Devotion; Angelic Renewal; Benevolent Blessing; Family Reunion; Rootborn Defenses; Flicker of Fate; Your Temple Is Under Attack; Hyena Umbra; Dog Umbra Phase windows: removal response; combat damage; declared blockers; board wipe response Runtime cues: action:cast; action:activate; action:choose Use when: a visible legal action can save the commander, a loaded aura carrier, lethal attackers, or enough blockers to survive. Avoid when: saving the permanent does not change lethal math, consumes protection needed for a more important threat, or the legal action would remove essential auras from relevance. Instructions: Protect the concentrated aura carrier before protecting incidental bodies. Use team protection for lethal or survival, not for minor trades. Check exact card text before assuming indestructible, flicker timing, or prevention scope. Pilot skill floor: high No-API allowed: no Light-model allowed: yes

Policy: Attack Commitment

Priority: Medium Decision families: combat Cards: Steel of the Godhead; Security Bypass; Cartouche of Knowledge; Sigil of Sleep; On the Job; Eagles of the North; Escape Tunnel Phase windows: beginning of combat; declare attackers Runtime cues: action:attack Use when: deciding attacks with visible creatures and known blockers. Avoid when: attacking loses the only stabilizing blocker under a short clock, or the attack exposes a loaded carrier to an unfavorable block. Instructions: Attack when evasion, size, lifelink, bounce pressure, or a pump effect makes the swing advance the clock without collapsing defense. Hold back life-gain bodies and key carriers when blocking is required to survive. Pilot skill floor: medium No-API allowed: no Light-model allowed: yes

Policy: Single Forced Combat Action

Priority: Low Decision families: combat Cards: none Phase windows: declare attackers; declare blockers Runtime cues: action:attack; action:block Use when: exactly one legal attack or block action is available and all other legal actions are pass or cancel actions. Avoid when: there are multiple attacker sets, multiple blockers, pump/protection actions, or the action affects lethal or survival math. Instructions: Submit the single visible combat action only when the rules engine offers no tactical branch. Route all combat math through light-model when alternatives exist. Pilot skill floor: low No-API allowed: yes Light-model allowed: yes

Policy: Card Selection Before Commitment

Priority: Medium Decision families: selection; mana; priority Cards: Omen of the Sea; Ior Ruin Expedition; The Modern Age // Vector Glider; Glimmerburst; Shared Discovery; Lórien Revealed; Spirited Companion; Secluded Steppe; Lonely Sandbar; Drifting Meadow; Remote Isle; Desert of the Mindful; Desert of the True Phase windows: main phases; end step; draw setup Runtime cues: action:cast; action:cycle; action:activate Use when: selection can find land, protection, removal, or a carrier before committing auras or passing with unused mana. Avoid when: spending mana on selection prevents answering a lethal threat or deploying a required early permanent. Instructions: Draw or filter before land drop when the result can change which land to play. Cycle slow lands when mana is sufficient and action density matters more than land count. Do not use Shared Discovery unless tapping creatures preserves combat requirements. Pilot skill floor: medium No-API allowed: no Light-model allowed: yes

Policy: Exact Search And Fetch Target

Priority: Medium Decision families: selection; mana Cards: Ash Barrens; Evolving Wilds; Terramorphic Expanse; Eagles of the North; Lórien Revealed Phase windows: search prompts; landcycling; fetch activation Runtime cues: action:search; action:basic Plains; action:basic Island Use when: a search prompt asks for a basic land type and visible mana needs identify the missing color. Avoid when: both colors are already covered and the target choice depends on future spell mix, tapped-land sequencing, or hand contents beyond the cue. Instructions: Choose Plains when white is missing for removal, protection, or aura deployment. Choose Island when blue is missing for card selection, bounce, or stack interaction. Use light-model when the choice is not a single missing color. Pilot skill floor: low No-API allowed: no Light-model allowed: yes

Policy: Permission And Stack Interaction Gate

Priority: High Decision families: interaction; priority Cards: Dispel; Negate; Hydroblast; Blue Elemental Blast; Thraben Charm; Seal of Cleansing; Disenchant; Revoke Existence Phase windows: stack response; opponent main phase; combat trick windows Runtime cues: action:cast; action:counter; action:destroy; action:exile Use when: stack or permanent interaction can stop lethal damage, protect the aura carrier, counter a sweeper/removal spell, or remove an engine that beats the current board. Avoid when: the target is replaceable, the spell does not affect the current plan, or holding interaction covers a known higher-impact card. Instructions: Spend permission on spells that break the protected threat, win the race, or deny survival. Hydroblast and Blue Elemental Blast are red-specific; Card text check required for exact target modes. Do not counter low-impact cantrips while vulnerable to removal or board control. Pilot skill floor: high No-API allowed: no Light-model allowed: yes

Policy: Life-Gain Stabilization

Priority: Medium Decision families: priority; combat Cards: Soul Warden; Soul's Attendant; Lunarch Veteran // Luminous Phantom; Suture Priest; Answered Prayers Phase windows: early turns; creature deployment; combat races Runtime cues: action:cast Use when: life total is under pressure or repeated creature entries are visible enough to change the race. Avoid when: the opponent is not pressuring life and a carrier, removal spell, or selection spell advances the game more immediately. Instructions: Deploy life-gain creatures early against attackers and token boards. Do not treat life gain as a win condition unless it buys turns for a protected aura carrier or removal chain. Pilot skill floor: low No-API allowed: no Light-model allowed: yes

