Strategy Specifications

Deck Name And Archetype

  • Identity: Brigid, Clachan's Heart is the commander, strategy name, and primary runtime anchor. Treat the deck as a green-white Commander creature-toolbox midrange deck with tribal texture, compact mana-engine finishes, and commander-centered combat control rather than as a generic creature swarm list.

  • Format validation: the active format is Commander. The registered main deck contains exactly 100 cards including Brigid, Clachan's Heart, and the singleton rule is satisfied outside basic lands: only Snow-Covered Forest at five copies and Snow-Covered Plains at two copies repeat. The registered Veles policy sideboard contains exactly 10 cards: Path to Exile, Rest in Peace, Drannith Magistrate, Stony Silence, Linvala, Keeper of Silence, Collector Ouphe, Reclamation Sage, Krosan Grip, Force of Vigor, and Burrenton Forge-Tender.

  • Sideboard legality concern: Commander events vary on sideboards, outside-game cards, and match-structured sideboarding. Veles should use this 10-card sideboard only as the supplied testing and policy sideboard, not as proof that the configuration is legal in every Commander event.

  • Archetype tags: honor the supplied tags midrange and tribal, but route decisions through the visible deck texture first. The deck is most accurately piloted as proactive green-white toolbox midrange with creature-count scaling, untap effects, search effects, protection timing, and hate-permanent pivots.

  • Stock status: classify the list as rogue-hybrid. It uses known green-white acceleration and search patterns with Arbor Elf, Birds of Paradise, Elvish Mystic, Green Sun's Zenith, Chord of Calling, Finale of Devastation, Worldly Tutor, and Eladamri's Call, but its commander choice, sideboard map, and unusual support cards make generic Selesnya assumptions unsafe.

  • Mana identity: treat early green as mandatory for most functional hands. Arbor Elf, Avacyn's Pilgrim, Birds of Paradise, Boreal Druid, Delighted Halfling, Elvish Mystic, Fyndhorn Elves, Llanowar Elves, Utopia Sprawl, Wild Growth, Green Sun's Zenith, Worldly Tutor, Crop Rotation, Natural Order, and Tooth and Nail all reward hands that develop green early and convert it into board or tutor velocity.

  • White access concern: preserve timely white when interaction, protection, or tutor lines are relevant. Brigid, Clachan's Heart, Altar of Bone, Eladamri's Call, Enlightened Tutor, Esper Sentinel, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Recruiter of the Guard, Silence, Stoneforge Mystic, Swords to Plowshares, Voice of Victory, Witch Enchanter, and sideboard cards such as Path to Exile, Drannith Magistrate, Rest in Peace, and Burrenton Forge-Tender make white timing strategically important.

  • Role concern: choose the runtime role from legal actions and visible board state before following any abstract archetype label. The deck can play beatdown with cheap creatures, defensive midrange with Brigid, Clachan's Heart, protected development with Grand Abolisher, Silence, Veil of Summer, Sylvan Safekeeper, or Ranger-Captain of Eos, and engine-combo through cards such as Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, Quirion Ranger, Scryb Ranger, Wirewood Symbiote, Hyrax Tower Scout, Village Bell-Ringer, Emiel the Blessed, Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, Mobilize, and Vitalize.

  • Card-text uncertainty: mark unfamiliar or newer names as conditional until the rules engine exposes legal actions or card text is verified. Card text check required for Badgermole Cub, Elite Interceptor, Flash Thompson, Spider-Fan, Formidable Speaker, Nature's Rhythm, Starfield Shepherd, Talon Gates of Madara, and Voice of Victory if tactical assumptions depend on their exact text.

  • Opponent information status: no opponent commander, decklist, archetype, or metagame target is supplied for this specification. The pilot must infer opponent role only from public runtime information, revealed cards, visible permanents, stack objects, graveyards, exile, legal actions, and Veles state output.

  • Runtime priority: legal actions always override strategic desire. The agent must not assume a tutor target, combat line, protection window, sideboard card, or combo step is available unless Veles exposes it as legal or visible state makes the prerequisite public.

Thesis

  • Assemble mana first, then convert creature density into a protected tutor or untap-engine turn. Brigid, Clachan's Heart wants early green sources, one-mana accelerants, and cheap bodies so Gaea's Cradle, Chord of Calling, Finale of Devastation, Natural Order, Eldritch Evolution, Ranger of Eos, Recruiter of the Guard, Woodland Bellower, Shared Summons, Tooth and Nail, Green Sun's Zenith, Invasion of Ikoria, Worldly Tutor, Eladamri's Call, and Enlightened Tutor can find the exact piece the visible game asks for.

  • Win by turning mana advantage into either a decisive board, a commander-controlled combat state, or a compact engine finish. The cleanest plans are creature-mana scaling with Gaea's Cradle, untap chains involving cards such as Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, Quirion Ranger, Scryb Ranger, Wirewood Symbiote, Hyrax Tower Scout, Village Bell-Ringer, Mobilize, Vitalize, Emiel the Blessed, Staff of Domination, or Umbral Mantle, and endgame conversion through Finale of Devastation, Tooth and Nail, Woodland Bellower, Brightglass Gearhulk, or sustained combat under Brigid, Clachan's Heart.

  • Do not pilot this as a generic tribal curve-out deck. Small creatures are mostly mana, convoke material, sacrifice material, tutor targets, protection texture, or Gaea's Cradle scaling, so avoid attacks or trades that strand Natural Order, weaken Chord of Calling, reduce Gaea's Cradle, or expose a needed untap creature unless combat damage is the current winning role.

  • Prioritize role clarity before spending tutors or protection. If behind on board, stabilize with Brigid, Clachan's Heart, Swords to Plowshares, Endurance, Haywire Mite, Witch Enchanter, or sideboard hate; if mana-rich, search for the missing engine or payoff; if facing open interaction, lead with Silence, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Veil of Summer, Legolas's Quick Reflexes, or Sylvan Safekeeper only when the protected turn is actually worth the resource.

Role Package

  • Threats: Brigid, Clachan's Heart is both a commander threat and a combat-control tool, so cast it when it changes attacks, blocks, or opposing creature pressure rather than merely filling mana. Allosaurus Shepherd, Esper Sentinel, Recruitment Officer, Seedcradle Witch, Stoneforge Mystic, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Recruiter of the Guard, Ranger of Eos, Woodland Bellower, Brightglass Gearhulk, Sowing Mycospawn, and Disciple of Freyalise can become material threats or value bodies, but Card text check required before assuming combat or triggered details for Brightglass Gearhulk, Sowing Mycospawn, and Disciple of Freyalise beyond legal engine output.

  • Payoffs: Finale of Devastation, Tooth and Nail, Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, Emiel the Blessed, Woodland Bellower, Brightglass Gearhulk, and Gaea's Cradle are the main ways excess mana becomes a win. Treat Finale of Devastation as a closer only when Veles exposes legal mana and target options that actually advance lethal damage or a deterministic board, not just because it is in hand.

  • Engines: Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, Quirion Ranger, Scryb Ranger, Wirewood Symbiote, Hyrax Tower Scout, Village Bell-Ringer, Mobilize, Vitalize, Emiel the Blessed, Staff of Domination, and Umbral Mantle are the core untap and mana-conversion cluster. Card text check required for engine assumptions involving Nature's Rhythm, Starfield Shepherd, Badgermole Cub, Formidable Speaker, Elite Interceptor, Flash Thompson, Spider-Fan, Voice of Victory, and Talon Gates of Madara unless Veles legal actions reveal their exact function.

  • Velocity: Green Sun's Zenith, Chord of Calling, Worldly Tutor, Eladamri's Call, Enlightened Tutor, Archdruid's Charm, Invasion of Ikoria, Summoner's Pact, Natural Order, Eldritch Evolution, Altar of Bone, Crop Rotation, Ranger of Eos, Recruiter of the Guard, Shared Summons, Tooth and Nail, and Woodland Bellower should be spent on role-specific needs, not generic value. Use creature-sacrifice tutors only when the sacrificed body is replaceable for the current line.

  • Interaction: Swords to Plowshares, Endurance, Boseiju, Who Endures, Haywire Mite, Witch Enchanter, Emerald Charm, Legolas's Quick Reflexes, Silence, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, and Veil of Summer protect the deck's timing as much as they answer threats. Hold interaction when the opponent has not committed a relevant object and the current legal pass does not concede a decisive window.

  • Protection: Silence, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Veil of Summer, Sylvan Safekeeper, Legolas's Quick Reflexes, Delighted Halfling, and Allosaurus Shepherd are best when paired with a specific follow-up tutor, commander, or engine turn. Do not fire protection just to spend mana unless the stack, revealed cards, or visible board makes waiting worse.

  • Recursion: Eternal Witness is the clean recursion anchor and should rebuy the card that restores the chosen role: interaction when dying, tutor when missing a piece, payoff when mana is already assembled, or protection when forcing a decisive turn. Avoid using it for low-impact value while a known graveyard card can unlock the current game state.

  • Mana: Arbor Elf, Avacyn's Pilgrim, Birds of Paradise, Boreal Druid, Delighted Halfling, Elvish Mystic, Fyndhorn Elves, Llanowar Elves, Elvish Spirit Guide, Lotus Petal, Sol Ring, Utopia Sprawl, Wild Growth, Dryad Arbor, Memnite, Ornithopter, Phyrexian Walker, Shield Sphere, Ancient Tomb, Gaea's Cradle, Gemstone Caverns, Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth, fetch lands, dual lands, and basics form the development shell. Preserve green first and white second unless a legal decisive line needs colorless burst from Ancient Tomb, Sol Ring, or Lotus Petal.

  • Sideboard modules: Path to Exile adds creature removal, Rest in Peace attacks graveyards, Drannith Magistrate attacks cast-from-outside or commander-style plans, Stony Silence and Collector Ouphe attack artifacts while potentially constraining Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, and Sol Ring, Linvala, Keeper of Silence attacks activated creature abilities, Reclamation Sage, Krosan Grip, and Force of Vigor answer artifacts or enchantments, and Burrenton Forge-Tender protects against red damage plans. Choose hate only when it disrupts the opponent more than it harms this deck's own engine.

Primary Win Conditions

  • Gaea's Cradle scaling into Finale of Devastation is the cleanest main win path when the battlefield already contains several creatures and the legal mana display supports a large X spell. Set up by preserving mana creatures and zero-mana bodies such as Memnite, Ornithopter, Phyrexian Walker, and Shield Sphere; execute by tutoring or casting Finale of Devastation for the creature that makes combat lethal or functionally decisive. Prioritize this line when Gaea's Cradle is active, the deck has enough bodies to attack, and protection from Silence, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Veil of Summer, Sylvan Safekeeper, Delighted Halfling, or Allosaurus Shepherd can cover the decisive turn. Delay it when a visible board wipe, removal window, or missing attacker count makes the legal action high risk without lethal pressure.

  • Untap-engine mana conversion is the preferred win path when the hand or battlefield shows Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, Quirion Ranger, Scryb Ranger, Wirewood Symbiote, Hyrax Tower Scout, Village Bell-Ringer, Mobilize, Vitalize, Emiel the Blessed, Staff of Domination, or Umbral Mantle with enough creatures or mana sources to loop meaningful mana. Set up by keeping untappers out of combat, protecting the engine piece, and using Green Sun's Zenith, Chord of Calling, Worldly Tutor, Eladamri's Call, Summoner's Pact, Natural Order, Eldritch Evolution, Altar of Bone, Recruiter of the Guard, Woodland Bellower, Shared Summons, or Tooth and Nail to find the missing component. Execute only through legal Veles actions that expose the actual untap, blink, equip, activate, or mana-payment choices; do not assume a loop is deterministic unless the rules engine presents repeatable profitable actions. Prioritize this line over fair combat when the opponent is faster, when Brigid, Clachan's Heart has stabilized attackers, or when a protected engine turn can end the game before another full opponent turn.

  • Tutor-chain payoff is the best primary plan when mana is abundant but the exact finisher is absent. Use Ranger of Eos, Recruiter of the Guard, Woodland Bellower, Brightglass Gearhulk, Shared Summons, Tooth and Nail, Green Sun's Zenith, Chord of Calling, Invasion of Ikoria, and Finale of Devastation to turn mana into the specific missing role: protection first if facing open interaction, engine second if mana can snowball, finisher third if the board already attacks well. Card text check required before assuming exact payoff behavior for Brightglass Gearhulk, Invasion of Ikoria, Disciple of Freyalise, Sowing Mycospawn, Badgermole Cub, Formidable Speaker, Elite Interceptor, Flash Thompson, Spider-Fan, Voice of Victory, Nature's Rhythm, Starfield Shepherd, or Talon Gates of Madara beyond legal action text.

Secondary Win Conditions

  • Controlled combat is the fallback win path when Brigid, Clachan's Heart and the creature count can suppress attacks while small bodies accumulate damage. Prioritize attacks only when they do not strand Gaea's Cradle, Chord of Calling, convoke-like lines, sacrifice tutors, or a needed blocker. Use Swords to Plowshares, Endurance, Boseiju, Who Endures, Haywire Mite, Witch Enchanter, Emerald Charm, and Legolas's Quick Reflexes to clear the permanent or stack obstacle that prevents attacks from mattering.

  • Equipment or artifact-conversion pressure is a backup only when Veles legal actions show Stoneforge Mystic, Staff of Domination, or Umbral Mantle advancing the current board. Do not treat Stoneforge Mystic as a generic win condition without a visible equipment action from the registered deck or engine output. Use Staff of Domination and Umbral Mantle as mana sinks or engine pieces before treating them as combat buffs.

  • Recursion value wins games that trade heavily. Use Eternal Witness to rebuy the card that restores the active plan: Swords to Plowshares when dying, Finale of Devastation or Tooth and Nail when mana is ready, Silence or Veil of Summer before forcing through a win, or a tutor when the engine is one card short. Avoid low-impact recursion if a visible graveyard card immediately answers the opponent's decisive permanent or rebuilds a removed win condition.

  • Creature-land pressure matters when Dryad Arbor, Gaea's Cradle, Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth, and small accelerants make mana and bodies simultaneously. Protect Dryad Arbor when it is needed for creature count, sacrifice costs, or mana; spend it only when Natural Order, Eldritch Evolution, Altar of Bone, or combat math clearly improves the board.

Emergency Lines

  • When behind on life, stop racing unless the legal action wins this turn or prevents the next lethal attack. Stabilize with Brigid, Clachan's Heart, Swords to Plowshares, Endurance, Haywire Mite, Witch Enchanter, and blockers before spending mana on slow tutors. Use Ancient Tomb only when the life loss enables a survival action or decisive protected turn.

  • When behind on board, preserve creatures that make mana, block profitably, or enable Gaea's Cradle; do not sacrifice key material to Natural Order, Eldritch Evolution, Altar of Bone, or Crop Rotation unless the fetched card changes the board immediately. Search first for removal, commander stabilization, or an untap line that produces blockers and mana.

  • When behind on cards, turn tutors into engines instead of one-for-one pressure. Favor Ranger of Eos, Recruiter of the Guard, Woodland Bellower, Shared Summons, Tooth and Nail, Recruitment Officer, Esper Sentinel, or Eternal Witness when legal actions show they replace material. Do not spend Summoner's Pact unless the pact target creates a decisive line or the next upkeep payment is visibly manageable.

  • When behind on mana, prioritize green sources, one-mana accelerants, Utopia Sprawl, Wild Growth, Sol Ring, Lotus Petal, Elvish Spirit Guide, and land-finding actions from Crop Rotation or fetch lands. Do not keep or execute lines that need Gaea's Cradle to be good before enough creatures are already visible.

  • When engines or win conditions are removed, pivot to the remaining axis instead of rebuilding the same fragile card. If Staff of Domination or Umbral Mantle is gone, look for Finale of Devastation, combat control, or Tooth and Nail; if Finale of Devastation is unavailable, convert mana through Woodland Bellower, Brightglass Gearhulk, Shared Summons, or sustained commander pressure. If graveyard recursion is disrupted, treat Eternal Witness as unavailable value and make current-board choices from legal actions only.

Resource Model

  • Life is a spendable resource only when the action advances mana, survival, or a protected kill. Take Ancient Tomb damage for Brigid, Clachan's Heart, a tutor, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Staff of Domination, or Umbral Mantle when the resulting turn changes the game; avoid repeated Ancient Tomb use for marginal pressure when racing.

  • Hand cards convert into mana and roles, not raw card count. Prioritize hands that pair a green source with Arbor Elf, Avacyn's Pilgrim, Birds of Paradise, Boreal Druid, Elvish Mystic, Fyndhorn Elves, Llanowar Elves, Delighted Halfling, Utopia Sprawl, Wild Growth, Sol Ring, Lotus Petal, or Elvish Spirit Guide. Treat expensive cards such as Tooth and Nail, Shared Summons, Brightglass Gearhulk, Sowing Mycospawn, Disciple of Freyalise, Staff of Domination, and Umbral Mantle as stranded until the visible mana engine supports them.

  • Mana is the deck's main conversion engine. Small creatures, enchanted lands, Gaea's Cradle, Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth, Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, Quirion Ranger, Scryb Ranger, Wirewood Symbiote, Hyrax Tower Scout, Village Bell-Ringer, Mobilize, and Vitalize turn board presence into repeated mana or action windows. Card text check required for Nature's Rhythm, Starfield Shepherd, Badgermole Cub, Formidable Speaker, Elite Interceptor, Flash Thompson, Spider-Fan, Voice of Victory, and Talon Gates of Madara; use only legal action text for those cards.

  • Board presence is both pressure and infrastructure. Preserve mana creatures, Dryad Arbor, zero-mana bodies such as Memnite, Ornithopter, Phyrexian Walker, and Shield Sphere, and utility creatures when they enable Gaea's Cradle, Chord of Calling, Natural Order, Eldritch Evolution, Altar of Bone, or combat stabilization from Brigid, Clachan's Heart.

  • Graveyard value is selective, not a full recursion plan. Use Eternal Witness to recover the card that restores the active plan, especially Swords to Plowshares, Silence, Veil of Summer, Finale of Devastation, Tooth and Nail, or a missing tutor. Do not overvalue graveyard lines when Rest in Peace is expected or active.

  • Exile is mostly a warning zone. Track exiled tutors, finishers, and protection because singleton Commander redundancy is limited; if Finale of Devastation, Natural Order, Staff of Domination, or Umbral Mantle is gone, pivot to commander control, combat, or another tutor chain.

  • Lands are strategic objects, not just sources. Gaea's Cradle scales with creatures, Boseiju, Who Endures is interaction, Dryad Arbor is a creature and land, fetch lands fix colors, and Crop Rotation should sacrifice a land only when the target land changes the turn or prevents a loss.

  • Sacrifice fodder must be priced by future utility. Spend Dryad Arbor, expendable zero-mana creatures, or redundant mana creatures to Natural Order, Eldritch Evolution, or Altar of Bone only when the resulting card is better than the lost creature count, mana, blocker, and Gaea's Cradle scaling.

  • Information is worth mana when it prevents the wrong commitment. Visible open mana, known revealed cards, stack objects, and legal interaction windows should decide whether to cast Silence, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Veil of Summer, or Legolas's Quick Reflexes before committing a tutor or engine.

  • Sideboard bullets convert narrow matchups into locked roles. Path to Exile, Rest in Peace, Drannith Magistrate, Stony Silence, Linvala, Keeper of Silence, Collector Ouphe, Reclamation Sage, Krosan Grip, Force of Vigor, and Burrenton Forge-Tender should be treated as targeted resources that may slow the deck's own mana or artifact plan, so value them by visible opposing pressure and not by generic hate-card strength.

Mana Guide

  • Keep opening hands with early green mana plus acceleration unless the hand has no realistic second action. A strong keep normally shows a green-producing land or fetchable green source with Arbor Elf, Avacyn's Pilgrim, Birds of Paradise, Boreal Druid, Elvish Mystic, Fyndhorn Elves, Llanowar Elves, Delighted Halfling, Utopia Sprawl, Wild Growth, Green Sun's Zenith, Sol Ring, Lotus Petal, or Elvish Spirit Guide.

  • Mulligan hands that need Gaea's Cradle to function before enough creatures are visible. Gaea's Cradle is explosive after creature deployment, but it is not an opening green source by itself. Treat hands with only colorless or conditional mana as risky unless the legal opening line produces green immediately.

  • Fetch green first when the hand is acceleration-heavy. Use Windswept Heath, Wooded Foothills, Verdant Catacombs, Misty Rainforest, Marsh Flats, Arid Mesa, and Flooded Strand to enable Snow-Covered Forest, Savannah, Temple Garden, or Lush Portico as legal engine output permits. Fetch white early when holding Swords to Plowshares, Silence, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Recruiter of the Guard, Stoneforge Mystic, Eladamri's Call, or sideboard interaction.

  • Sequence enchanted lands for repeat value. Prefer placing Utopia Sprawl and Wild Growth on a land that will remain untapped or reusable with Arbor Elf, Quirion Ranger, or Scryb Ranger; avoid exposing the only green source to a line that strands the hand if the land is removed or bounced.