Policy: Pass Priority With Open Mana

Priority: Medium Decision families: priority Cards: Seal of Removal; Seal of Cleansing; Thraben Charm; Family Reunion; Rootborn Defenses; Your Temple Is Under Attack; Flicker of Fate; Dispel; Negate Phase windows: opponent turn; end step; combat steps; stack-empty priority Runtime cues: action:pass Use when: passing preserves instant-speed interaction, protection, or a stronger end-step action. Avoid when: legal main-phase action develops mana, stabilizes board, or creates a protected clock and no relevant response window is expected. Instructions: Pass with purpose only when open mana represents a visible legal response. If no response is likely and the board needs development, spend mana before yielding tempo. Pilot skill floor: medium No-API allowed: no Light-model allowed: yes

Policy: Sideboard Plan Gate

Priority: High Decision families: sideboard Cards: Hydroblast; Blue Elemental Blast; Dispel; Negate; Dust to Dust; Prismatic Strands; Standard Bearer; Relic of Progenitus; Revoke Existence; Disenchant Phase windows: between games; sideboard submission Runtime cues: prompt:sideboard; action:submit sideboard; match_stage:post_board Use when: choosing post-board changes from the registered 10-card sideboard after seeing matchup identity, commander identity, Game 1 public zones, or revealed engine cards. Avoid when: a sideboard card has no expected legal target or the removed main-deck cards would cut too deeply into creature count, mana development, enchantment density, removal density, or carrier protection. Instructions: Add red interaction against red spells, stack interaction against control or combo, artifact/enchantment exile against permanent engines, graveyard hate against graveyard plans, Standard Bearer against targeted pump or removal plans, and Prismatic Strands against combat or red damage. Keep every swap within the registered 10-card sideboard and exact 100-card main-deck names, and preserve the Gremlin Tamer aura-carrier core. Pilot skill floor: high No-API allowed: no Light-model allowed: yes

Policy: Sideboard Lock Verification

Priority: High Decision families: sideboard; validation Cards: Hydroblast; Blue Elemental Blast; Dispel; Negate; Dust to Dust; Prismatic Strands; Standard Bearer; Relic of Progenitus; Revoke Existence; Disenchant Phase windows: between games; sideboard submission; sideboard lock Runtime cues: prompt:sideboard; action:lock sideboard; validation:registered-110 Use when: finalizing post-board configuration for a Commander-family game using the registered 100-card main deck and 10-card sideboard. Avoid when: any proposed added card is not one of the registered sideboard cards, any proposed removed card is not one of the registered main-deck cards, or the resulting deck would fail the legal deck-size contract. Instructions: Verify exact spelling, equal exchange count, registered-card membership, and strategic purpose before locking. Prefer no change over an illegal or low-confidence swap. After lock, treat the submitted configuration as private until both seats have locked and Veles records the sideboarding audit. Pilot skill floor: high No-API allowed: no Light-model allowed: yes

Policy: Narrow Hate Deployment

Priority: Medium Decision families: sideboard; interaction; priority Cards: Relic of Progenitus; Dust to Dust; Revoke Existence; Disenchant; Hydroblast; Blue Elemental Blast; Standard Bearer Phase windows: post-board games; main phases; combat; response windows Runtime cues: action:cast; action:activate; action:counter; action:destroy; action:exile; prompt:priority Use when: a visible graveyard, red card, artifact, enchantment, or targeted creature plan is central to the opponent's current line. Avoid when: using the narrow answer does not reduce pressure, disrupt recursion, protect the carrier, stop a decisive stack action, or improve the next combat. Instructions: Time Relic of Progenitus around visible graveyard dependency rather than minor cleanup. Use Dust to Dust, Revoke Existence, and Disenchant on permanents that constrain attacks, mana, recursion, or survival. Hold Hydroblast and Blue Elemental Blast for red spells or permanents that change the race. Deploy Standard Bearer only when its targeting restriction is likely to matter under current rules. Pilot skill floor: medium No-API allowed: no Light-model allowed: yes

Policy: Protection And Combat Prevention

Priority: Medium Decision families: sideboard; combat; priority; protection Cards: Dispel; Negate; Prismatic Strands; Standard Bearer Phase windows: post-board games; declare attackers; declare blockers; combat damage; end step; response windows Runtime cues: action:cast; action:prevent damage; action:counter; prompt:priority; prompt:combat Use when: the opponent is trying to break up the enchanted carrier, force lethal combat, win a counter/removal exchange, or use targeted tricks to change combat math. Avoid when: the opponent is presenting non-damage combo, sacrifice effects, exile-based removal that these cards cannot answer, or permanent-board pressure already covered by main-deck removal. Instructions: Use Dispel for instant-speed fights, Negate for broader noncreature stack fights, Prismatic Strands for decisive damage prevention, and Standard Bearer for target-redirection pressure. Preserve enough mana to both protect the carrier and continue the aura clock; do not spend a protection card on a low-impact exchange unless it prevents lethal or keeps the main threat alive. Pilot skill floor: medium No-API allowed: no Light-model allowed: yes