  • Play utility lands when their role is immediate. Boseiju, Who Endures should stay available as interaction when the opponent presents a decisive artifact, enchantment, or land threat through visible information. Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth improves color access and Gaea's Cradle usability, but do not assume it fixes every restriction unless the rules engine exposes legal mana actions.

  • Use Ancient Tomb for tempo-critical jumps, not routine payments. Cast a two-mana accelerator, commander, protection piece, or engine component ahead of curve when the life payment changes the next turn cycle; use colored lands instead when life total is under pressure and the same action remains legal.

  • Spend burst mana only for decisive conversion. Lotus Petal, Elvish Spirit Guide, and Gemstone Caverns should enable protected acceleration, a tutor chain, emergency interaction, or a same-turn engine; avoid spending them to make a low-impact creature when normal land sequencing suffices.

  • Play land before draw or tutor when the land unlocks visible legal actions this turn. Make the land drop first to cast Silence, pay for interaction, activate a known ability, or increase Gaea's Cradle output when the action list already shows the relevant line. Delay the land drop when using Recruitment Officer, Esper Sentinel triggers, a tutor, or draw-like selection could reveal whether white, green, Boseiju, Who Endures, Gaea's Cradle, or a fetch land is the correct land for the turn.

  • Count creature mana before committing attacks or sacrifices. Leaving back mana creatures can be correct when Chord of Calling, Finale of Devastation, Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, Mobilize, Vitalize, or commander interaction needs bodies or untappers. Attack with mana creatures only when the damage matters more than next-turn mana and visible blockers or removal do not punish the loss.

Mulligan Guide

  • Strong keep: keep green source plus one-mana acceleration and a conversion card. Examples include Snow-Covered Forest or a fetch land into green with Arbor Elf, Birds of Paradise, Elvish Mystic, Fyndhorn Elves, Llanowar Elves, Delighted Halfling, Utopia Sprawl, or Wild Growth, plus Green Sun's Zenith, Worldly Tutor, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Recruiter of the Guard, Chord of Calling, Natural Order, or Finale of Devastation.

  • Medium keep: keep two lands with green and white access plus one meaningful spell chain even without a turn-one creature. Examples include fetch land plus Command Tower, Bountiful Promenade, Savannah, Temple Garden, or Lush Portico with Esper Sentinel, Swords to Plowshares, Eladamri's Call, Grand Abolisher, Stoneforge Mystic, or Recruitment Officer, especially on the draw.

  • Risky keep: keep Gaea's Cradle only when the hand already has castable creatures or zero-mana bodies. Memnite, Ornithopter, Phyrexian Walker, Shield Sphere, Dryad Arbor, and one-mana mana creatures can make Gaea's Cradle explosive, but Gaea's Cradle plus expensive tutors and no first green source is a ship.

  • Automatic ship: ship hands with no legal early green mana, hands relying only on Ancient Tomb or Gaea's Cradle to start, and hands with only expensive conversion such as Tooth and Nail, Shared Summons, Brightglass Gearhulk, Sowing Mycospawn, Disciple of Freyalise, Staff of Domination, or Umbral Mantle without acceleration.

  • Matchup-dependent keep: keep reactive white hands when the opponent is visibly fast or commander-centric. Swords to Plowshares, Silence, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Endurance, Haywire Mite, Witch Enchanter, Veil of Summer, or Legolas's Quick Reflexes can justify a slower keep if mana casts them on time.

  • Play/draw adjustment: on the play, prioritize a turn-one accelerator into turn-two commander, protection, or tutor. On the draw, accept a slower hand with Esper Sentinel, Recruitment Officer, Eladamri's Call, Worldly Tutor, or removal because the extra card can find the second land or missing accelerator.

  • Trap hand: do not keep a hand that looks powerful only after a fragile sacrifice line. Natural Order, Eldritch Evolution, Altar of Bone, or Crop Rotation needs expendable material and a target that changes the game; if sacrificing Dryad Arbor, the only mana creature, or the only land collapses the hand, ship or choose a lower-risk line.

Turn Arc

  • Turn 1: cast green acceleration before value when possible. Preferred plays are land into Arbor Elf, Avacyn's Pilgrim, Birds of Paradise, Boreal Druid, Elvish Mystic, Fyndhorn Elves, Llanowar Elves, Delighted Halfling, Utopia Sprawl, or Wild Growth; deviate for Sol Ring, Lotus Petal, Gemstone Caverns, or Elvish Spirit Guide only when the burst creates a stronger turn-two action.

  • Turn 1 deviation: deploy Esper Sentinel when green acceleration is absent but white is available, or when opponent sequencing makes early taxation better than a low-impact creature. Play Memnite, Ornithopter, Phyrexian Walker, or Shield Sphere early when they enable Gaea's Cradle, convoke for Chord of Calling, or sacrifice/tutor math.

  • Turn 2: convert acceleration into protection, commander control, or tutoring. Preferred plays include Brigid, Clachan's Heart when combat pressure matters, Grand Abolisher or Ranger-Captain of Eos before a protected follow-up, Stoneforge Mystic only if legal text offers a relevant equipment line, and Eladamri's Call, Worldly Tutor, Green Sun's Zenith, or Recruiter of the Guard for the missing engine or stabilizer.

  • Turn 2 deviation: hold up interaction when the opponent's visible line is more dangerous than development. Use Swords to Plowshares, Endurance, Boseiju, Who Endures, Haywire Mite, Emerald Charm, Veil of Summer, or Legolas's Quick Reflexes according to legal actions and stack state; do not fire protection before an opposing stack action unless committing this turn requires it.

  • Turn 3: start the commitment gate for mana engines or tutor chains. Choose Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, Quirion Ranger, Scryb Ranger, Wirewood Symbiote, Hyrax Tower Scout, Village Bell-Ringer, Emiel the Blessed, Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, Mobilize, or Vitalize only when visible mana, bodies, and protection support the line; Card text check required for Nature's Rhythm, Starfield Shepherd, Badgermole Cub, Formidable Speaker, Elite Interceptor, Flash Thompson, Spider-Fan, Voice of Victory, and Talon Gates of Madara.

  • Turns 4-5: turn mana into a winning position, not just more setup. Use Finale of Devastation, Chord of Calling, Natural Order, Eldritch Evolution, Altar of Bone, Shared Summons, Woodland Bellower, Brightglass Gearhulk, Invasion of Ikoria, or Tooth and Nail when the target or pair is visible as legal and advances lethal, lock, engine, or survival.

  • Turns 4-5 deviation: stabilize before combo when behind on board. Brigid, Clachan's Heart, Swords to Plowshares, Endurance, Witch Enchanter, Haywire Mite, Eternal Witness, and sideboard hate should take priority over speculative engine pieces when life total, attackers, or stack pressure make waiting unsafe.

  • Late game: close within two turn cycles after stabilizing. Prefer Finale of Devastation, a large Gaea's Cradle turn, Staff of Domination or Umbral Mantle mana conversion, protected tutor chains, or commander-backed combat control; if no closer is legal, preserve resources, recur with Eternal Witness, and avoid sacrificing the creature count that powers the next decisive turn.

Card Roles

  • Deploy one-mana acceleration before value unless the stack or visible pressure demands interaction. Arbor Elf, Avacyn's Pilgrim, Birds of Paradise, Boreal Druid, Elvish Mystic, Fyndhorn Elves, Llanowar Elves, and Delighted Halfling are the deck's best opening cards because they turn two-mana tutors, Brigid, Clachan's Heart, protection, and engine pieces on early; preserve them when Gaea's Cradle, Chord of Calling, convoke, or untap effects matter more than chip damage.

  • Treat burst mana as a commitment tool, not as permission to empty weak hands. Sol Ring, Lotus Petal, Elvish Spirit Guide, Ancient Tomb, and Gemstone Caverns are strongest when they create a protected Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, tutor, or engine turn; avoid spending one-shot mana on low-impact setup if the hand then cannot pay for interaction or follow-up.

  • Use free bodies to scale mana, convoke, sacrifice, and tutor math. Memnite, Ornithopter, Phyrexian Walker, Shield Sphere, and Dryad Arbor support Gaea's Cradle, Chord of Calling, Natural Order, Eldritch Evolution, Altar of Bone, Crop Rotation, Mobilize, and Vitalize; do not trade them away unless the exchange protects life total, commander access, or a decisive tutor line.

  • Cast Esper Sentinel early when it taxes the opponent before the deck commits. It is a velocity card rather than a closer, and it is best when backed by mana development or protection; avoid delaying green acceleration for it unless white pressure or opponent sequencing makes the tax immediately relevant.

  • Use Brigid, Clachan's Heart as combat control and stabilization, not automatic curve filler. Commit the commander when visible creatures, attacks, or combat math make her ability relevant, and avoid exposing her into open interaction if the hand already has a cleaner tutor or engine line.

  • Protect decisive turns with effects that constrain the opponent's response window. Silence, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Veil of Summer, Legolas's Quick Reflexes, Sylvan Safekeeper, and Voice of Victory should be held for stack fights, removal-heavy turns, or combo commitment unless a current legal action prevents immediate loss; Card text check required for exact Voice of Victory assumptions.

  • Use efficient interaction at the first decisive opposing window, not after the permanent has already generated its value. Swords to Plowshares answers creature threats, Endurance handles graveyard or library-pressure moments, Boseiju, Who Endures answers legal artifact, enchantment, or land targets, Haywire Mite covers small artifact/enchantment problems, Witch Enchanter is removal plus body when legal, and Emerald Charm is conditional utility requiring card-text verification at runtime.

  • Treat creature tutors as role selectors. Worldly Tutor, Eladamri's Call, Recruiter of the Guard, Ranger of Eos, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Woodland Bellower, Summoner's Pact, Green Sun's Zenith, Chord of Calling, Finale of Devastation, Shared Summons, Invasion of Ikoria, and Archdruid's Charm should find the missing card for the current role: mana engine, protection, hate, stabilizer, or finisher; Card text check required for exact Invasion of Ikoria and Archdruid's Charm modes before relying on a target class.

  • Use noncreature tutors and sacrifice tutors only when the payoff justifies the material or tempo cost. Enlightened Tutor should locate a decisive artifact or enchantment such as Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, Utopia Sprawl, or Wild Growth; Natural Order, Eldritch Evolution, Altar of Bone, and Crop Rotation require expendable material and a visible plan, because sacrificing the only mana creature, only land, or only board presence can lose to normal interaction.

  • Build mana engines around untap effects only after checking current legal mana and bodies. Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, Quirion Ranger, Scryb Ranger, Wirewood Symbiote, Hyrax Tower Scout, Village Bell-Ringer, Emiel the Blessed, Mobilize, and Vitalize are engine pieces that can multiply mana or reuse creatures; Card text check required for unfamiliar or exact loop assumptions, especially if Forge exposes only partial candidate text.

  • Convert large mana into a win rather than a bigger board. Finale of Devastation, Tooth and Nail, Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, Emiel the Blessed, Woodland Bellower, Brightglass Gearhulk, and Shared Summons are late-game conversion cards; do not cast them merely because mana is available if the selected target or pair does not create lethal, lock pressure, survival, or another immediate decisive turn.

  • Use recursion to regain the exact card that changes the current exchange. Eternal Witness is best for returning spent protection, interaction, a tutor, Crop Rotation, Finale of Devastation, or an engine piece; avoid defaulting to the most expensive graveyard card when a cheaper card preserves the next priority window.

  • Treat card-advantage creatures as mana sinks that must still affect the board. Recruitment Officer, Disciple of Freyalise, Stoneforge Mystic, Sowing Mycospawn, and Brightglass Gearhulk can convert resources into material, but each requires runtime card-text and legal-action checks before assuming a specific search, draw, equipment, land, or token line. Hold them if casting them taps out under lethal pressure or strands interaction.

  • Use auras and land support to amplify stable green mana. Utopia Sprawl, Wild Growth, Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth, and Gaea's Cradle reward creature count and untap effects, especially Arbor Elf, Quirion Ranger, and Scryb Ranger; avoid hands where these cards are powerful only after multiple fragile creatures survive.

  • Treat uncertain new or niche cards as conditional tools until verified by visible rules text. Badgermole Cub, Elite Interceptor, Flash Thompson, Spider-Fan, Formidable Speaker, Nature's Rhythm, Starfield Shepherd, and Talon Gates of Madara all require Card text check required before the pilot assigns them an engine, protection, combat, or tutor role; if legal actions show a clear deterministic effect, choose only from that visible text.

  • Fetch and dual lands should support early green while preserving white interaction. Arid Mesa, Flooded Strand, Marsh Flats, Misty Rainforest, Verdant Catacombs, Windswept Heath, Wooded Foothills, Savannah, Temple Garden, Lush Portico, Command Tower, Bountiful Promenade, Snow-Covered Forest, and Snow-Covered Plains should sequence toward turn-one green and timely white for Swords to Plowshares, Silence, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Recruiter of the Guard, and sideboard cards; avoid unnecessary shock or Ancient Tomb damage when no decisive line is being enabled.

  • Let matchup role decide whether a card is pressure, protection, or bait. Against fast creature boards, prioritize Brigid, Clachan's Heart, removal, and bodies; against stack-heavy or removal-heavy opponents, prioritize Silence, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Veil of Summer, and redundant tutors; against permanent engines, prioritize Boseiju, Who Endures, Haywire Mite, Witch Enchanter, and tutor access to hate.

Card Hover Notes

Brigid, Clachan's Heart

  • Deck role: Main deck/commander, 1 copy, core commander and mana-engine anchor.
  • Role type: engine piece; mechanic enabler; threat/clock; role glue.
  • Deck-specific job: Brigid, Clachan's Heart creates a 1/1 green and white Kithkin token when it enters or transforms into this face, then can pay {G} at the beginning of your first main phase to become Brigid, Doun's Mind; the back face is the important engine face because it taps for X {G} or X {W}, where X is the number of other creatures you control.
  • Timing: Cast when you can protect or immediately convert the token plus creature count; transform in first main phase when the resulting tap mana advances Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, Emiel the Blessed, Finale of Devastation, Chord of Calling, or protection mana.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes three mana including one white, then optional {G} or {W} first-main payments; produces a Kithkin body, then potentially large green or white mana based on other creatures.
  • Mode map: Front face creates a token and can pay {G} to transform; back face taps for creature-count mana and can pay {W} at first main to transform back. Staying on Brigid, Doun's Mind is usually correct once mana conversion matters.
  • Partners / packages: Mana conversion with Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, Emiel the Blessed, Hyrax Tower Scout, Village Bell-Ringer, Mobilize, Vitalize, Badgermole Cub; protection from Silence, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Veil of Summer, Sylvan Safekeeper, Legolas's Quick Reflexes, Allosaurus Shepherd.
  • Role peers: No direct peer; closest role overlap is Gaea's Cradle for creature-count mana and Ashaya, Soul of the Wild for turning board presence into mana infrastructure.
  • Failure modes: Combined Oracle metadata is missing, but supplied face text is enough for transform and mana decisions; do not assume the older Brigid-style combat damage ability because the Card Reference only shows token creation and transform-to-mana text.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Against removal-heavy or stack-heavy opponents, wait for Grand Abolisher, Silence, Ranger-Captain of Eos, or Veil of Summer; against creature pressure, the token and 3/2 body matter, but the real pivot is transforming before a protected engine turn.

Allosaurus Shepherd

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, one-mana protection creature and Elf payoff slot.
  • Role type: protection/evasion; threat/clock; mechanic payoff.
  • Deck-specific job: Makes itself uncounterable and makes green spells you control uncounterable, especially Green Sun's Zenith, Chord of Calling, Finale of Devastation, Natural Order, Nature's Rhythm, Tooth and Nail, Veil of Summer, and Archdruid's Charm; its {4}{G}{G} ability turns current Elf creatures into 5/5 Dinosaur attackers.
  • Timing: Deploy early versus blue stack decks; save the six-mana activation for a turn where Allosaurus Shepherd, Arbor Elf, Boreal Druid, Elvish Mystic, Fyndhorn Elves, Llanowar Elves, Quirion Ranger, Seedcradle Witch, or Formidable Speaker can produce meaningful combat damage.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes one green mana, later six mana; outputs counter resistance and a creature-based pump finish.
  • Partners / packages: Protects green tutor/finish spells named Finale of Devastation, Tooth and Nail, Chord of Calling, Green Sun's Zenith, Natural Order; combat partners are exact Elf bodies Arbor Elf, Boreal Druid, Elvish Mystic, Fyndhorn Elves, Llanowar Elves, Quirion Ranger, Seedcradle Witch, Formidable Speaker.
  • Role peers: Grand Abolisher, Silence, Ranger-Captain of Eos, and Veil of Summer also protect commitment turns but do not make green spells uncounterable.
  • Failure modes: Pumping Elves does not help non-Elf bodies such as Brigid, Clachan's Heart, Birds of Paradise, Memnite, or Ornithopter; do not spend six mana unless combat matters or a lethal swing is visible.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: High priority into blue counterspell decks and low priority against creature boards where removal or mana development is the bottleneck.

Altar of Bone

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, sacrifice-based creature tutor.
  • Role type: tutor/search; engine enabler; role glue.
  • Deck-specific job: Sacrifices a creature as an additional cost, then searches any creature card to hand, making it a commitment tutor for Emiel the Blessed, Hyrax Tower Scout, Village Bell-Ringer, Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, Woodland Bellower, Endurance, Grand Abolisher, or Ranger-Captain of Eos.
  • Timing: Cast only when the sacrificed creature is less important than the searched role; good fodder includes Memnite, Ornithopter, Phyrexian Walker, Shield Sphere, a spent Dryad Arbor, or a redundant mana creature when mana remains functional.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {G}{W}, the card itself, and one creature; outputs a revealed creature card in hand.
  • Partners / packages: Sacrifice material named Memnite, Ornithopter, Phyrexian Walker, Shield Sphere, Dryad Arbor; high-impact finds named Emiel the Blessed, Hyrax Tower Scout, Village Bell-Ringer, Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, Grand Abolisher, Endurance.
  • Role peers: Eladamri's Call searches without sacrifice; Eldritch Evolution and Natural Order sacrifice material but put the target onto the battlefield.
  • Failure modes: Sacrificing the only mana creature, only blocker, or only Gaea's Cradle enabler can collapse the turn; because this is a sorcery, it cannot answer an opponent's instant-speed combo window.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong when a specific creature solves a visible problem; risky under open removal if losing the sacrificed creature leaves no recovery.

Ancient Tomb

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, burst colorless mana resource.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp.
  • Deck-specific job: Accelerates generic costs on Brigid, Clachan's Heart, Grand Abolisher, Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, Tooth and Nail, Shared Summons, Brightglass Gearhulk, and Sowing Mycospawn; it also supplies true {C} for Sowing Mycospawn kicker.
  • Timing: Use early when two colorless mana creates a meaningful tempo jump; avoid routine activations once life total is under pressure unless the payment protects or wins the turn.
  • Inputs / outputs: Taps for {C}{C} and deals 2 damage to you.
  • Partners / packages: Casts generic-heavy cards Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, Sol Ring, Tooth and Nail, Shared Summons, Sowing Mycospawn; pairs with colored sources Savannah, Temple Garden, Command Tower, Bountiful Promenade, Snow-Covered Forest, Snow-Covered Plains.
  • Role peers: Sol Ring gives repeatable colorless without life loss; Gaea's Cradle gives green creature-count mana instead.
  • Failure modes: It does not produce green or white, so hands relying on it alone cannot cast Arbor Elf, Swords to Plowshares, Silence, or Eladamri's Call.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Excellent against slow decks; dangerous against burn or fast combat where the 2 life shortens the opponent's clock.

Arbor Elf

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, one-mana Forest untapper and early acceleration piece.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp; engine piece.
  • Deck-specific job: Untaps target Forest, which includes Snow-Covered Forest, Savannah, Temple Garden, Lush Portico, Dryad Arbor, and any land made a Forest by Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth; it becomes explosive with Utopia Sprawl or Wild Growth.
  • Timing: Preferred turn-one play when a Forest is available; preserve it over chip attacks when Gaea's Cradle, Chord of Calling, Mobilize, Vitalize, or enchanted-land mana is relevant.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes one green mana to cast; outputs repeat untap mana through Forest targets.
  • Partners / packages: Best with Utopia Sprawl, Wild Growth, Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth, Savannah, Temple Garden, Lush Portico, Snow-Covered Forest; Elf synergies with Allosaurus Shepherd and Wirewood Symbiote.
  • Role peers: Elvish Mystic, Fyndhorn Elves, and Llanowar Elves are simpler green mana creatures; Quirion Ranger and Scryb Ranger also reuse Forest-based mana.
  • Failure modes: Does nothing without a Forest target and is affected by summoning sickness; losing the enchanted Forest can strand both the Aura and this mana plan.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: High-value opener in fair and combo matchups; block with it only when survival beats the next-turn mana.

Archdruid's Charm

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, triple-green modal tutor/removal/disenchant spell.
  • Role type: modal utility; tutor/search; interaction-removal; hate piece.
  • Deck-specific job: Chooses between searching for a creature card or registered land card, turning your creature into one-sided fight damage with a +1/+1 counter, or exiling target artifact or enchantment.
  • Timing: Hold until a mode is decisive: land search for Gaea's Cradle or Boseiju, Who Endures, creature search for Emiel the Blessed or Endurance, removal mode when your creature survives or the target must die, exile mode for a visible artifact/enchantment engine.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {G}{G}{G}; outputs a creature to hand, a land onto battlefield tapped, a counter plus damage from your target creature to a target creature you don't control, or artifact/enchantment exile.
  • Mode map: Search mode finds a creature card or registered land card and puts the registered land card onto battlefield tapped; counter/damage mode targets one creature you control and one creature you don't control; exile mode targets an artifact or enchantment.
  • Partners / packages: Land targets Gaea's Cradle, Boseiju, Who Endures, Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth, Talon Gates of Madara; creature targets Emiel the Blessed, Hyrax Tower Scout, Endurance, Grand Abolisher, Woodland Bellower; damage carriers Brigid, Clachan's Heart, Endurance, Ashaya, Soul of the Wild.
  • Role peers: Crop Rotation finds only lands at instant speed with a sacrifice cost; Eladamri's Call finds only creatures; Krosan Grip answers artifacts/enchantments with split second.
  • Failure modes: Triple green is demanding; the damage mode can fail if your creature is removed before resolution or has too little power.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Prioritize exile mode versus artifact/enchantment combo; prioritize search mode when mana or a missing creature piece determines the turn.

Arid Mesa

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, fetch land for Plains-typed fixing.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp.
  • Deck-specific job: Searches for a Mountain or Plains card, but this deck has no registered Mountain card; practical targets are Snow-Covered Plains, Savannah, Temple Garden, and Lush Portico.
  • Timing: Fetch early for white when holding Brigid, Clachan's Heart, Swords to Plowshares, Silence, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Recruiter of the Guard, or Eladamri's Call; fetch green-white duals when the hand needs green.
  • Inputs / outputs: Taps, pays 1 life, and sacrifices itself; puts a legal Plains-typed target onto the battlefield.
  • Partners / packages: Fixes for exact white cards Swords to Plowshares, Silence, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Stoneforge Mystic; can get Forest Plains cards Savannah, Temple Garden, Lush Portico for Arbor Elf, Utopia Sprawl, and Wild Growth.
  • Role peers: Windswept Heath has the cleanest Forest/Plains map; Flooded Strand and Marsh Flats also find Plains targets.
  • Failure modes: Do not claim red access from this land in this registered list; the Mountain half has no target here.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Against burn, avoid unnecessary shock plus fetch life unless the colored mana prevents more damage.

Ashaya, Soul of the Wild

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, high-impact land-creature engine piece.
  • Role type: engine piece; mechanic enabler; threat/clock.
  • Deck-specific job: Sets power/toughness to the number of lands you control and makes nontoken creatures you control Forest lands in addition to their other types, enabling Forest-return and Forest-untap lines with Quirion Ranger, Scryb Ranger, Arbor Elf, Utopia Sprawl, and Wild Growth.
  • Timing: Cast when you can gain immediate mana/untap value or protect it; avoid exposing it as a five-mana do-nothing into open removal.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {3}{G}{G}; outputs a large body and turns nontoken creatures into Forest lands affected by summoning sickness.
  • Partners / packages: Works with Quirion Ranger, Scryb Ranger, Arbor Elf, Badgermole Cub, Utopia Sprawl, Wild Growth, Gaea's Cradle, Sylvan Safekeeper.
  • Role peers: Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth gives lands the Forest type but does not make creatures into lands; Gaea's Cradle also scales with creature count.
  • Failure modes: Tokens are not made Forest lands by Ashaya; nontoken creatures remain affected by summoning sickness when using land mana abilities gained this way.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong against fair boards and engine races; risky against land destruction or removal that punishes creature-land dependencies.

Avacyn's Pilgrim

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, one-mana white-producing accelerator.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp.
  • Deck-specific job: Converts early green into repeat white mana for Brigid, Clachan's Heart, Swords to Plowshares, Silence, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Eladamri's Call, and sideboard white hate.
  • Timing: Excellent turn-one play when white is needed on turn two; keep untapped if white interaction is more important than attacking.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {G}; taps for {W} after summoning sickness clears.
  • Partners / packages: Supports exact white cards Swords to Plowshares, Silence, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Recruiter of the Guard, Stoneforge Mystic, Path to Exile, Rest in Peace, Drannith Magistrate.
  • Role peers: Birds of Paradise and Command Tower also produce white; Elvish Mystic, Fyndhorn Elves, and Llanowar Elves produce green instead.
  • Failure modes: It does not make green after it resolves, so it cannot pay green-heavy costs like {G}{G}{G} for Archdruid's Charm.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Prioritize against creature-combo and control when early white interaction or protection is needed.

Badgermole Cub

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, creature-mana multiplier and land-animation role player.
  • Role type: engine piece; mechanic enabler; mana/fixing/ramp.
  • Deck-specific job: Earthbend 1 turns target land you control into a 0/0 creature with haste and a +1/+1 counter, and the static trigger adds an additional {G} whenever you tap a creature for mana.
  • Timing: Cast when you already have or can create creature mana from Brigid, Doun's Mind, Birds of Paradise, Elvish Mystic, Dryad Arbor, Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, or mana creatures; choose the earthbend land carefully.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{G}; outputs one animated land body and extra green from creature mana activations.
  • Partners / packages: Boosts Brigid, Doun's Mind, Birds of Paradise, Arbor Elf, Avacyn's Pilgrim, Boreal Druid, Elvish Mystic, Fyndhorn Elves, Llanowar Elves, Dryad Arbor, Ashaya, Soul of the Wild.
  • Role peers: Gaea's Cradle scales from creature count; Utopia Sprawl and Wild Growth multiply land mana rather than creature mana.
  • Failure modes: Earthbending Gaea's Cradle, Savannah, Temple Garden, or the only colored land exposes a mana source to creature removal and combat; use a less critical land unless the haste creature or mana math is decisive.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong in engine mirrors and slow games; weak when opponents punish an animated mana source or kill mana creatures on sight.

Birds of Paradise

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, one-mana any-color accelerator with flying.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp; role glue.
  • Deck-specific job: Fixes green-white requirements and can produce any color for Talon Gates of Madara-style flexibility, while its flying body can convoke Chord of Calling, scale Gaea's Cradle, and receive untaps.
  • Timing: Preferred turn-one play when the hand has mixed green and white costs; rarely attack unless the damage matters more than mana.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {G}; taps for one mana of any color after summoning sickness.
  • Partners / packages: Enables Eladamri's Call, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Archdruid's Charm, Finale of Devastation, Tooth and Nail, Badgermole Cub, Vitalize, Mobilize.
  • Role peers: Avacyn's Pilgrim makes only white; Elvish Mystic, Fyndhorn Elves, and Llanowar Elves make green; Lotus Petal fixes once.
  • Failure modes: A 0/1 body dies to incidental damage and should not be traded unless survival requires it.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Especially valuable when white interaction and green engine cards must both be available by turn two.

Boreal Druid

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, one-mana snow Elf that produces true colorless.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp.
  • Deck-specific job: Provides {C} for generic payments and exact colorless needs, especially Sowing Mycospawn kicker, while contributing to Elf count for Allosaurus Shepherd and Wirewood Symbiote.
  • Timing: Good early when green source is already present; worse than green-producing elves if the hand needs Green Sun's Zenith, Archdruid's Charm, or Finale of Devastation.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {G}; taps for {C} after summoning sickness.
  • Partners / packages: Helps pay generic costs on Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, Tooth and Nail, Shared Summons; exact-colorless partner for Sowing Mycospawn.
  • Role peers: Ancient Tomb, Sol Ring, Gemstone Caverns, and Talon Gates of Madara also produce colorless; Elvish Mystic, Fyndhorn Elves, and Llanowar Elves produce green.
  • Failure modes: Colorless mana cannot pay green or white pips, so do not treat this as a full fixer.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Keep when generic acceleration matters; deprioritize when early colored interaction is required.

Boseiju, Who Endures

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, green land and channel interaction.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp; interaction-removal; hate piece; modal utility.
  • Deck-specific job: Taps for {G} or channels for {1}{G} to destroy target artifact, enchantment, or nonbasic land an opponent controls; the opponent may search for a land card with a basic land type.
  • Timing: Play as a land when green mana is needed; hold in hand when a visible artifact, enchantment, or nonbasic land can stop Gaea's Cradle, Staff of Domination, Finale of Devastation, or survival.
  • Inputs / outputs: Land mode produces green; channel mode discards Boseiju, consumes mana reduced by legendary creatures, destroys a qualifying opponent permanent, and may give that player a basic-type land.
  • Mode map: Land face is repeat green mana; channel is instant-speed interaction from hand and is cheaper with legendary creatures such as Brigid, Clachan's Heart, Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, Emiel the Blessed, Flash Thompson, Spider-Fan.
  • Partners / packages: Answers opposing artifacts/enchantments/nonbasic lands that block Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, Gaea's Cradle, or creature tutoring; searchable by Crop Rotation, Archdruid's Charm, and Sowing Mycospawn.
  • Role peers: Haywire Mite, Witch Enchanter, Reclamation Sage, Krosan Grip, and Force of Vigor answer artifacts/enchantments; Crop Rotation can find Boseiju but does not itself remove.
  • Failure modes: Channel cannot hit creatures or basic lands, and giving a land can help the opponent if the target is low-impact.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Premium versus artifact, enchantment, and utility-land decks; just a green source when the opponent shows none of those targets.

Bountiful Promenade

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, green-white dual land.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp.
  • Deck-specific job: Produces {G} or {W} and usually enters untapped in multiplayer Commander when you have two or more opponents; in one-on-one testing it enters tapped unless the rules engine treats the opponent count differently.
  • Timing: Use early when it enters untapped and fixes both colors; in duel contexts plan around the tapped entry.
  • Inputs / outputs: Provides repeat green or white mana after it is usable.
  • Partners / packages: Casts exact early cards Arbor Elf, Avacyn's Pilgrim, Swords to Plowshares, Silence, Eladamri's Call, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos.
  • Role peers: Command Tower, Savannah, Temple Garden, and Lush Portico also cover green-white, with different entry and type properties.
  • Failure modes: It is not a Forest or Plains, so Arbor Elf, Utopia Sprawl, fetch lands, and Wild Growth interactions differ from Savannah, Temple Garden, or Lush Portico.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong fixing in pods; in duel simulations, tapped entry can cost tempo against fast decks.

Brightglass Gearhulk

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, top-end value body and low-cost permanent search payoff.
  • Role type: tutor/search; engine payoff; threat/clock.
  • Deck-specific job: On entry, may search up to two artifact, creature, and/or enchantment cards with mana value 1 or less, reveal them, and put them into hand; first strike and trample make it a real body.
  • Timing: Cast when two cheap cards matter more than a direct finisher; best when it finds a missing engine support plus protection or mana.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {G}{G}{W}{W}; outputs a 4/4 first strike trample artifact creature and up to two revealed low-cost artifact/creature/enchantment cards.
  • Partners / packages: High-priority hits include Sol Ring, Lotus Petal, Utopia Sprawl, Wild Growth, Haywire Mite, Sylvan Safekeeper, Allosaurus Shepherd, Quirion Ranger, Wirewood Symbiote, Esper Sentinel, Delighted Halfling, Memnite, Ornithopter, Phyrexian Walker, Shield Sphere.
  • Role peers: Ranger of Eos finds two mana-value-1-or-less creatures; Enlightened Tutor finds one artifact/enchantment to top of library.
  • Failure modes: It does not put found cards onto the battlefield, and the restrictive mana cost can be stranded without both green and white.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Good in grindy games; slow against fast combo unless it finds Haywire Mite, Sylvan Safekeeper, or Allosaurus Shepherd for the exact visible need.

Chord of Calling

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, instant battlefield creature tutor and convoke payoff.
  • Role type: tutor/search; engine enabler; role glue.
  • Deck-specific job: Searches for a creature card with mana value X or less and puts it directly onto the battlefield; convoke lets creatures pay {1} or one mana of that creature's color.
  • Timing: Hold for the last safe instant window when possible; fire earlier if the target prevents a loss or enables a protected engine turn.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {X}{G}{G}{G} plus optional tapped creatures through convoke; outputs a creature directly on battlefield.
  • Partners / packages: Finds Endurance for graveyards, Grand Abolisher or Ranger-Captain of Eos for protection, Hyrax Tower Scout or Village Bell-Ringer for untap conversion, Haywire Mite for noncreature artifact/enchantment exile, Emiel the Blessed for blink loops.
  • Role peers: Finale of Devastation also puts a creature onto battlefield at sorcery speed; Green Sun's Zenith is cheaper but only finds green creatures.
  • Failure modes: Tapping creatures for convoke reduces blockers, Gaea's Cradle output after resolution, and available mana-creature activations; triple green still matters.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Excellent versus combo when it can find hate at instant speed; use carefully against creature pressure if convoke taps necessary blockers.

Command Tower

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, reliable commander-color fixing land.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp.
  • Deck-specific job: Adds one mana of any color in Brigid's green-white color identity, covering early green accelerants and white protection/removal.
  • Timing: Prioritize as an untapped dual source when the hand has both Arbor Elf-style acceleration and Swords to Plowshares/Silence-style interaction.
  • Inputs / outputs: Produces one green or white mana.
  • Partners / packages: Casts Eladamri's Call, Brigid, Clachan's Heart, Grand Abolisher, Archdruid's Charm, Finale of Devastation, Swords to Plowshares, Veil of Summer.
  • Role peers: Savannah, Temple Garden, Bountiful Promenade, and Lush Portico also fix green-white; Command Tower lacks Forest/Plains types.
  • Failure modes: Cannot be fetched by Arid Mesa, Flooded Strand, Marsh Flats, Misty Rainforest, Verdant Catacombs, Windswept Heath, or Wooded Foothills because it has no basic land type.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: A low-risk color source in unknown matchups; keep it over painful or tapped alternatives when tempo matters.

Crop Rotation

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, instant land tutor with sacrifice cost.
  • Role type: tutor/search; mana/fixing/ramp; role glue.
  • Deck-specific job: Sacrifices a land as an additional cost, then puts any land card from library onto the battlefield; this turns spare lands into Gaea's Cradle, Boseiju, Who Endures, Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth, Talon Gates of Madara, Dryad Arbor, or color fixing.
  • Timing: Cast only when the land found changes the turn or prevents a loss; instant speed allows surprise Boseiju, Who Endures access only if later channel from hand is not needed, so usually use it for battlefield land value.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {G}, the spell, and one land; outputs a land directly onto battlefield.
  • Partners / packages: Targets Gaea's Cradle for creature-count mana, Boseiju, Who Endures for future green/channel access, Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth for Forest typing, Talon Gates of Madara for phasing/mana, Dryad Arbor for creature material.
  • Role peers: Archdruid's Charm can find a land without sacrificing one; Sowing Mycospawn finds a land on cast.
  • Failure modes: Sacrificing the only green or white source can strand the hand; getting Gaea's Cradle with too few creatures can be worse than a normal land.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: High ceiling in slow games; risky into land destruction or counterspells because the land sacrifice is paid up front.

Delighted Halfling

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, one-mana accelerator and legendary-spell protection piece.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp; protection/evasion.
  • Deck-specific job: Taps for {C} for any use, or one mana of any color to cast a legendary spell, making that spell uncounterable; key legendary spells are Brigid, Clachan's Heart, Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, Emiel the Blessed, Flash Thompson, Spider-Fan, and sideboard Linvala, Keeper of Silence.
  • Timing: Best early when a legendary spell is the next commitment; preserve it when uncounterability is more important than a small block.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {G}; outputs colorless mana or protected colored mana for legendary spells only.
  • Partners / packages: Protects/casts Brigid, Clachan's Heart, Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, Emiel the Blessed, Flash Thompson, Spider-Fan, Linvala, Keeper of Silence.
  • Role peers: Allosaurus Shepherd protects green spells broadly; Grand Abolisher and Silence protect the whole turn.
  • Failure modes: The any-color mana cannot pay for nonlegendary spells such as Swords to Plowshares, Eladamri's Call, or Finale of Devastation.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: High priority into blue counterspell decks when Brigid, Ashaya, or Emiel must resolve.

Disciple of Freyalise

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, MDFC land option and creature-based draw/life payoff.
  • Role type: modal utility; engine payoff; mana/fixing/ramp.
  • Deck-specific job: As Garden of Freyalise, it is a green land that may enter untapped for 3 life; as Disciple of Freyalise, it may sacrifice another creature on entry to gain X life and draw X cards equal to that creature's power.
  • Timing: Play as land when mana is missing; cast the creature when sacrificing a high-power or expendable creature actually refills the hand or stabilizes life.
  • Inputs / outputs: Land side produces {G}; creature side costs {3}{G}{G}{G} and can convert another creature into life and cards.
  • Mode map: Garden of Freyalise is early mana with a 3-life untapped choice; Disciple of Freyalise is late resource conversion and should not be chosen if sacrificing the creature breaks the engine.
  • Partners / packages: Sacrifice candidates include a large Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, pumped Brigid, Clachan's Heart, Woodland Bellower, Brightglass Gearhulk, or expendable Memnite/Ornithopter only when small draw is still useful.
  • Role peers: Eternal Witness recovers a card without sacrificing; Ranger of Eos and Brightglass Gearhulk generate material by searching.
  • Failure modes: Combined Oracle metadata is missing; supplied face text confirms the land/creature choice, but use engine legal actions for MDFC edge cases and timing.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong in attrition and burn races; weak when graveyard hate or removal makes a six-mana creature too slow.

Dryad Arbor

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, land creature mana resource and tutor/sacrifice material.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp; engine fuel/material.
  • Deck-specific job: Is both a Forest land and a 1/1 green Dryad creature, so it can be fetched or searched as a Forest/green creature, taps for {G}, counts for Gaea's Cradle, and supplies material for Natural Order, Eldritch Evolution, Altar of Bone, Chord of Calling, and blocking.
  • Timing: Fetch or tutor when a creature body matters; avoid exposing it early if a creature removal spell would also destroy a needed land drop.
  • Inputs / outputs: Enters as a land creature affected by summoning sickness; later taps for {G}.
  • Partners / packages: Fetchable by Misty Rainforest, Verdant Catacombs, Windswept Heath, Wooded Foothills; searchable by Green Sun's Zenith for X=0, Finale of Devastation for X=0, Natural Order fodder, Crop Rotation target.
  • Role peers: Memnite, Ornithopter, Phyrexian Walker, and Shield Sphere are free creature material but not lands; Snow-Covered Forest is safer mana but not a creature.
  • Failure modes: Dies to creature removal and cannot tap for mana the turn it enters unless it has haste from an effect such as earthbend; do not sacrifice it if that loses your only green.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Valuable against slow decks for creature-count scaling; risky against red damage and creature sweepers.

Eladamri's Call

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, instant creature tutor to hand.
  • Role type: tutor/search; role glue.
  • Deck-specific job: Searches any creature card, reveals it, and puts it into hand, selecting the missing role without sacrificing material.
  • Timing: Usually cast at opponent end step or before your draw when mana would otherwise be unused; cast earlier if you need a same-turn Endurance, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Haywire Mite, or engine creature.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {G}{W} and a card; outputs a revealed creature card in hand.
  • Partners / packages: Finds protection Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Sylvan Safekeeper; engines Emiel the Blessed, Hyrax Tower Scout, Village Bell-Ringer, Ashaya, Soul of the Wild; interaction Endurance, Haywire Mite, Witch Enchanter.
  • Role peers: Worldly Tutor costs less but puts the card on top; Chord of Calling puts a creature onto battlefield.
  • Failure modes: Revealing the target gives opponents information, and putting it into hand still requires mana and a safe cast window.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Excellent unknown-matchup card because it can become protection, graveyard hate, removal, or a finisher.

Eldritch Evolution

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, sacrifice tutor that upgrades a creature directly onto battlefield.
  • Role type: tutor/search; engine enabler.
  • Deck-specific job: Sacrifices a creature as an additional cost, searches for a creature with mana value up to sacrificed creature's mana value plus 2, puts it onto battlefield, then exiles itself.
  • Timing: Use when the sacrificed creature is expendable and the new creature immediately changes the board; avoid when removal on the target line would leave you down both material and spell.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{G}{G}, the spell, and one creature; outputs a larger creature directly and exiles Eldritch Evolution.
  • Partners / packages: Upgrade Memnite, Ornithopter, Phyrexian Walker, Shield Sphere, or Dryad Arbor into one- or two-mana utility; upgrade three-mana creatures like Hyrax Tower Scout or Ranger-Captain of Eos into Emiel the Blessed, Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, or Woodland Bellower depending on legal mana value.
  • Role peers: Natural Order sacrifices only a green creature and finds a green creature without mana-value cap; Altar of Bone puts any creature into hand.
  • Failure modes: Sorcery timing and up-front sacrifice are punishable; do not sacrifice the only mana creature or only blocker unless the target wins or stabilizes.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong for assembling a specific hate creature; risky into counterspells if no protection from Silence, Grand Abolisher, or Veil of Summer.

Elite Interceptor

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, prepared one-drop with sorcery tap/untap card replacement.
  • Role type: modal utility; protection/evasion; card selection; role glue.
  • Deck-specific job: The creature enters prepared, letting you later cast a copy of Rejoinder while prepared; Rejoinder may tap or untap target creature and draws a card.
  • Timing: Deploy early as a one-mana body; spend the prepared spell when tapping a blocker, untapping Brigid, Doun's Mind, or replacing the card with a draw matters more than preserving option value.
  • Inputs / outputs: Creature side consumes {W} and adds a 1/2 body; Rejoinder consumes prepared status and {1}{W} sorcery timing to tap or untap target creature and draw.
  • Mode map: Creature aspect is board material; prepared Rejoinder is sorcery-speed tap/untap plus card draw. It is not instant interaction unless the engine exposes a legal timing exception.
  • Partners / packages: Untap targets Brigid, Doun's Mind, Arbor Elf, Birds of Paradise, Gaea's Cradle-enabled mana creatures; tap targets opposing blockers or attackers before combat.
  • Role peers: Flash Thompson, Spider-Fan taps/untaps at flash speed; Hyrax Tower Scout untaps a creature on entry.
  • Failure modes: Combined Oracle metadata is missing; supplied face text confirms prepared and Rejoinder, but route prepared-copy timing through legal actions.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Useful in tempo and creature stalls; low impact when the game is about stack protection or artifact/enchantment hate.

Elvish Mystic

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, one-mana green accelerator.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp; engine fuel/material.
  • Deck-specific job: Provides repeat {G} for early tutors, green pips, Finale of Devastation, Archdruid's Charm, and creature-count scaling.
  • Timing: Preferred turn-one play when available; preserve for mana, Gaea's Cradle, Chord of Calling, and untap effects rather than attacking for one.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {G}; taps for {G} after summoning sickness.
  • Partners / packages: Works with Mobilize, Vitalize, Badgermole Cub, Allosaurus Shepherd, Wirewood Symbiote, Gaea's Cradle, Chord of Calling.
  • Role peers: Fyndhorn Elves and Llanowar Elves are direct peers; Arbor Elf is better with Forest Auras.
  • Failure modes: Vulnerable to sweepers and damage; do not count its mana the turn it enters.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Core keep signal in unknown matchups; block only if life total or commander survival requires it.

Elvish Spirit Guide

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, burst green mana card and backup Elf body.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp; engine fuel/material.
  • Deck-specific job: Exiles from hand to add {G}, enabling surprise early tutors, protection, or a decisive green spell; as a cast creature it is a 2/2 Elf Spirit that can be returned by Wirewood Symbiote only if on battlefield.
  • Timing: Exile when the green mana creates a meaningful same-turn action; cast as a creature only when body, Elf type, or creature count is worth three mana.
  • Inputs / outputs: Hand mode consumes the card for one green; creature mode consumes {2}{G} and outputs a 2/2 body.
  • Mode map: Hand-exile ability is one-shot mana; battlefield creature aspect is material for Gaea's Cradle, Allosaurus Shepherd, Wirewood Symbiote, and sacrifice tutors.
  • Partners / packages: Burst-casts Green Sun's Zenith, Veil of Summer, Crop Rotation, Natural Order, Finale of Devastation; Elf partners Allosaurus Shepherd, Wirewood Symbiote.
  • Role peers: Lotus Petal is one-shot any-color; Gemstone Caverns is pregame acceleration; mana creatures provide repeat mana.
  • Failure modes: Exiling it removes a green card from hand for Endurance evoke and cannot be recovered by Eternal Witness.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Best for racing combo or forcing a protected turn; weaker in attrition where the card body or hand count matters.

Emerald Charm

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, one-mana instant utility spell.
  • Role type: modal utility; interaction-removal; protection/evasion; role glue.
  • Deck-specific job: Chooses one: untap target permanent, destroy target non-Aura enchantment, or make target creature lose flying until end of turn.
  • Timing: Hold for a concrete target: untap Brigid, Doun's Mind, Gaea's Cradle, Staff of Domination, or a blocker; destroy a non-Aura enchantment that blocks the engine; remove flying before combat if it changes blocks or lethal.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {G}; outputs one untap, one non-Aura enchantment destruction, or a temporary anti-flying effect.
  • Mode map: Untap mode targets any permanent; enchantment mode targets only non-Aura enchantments; flying mode targets a creature and removes flying for the turn.
  • Partners / packages: Untap targets Brigid, Doun's Mind, Gaea's Cradle, Arbor Elf, Staff of Domination; removal overlaps with Haywire Mite, Witch Enchanter, Boseiju, Who Endures, Krosan Grip.
  • Role peers: Vitalize and Mobilize untap creatures only; Krosan Grip destroys artifact/enchantment with split second.
  • Failure modes: It cannot destroy Aura enchantments or artifact cards such as Sol Ring, Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, or Grafdigger's Cage, and flying-loss mode does not tap, kill, or reduce the creature.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Useful against enchantment lock pieces and evasive creature combat; low value into spell-combo with no enchantments or flyers.

Emiel the Blessed

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, blink-engine centerpiece and combo enabler.
  • Role type: combo enabler; engine piece; engine payoff.
  • Deck-specific job: Pays {3} to exile another target creature you control and return it to battlefield, reusing Hyrax Tower Scout, Village Bell-Ringer, Eternal Witness, Recruiter of the Guard, Ranger of Eos, Brightglass Gearhulk, or Witch Enchanter; its ETB trigger can add counters for {G/W}.
  • Timing: Commit when you can immediately blink a profitable creature or protect Emiel; with Brigid, Doun's Mind producing at least four mana from other creatures, blinking Hyrax Tower Scout can net mana by untapping Brigid.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {2}{W}{W} and {3} per blink; outputs repeated ETB triggers, untaps through Hyrax Tower Scout/Village Bell-Ringer, and optional +1/+1 counters.
  • Partners / packages: Combo partners Brigid, Doun's Mind, Hyrax Tower Scout, Village Bell-Ringer, Badgermole Cub; value partners Eternal Witness, Recruiter of the Guard, Ranger of Eos, Woodland Bellower, Witch Enchanter.
  • Role peers: Staff of Domination and Umbral Mantle also convert large creature mana into repeat actions.
  • Failure modes: Emiel targets another creature you control, not itself; removal on the blink target can stop the loop, and {3} per activation is expensive without Brigid or Cradle mana.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Excellent against midrange if protected; too slow against fast combo unless paired with Grand Abolisher, Silence, or Ranger-Captain of Eos.

Endurance

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, flash graveyard interaction and reach blocker.
  • Role type: hate piece; interaction-removal; lifegain/stabilization; modal utility.
  • Deck-specific job: With flash and reach, can ambush flyers or pressure planes; on entry, up to one target player puts all cards from their graveyard on the bottom of their library in a random order.
  • Timing: Hold for a real graveyard window, library-risk line, or surprise block; evoke by exiling a green card only when tempo or survival beats preserving the extra card.
  • Inputs / outputs: Normal cast consumes {1}{G}{G}; evoke consumes a green card from hand and produces the ETB before Endurance is sacrificed by evoke.
  • Mode map: Normal mode leaves a 3/4 flash reach creature; evoke mode is free graveyard/library interaction at the cost of another green card and does not leave the body.
  • Partners / packages: Green cards for evoke include expendable Elvish Spirit Guide, redundant mana creatures, or late Utopia Sprawl; tutor access through Chord of Calling, Eladamri's Call, Worldly Tutor, Green Sun's Zenith.
  • Role peers: Rest in Peace is permanent graveyard hate but conflicts with Eternal Witness; Bojuka Bog is not registered.
  • Failure modes: Target player, not you, chooses no cards individually because the whole graveyard moves; after flashback/delve/escape costs are already paid, this usually does not undo the spell on the stack.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Premium against reanimation, escape, flashback, graveyard combo, and self-mill; acceptable as a blocker only when combat survival matters.

Enlightened Tutor

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, instant artifact/enchantment top-deck tutor.
  • Role type: tutor/search; combo tutor; role glue.
  • Deck-specific job: Searches artifact or enchantment, reveals it, shuffles, and puts it on top; key game-changing finds are Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, Sol Ring, Utopia Sprawl, Wild Growth, Haywire Mite, and post-board Rest in Peace or Stony Silence.
  • Timing: Usually cast at the latest safe end step before your draw; cast sooner if discard, shuffle timing, or a needed top-deck draw from Staff of Domination matters.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {W} and a card; outputs the chosen artifact/enchantment on top of library, not in hand.
  • Partners / packages: Combo finds Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle; mana finds Sol Ring, Lotus Petal, Utopia Sprawl, Wild Growth; hate finds Haywire Mite, Rest in Peace, Stony Silence.
  • Role peers: Stoneforge Mystic finds only Umbral Mantle; Worldly Tutor finds creatures to top instead.
  • Failure modes: Card disadvantage until you draw the searched card; weak if an opponent can shuffle your library or if you need the card immediately in hand.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Against graveyard decks, top-deck Rest in Peace; against artifact-heavy decks, choose between Stony Silence and self-harming artifact engines carefully.

Esper Sentinel

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, early tax draw creature.
  • Role type: card selection; engine fuel/material; threat/clock.
  • Deck-specific job: Taxes each opponent's first noncreature spell each turn by its power or draws you a card, pressuring stack-heavy decks before you commit engines.
  • Timing: Strong turn-one play when green acceleration is absent or already covered; later, cast before passing into opponents' noncreature turns.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {W}; outputs card draw unless the opponent pays {X}, where X is Esper Sentinel's power.
  • Partners / packages: Power boosts from Seedcradle Witch, Allosaurus Shepherd only if it were an Elf is not applicable, and Finale of Devastation can make it tax more; protection from Sylvan Safekeeper, Veil of Summer, Grand Abolisher.
  • Role peers: Recruitment Officer is a mana sink for creatures; Brightglass Gearhulk and Ranger of Eos produce selected material later.
  • Failure modes: It does not stop spells; opponents may pay, and one toughness makes it easy to remove.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: High value into control and spell combo; lower priority against creature-heavy aggro where mana acceleration and blockers matter more.

Eternal Witness

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, recursion creature and grind engine.
  • Role type: recursion; role glue.
  • Deck-specific job: Returns target card from your graveyard to hand, recovering the exact card that restores the current role: Swords to Plowshares, Silence, Veil of Summer, Crop Rotation, Finale of Devastation, Tooth and Nail, Staff of Domination, or a spent tutor.
  • Timing: Cast when the returned card will be usable before the opponent's next decisive window; blink with Emiel the Blessed when repeated recursion beats new tutor targets.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{G}{G}; outputs a 2/1 body and one target graveyard card to hand.
  • Partners / packages: Blink/reuse with Emiel the Blessed; tutor access via Green Sun's Zenith, Chord of Calling, Finale of Devastation, Woodland Bellower.
  • Role peers: Nature's Rhythm can be cast from graveyard via harmonize but only for itself; no other main card broadly returns spent cards.
  • Failure modes: Rest in Peace exiles graveyards and shuts off this value; do not choose the most expensive card if a cheap protection or removal spell is the actual answer.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Excellent versus removal-heavy decks; cut or devalue when your plan includes Rest in Peace.

Finale of Devastation

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, scalable creature tutor and primary finisher.
  • Role type: tutor/search; reach/finisher; combo tutor.
  • Deck-specific job: Searches library and/or graveyard for a creature with mana value X or less and puts it onto battlefield; if X is 10 or more, creatures you control get +X/+X and haste until end of turn.
  • Timing: Use early for Dryad Arbor or a missing creature only if development demands it; save for X≥10 when Gaea's Cradle, Brigid, Doun's Mind, or untap engines can create lethal combat.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {X}{G}{G}; outputs a creature from library/graveyard, and at X≥10 outputs a team pump/haste finish.
  • Partners / packages: Early targets Dryad Arbor, Quirion Ranger, Sylvan Safekeeper; engine targets Emiel the Blessed, Hyrax Tower Scout, Ashaya, Soul of the Wild; finish support from Gaea's Cradle, Brigid, Doun's Mind, Mobilize, Vitalize.
  • Role peers: Green Sun's Zenith is cheaper for green creatures only; Chord of Calling is instant but lacks X≥10 pump.
  • Failure modes: Sorcery speed exposes the commitment; X below 10 may be only setup, not a win.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Save as closer against control once protected; use as stabilization tutor against aggro only when the found body changes survival.

Flash Thompson, Spider-Fan

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, flash legendary tap/untap trick.
  • Role type: modal utility; protection/evasion; role glue.
  • Deck-specific job: Enters with flash and chooses one or both: Heckle taps target creature, Hero Worship untaps target creature; this can disrupt combat, reuse Brigid, Doun's Mind, or surprise untap a blocker.
  • Timing: Best during combat or end step when the target is known; as a legendary spell, it can be cast with uncounterable any-color mana from Delighted Halfling.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{W}; outputs a 2/2 legendary body and one or two target creature tap/untap effects.
  • Mode map: Heckle taps target creature; Hero Worship untaps target creature; choosing both can tap an opposing creature and untap your Brigid, Doun's Mind, mana creature, or blocker.
  • Partners / packages: Untap targets Brigid, Doun's Mind, Birds of Paradise, Avacyn's Pilgrim, Hyrax Tower Scout; protection/timing partners Delighted Halfling, Silence, Grand Abolisher.
  • Role peers: Elite Interceptor can tap/untap at sorcery timing; Hyrax Tower Scout only untaps target creature on entry.
  • Failure modes: Does not remove a creature or counter a spell; tapping an attacker after it has already attacked may not undo combat unless the legal window supports it.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Valuable against creature combat and surprise engine turns; lower value against noncreature combo.

Flooded Strand

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, fetch land for Plains-typed fixing.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp.
  • Deck-specific job: Searches for a Plains or Island card, but this deck has no registered Island card; practical targets are Snow-Covered Plains, Savannah, Temple Garden, and Lush Portico.
  • Timing: Fetch white when holding interaction/protection; fetch Savannah, Temple Garden, or Lush Portico when green is also needed.
  • Inputs / outputs: Taps, pays 1 life, sacrifices itself, and puts a legal Plains-typed card onto battlefield.
  • Partners / packages: Fixes for Swords to Plowshares, Silence, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Stoneforge Mystic; Forest Plains targets support Arbor Elf, Utopia Sprawl, Wild Growth.
  • Role peers: Arid Mesa and Marsh Flats also fetch Plains targets; Windswept Heath has the best exact green-white target set.
  • Failure modes: Do not claim blue access from this registered deck; no Island card is present.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Preserve life against burn; use at end step when not needing immediate mana to hide target choice.

Formidable Speaker

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, creature tutor body and permanent untapper.
  • Role type: tutor/search; discard outlet; engine piece.
  • Deck-specific job: On entry, may discard a card to search a creature card, reveal it, and put it into hand; {1}, {T} untaps another target permanent, which can reuse Brigid, Doun's Mind, Gaea's Cradle, Staff of Domination, or an enchanted land.
  • Timing: Cast when you have an expendable card or need the untap body; use the discard trigger for a precise target, not for vague value.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {2}{G}; may consume one hand card to output a revealed creature; activated ability consumes {1} and tapping Speaker to untap another permanent.
  • Partners / packages: Discard lower-impact late cards such as extra land or stranded zero body when searching Emiel the Blessed, Hyrax Tower Scout, Endurance, Grand Abolisher; untap targets Brigid, Doun's Mind, Gaea's Cradle, Staff of Domination, Savannah with Utopia Sprawl.
  • Role peers: Eladamri's Call searches without discard; Emerald Charm untaps any permanent once at instant speed.
  • Failure modes: Discarding a tutor, protection spell, or land drop can be worse than skipping the trigger; the activated untap cannot target Formidable Speaker itself.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Good in grindy engine games; avoid in fast games if three mana plus discard does not affect the board.

Fyndhorn Elves

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, one-mana green accelerator.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp; engine fuel/material.
  • Deck-specific job: Provides repeat {G} for early development, green-heavy tutor costs, and creature-count scaling.
  • Timing: Preferred turn-one play; keep back when Chord of Calling, Gaea's Cradle, Mobilize, Vitalize, or a next-turn engine line needs the mana.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {G}; taps for {G} after summoning sickness.
  • Partners / packages: Works with Badgermole Cub, Allosaurus Shepherd, Wirewood Symbiote, Gaea's Cradle, Mobilize, Vitalize.
  • Role peers: Elvish Mystic and Llanowar Elves are direct peers; Boreal Druid produces colorless instead.
  • Failure modes: Small body is easy to kill; do not trade it in combat if it is enabling a decisive mana turn.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Core against unknown and combo; expendable blocker only under lethal pressure.

Gaea's Cradle

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, premier creature-count mana land.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp; engine payoff.
  • Deck-specific job: Taps for {G} for each creature you control, turning Memnite, Ornithopter, Phyrexian Walker, Shield Sphere, Dryad Arbor, mana dorks, Brigid's Kithkin token, and zero-mana artifact creatures into explosive green mana.
  • Timing: Play or tutor when at least two creatures make it better than a normal land or when the burst enables Finale of Devastation, Chord of Calling, Tooth and Nail, Staff of Domination, or Umbral Mantle.
  • Inputs / outputs: Produces green equal to your current creature count.
  • Partners / packages: Scales with Memnite, Ornithopter, Phyrexian Walker, Shield Sphere, Dryad Arbor, Brigid, Clachan's Heart token, Ranger of Eos, Village Bell-Ringer, Mobilize, Vitalize.
  • Role peers: Brigid, Doun's Mind also turns creatures into green/white mana; Ancient Tomb gives fixed colorless acceleration.
  • Failure modes: Produces no mana with zero creatures and is vulnerable to legendary land conflict if copied by opponent effects; do not rely on it as the only opening source.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Key versus slow decks and combo races; protect creature count against sweepers before committing a Cradle finish.

Gemstone Caverns

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, pregame acceleration land and conditional fixer.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp; modal utility.
  • Deck-specific job: If in opening hand and you are not starting, it may begin on battlefield with a luck counter by exiling a card; with luck counter it taps for any color, otherwise {C}.
  • Timing: Use pregame mode only when the exiled card is less important than starting ahead on mana; otherwise play as a colorless land.
  • Inputs / outputs: Pregame mode consumes a hand card and outputs an untapped land with any-color mana; normal mode outputs colorless.
  • Mode map: Luck-counter mode fixes green or white; no-counter mode is colorless only and helps generic costs or exact {C} for Sowing Mycospawn.
  • Partners / packages: Enables early Arbor Elf, Swords to Plowshares, Silence, Eladamri's Call, Grand Abolisher; colorless mode helps Sol Ring, Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, Sowing Mycospawn.
  • Role peers: Lotus Petal is one-shot any-color; Elvish Spirit Guide is one-shot green.
  • Failure modes: Exiling the only green source, only white source, or unique payoff such as Finale of Devastation can make the hand worse despite acceleration.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: More attractive on the draw against fast combo or tempo; less attractive in attrition where card count matters.

Grand Abolisher

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, proactive turn-protection hatebear.
  • Role type: protection/evasion; hate piece.
  • Deck-specific job: During your turn, opponents cannot cast spells or activate abilities of artifacts, creatures, or enchantments, clearing safer windows for Natural Order, Eldritch Evolution, Finale of Devastation, Tooth and Nail, Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, and Brigid engine turns.
  • Timing: Cast before the decisive turn when white mana is available and opponent interaction is likely; do not expose it into removal if waiting with Silence or Veil of Summer is stronger.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {W}{W}; outputs a 2/2 body and turn-based restriction.
  • Partners / packages: Protects Finale of Devastation, Natural Order, Eldritch Evolution, Tooth and Nail, Emiel the Blessed, Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, Gaea's Cradle.
  • Role peers: Silence is one-shot and broader for spell casting; Ranger-Captain of Eos stops noncreature spells for a turn by sacrifice.
  • Failure modes: Does not stop opponents from activating lands, planeswalkers, or graveyard abilities unless the source type is artifact/creature/enchantment; only applies during your turn.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Premium into control, removal-heavy decks, and artifact/creature ability interaction; lower value against battlefield aggro.

Green Sun's Zenith

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, scalable green creature battlefield tutor.
  • Role type: tutor/search; engine enabler.
  • Deck-specific job: Searches a green creature card with mana value X or less, puts it onto battlefield, then shuffles itself into library; X=0 can find Dryad Arbor.
  • Timing: Use early for Dryad Arbor, Arbor Elf, Birds of Paradise, or Quirion Ranger when mana is missing; use later for Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, Endurance, Woodland Bellower, or Hyrax Tower Scout.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {X}{G}; outputs a green creature directly and recycles the spell into library.
  • Partners / packages: High-priority green targets Dryad Arbor, Arbor Elf, Birds of Paradise, Allosaurus Shepherd, Sylvan Safekeeper, Quirion Ranger, Scryb Ranger, Endurance, Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, Woodland Bellower.
  • Role peers: Finale of Devastation can find any creature from library/graveyard and finish at X≥10; Chord of Calling is instant and convoke-enabled.
  • Failure modes: Cannot find non-green creatures such as Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Recruiter of the Guard, Emiel the Blessed, or Brigid, Clachan's Heart.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Excellent role selector in unknown matchups; choose hate or protection over mana if a visible opponent line is imminent.

Haywire Mite

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, cheap tutorable artifact/enchantment exile creature.
  • Role type: interaction-removal; hate piece; engine fuel/material.
  • Deck-specific job: Sacrifices for {G} to exile target noncreature artifact or noncreature enchantment, and gains 2 life when it dies.
  • Timing: Deploy early when you need a body and a held answer; keep activation available for a decisive noncreature artifact/enchantment rather than firing at low-impact targets.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1} to cast, {G} plus sacrifice to activate; outputs exile and possibly 2 life when it dies.
  • Partners / packages: Searchable by Ranger of Eos, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Recruiter of the Guard, Brightglass Gearhulk, Enlightened Tutor; overlaps with Boseiju, Who Endures, Witch Enchanter, Reclamation Sage, Krosan Grip, Force of Vigor.
  • Role peers: Krosan Grip is harder to answer; Witch Enchanter leaves a body after destroying an opponent artifact/enchantment.
  • Failure modes: It cannot hit creatures, artifact creatures, or enchantment creatures because the target must be noncreature.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong versus artifact/enchantment engines; weak into creature-only decks except as Gaea's Cradle/convoke material.

Hyrax Tower Scout

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, creature untap combo piece.
  • Role type: combo enabler; engine piece.
  • Deck-specific job: On entry, untaps target creature, enabling Brigid, Doun's Mind reuse and Emiel blink loops.
  • Timing: Cast or tutor when the untap immediately creates mana, blocks, or a combo line; avoid using it as a vanilla 3/3 if a tutor target is precious.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {2}{G}; outputs a 3/3 body and one target creature untap.
  • Partners / packages: Combo with Emiel the Blessed plus Brigid, Doun's Mind when Brigid taps for enough mana; supports Village Bell-Ringer, Mobilize, Vitalize, Badgermole Cub, Gaea's Cradle.
  • Role peers: Village Bell-Ringer untaps your whole creature board with flash; Elite Interceptor and Flash Thompson, Spider-Fan can untap one creature with extra text.
  • Failure modes: If the target creature is summoning sick or cannot produce enough mana, the untap may be only tempo-neutral.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Prioritize when a protected engine turn is available; lower priority when removal is open and you lack Silence, Grand Abolisher, or Veil of Summer.

Invasion of Ikoria

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, non-Human creature tutor battle and transformed combat payoff.
  • Role type: modal utility; tutor/search; engine payoff; threat/clock.
  • Deck-specific job: Front face searches library and/or graveyard for a non-Human creature with mana value X or less and puts it onto battlefield; if defeated, it transforms into Zilortha, Apex of Ikoria, an 8/8 reach creature that lets non-Human creatures assign combat damage as though unblocked.
  • Timing: Use tutor side for a non-Human role piece when the battlefield can defend or defeat the Siege; attack the battle only when the 8/8 and combat-damage text matter more than opponent life pressure.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {X}{G}{G}; outputs a non-Human creature directly, then may later output an 8/8 if the Siege is defeated.
  • Mode map: Siege side is a tutor and chooses an opponent to protect it; transformed side is a combat payoff for non-Human creatures such as Allosaurus Shepherd, Birds of Paradise, Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, Emiel the Blessed, Endurance, Woodland Bellower.
  • Partners / packages: Non-Human tutor priorities include Emiel the Blessed, Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, Endurance, Hyrax Tower Scout, Birds of Paradise, Allosaurus Shepherd, Wirewood Symbiote, Woodland Bellower.
  • Role peers: Finale of Devastation finds any creature at sorcery speed; Green Sun's Zenith is restricted to green creatures.
  • Failure modes: Combined Oracle metadata is missing, but face text supplies the key battle/creature functions; it cannot find Human creatures such as Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Recruiter of the Guard, Village Bell-Ringer, or Witch Enchanter.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong in creature stalls and graveyard-recursion games; slower than direct hate against fast combo.

Legolas's Quick Reflexes

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, split-second protection, untap, and creature-removal trick.
  • Role type: protection/evasion; interaction-removal; engine piece.
  • Deck-specific job: Untaps target creature and gives it hexproof, reach, and a triggered ability that deals damage equal to its power to up to one target creature whenever it becomes tapped that turn.
  • Timing: Use in response to targeted removal, during combat to create a reach blocker, or before tapping Brigid, Doun's Mind/a large creature so the damage trigger can kill a creature.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {G}; outputs one untap, temporary hexproof/reach, and potential creature damage when the target becomes tapped.
  • Partners / packages: Best targets Brigid, Doun's Mind, Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, Endurance, Woodland Bellower, a pumped Umbral Mantle creature, or a needed mana creature.
  • Role peers: Sylvan Safekeeper grants shroud via land sacrifice; Veil of Summer protects from blue/black; Emerald Charm untaps without protection or damage.
  • Failure modes: Hexproof does not stop sweepers, sacrifice effects, or non-targeted damage; split second prevents most responses while on stack but not mana abilities.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Premium versus targeted removal and combat-based creature decks; less useful against non-targeting board wipes.

Llanowar Elves

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, one-mana green accelerator.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp; engine fuel/material.
  • Deck-specific job: Provides repeat {G} for early acceleration, green-heavy tutors, and creature-count scaling.
  • Timing: Turn-one priority when available; preserve for mana and untap effects unless combat damage is decisive.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {G}; taps for {G} after summoning sickness.
  • Partners / packages: Works with Badgermole Cub, Allosaurus Shepherd, Wirewood Symbiote, Gaea's Cradle, Mobilize, Vitalize.
  • Role peers: Elvish Mystic and Fyndhorn Elves are direct peers; Avacyn's Pilgrim fixes white instead.
  • Failure modes: Dies easily and cannot produce mana immediately.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong keep signal; block only when the next turn's mana is less important than survival.

Lotus Petal

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, zero-mana one-shot any-color artifact.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp; engine fuel/material.
  • Deck-specific job: Sacrifices for one mana of any color, enabling fast Grand Abolisher, Silence, Eladamri's Call, Brigid, Clachan's Heart, or green tutor turns.
  • Timing: Spend only when the temporary mana produces a meaningful timing gain; avoid using it for low-impact development if normal land sequencing works.
  • Inputs / outputs: Costs {0}; taps and sacrifices for one mana of any color.
  • Partners / packages: Enables exact early cards Swords to Plowshares, Silence, Eladamri's Call, Grand Abolisher, Green Sun's Zenith, Natural Order; searchable by Enlightened Tutor and Brightglass Gearhulk.
  • Role peers: Elvish Spirit Guide is one-shot green; Gemstone Caverns is pregame acceleration; Sol Ring is repeat colorless.
  • Failure modes: Stony Silence and Collector Ouphe stop its activated ability, so do not board those in without checking whether Petal speed matters.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Best against combo, tempo, and control when speed protects a decisive turn.

Lush Portico

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, tapped Forest Plains dual with surveil.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp; card selection.
  • Deck-specific job: Enters tapped, surveils 1, and later taps for {G} or {W}; because it is both Forest and Plains, it works with fetch lands, Arbor Elf, Utopia Sprawl, and Wild Growth.
  • Timing: Play early when tapped tempo is acceptable or surveil can smooth a slow hand; avoid as the first land if you need turn-one Arbor Elf, Elvish Mystic, or Swords to Plowshares.
  • Inputs / outputs: Costs a tapped-land tempo; outputs a top-card look with optional graveyard placement and green-white mana later.
  • Partners / packages: Fetchable by Arid Mesa, Flooded Strand, Marsh Flats, Misty Rainforest, Verdant Catacombs, Windswept Heath, Wooded Foothills; target for Arbor Elf, Utopia Sprawl.
  • Role peers: Savannah is untapped without surveil; Temple Garden can be untapped for 2 life.
  • Failure modes: Does not support turn-one one-mana plays because it enters tapped.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Better in slower matchups; costly against fast starts where the first mana must be untapped.

Marsh Flats

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, fetch land for Plains-typed fixing.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp.
  • Deck-specific job: Searches for a Plains or Swamp card, but this deck has no registered Swamp card; practical targets are Snow-Covered Plains, Savannah, Temple Garden, and Lush Portico.
  • Timing: Fetch white early for interaction, or a Forest Plains card when green is also needed.
  • Inputs / outputs: Taps, pays 1 life, sacrifices itself, and puts a legal Plains-typed target onto battlefield.
  • Partners / packages: Fixes for Swords to Plowshares, Silence, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Stoneforge Mystic; Forest Plains targets support Arbor Elf, Utopia Sprawl, Wild Growth.
  • Role peers: Arid Mesa and Flooded Strand also find Plains; Verdant Catacombs finds Forest targets instead of Plains if green is the priority.
  • Failure modes: Do not claim black access from this registered deck; no Swamp card is present.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Preserve life total versus burn unless the fetched source prevents more damage.

Memnite

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, zero-mana artifact creature material.
  • Role type: engine fuel/material; mana/fixing/ramp.
  • Deck-specific job: Adds a free creature for Gaea's Cradle, Chord of Calling convoke, Natural Order/Eldritch Evolution/Altar of Bone material where legal, and early blocking.
  • Timing: Deploy early when creature count matters; hold only if revealing artifact material into opposing hate is relevant.
  • Inputs / outputs: Costs {0}; outputs a 1/1 artifact creature body.
  • Partners / packages: Scales Gaea's Cradle, fuels Chord of Calling, sacrifices to Altar of Bone and Eldritch Evolution, searchable by Brightglass Gearhulk, Ranger of Eos, Ranger-Captain of Eos.
  • Role peers: Ornithopter, Phyrexian Walker, and Shield Sphere are direct zero-mana body peers with different stats.
  • Failure modes: Oracle metadata is missing in the reference, so rely only on supplied cost/type/stats; do not invent activated abilities or special text.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong with Cradle/tutor hands; weak topdeck when creature count is not being converted.

Misty Rainforest

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, fetch land for Forest-typed fixing.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp.
  • Deck-specific job: Searches for a Forest or Island card, but this deck has no registered Island card; practical targets are Snow-Covered Forest, Savannah, Temple Garden, Lush Portico, and Dryad Arbor.
  • Timing: Fetch green early for acceleration; choose Dryad Arbor only when a creature body is worth exposing a land to creature removal.
  • Inputs / outputs: Taps, pays 1 life, sacrifices itself, and puts a legal Forest-typed card onto battlefield.
  • Partners / packages: Enables Arbor Elf, Utopia Sprawl, Wild Growth, Green Sun's Zenith, Veil of Summer; can fetch Dryad Arbor for Gaea's Cradle, Chord of Calling, or sacrifice.
  • Role peers: Verdant Catacombs, Windswept Heath, and Wooded Foothills also fetch Forest targets.
  • Failure modes: Do not claim blue access from this registered deck; no Island card is present.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Use end-step fetch timing when possible; fetch basic Forest against life pressure or nonbasic hate.

Mobilize

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, one-shot sorcery creature untap burst.
  • Role type: engine piece; combo enabler.
  • Deck-specific job: Untaps each creature you control, resetting mana creatures, Brigid, Doun's Mind, and combat creatures for a burst turn.
  • Timing: Cast only when the untap produces more mana, blockers, or lethal pressure than the card spent; because it is a sorcery, it is not a combat trick or instant-speed response.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {G} and a card; outputs a board-wide creature untap for your creatures.
  • Partners / packages: Untaps Brigid, Doun's Mind, Arbor Elf, Avacyn's Pilgrim, Birds of Paradise, Boreal Druid, Elvish Mystic, Fyndhorn Elves, Llanowar Elves, Dryad Arbor.
  • Role peers: Vitalize is the instant-speed direct peer; Village Bell-Ringer untaps creatures on a flash body.
  • Failure modes: Low value if only one creature is tapped or if creatures cannot produce mana after untapping; sorcery timing means it cannot surprise-block.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: High ceiling in engine turns; poor when facing open removal and no protection.

Natural Order

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, green creature sacrifice tutor to battlefield.
  • Role type: tutor/search; engine enabler; combo tutor.
  • Deck-specific job: Sacrifices a green creature as an additional cost, then searches a green creature card and puts it onto battlefield, enabling Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, Woodland Bellower, Endurance, Hyrax Tower Scout, or Badgermole Cub.
  • Timing: Use only when the sacrifice target is expendable and the searched creature is immediately decisive; protect with Silence, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, or Veil of Summer when possible.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {2}{G}{G}, the spell, and one green creature; outputs a green creature directly onto battlefield.
  • Partners / packages: Sacrifice candidates Dryad Arbor, Elvish Mystic, Fyndhorn Elves, Llanowar Elves, Birds of Paradise; targets Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, Woodland Bellower, Endurance, Hyrax Tower Scout.
  • Role peers: Eldritch Evolution can sacrifice any creature but has a mana-value cap; Green Sun's Zenith needs no sacrifice.
  • Failure modes: Cannot find non-green creatures such as Emiel the Blessed, Grand Abolisher, or Ranger-Captain of Eos; losing the sacrificed creature to a countered spell is a major setback.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong versus midrange when protected; dangerous into blue interaction without Allosaurus Shepherd or proactive protection.

Nature's Rhythm

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, creature tutor with graveyard recast access.
  • Role type: tutor/search; modal utility; engine enabler.
  • Deck-specific job: Searches a creature with mana value X or less and puts it onto battlefield; harmonize lets you cast it from graveyard for {X}{G}{G}{G}{G}, optionally tapping a creature to reduce generic mana by that creature's power, then exiles the spell.
  • Timing: First cast as a battlefield tutor when the target matters now; harmonize later when a high-power creature or spare mana makes the graveyard cast efficient.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes X-based green mana; harmonize consumes graveyard access and may tap a creature for generic reduction, then exiles Nature's Rhythm.
  • Mode map: Normal sorcery is library-to-battlefield tutor; harmonize is graveyard casting with creature-tap cost reduction and exile after resolution.
  • Partners / packages: Targets Grand Abolisher, Emiel the Blessed, Hyrax Tower Scout, Endurance, Woodland Bellower, Ashaya, Soul of the Wild; reduction bodies include Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, Woodland Bellower, Brightglass Gearhulk.
  • Role peers: Finale of Devastation also finds from graveyard and can finish at X≥10; Chord of Calling uses convoke at instant speed.
  • Failure modes: Harmonize is poor under Rest in Peace and tapping a needed blocker or mana creature can cost the turn.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong in attrition; slower than instant hate against combo.

Ornithopter

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, zero-mana flying artifact creature material.
  • Role type: engine fuel/material; protection/evasion.
  • Deck-specific job: Adds a free flying creature for Gaea's Cradle, Chord of Calling, sacrifice costs, early blocking, and occasional evasive damage after Finale of Devastation X≥10.
  • Timing: Deploy early when creature count matters; hold only if artifact hate or information hiding matters.
  • Inputs / outputs: Costs {0}; outputs a 0/2 flying artifact creature.
  • Partners / packages: Works with Gaea's Cradle, Chord of Calling, Altar of Bone, Eldritch Evolution, Brightglass Gearhulk, Ranger of Eos, Ranger-Captain of Eos.
  • Role peers: Memnite, Phyrexian Walker, and Shield Sphere are zero-mana body peers; Ornithopter is the only flying one among them.
  • Failure modes: It has no power without buffs, so it is not pressure until Finale of Devastation, Allosaurus Shepherd does not affect it, or another pump applies.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Useful against small flyers as a blocker; weak when the opponent is not pressuring combat and you lack a creature-count payoff.

Phyrexian Walker

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, zero-mana high-toughness artifact creature material.
  • Role type: engine fuel/material; lifegain/stabilization.
  • Deck-specific job: Adds a free 0/3 body for Gaea's Cradle, Chord of Calling, sacrifice costs, and early blocking without spending mana.
  • Timing: Deploy early when creature count or blockers matter; preserve if it is needed for Natural Order-style material through legal sacrifice routes.
  • Inputs / outputs: Costs {0}; outputs a 0/3 artifact creature.
  • Partners / packages: Supports Gaea's Cradle, Chord of Calling, Altar of Bone, Eldritch Evolution, Ranger of Eos, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Brightglass Gearhulk.
  • Role peers: Shield Sphere blocks bigger once but degrades; Memnite has power; Ornithopter flies.
  • Failure modes: Oracle metadata is missing in the reference, so rely only on supplied cost/type/stats; do not invent abilities.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Good against early ground pressure; poor as a topdeck without Cradle, convoke, or sacrifice payoff.

Quirion Ranger

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, Forest-bounce creature untapper.
  • Role type: engine piece; mana/fixing/ramp.
  • Deck-specific job: Once each turn, returns a Forest you control to owner's hand to untap target creature, reusing Brigid, Doun's Mind, Arbor Elf, Birds of Paradise, or another mana creature while preserving land-drop sequencing.
  • Timing: Use after the Forest has tapped for mana or when the untap produces a better line; plan the returned Forest as the next land drop.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes a Forest return as cost; outputs one target creature untap once each turn.
  • Partners / packages: Forests to return include Snow-Covered Forest, Savannah, Temple Garden, Lush Portico, Dryad Arbor, and lands made Forest by Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth; untap targets Brigid, Doun's Mind, Arbor Elf, Birds of Paradise.
  • Role peers: Scryb Ranger has flash/flying/protection from blue with the same Forest-return pattern; Wirewood Symbiote returns an Elf instead.
  • Failure modes: Returning the only land can reduce available mana or miss land development; activate only once each turn.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Excellent in engine turns; risky under land-destruction pressure or when tempo matters more than reuse.

Ranger of Eos

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, two-card low-mana creature tutor body.
  • Role type: tutor/search; engine payoff; card selection.
  • Deck-specific job: On entry, may search up to two creature cards with mana value 1 or less, reveal them, and put them into hand.
  • Timing: Cast when you need two cheap roles: mana plus protection, material plus hate, or double engine support.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {3}{W}; outputs a 3/2 body and up to two revealed low-cost creatures.
  • Partners / packages: High-priority hits include Sylvan Safekeeper, Esper Sentinel, Haywire Mite, Allosaurus Shepherd, Quirion Ranger, Wirewood Symbiote, Birds of Paradise, Avacyn's Pilgrim, Elvish Mystic, Memnite, Ornithopter, Phyrexian Walker, Shield Sphere.
  • Role peers: Ranger-Captain of Eos finds one such creature and has a sacrifice silence ability; Brightglass Gearhulk finds low-mana artifacts/creatures/enchantments.
  • Failure modes: The cards go to hand, so this is slow if you need an immediate battlefield answer.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Excellent against attrition and after sweepers; too slow against imminent combo unless it finds Haywire Mite or Sylvan Safekeeper in time.

Ranger-Captain of Eos

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, low-mana creature tutor plus noncreature-spell lock.
  • Role type: tutor/search; protection/evasion; hate piece.
  • Deck-specific job: Finds a creature card with mana value 1 or less, then can sacrifice itself so opponents cannot cast noncreature spells this turn.
  • Timing: Cast early to find Sylvan Safekeeper, Haywire Mite, Esper Sentinel, or a mana creature; sacrifice before a decisive Finale of Devastation, Natural Order, Tooth and Nail, Staff of Domination, or Umbral Mantle turn.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{W}{W}; outputs a 3/3 body, one revealed low-cost creature, and a one-turn noncreature-spell stop by sacrifice.
  • Partners / packages: Finds Sylvan Safekeeper, Haywire Mite, Allosaurus Shepherd, Quirion Ranger, Wirewood Symbiote, Birds of Paradise, Memnite, Ornithopter; protects Finale of Devastation, Chord of Calling, Tooth and Nail.
  • Role peers: Silence stops opponents from casting spells for one turn without a body; Grand Abolisher protects only your turn but stays in play.
  • Failure modes: The sacrifice effect does not stop creature spells or activated abilities; using it too early leaves no cover for the actual win turn.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Premium into spell combo and control; still useful versus creature decks as a 3/3 plus tutor but less lock-oriented.

Recruiter of the Guard

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, toughness-based creature tutor body.
  • Role type: tutor/search; role glue.
  • Deck-specific job: Searches for a creature card with toughness 2 or less, reveals it, and puts it into hand, giving access to many utility creatures.
  • Timing: Cast when the exact low-toughness creature is the missing role; if under pressure, prioritize a target that affects the next turn rather than a slow value piece.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {2}{W}; outputs a 1/1 body and a revealed creature with toughness 2 or less.
  • Partners / packages: Key hits include Grand Abolisher, Stoneforge Mystic, Sylvan Safekeeper, Esper Sentinel, Allosaurus Shepherd, Quirion Ranger, Scryb Ranger, Wirewood Symbiote, Eternal Witness, Ranger of Eos, Witch Enchanter, Starfield Shepherd.
  • Role peers: Ranger of Eos and Ranger-Captain of Eos search by mana value; Eladamri's Call searches any creature.
  • Failure modes: Cannot get higher-toughness engine bodies such as Emiel the Blessed, Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, Endurance, Village Bell-Ringer, or Linvala, Keeper of Silence.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong in toolbox games; choose Grand Abolisher or Sylvan Safekeeper before fragile combo commitments against removal.

Recruitment Officer

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, one-mana body and late creature-selection mana sink.
  • Role type: card selection; engine fuel/material; threat/clock.
  • Deck-specific job: Provides an early 2/1 body and later uses {3}{W} to look at the top four cards, reveal a creature with mana value 3 or less, put it into hand, and put the rest on bottom in random order.
  • Timing: Cast early when white is available and green acceleration is not competing; activate only when holding mana open is less valuable than finding a small creature.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {W} to cast; activation consumes {3}{W} and produces at most one revealed low-mana creature.
  • Partners / packages: Finds mana/utility creatures such as Arbor Elf, Birds of Paradise, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Recruiter of the Guard, Hyrax Tower Scout, Endurance, Scryb Ranger.
  • Role peers: Esper Sentinel is a one-mana value creature; Ranger of Eos searches guaranteed low-mana creatures from library.
  • Failure modes: Look is only top four and only mana value 3 or less creatures; it misses Emiel the Blessed, Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, Woodland Bellower, and noncreature interaction.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Good in grindy games; do not spend four mana on activation when a removal or protection window must be held.

Savannah

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, untapped Forest Plains dual land.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp.
  • Deck-specific job: Provides {G} or {W} while being both Forest and Plains, enabling fetch lands, Arbor Elf, Utopia Sprawl, Wild Growth, and white interaction.
  • Timing: Fetch or play early when both green acceleration and white protection/removal are needed.
  • Inputs / outputs: Produces green or white with no life payment after it is on battlefield.
  • Partners / packages: Fetchable by Arid Mesa, Flooded Strand, Marsh Flats, Misty Rainforest, Verdant Catacombs, Windswept Heath, Wooded Foothills; target for Arbor Elf, Utopia Sprawl, Wild Growth.
  • Role peers: Temple Garden is similar but may cost 2 life; Lush Portico surveils but enters tapped.
  • Failure modes: Nonbasic land hate can target it; do not expose it if a basic source is safer and color requirements are met.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Best early fixing against unknown; fetch basics instead against visible nonbasic punishment.

Scryb Ranger

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, flash Forest-bounce untapper and evasive utility creature.
  • Role type: engine piece; protection/evasion; mana/fixing/ramp.
  • Deck-specific job: Has flash, flying, protection from blue, and once each turn can return a Forest you control to untap target creature.
  • Timing: Hold up as flash interaction when blue blockers/removal or surprise untap matters; use the Forest return after the Forest has produced mana where possible.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{G}; outputs a 1/1 flying body and a once-each-turn creature untap at the cost of returning a Forest.
  • Partners / packages: Forests include Snow-Covered Forest, Savannah, Temple Garden, Lush Portico, Dryad Arbor, and lands made Forest by Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth; untaps Brigid, Doun's Mind, Arbor Elf, Birds of Paradise, blockers.
  • Role peers: Quirion Ranger is cheaper but lacks flash/flying/protection from blue; Wirewood Symbiote uses Elf return.
  • Failure modes: Protection from blue does not stop nonblue removal, sweepers, sacrifice, or edicts; returning a Forest can reduce mana development.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong into blue tempo and creature combat; valuable when flash keeps interaction hidden.

Seedcradle Witch

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, hybrid one-drop and pump/untap mana sink.
  • Role type: engine piece; protection/evasion; threat/clock.
  • Deck-specific job: For {2}{G}{W}, target creature gets +3/+3 until end of turn and untaps, turning mana into combat pressure or reuse of Brigid, Doun's Mind.
  • Timing: Deploy early as an Elf body when creature count matters; activate only when +3/+3 plus untap wins combat, creates lethal, or reuses a critical mana creature.
  • Inputs / outputs: Costs {G/W} to cast; activation consumes four mana including green and white, outputs pump and untap on target creature.
  • Partners / packages: Targets Brigid, Doun's Mind, Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, Endurance, Woodland Bellower, Esper Sentinel; Elf partners Allosaurus Shepherd, Wirewood Symbiote.
  • Role peers: Legolas's Quick Reflexes untaps and protects for one green; Umbral Mantle gives repeat pump/untap if equipped.
  • Failure modes: Requires both green and white for activation and does not grant trample, hexproof, or indestructible.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Useful in creature stalls and with Brigid mana; lower priority against stack combo.

Shared Summons

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, instant two-creature tutor to hand.
  • Role type: tutor/search; combo tutor; role glue.
  • Deck-specific job: Searches up to two creature cards with different names, reveals them, and puts them into hand, setting up protected two-card turns.
  • Timing: Best at end step before a turn where you can cast both targets or one target plus protection; cast earlier only if the opponent's next turn demands known interaction.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {3}{G}{G}; outputs up to two revealed creatures with different names.
  • Partners / packages: Engine pairs Emiel the Blessed + Hyrax Tower Scout, Emiel the Blessed + Village Bell-Ringer, Ashaya, Soul of the Wild + Quirion Ranger; protection plus payoff Grand Abolisher + Finale target creature is not legal because Finale is noncreature, so choose Grand Abolisher + Emiel the Blessed or Ranger-Captain of Eos + Hyrax Tower Scout.
  • Role peers: Tooth and Nail can also find two creatures and may put them onto battlefield with entwine; Eladamri's Call is cheaper but finds one.
  • Failure modes: It puts cards into hand, so mana and timing still matter; revealing both targets lets opponents plan removal.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong in grindy/control games with protection; too slow under immediate lethal pressure.

Shield Sphere

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, zero-mana defensive artifact creature material.
  • Role type: engine fuel/material; lifegain/stabilization.
  • Deck-specific job: Adds a free 0/6 defender for early blocking, Gaea's Cradle, Chord of Calling, sacrifice costs, and low-mana search packages; it gets a -0/-1 counter whenever it blocks.
  • Timing: Deploy early when creature count or defense matters; block when buying time is worth reducing its future toughness.
  • Inputs / outputs: Costs {0}; outputs a defender artifact creature that weakens by blocking.
  • Partners / packages: Supports Gaea's Cradle, Chord of Calling, Altar of Bone, Eldritch Evolution, Ranger of Eos, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Brightglass Gearhulk.
  • Role peers: Phyrexian Walker is another free high-toughness body; Ornithopter blocks flyers; Memnite can attack.
  • Failure modes: Defender means it cannot attack normally, and repeated blocks eventually reduce it.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong against early ground aggression; low value against spell combo unless it powers Cradle or convoke.

Silence

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, one-shot proactive stack shield.
  • Role type: protection/evasion; hate piece.
  • Deck-specific job: Prevents opponents from casting spells this turn, creating a protected window for tutors, engines, and finishers.
  • Timing: Cast before committing Natural Order, Eldritch Evolution, Finale of Devastation, Tooth and Nail, Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, or a multi-spell turn; do not wait until after an opponent has already cast the spell you needed to stop.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {W} and one card; outputs a turn-long opponent spell-casting restriction.
  • Partners / packages: Protects Finale of Devastation, Tooth and Nail, Natural Order, Eldritch Evolution, Chord of Calling, Emiel the Blessed, Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle.
  • Role peers: Grand Abolisher is permanent-based protection during your turn; Ranger-Captain of Eos sacrifices for a noncreature-only version.
  • Failure modes: Does not counter spells already on the stack and does not stop activated abilities.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Premium versus control and spell combo; weaker against creature-only boards unless it protects lethal.

Snow-Covered Forest

  • Deck role: Main deck, 5 copies, basic green mana foundation and fetchable Forest.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp.
  • Deck-specific job: Provides reliable {G} for turn-one accelerants, green tutors, Veil of Summer, Crop Rotation, and Aura targets without nonbasic exposure.
  • Timing: Fetch early when green is mandatory or nonbasic hate/life pressure makes duals risky; prioritize as Utopia Sprawl target when Arbor Elf can reuse it.
  • Inputs / outputs: Taps for {G} and has basic Snow Land — Forest typing.
  • Partners / packages: Fetchable by Misty Rainforest, Verdant Catacombs, Windswept Heath, Wooded Foothills; works with Arbor Elf, Utopia Sprawl, Wild Growth, Quirion Ranger, Scryb Ranger.
  • Role peers: Savannah, Temple Garden, and Lush Portico also are Forests but are nonbasic and/or have entry costs.
  • Failure modes: Does not provide white, so hands with only Forests may strand Swords to Plowshares, Silence, or Grand Abolisher.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Best default against nonbasic hate and burn; still fetch duals when white timing is decisive.

Snow-Covered Plains

  • Deck role: Main deck, 2 copies, basic white mana foundation and fetchable Plains.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp.
  • Deck-specific job: Provides reliable {W} for commander, removal, protection, and sideboard hate while avoiding nonbasic risk.
  • Timing: Fetch when white interaction must be held or when life total makes Temple Garden shock damage unacceptable.
  • Inputs / outputs: Taps for {W} and has basic Snow Land — Plains typing.
  • Partners / packages: Fetchable by Arid Mesa, Flooded Strand, Marsh Flats, Windswept Heath; casts Brigid, Clachan's Heart, Swords to Plowshares, Silence, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Path to Exile, Rest in Peace.
  • Role peers: Savannah, Temple Garden, and Lush Portico provide both colors but are nonbasic; Avacyn's Pilgrim produces white from a green start.
  • Failure modes: Does not cast green one-drops or green-heavy spells by itself.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Important against fast creature decks and control where white interaction/protection must be available on time.

Sol Ring

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, repeat colorless artifact acceleration.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp.
  • Deck-specific job: Converts one generic mana into repeat {C}{C}, accelerating Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, Brigid, Clachan's Heart, Tooth and Nail, Shared Summons, and other generic-heavy costs.
  • Timing: Play early when it enables a stronger follow-up; do not rely on it for colored pips.
  • Inputs / outputs: Costs {1}; taps for {C}{C}.
  • Partners / packages: Pays generic portions of Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, Tooth and Nail, Shared Summons, Sowing Mycospawn, Brightglass Gearhulk.
  • Role peers: Ancient Tomb gives immediate two colorless with life loss; Gaea's Cradle gives green based on creatures.
  • Failure modes: Stony Silence and Collector Ouphe stop its activated ability; colorless cannot pay {G} or {W} requirements.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Explosive versus slow decks; board out or devalue if your own Stony Silence/Collector Ouphe plan is central.

Sowing Mycospawn

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, land-search creature and kicked land-exile threat.
  • Role type: tutor/search; mana/fixing/ramp; interaction-removal; modal utility.
  • Deck-specific job: When cast, searches a land card and puts it onto battlefield; if kicked for {1}{C}, its cast trigger exiles target land.
  • Timing: Cast normally to find Gaea's Cradle, Boseiju, Who Endures, Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth, Talon Gates of Madara, or fixing; kick when exiling an opposing land is worth exact colorless mana.
  • Inputs / outputs: Normal cast consumes {3}{G} and outputs a land plus 3/3 body; kicked cast consumes extra {1}{C} and outputs land exile.
  • Mode map: Normal mode is land ramp/search; kicked mode adds target land exile and requires true {C} from Ancient Tomb, Sol Ring, Boreal Druid, Gemstone Caverns, or Talon Gates of Madara.
  • Partners / packages: Searches Gaea's Cradle, Boseiju, Who Endures, Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth, Talon Gates of Madara, Savannah, Temple Garden, Lush Portico.
  • Role peers: Crop Rotation is cheaper but sacrifices a land; Archdruid's Charm finds a land tapped at instant speed.
  • Failure modes: Kicker requires true colorless, not generic; without {C}, do not plan on land exile.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong versus utility-land and big-mana decks; slower against fast creature pressure.

Staff of Domination

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, artifact mana sink and combo finisher.
  • Role type: combo finisher; engine piece; lifegain/stabilization; card selection; modal utility.
  • Deck-specific job: Converts large creature mana into untaps, life, tapping creatures, and card draw; with Brigid, Doun's Mind producing at least five mana, Staff can pay {3} to untap Brigid and {1} to untap Staff, netting mana before draw/life actions.
  • Timing: Deploy when you can protect or immediately use it; avoid tapping out if Stony Silence, Collector Ouphe, or artifact removal is visible.
  • Inputs / outputs: Costs {3}; activated modes consume generic mana and tapping/untapping Staff to produce untap, life, tap, or draw.
  • Mode map: {1} untaps Staff; {2},{T} gains 1 life; {3},{T} untaps target creature; {4},{T} taps target creature; {5},{T} draws a card.
  • Partners / packages: Combo with Brigid, Doun's Mind, Badgermole Cub, Gaea's Cradle, Arbor Elf on enchanted Forest; protected by Silence, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos.
  • Role peers: Umbral Mantle is cheaper to equip and can make infinite pump/mana with Brigid at lower total cost.
  • Failure modes: Artifact-ability hate from Stony Silence or Collector Ouphe shuts it off, including your own sideboard plan.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Excellent late-game closer; poor into artifact hate unless answered first.

Starfield Shepherd

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, flying search creature with warp timing.
  • Role type: modal utility; tutor/search; threat/clock.
  • Deck-specific job: On entry, searches a basic Plains card or creature card with mana value 1 or less, reveals it, and puts it into hand; warp {1}{W} gives a temporary early search and later recast from exile.
  • Timing: Warp when the cheap search matters now and you can recast later; hard-cast when a flying body plus search is worth five mana.
  • Inputs / outputs: Hard cast consumes {3}{W}{W}; warp consumes {1}{W}, exiles it at next end step, and allows later casting from exile.
  • Mode map: Hard-cast side leaves a 3/2 flyer; warp side is temporary ETB access from hand that returns as a future cast option from exile.
  • Partners / packages: Finds Snow-Covered Plains or low-cost creatures Sylvan Safekeeper, Esper Sentinel, Haywire Mite, Allosaurus Shepherd, Quirion Ranger, Wirewood Symbiote, Birds of Paradise, Memnite, Ornithopter.
  • Role peers: Ranger-Captain of Eos finds one low-mana creature and protects; Ranger of Eos finds two low-mana creatures.
  • Failure modes: Combined Oracle metadata is missing; supplied face text covers search/warp, but use legal actions for exact exile/recast timing.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Useful in attrition and white-mana-light hands; slow versus fast combo unless warped for a precise one-drop.

Stoneforge Mystic

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, Equipment tutor and Umbral Mantle access point.
  • Role type: tutor/search; combo tutor; role glue.
  • Deck-specific job: Searches an Equipment card, reveals it, and puts it into hand; in this registered list the only Equipment target is Umbral Mantle.
  • Timing: Cast when Umbral Mantle is part of the active Brigid/mana-creature plan or when a two-mana body plus future equipment is acceptable.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{W}; outputs a 1/2 body and revealed Umbral Mantle; activated ability {1}{W},{T} can put an Equipment from hand onto battlefield.
  • Mode map: ETB searches Umbral Mantle; activated ability cheats Umbral Mantle from hand onto battlefield but still requires equip/engine setup.
  • Partners / packages: Exact search target Umbral Mantle; engine partners Brigid, Doun's Mind, Badgermole Cub, Gaea's Cradle, Silence, Grand Abolisher.
  • Role peers: Enlightened Tutor can find Umbral Mantle or Staff of Domination; Brightglass Gearhulk cannot find Umbral Mantle because mana value is 3.
  • Failure modes: No other Equipment is registered, so do not treat Stoneforge as a flexible equipment package.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong when Mantle combo is live; mediocre against artifact hate or fast pressure.

Summoner's Pact

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, zero-mana green creature tutor with lethal upkeep liability.
  • Role type: tutor/search; combo tutor.
  • Deck-specific job: Searches a green creature card, reveals it, and puts it into hand, then requires {2}{G}{G} at your next upkeep or you lose the game.
  • Timing: Cast only when the searched green creature wins, prevents a loss, or when next-upkeep payment is clearly available.
  • Inputs / outputs: Costs {0} now; outputs a revealed green creature in hand and a mandatory future {2}{G}{G} payment.
  • Partners / packages: Finds Endurance, Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, Hyrax Tower Scout, Woodland Bellower, Allosaurus Shepherd, Sylvan Safekeeper, Quirion Ranger, Scryb Ranger, Birds of Paradise.
  • Role peers: Worldly Tutor also finds any creature but to top of library and without pact risk; Green Sun's Zenith puts green creature onto battlefield with mana paid now.
  • Failure modes: Losing to the upkeep trigger is real; do not spend Pact for incremental value unless the mana to pay is already secure.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong as emergency Endurance or combo-piece access; dangerous in attrition or under mana denial.

Swords to Plowshares

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, premium instant creature exile.
  • Role type: interaction-removal; lifegain/stabilization.
  • Deck-specific job: Exiles target creature; that creature's controller gains life equal to its power, cleanly answering commanders, combo creatures, lethal attackers, and hatebears.
  • Timing: Hold for a creature that wins, locks, or kills soon; use early on a smaller creature only when waiting risks losing the game.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {W} and a card; exiles a target creature and gives its controller life equal to that creature's power.
  • Partners / packages: White sources Snow-Covered Plains, Savannah, Temple Garden, Command Tower, Avacyn's Pilgrim, Birds of Paradise; recursion with Eternal Witness.
  • Role peers: Path to Exile is sideboard creature exile with land ramp drawback; Legolas's Quick Reflexes can damage a creature conditionally.
  • Failure modes: Cannot target noncreature permanents or spells on the stack, and the life gain can matter if you are trying to win through combat damage.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Premium versus creature commanders, creature combo, and evasive threats; save it for the highest-impact visible creature.

Sylvan Safekeeper

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, one-mana creature protection engine.
  • Role type: protection/evasion; engine fuel/material.
  • Deck-specific job: Sacrifices a land to give target creature you control shroud until end of turn, protecting Brigid or engine pieces from targeted spells and abilities.
  • Timing: Deploy before a decisive creature line when land sacrifice is affordable; activate only for the creature that matters to the current win or survival.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {G} to cast; activation consumes one land and gives shroud to target creature you control.
  • Partners / packages: Protects Brigid, Doun's Mind, Emiel the Blessed, Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, Hyrax Tower Scout, Grand Abolisher, Woodland Bellower; land-sacrifice decisions involve Gaea's Cradle, Dryad Arbor, Savannah, Temple Garden, Snow-Covered Forest.
  • Role peers: Legolas's Quick Reflexes gives hexproof and untap without land sacrifice; Veil of Summer protects from blue/black.
  • Failure modes: Shroud prevents you from targeting that creature too, so activate after your own targeting effects if needed; sacrificing a key land can break mana.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: High value against targeted removal; weak against sweepers, sacrifice effects, and non-targeting edicts.

Talon Gates of Madara

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, utility Gate with phasing and flexible mana.
  • Role type: modal utility; protection/evasion; mana/fixing/ramp.
  • Deck-specific job: Enters and phases out up to one target creature, taps for {C}, can pay {1},{T} for one mana of any color, and can be put from hand onto battlefield for {4}.
  • Timing: Use entry phasing to protect a key creature or temporarily remove an opposing attacker/blocker; use hand ability when surprise land entry or phasing is worth four mana.
  • Inputs / outputs: Outputs colorless directly, filtered any-color with {1}, and a one-shot phasing trigger on entry.
  • Mode map: Normal land play/entry can phase up to one target creature; mana modes produce {C} or filtered any color; hand mode {4} puts it onto battlefield from hand.
  • Partners / packages: Protects or clears Brigid, Doun's Mind, Emiel the Blessed, Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, opposing lethal attackers; searchable by Crop Rotation, Archdruid's Charm, Sowing Mycospawn.
  • Role peers: Boseiju, Who Endures is land-slot interaction; Legolas's Quick Reflexes protects a creature on stack/combat.
  • Failure modes: Phasing is temporary and does not remove counters, Auras, or Equipment permanently; filtered colored mana costs {1} first.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong versus targeted removal and creature combat; less useful against noncreature combo.

Temple Garden

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, shock Forest Plains dual land.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp.
  • Deck-specific job: Provides {G} or {W}, is fetchable as Forest/Plains, and can enter untapped if you pay 2 life.
  • Timing: Pay 2 life when immediate green or white unlocks a meaningful play; let it enter tapped when life is under pressure and no same-turn action is required.
  • Inputs / outputs: Optional 2 life buys untapped access; otherwise enters tapped and later produces green/white.
  • Partners / packages: Fetchable by every registered fetch land except none; exact fetchers Arid Mesa, Flooded Strand, Marsh Flats, Misty Rainforest, Verdant Catacombs, Windswept Heath, Wooded Foothills; target for Arbor Elf, Utopia Sprawl, Wild Growth.
  • Role peers: Savannah has no shock choice; Lush Portico always enters tapped but surveils.
  • Failure modes: Repeated life payments plus Ancient Tomb can make races unwinnable.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Shock aggressively versus combo/control when tempo matters; avoid shock versus burn or lethal combat unless it prevents more damage.

Tooth and Nail

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, top-end creature tutor/cheat spell.
  • Role type: modal utility; combo tutor; reach/finisher.
  • Deck-specific job: Chooses to search up to two creature cards to hand, put up to two creature cards from hand onto battlefield, or both if entwined for {2}.
  • Timing: Cast entwined when nine mana turns the card into a decisive board or engine; use a single mode only when the missing piece or hand-to-battlefield cheat is enough.
  • Inputs / outputs: Base cost {5}{G}{G}; entwine adds {2}; outputs two creature cards to hand, two creatures from hand to battlefield, or both.
  • Mode map: Search mode loads hand; put mode cheats existing hand creatures; entwined mode searches then puts up to two creatures from hand onto battlefield, enabling exact pairs like Emiel the Blessed + Hyrax Tower Scout when Brigid, Doun's Mind and enough creature-count mana are ready.
  • Partners / packages: Pairs Emiel the Blessed + Hyrax Tower Scout, Emiel the Blessed + Village Bell-Ringer, Grand Abolisher + Emiel the Blessed, Woodland Bellower + Eternal Witness.
  • Role peers: Shared Summons finds two creatures at instant speed but does not put them onto battlefield; Finale of Devastation closes combat with X≥10.
  • Failure modes: Very expensive and sorcery speed; without enough mana or protection it can be stranded or countered.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Best after stabilization or under Grand Abolisher/Silence; cut or devalue versus fast aggro.

Umbral Mantle

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, Equipment-based untap combo finisher.
  • Role type: combo finisher; engine piece; modal utility.
  • Deck-specific job: Equip {0} gives equipped creature {3}, {Q}: This creature gets +2/+2 until end of turn; with Brigid, Doun's Mind tapping for at least four mana, the loop nets mana and grows Brigid.
  • Timing: Deploy when you can equip and use the ability or protect the artifact; searchable through Stoneforge Mystic and Enlightened Tutor.
  • Inputs / outputs: Costs {3}, equips for {0}, then consumes {3} and untaps the tapped equipped creature for +2/+2.
  • Mode map: Equipment deployment is setup; equip attaches for free; activated untap/pump mode converts a tapped mana creature into repeat mana/power if it produces more than three mana.
  • Partners / packages: Combo with Brigid, Doun's Mind, Badgermole Cub, Gaea's Cradle-boosted creatures that tap for mana, Stoneforge Mystic, Enlightened Tutor, Silence, Grand Abolisher.
  • Role peers: Staff of Domination also untaps Brigid and can draw cards, but needs more mana to loop.
  • Failure modes: Stony Silence and Collector Ouphe stop the granted activated ability because it is an artifact-granted ability; without a high-output tap creature it is just pump.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Primary combo close against slower decks; avoid into artifact hate unless removal is ready.

Utopia Sprawl

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, one-mana Forest Aura acceleration and fixing.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp.
  • Deck-specific job: Enchants a Forest, chooses a color as it enters, and adds one mana of that color whenever enchanted Forest is tapped for mana.
  • Timing: Cast early on a stable Forest, preferably one that Arbor Elf can untap; choose green for green-heavy hands or white when Swords to Plowshares, Silence, Grand Abolisher, or Ranger-Captain of Eos is constrained.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {G} and an enchantable Forest; outputs extra chosen-color mana whenever the land taps for mana.
  • Partners / packages: Legal Forest targets include Snow-Covered Forest, Savannah, Temple Garden, Lush Portico, Dryad Arbor, and Forests from Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth; best with Arbor Elf.
  • Role peers: Wild Growth enchants any land but only adds {G}; Sol Ring accelerates colorless.
  • Failure modes: Cannot enchant non-Forest lands unless Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth makes them Forests; land removal can lose both land and Aura.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong opener against most decks; choose white more often when interaction timing is visible.

Veil of Summer

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, green protection and anti-blue/black interaction spell.
  • Role type: protection/evasion; interaction-stack.
  • Deck-specific job: Draws a card if an opponent has cast a blue or black spell this turn, makes your spells unable to be countered this turn, and gives you and permanents you control hexproof from blue and black until end of turn.
  • Timing: Use reactively to a blue/black stack action or proactively before a decisive spell if counterspells are the known threat.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {G}; may replace itself with a draw and outputs counter protection plus blue/black hexproof.
  • Partners / packages: Protects Finale of Devastation, Natural Order, Tooth and Nail, Emiel the Blessed, Brigid, Doun's Mind, Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle.
  • Role peers: Silence stops spell casting before commitment; Grand Abolisher restricts opponents during your turn; Legolas's Quick Reflexes protects one creature from targeted effects generally.
  • Failure modes: Does not protect from red, white, green, colorless, sweepers, sacrifice, or non-targeting effects; card draw requires an opponent to have cast a blue or black spell that turn.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Premium against blue/black control and removal; low value against creature decks without those colors.

Verdant Catacombs

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, fetch land for Forest-typed fixing.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp.
  • Deck-specific job: Searches for a Swamp or Forest card, but this deck has no registered Swamp card; practical targets are Snow-Covered Forest, Savannah, Temple Garden, Lush Portico, and Dryad Arbor.
  • Timing: Fetch green early for acceleration; fetch Dryad Arbor only when creature material is worth the risk.
  • Inputs / outputs: Taps, pays 1 life, sacrifices itself, and puts a legal Forest-typed card onto battlefield.
  • Partners / packages: Enables Arbor Elf, Utopia Sprawl, Wild Growth, Green Sun's Zenith, Veil of Summer; can get Dryad Arbor for Gaea's Cradle, Chord of Calling, or sacrifice costs.
  • Role peers: Misty Rainforest, Windswept Heath, and Wooded Foothills also fetch Forest targets.
  • Failure modes: Do not claim black access from this registered deck; no Swamp card is present.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Basic Forest line is safer against nonbasic hate and burn; dual fetch is better when white timing matters.

Village Bell-Ringer

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, flash board-wide creature untapper.
  • Role type: combo enabler; engine piece; lifegain/stabilization.
  • Deck-specific job: Enters at flash speed and untaps each creature you control, resetting mana creatures, blockers, and Brigid, Doun's Mind.
  • Timing: Use in combat to surprise block or during an engine turn to create more mana; with Emiel the Blessed, repeated blink can untap Brigid and other mana creatures if mana output exceeds {3} per blink.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {2}{W}; outputs a 1/4 flash body and board-wide untap of your creatures.
  • Partners / packages: Works with Emiel the Blessed, Brigid, Doun's Mind, Arbor Elf, Birds of Paradise, Avacyn's Pilgrim, Elvish Mystic, Gaea's Cradle, Mobilize, Vitalize.
  • Role peers: Vitalize is one-mana instant without a body; Mobilize is one-mana sorcery; Hyrax Tower Scout untaps one creature.
  • Failure modes: Untapping creatures that cannot produce mana or block profitably may not justify three mana.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Excellent against creature combat and engine turns; less relevant versus spell combo unless it enables a same-turn kill.

Vitalize

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, instant creature untap burst.
  • Role type: engine piece; combo enabler; protection/evasion.
  • Deck-specific job: Untaps each creature you control at instant speed, resetting mana creatures, Brigid, Doun's Mind, and blockers.
  • Timing: Cast when the untap creates more mana than the card costs, saves blockers, or enables a surprise Chord of Calling/engine line.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {G}; outputs a board-wide untap of your creatures.
  • Partners / packages: Untaps Brigid, Doun's Mind, Arbor Elf, Avacyn's Pilgrim, Birds of Paradise, Boreal Druid, Elvish Mystic, Fyndhorn Elves, Llanowar Elves, Dryad Arbor.
  • Role peers: Mobilize is the sorcery-speed peer; Village Bell-Ringer does this on a flash creature.
  • Failure modes: Does not untap land permanents or artifact permanents, and is weak with few tapped creatures.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong in combat and protected engine turns; hold against removal-heavy opponents until the untap yields immediate value.

Voice of Victory

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, turn-protection creature and attack-token pressure piece.
  • Role type: protection/evasion; hate piece; threat/clock.
  • Deck-specific job: Opponents cannot cast spells during your turn, and mobilize 2 creates two tapped and attacking 1/1 red Warrior tokens when it attacks, sacrificed at the next end step.
  • Timing: Cast before a turn where your spells need protection; attack when the temporary Warriors help damage, Gaea's Cradle after combat is not needed, or lethal math matters.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{W}; outputs a 1/3 body, opponent spell restriction during your turn, and temporary attack tokens when it attacks.
  • Partners / packages: Protects Finale of Devastation, Natural Order, Tooth and Nail, Emiel the Blessed, Staff of Domination; token pressure pairs with Finale of Devastation X≥10 if combat is immediate.
  • Role peers: Grand Abolisher also restricts opponents during your turn and adds activated ability limits; Silence is a one-shot broader spell lock.
  • Failure modes: Mobilize tokens are temporary and tapped/attacking; the static ability does not stop activated abilities.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong into control and spell combo; less useful against creature decks that interact through permanents already on battlefield.

Wild Growth

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, one-mana land Aura acceleration.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp.
  • Deck-specific job: Enchants any land and adds an additional {G} whenever that land is tapped for mana, amplifying Arbor Elf and stable mana bases.
  • Timing: Cast early on a land likely to survive; choose a Forest if Arbor Elf, Quirion Ranger, or Scryb Ranger lines matter.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {G} and a land target; outputs extra {G} whenever enchanted land taps for mana.
  • Partners / packages: Strong on Snow-Covered Forest, Savannah, Temple Garden, Lush Portico with Arbor Elf; also works on Gaea's Cradle when extra green matters.
  • Role peers: Utopia Sprawl fixes chosen color but enchants only Forest; Sol Ring produces colorless instead.
  • Failure modes: Land removal can lose both resources, and Wild Growth does not add white.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong acceleration versus slow decks; risky when the opponent has visible land destruction or bounce.

Windswept Heath

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, best green-white fetch land.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp.
  • Deck-specific job: Searches for a Forest or Plains card, giving full access to Snow-Covered Forest, Snow-Covered Plains, Savannah, Temple Garden, Lush Portico, and Dryad Arbor.
  • Timing: Fetch the color that unlocks the next two turns; choose Dryad Arbor only when creature count or sacrifice material is worth exposing the land creature.
  • Inputs / outputs: Taps, pays 1 life, sacrifices itself, and puts a legal Forest or Plains target onto battlefield.
  • Partners / packages: Enables Arbor Elf, Utopia Sprawl, Wild Growth, Swords to Plowshares, Silence, Eladamri's Call, Green Sun's Zenith.
  • Role peers: Other fetch lands cover partial target sets; Windswept Heath maps cleanly to both deck colors.
  • Failure modes: Fetching tapped Lush Portico can cost a turn; fetching Dryad Arbor can lose a land to creature removal.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Flexible in unknown matchups; basic targets are safer against life pressure and nonbasic hate.

Wirewood Symbiote

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, Elf-bounce untap engine creature.
  • Role type: engine piece; protection/evasion; role glue.
  • Deck-specific job: Once each turn, returns an Elf you control to owner's hand to untap target creature, protecting Elf bodies from removal, rebuying ETBs, or reusing a mana creature.
  • Timing: Use when the returned Elf is expendable, protects value, or creates mana through untapping Brigid, Doun's Mind or a mana creature; plan to recast the Elf if needed.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes an Elf return as cost; outputs one target creature untap once each turn.
  • Partners / packages: Returnable Elves include Allosaurus Shepherd, Arbor Elf, Boreal Druid, Disciple of Freyalise, Elvish Mystic, Fyndhorn Elves, Llanowar Elves, Quirion Ranger, Seedcradle Witch, Formidable Speaker; untap targets Brigid, Doun's Mind, Birds of Paradise, Arbor Elf.
  • Role peers: Quirion Ranger and Scryb Ranger return Forests instead of Elves.
  • Failure modes: Cannot return non-Elf creatures such as Brigid, Clachan's Heart, Birds of Paradise, Emiel the Blessed, or Endurance.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong versus targeted removal and engine games; weaker when recasting the Elf costs too much tempo.

Witch Enchanter

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, MDFC white land or artifact/enchantment removal body.
  • Role type: modal utility; interaction-removal; mana/fixing/ramp.
  • Deck-specific job: As Witch-Blessed Meadow, it is a white land that may enter untapped for 3 life; as Witch Enchanter, it destroys target artifact or enchantment an opponent controls on entry.
  • Timing: Play as land when white mana is missing; cast creature side when a visible opponent artifact/enchantment matters more than mana smoothing.
  • Inputs / outputs: Land side produces {W}; creature side costs {3}{W} and outputs a 2/2 plus targeted destruction.
  • Mode map: Land aspect is fixing with optional 3-life untapped entry; creature aspect is sorcery-speed body plus opponent artifact/enchantment removal.
  • Partners / packages: Removal overlaps with Boseiju, Who Endures, Haywire Mite, Reclamation Sage, Krosan Grip, Force of Vigor; searchable by Recruiter of the Guard.
  • Role peers: Reclamation Sage is a green creature version; Krosan Grip is instant split-second.
  • Failure modes: Combined Oracle metadata is missing; supplied face text shows the target must be an artifact or enchantment an opponent controls, so it cannot destroy your own hate piece.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong versus artifact/enchantment engines; choose land side when color development is the actual bottleneck.

Wooded Foothills

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, fetch land for Forest-typed fixing.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp.
  • Deck-specific job: Searches for a Mountain or Forest card, but this deck has no registered Mountain card; practical targets are Snow-Covered Forest, Savannah, Temple Garden, Lush Portico, and Dryad Arbor.
  • Timing: Fetch green early; choose a Forest Plains target when white is also needed.
  • Inputs / outputs: Taps, pays 1 life, sacrifices itself, and puts a legal Forest-typed target onto battlefield.
  • Partners / packages: Enables Arbor Elf, Utopia Sprawl, Wild Growth, Green Sun's Zenith, Veil of Summer; can find Dryad Arbor for Gaea's Cradle, Chord of Calling, or sacrifice material.
  • Role peers: Misty Rainforest, Verdant Catacombs, and Windswept Heath also fetch Forest targets.
  • Failure modes: Do not claim red access from this registered deck; no Mountain card is present.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Fetch basic Forest against burn/nonbasic hate; fetch dual when white timing is decisive.

Woodland Bellower

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, top-end green creature tutor body.
  • Role type: tutor/search; engine payoff; threat/clock.
  • Deck-specific job: On entry, may search a nonlegendary green creature with mana value 3 or less and put it onto battlefield.
  • Timing: Cast or tutor when a six-mana 6/5 plus a smaller green creature changes the board, finds protection, or assembles an engine.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {4}{G}{G}; outputs a 6/5 body and one qualifying green creature directly.
  • Partners / packages: High-priority hits include Endurance, Hyrax Tower Scout, Eternal Witness, Quirion Ranger, Scryb Ranger, Wirewood Symbiote, Sylvan Safekeeper, Allosaurus Shepherd, Birds of Paradise, Arbor Elf, Badgermole Cub, Formidable Speaker.
  • Role peers: Green Sun's Zenith can find Bellower or cheaper green creatures; Ranger of Eos finds low-mana creatures to hand.
  • Failure modes: Cannot find legendary, non-green, or mana-value-4-plus creatures; misses Emiel the Blessed, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, and Ashaya, Soul of the Wild.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong against midrange and attrition; slow against fast combo unless it finds immediate Endurance or Sylvan Safekeeper.

Worldly Tutor

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, instant creature top-deck tutor.
  • Role type: tutor/search; combo tutor; role glue.
  • Deck-specific job: Searches any creature, reveals it, shuffles, and puts it on top, setting up the next draw for the exact role.
  • Timing: Cast at the latest safe end step before your draw unless you need to respond to a shuffle, discard, or immediate draw effect.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {G} and a card; outputs a chosen creature on top of library.
  • Partners / packages: Finds Endurance for graveyard windows, Grand Abolisher or Ranger-Captain of Eos for protection, Emiel the Blessed or Hyrax Tower Scout for engines, Woodland Bellower or Ashaya, Soul of the Wild for payoff.
  • Role peers: Eladamri's Call puts creature into hand for {G}{W}; Summoner's Pact finds green creature immediately with upkeep risk.
  • Failure modes: Does not put the card into hand immediately and reveals your plan; weak if the opponent can force a shuffle or deny your draw.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Flexible against unknowns; prioritize hate/protection over payoff when the opponent's next turn can decide the game.

Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth

  • Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, legendary Forest-typing utility land.
  • Role type: mana/fixing/ramp; engine piece.
  • Deck-specific job: Makes each land a Forest in addition to its other land types, enabling Arbor Elf, Quirion Ranger, Scryb Ranger, and Utopia Sprawl access across your lands.
  • Timing: Play when Forest typing improves mana or untap lines; consider opponent benefit before giving their lands Forest type.
  • Inputs / outputs: Provides land-type modification; as a land, it can tap for {G} because it is a Forest under its own effect.
  • Partners / packages: Supports Arbor Elf, Quirion Ranger, Scryb Ranger, Utopia Sprawl, Wild Growth, Gaea's Cradle, Ancient Tomb, Talon Gates of Madara.
  • Role peers: Ashaya, Soul of the Wild gives nontoken creatures Forest land type; Lush Portico, Savannah, and Temple Garden naturally have Forest type.
  • Failure modes: Also helps opponents' lands become Forests; not fetchable as a Forest from library because its printed type line is Legendary Land.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong for engine consistency; be cautious against opponents who benefit from Forestwalk-like or Forest-count effects if visible.

Path to Exile

  • Deck role: Sideboard, 1 copy, cheap creature exile bullet.
  • Role type: sideboard bullet; interaction-removal.
  • Deck-specific job: Exiles target creature; its controller may search for a basic land card, put it onto battlefield tapped, then shuffle, adding a second cheap exile effect alongside Swords to Plowshares.
  • Timing: Bring in and hold for creature commanders, creature-combo pieces, or lethal attackers; use before combat damage or combo activation, not after the creature has generated value.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {W} and a card; outputs creature exile and possible opponent ramp.
  • Partners / packages: White sources Snow-Covered Plains, Savannah, Temple Garden, Command Tower, Avacyn's Pilgrim, Birds of Paradise; recursion with Eternal Witness if Rest in Peace is not active.
  • Role peers: Swords to Plowshares gives life instead of land; Linvala, Keeper of Silence stops activated abilities without removing bodies.
  • Failure modes: Giving a land can accelerate the opponent into a bigger turn; cannot hit noncreature permanents.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Side in against creature commanders, fast aggro, and creature combo; avoid versus spell-combo decks with few creature targets.

Rest in Peace

  • Deck role: Sideboard, 1 copy, graveyard-lock enchantment bullet.
  • Role type: sideboard bullet; hate piece.
  • Deck-specific job: Exiles all graveyards on entry and exiles any card or token that would go to a graveyard from anywhere, shutting down recursion, reanimation, flashback, escape, delve fuel, and death-trigger graveyard accumulation.
  • Timing: Cast before the opponent uses the graveyard, not after costs are paid; deploy when opponent graveyard value outweighs your Eternal Witness and Nature's Rhythm harmonize plans.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{W}; outputs immediate graveyard exile and replacement effect.
  • Partners / packages: Tutor via Enlightened Tutor; sideboard alongside Drannith Magistrate versus nonhand/graveyard casting; conflicts with Eternal Witness, Endurance value, Nature's Rhythm harmonize.
  • Role peers: Endurance is instant one-shot graveyard reset; Drannith Magistrate stops casting from graveyard/exile but does not exile cards.
  • Failure modes: It hurts your recursion and graveyard-cast options; do not bring it in for opponents who do not use graveyards.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong versus reanimator, escape, flashback, dredge-like, and graveyard-combo decks.

Drannith Magistrate

  • Deck role: Sideboard, 1 copy, nonhand-casting hatebear.
  • Role type: sideboard bullet; hate piece.
  • Deck-specific job: Prevents opponents from casting spells from anywhere other than their hands, attacking commanders, cascade/exile-cast, flashback, escape, and graveyard casting patterns.
  • Timing: Deploy before the opponent's commander or nonhand-cast turn; protect it if it is locking their primary plan.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{W}; outputs a 1/3 body and casting restriction on opponents.
  • Partners / packages: Protected by Sylvan Safekeeper, Legolas's Quick Reflexes, Grand Abolisher, Silence; searchable by Recruiter of the Guard.
  • Role peers: Rest in Peace attacks graveyards directly; Silence stops spell casting for one turn; Ranger-Captain of Eos stops noncreature spells for one turn.
  • Failure modes: Does not stop spells cast from hand or activated/triggered abilities; weak versus battlefield creature pressure.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Side in against commander-centric, graveyard-casting, exile-casting, and cascade-like opponents.

Stony Silence

  • Deck role: Sideboard, 1 copy, artifact activated-ability hate enchantment.
  • Role type: sideboard bullet; hate piece.
  • Deck-specific job: Stops activated abilities of artifacts from being activated, attacking artifact mana and artifact combo.
  • Timing: Bring in when opposing artifacts matter more than your own artifact plan; cast before artifact engines activate if possible.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{W}; outputs a static artifact-ability lock.
  • Partners / packages: Tutor via Enlightened Tutor; use with creature/land-based plans involving Gaea's Cradle, Brigid, Doun's Mind, Green Sun's Zenith, Finale of Devastation.
  • Role peers: Collector Ouphe gives the same artifact-ability lock on a tutorable creature; Force of Vigor and Krosan Grip remove specific artifacts/enchantments.
  • Failure modes: Shuts off your Sol Ring, Lotus Petal, Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, and Haywire Mite activated abilities, so avoid it when those are the chosen win or answer.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Side in versus artifact mana/combo/equipment engines; avoid against decks where artifacts are incidental.

Linvala, Keeper of Silence

  • Deck role: Sideboard, 1 copy, creature activated-ability hate flyer.
  • Role type: sideboard bullet; hate piece; threat/clock.
  • Deck-specific job: Stops activated abilities of creatures opponents control, while providing a 3/4 flying body.
  • Timing: Bring in and deploy against creature-ability commanders, mana dork engines, and activated creature combo; protect if it is the lock piece.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {2}{W}{W}; outputs a flying 3/4 and opponent-creature ability restriction.
  • Partners / packages: Cast with Delighted Halfling as an uncounterable legendary spell; searchable by broad creature tutors such as Eladamri's Call, Chord of Calling, Finale of Devastation.
  • Role peers: Drannith Magistrate stops nonhand casting; Collector Ouphe stops artifact abilities; Swords to Plowshares removes one creature.
  • Failure modes: Does not stop triggered abilities, static abilities, noncreature activated abilities, or your opponents' land abilities.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Side in against creature-combo and activated-commanders; too slow against spell combo without creature abilities.

Collector Ouphe

  • Deck role: Sideboard, 1 copy, tutorable artifact activated-ability hate creature.
  • Role type: sideboard bullet; hate piece.
  • Deck-specific job: Stops activated abilities of artifacts from being activated, while being a green creature searchable by creature tutors.
  • Timing: Bring in when opponent artifact engines are central and your own artifact plan can be cut or ignored.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {1}{G}; outputs a 2/2 body and artifact-ability lock.
  • Partners / packages: Searchable by Green Sun's Zenith, Chord of Calling, Finale of Devastation, Worldly Tutor, Eladamri's Call, Woodland Bellower; pairs with nonartifact mana Gaea's Cradle, Brigid, Doun's Mind, mana creatures.
  • Role peers: Stony Silence is enchantment version; Force of Vigor, Krosan Grip, and Reclamation Sage remove specific artifacts/enchantments.
  • Failure modes: Shuts off your Sol Ring, Lotus Petal, Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, and Haywire Mite; also reduces value of artifact bodies if their abilities matter.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Side in versus artifact combo and fast artifact mana; avoid if Staff of Domination or Umbral Mantle is your best win route.

Reclamation Sage

  • Deck role: Sideboard, 1 copy, creature-tutorable artifact/enchantment removal.
  • Role type: sideboard bullet; interaction-removal; hate piece.
  • Deck-specific job: On entry, may destroy target artifact or enchantment, turning creature tutors into permanent interaction.
  • Timing: Bring in when visible artifacts/enchantments matter; tutor or cast when the target stops your engine, threatens a lock, or enables the opponent's win.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {2}{G}; outputs a 2/1 Elf Shaman and optional artifact/enchantment destruction.
  • Partners / packages: Searchable by Green Sun's Zenith, Chord of Calling, Finale of Devastation, Worldly Tutor, Eladamri's Call, Woodland Bellower, Recruiter of the Guard; reusable with Emiel the Blessed.
  • Role peers: Witch Enchanter removes opponent artifact/enchantment from main deck; Krosan Grip has split second; Force of Vigor can hit up to two targets.
  • Failure modes: Sorcery-speed creature entry can be too slow; optional trigger should not destroy your own permanents unless engine legality somehow forces it.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Side in versus artifact/enchantment engines; skip versus creature-only or spell-only opponents.

Krosan Grip

  • Deck role: Sideboard, 1 copy, split-second artifact/enchantment removal.
  • Role type: sideboard bullet; interaction-removal; hate piece.
  • Deck-specific job: Destroys target artifact or enchantment with split second, preventing most spells and non-mana activated abilities from being used in response.
  • Timing: Hold for the artifact/enchantment that must die through protection, combo activation, or counterplay.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {2}{G}; outputs destruction of one target artifact or enchantment.
  • Partners / packages: Complements Boseiju, Who Endures, Haywire Mite, Witch Enchanter, Reclamation Sage, Force of Vigor; can clear hate before Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, or Finale of Devastation.
  • Role peers: Force of Vigor can hit two targets or be free on opponent turn; Reclamation Sage is tutorable as a creature.
  • Failure modes: Cannot hit creatures unless they are artifacts/enchantments only if target type qualifies; split second still allows mana abilities.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Side in against artifact/enchantment combo, prison, and protected permanents.

Force of Vigor

  • Deck role: Sideboard, 1 copy, free-speed artifact/enchantment removal.
  • Role type: sideboard bullet; interaction-removal; hate piece.
  • Deck-specific job: Destroys up to two target artifacts and/or enchantments; if it is not your turn, you may exile a green card from hand rather than pay {2}{G}{G}.
  • Timing: Use free mode on an opponent's turn when tapping mana would lose tempo or the target must die immediately; hard-cast when green mana is available and hand cards are precious.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes either {2}{G}{G} or one exiled green card on a non-your-turn cast; outputs destruction of up to two targets.
  • Mode map: Normal cast pays mana; alternate cost works only when it is not your turn and exiles a green card from hand.
  • Partners / packages: Green cards to pitch only when expendable include redundant mana creatures or stranded green payoffs; removal overlap with Krosan Grip, Reclamation Sage, Boseiju, Who Endures, Haywire Mite.
  • Role peers: Krosan Grip beats responses with split second; Reclamation Sage is creature-tutorable but slower.
  • Failure modes: Exiling the only green engine, tutor, or protection card can lose the game; it destroys, not exiles.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Side in against fast artifact/enchantment starts and prison pieces; avoid when targets are scarce.

Burrenton Forge-Tender

  • Deck role: Sideboard, 1 copy, red-damage prevention creature.
  • Role type: sideboard bullet; protection/evasion; lifegain/stabilization.
  • Deck-specific job: Has protection from red and can sacrifice to prevent all damage a red source of your choice would deal this turn.
  • Timing: Bring in against red removal, red sweepers, burn, or red combat pressure; sacrifice only for a red source that would kill a key permanent, cause lethal damage, or swing the race.
  • Inputs / outputs: Consumes {W}; outputs a 1/1 protection-from-red body and one sacrifice prevention shield against a chosen red source.
  • Partners / packages: Protects Brigid, Clachan's Heart, Grand Abolisher, mana creatures, Emiel the Blessed, and your life total from red damage; searchable by Ranger of Eos, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Recruiter of the Guard, Starfield Shepherd.
  • Role peers: Swords to Plowshares and Path to Exile answer red creatures; Legolas's Quick Reflexes protects one creature from targeted effects but not sweep damage.
  • Failure modes: Does nothing against nonred damage, exile, bounce, sacrifice, or -X/-X effects.
  • Matchup / visibility hooks: Side in versus burn, red sweepers, and red creature decks; low value against nonred combo or control.

Interaction Priorities

  • Remove the permanent or stack-adjacent threat that stops the current role first. Use Swords to Plowshares, Boseiju, Who Endures, Haywire Mite, Witch Enchanter, Endurance, Emerald Charm, and post-board Path to Exile, Reclamation Sage, Krosan Grip, or Force of Vigor on cards that prevent mana development, shut off tutoring, invalidate combat, or threaten an immediate win; Card text check required for exact Emerald Charm and Witch Enchanter modes before relying on them.

  • Spend creature removal on engines, commanders, and lethal attackers before ordinary value creatures. Swords to Plowshares and post-board Path to Exile should answer a visible creature that wins, locks, or kills soon; do not fire them at a small attacker when Brigid, Clachan's Heart, blocks, or life total can absorb the damage.

  • Exile graveyards at the first decisive graveyard window, not as a cosmetic action. Endurance and post-board Rest in Peace matter when a graveyard is enabling a combo, recursion loop, escape-like pressure, reanimation, or library-pressure line; avoid using Endurance only for a body unless survival, ambush blocking, or library preservation is the actual point.

  • Destroy artifacts and enchantments according to engine impact. Boseiju, Who Endures, Haywire Mite, Witch Enchanter, Reclamation Sage, Krosan Grip, and Force of Vigor should prioritize hate that stops creature abilities, mana production, tutoring, untapping, or the final Finale of Devastation turn over generic card-advantage permanents.

  • Treat stack protection as commitment protection, not routine tempo. Silence, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Veil of Summer, Legolas's Quick Reflexes, Sylvan Safekeeper, and Voice of Victory should protect a tutor chain, Natural Order, Eldritch Evolution, Finale of Devastation, Tooth and Nail, Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, or a lethal combat turn; Card text check required for exact Voice of Victory and Legolas's Quick Reflexes protection assumptions.

  • Use bait cards when a protected engine turn is one turn away. Cast expendable acceleration, Esper Sentinel, Recruitment Officer, Stoneforge Mystic, or a nonessential tutor before the decisive Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, Emiel the Blessed, Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, Finale of Devastation, or Tooth and Nail line if the opponent is representing interaction and the current board is not under lethal pressure.

  • Ignore low-impact threats when the deck is ahead on mana and close to conversion. A small creature, slow draw permanent, or nonlethal attack should not pull interaction away from establishing Gaea's Cradle, protecting Brigid, Clachan's Heart, resolving a tutor, or assembling an untap engine.

  • Accept that this list has no normal discard, bounce, or hard-counter package. Do not invent discard, bounce, or counter lines; only choose those effects if Forge exposes a legal action from a visible registered card, and keep any unfamiliar text conditional with Card text check required.

  • Change interaction role by archetype. Against fast creature decks, prioritize Brigid, Clachan's Heart, creature removal, blockers, and Burrenton Forge-Tender; against graveyard decks, prioritize Endurance and Rest in Peace; against artifact or activated-ability engines, prioritize Collector Ouphe, Stony Silence, Linvala, Keeper of Silence, and artifact/enchantment removal; against stack-heavy decks, prioritize Silence, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, and Veil of Summer before tapping out.

Combat And Trading Rules

  • Preserve mana creatures until a trade changes survival or wins the race. Arbor Elf, Avacyn's Pilgrim, Birds of Paradise, Boreal Druid, Elvish Mystic, Fyndhorn Elves, Llanowar Elves, Delighted Halfling, and Dryad Arbor should not attack or block into ordinary trades when they enable Gaea's Cradle, convoke-like actions, untap engines, or a next-turn tutor payoff.

  • Use Brigid, Clachan's Heart to control combat when her legal ability changes attacks or blocks. Commit and protect the commander when opposing small or medium creatures must attack through her, but avoid exposing her into open removal if the opponent is not pressuring combat or if the hand already has a stronger engine commitment.

  • Block to preserve the engine before preserving life total. Trade expendable zero-mana bodies such as Memnite, Ornithopter, Phyrexian Walker, and Shield Sphere before risking a mana creature, tutor creature, Wirewood Symbiote, Quirion Ranger, Scryb Ranger, Hyrax Tower Scout, Village Bell-Ringer, Emiel the Blessed, or Ashaya, Soul of the Wild.

  • Attack only when the creature is not required for mana, protection, or a pending combo line. Chip damage from utility bodies is acceptable against slow opponents, but hold back creatures needed for Gaea's Cradle, Chord of Calling, Natural Order, Eldritch Evolution, Altar of Bone, Wirewood Symbiote, Quirion Ranger, Scryb Ranger, Mobilize, or Vitalize unless the attack creates lethal pressure.

  • Trade aggressively against commanders and engines that outscale combat control. If a block removes a creature that turns on the opponent's core plan, take the trade even with a useful body, but do not trade a unique combo piece unless the alternative is immediate lethal damage or a locked board.

  • Protect only the creature that matters to the current line. Use Sylvan Safekeeper, Veil of Summer, Legolas's Quick Reflexes, Silence, Ranger-Captain of Eos, or Grand Abolisher for Brigid, Clachan's Heart, Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, Emiel the Blessed, a decisive tutor creature, or a win-converting attacker; do not spend protection on an interchangeable mana creature unless that creature is the only path to a legal winning turn.

  • Respect life thresholds by switching roles early. Above 25 life, prioritize mana and engine setup unless the opponent has visible burst damage; from 12 to 20, keep blockers and removal available before tapping out; below 12, treat every attack step as survival math and favor Brigid, Clachan's Heart, removal, and fog-like or protection text only when legal actions confirm it.

  • Convert stabilized boards into a closer within two turn cycles. Once combat is controlled, search for Finale of Devastation, Tooth and Nail, Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, Woodland Bellower, Brightglass Gearhulk, Shared Summons, or the missing engine piece instead of making harmless attacks that leave the opponent time to rebuild.

  • Change combat posture by archetype. Against creature swarms, defend first and let Brigid, Clachan's Heart punish attacks; against combo or control, attack with spare bodies to shorten the clock while protecting mana; against artifact or prison decks, keep enough creatures untapped to use tutors and removal after sideboard hate changes the board.

Selection And Tutor Rules

  • Prioritize green mana before toolbox selection. Use early tutors to fix the engine only after the hand has green production from a land, Lotus Petal, Elvish Spirit Guide, Sol Ring, or a one-mana creature; do not tutor for an expensive payoff while the next turn still lacks castable mana.

  • Find acceleration when the hand has action but no scale. Green Sun's Zenith, Worldly Tutor, Chord of Calling, Invasion of Ikoria, Ranger of Eos, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Recruiter of the Guard, Woodland Bellower, and Brightglass Gearhulk should favor Arbor Elf, Avacyn's Pilgrim, Birds of Paradise, Delighted Halfling, Elvish Mystic, Fyndhorn Elves, Llanowar Elves, Quirion Ranger, Scryb Ranger, or Wirewood Symbiote when the board is short on mana bodies.

  • Search for protection before the decisive turn. If a visible tutor can find Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Sylvan Safekeeper, Veil of Summer, Silence, or Voice of Victory, prefer protection over a payoff when the opponent has open mana, cards in hand, or known interaction; Card text check required for exact Voice of Victory usage.

  • Search for the missing engine piece only after the mana base supports it. Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, Emiel the Blessed, Hyrax Tower Scout, Village Bell-Ringer, Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, Mobilize, and Vitalize are high-value finds when the board already contains enough creatures or mana to convert immediately or survive a turn cycle.

  • Treat sacrifice tutors as commitment gates. Use Natural Order, Eldritch Evolution, and Altar of Bone only when the sacrificed creature is expendable relative to the target and the target changes the game immediately; avoid sacrificing the only mana creature, Dryad Arbor, Quirion Ranger, Scryb Ranger, Wirewood Symbiote, or a protection creature unless the legal line is winning or prevents a loss.

  • Use Crop Rotation and Archdruid's Charm for lands only when the land changes the turn. Prioritize Gaea's Cradle when creature count makes it decisive, Boseiju, Who Endures when a visible artifact, enchantment, or land must be answered, and colored fixing when white or green is the bottleneck; do not assume Gaea's Cradle is good before enough creatures are visible.

  • Use top-deck tutors with draw timing in mind. Worldly Tutor and Enlightened Tutor should usually be cast at the latest safe instant-speed window before the draw step, unless casting earlier protects against discard, uses otherwise wasted mana, or responds to a visible threat with Endurance, Haywire Mite, Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, or another exact answer.

  • Convert large mana into closure instead of more setup. When Gaea's Cradle, untap effects, or multiple creatures produce a major mana advantage, use Finale of Devastation, Tooth and Nail, Shared Summons, Chord of Calling, or Green Sun's Zenith to find a win-converting creature pair or payoff rather than another incremental body.

  • Respect card-text uncertainty on newer or unfamiliar pieces. Badgermole Cub, Formidable Speaker, Elite Interceptor, Flash Thompson, Spider-Fan, Nature's Rhythm, Starfield Shepherd, and Talon Gates of Madara require Card text check required before being chosen as deterministic tutor targets.

Priority And Stack Rules

  • Hold priority decisions to the current legal action list. Do not invent a response, target, or activated ability; choose only actions Forge exposes, and pass when the visible stack and legal actions show no relevant registered-card interaction.

  • Cast Silence before committing, not after the opponent responds. Use Silence, Grand Abolisher, or Ranger-Captain of Eos before Natural Order, Eldritch Evolution, Tooth and Nail, Finale of Devastation, Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, or a multi-spell tutor chain when the opponent can interact.

  • Use Veil of Summer reactively when the stack confirms relevance. Do not fire Veil of Summer into an empty stack for vague protection; prefer it when the visible spell or ability, target, color, or rules text makes protection or card draw legally meaningful.

  • Use removal at the last safe window. Swords to Plowshares, Path to Exile, Boseiju, Who Endures, Haywire Mite, Witch Enchanter, Krosan Grip, Force of Vigor, and Reclamation Sage should answer a permanent before it blocks a combo, attacks for lethal, disables creature abilities, or resolves a decisive activation, not merely because it is available.

  • Use Endurance when graveyard timing matters. Respond to a visible graveyard payoff, tutor, recursion spell, library-risk line, or combat ambush opportunity; avoid spending Endurance as an ordinary flash creature unless the body changes survival or pressure.

  • Activate engine pieces only with a clear mana or board result. Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, Emiel the Blessed, Seedcradle Witch, Quirion Ranger, Scryb Ranger, Wirewood Symbiote, Mobilize, and Vitalize should be used when the untap, blink, pump, or mana conversion produces a legal follow-up, protects a key permanent, or changes combat math.

  • Let low-impact spells resolve when interaction must protect the win. Preserve Silence, Veil of Summer, Legolas's Quick Reflexes, Sylvan Safekeeper, and removal for stack actions or permanents that stop the selected line, threaten lethal, or remove the only engine piece; Card text check required for exact Legolas's Quick Reflexes windows.

  • Sequence optional triggers and payments around the decisive resource. Pay, activate, or sacrifice only if the remaining mana and permanents still allow the chosen tutor, protection, removal, or combo action; never consume the last white mana before a needed Swords to Plowshares, Silence, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, or Recruiter of the Guard line.

  • Use combat priority windows for tricks only after blockers or threats are known. Cast instant-speed removal, protection, Chord of Calling, Emerald Charm, Vitalize, Mobilize, or creature tutors during combat only when the visible attack, block, lethal math, or engine opportunity justifies exposing the card.

Sideboard Map

  • Treat sideboarding as role selection, not automatic hate loading. Add sideboard cards only when the opponent's revealed commander, permanents, graveyard use, artifact density, activated abilities, or creature pressure makes the card immediately relevant; preserve the green creature-mana core unless the matchup demands a prison-hate role.

  • Use Path to Exile against creature commanders, fast creature pressure, and creature-combo boards where a second cheap exile effect matters. It is weak when giving a land accelerates the opponent into a bigger decisive turn or when the opponent presents few creatures. Role change: the deck becomes more defensive midrange and should preserve white mana more carefully.

  • Use Rest in Peace against graveyard recursion, graveyard combo, escape-style engines, reanimation, or commanders that repeatedly exploit graveyard zones. It is bad when the opponent is not graveyard-reliant because it reduces the value of Endurance and Eternal Witness while consuming a turn that could develop mana or a tutor.

  • Use Drannith Magistrate against commanders and cast-from-nonhand plans. It is weak against battlefield-centric creature decks that can ignore the restriction and pressure life totals. Role change: tutor for protection or removal backup after resolving it, because the card becomes a visible must-answer permanent.

  • Use Stony Silence against artifact mana, artifact combo, and equipment-heavy opponents. It is dangerous when Sol Ring, Lotus Petal, Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, Haywire Mite, or artifact creatures are central to the selected line; choose it only when opposing artifacts matter more than our artifact engine.

  • Use Linvala, Keeper of Silence against creature activated-ability engines and commanders whose activated abilities define the game. It is slow against spell-combo, graveyard-combo, or creature decks that mainly attack. Role change: after resolving it, prioritize mana development and closing power because the opponent may pivot to removal or combat.

  • Use Collector Ouphe against artifact mana and artifact-combo decks when a tutorable creature hate piece is better than a noncreature hate piece. It is harmful when our line depends on Sol Ring, Lotus Petal, Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, Haywire Mite, Ornithopter, Phyrexian Walker, Shield Sphere, or Memnite; avoid it if our best visible plan is artifact-based mana or engine conversion.

  • Use Reclamation Sage against artifacts or enchantments where a creature tutor can find removal. It is low-impact when there is no visible target or when the opponent's important threats are creatures, spells, or graveyards. Role change: it turns Green Sun's Zenith, Chord of Calling, Finale of Devastation, and creature tutors into interaction lines.

  • Use Krosan Grip against artifacts or enchantments that must not be protected by stack interaction. It is weak when the opponent has no decisive artifact or enchantment, or when holding three mana causes the deck to miss a development turn. Role change: preserve green mana and wait for the permanent that actually stops the win or threatens loss.

  • Use Force of Vigor against fast artifact or enchantment starts, especially when tapping mana would lose tempo. It is bad when the hand cannot afford the green-card cost or when exiling a key green card removes the only tutor, engine piece, or stabilizer. Role change: the pilot may keep slightly slower hands if they contain green mana plus this free interaction.

  • Use Burrenton Forge-Tender against red removal, red sweepers, and red combat-pressure decks. It is weak when damage prevention has no relevant color or when the opponent wins through exile, bounce, sacrifice, graveyard, or non-damage combos. Role change: protect Brigid, Clachan's Heart, mana creatures, or a decisive engine turn before spending it for minor damage.

Graveyard Engine Plan Side in: Rest in Peace; Drannith Magistrate; Path to Exile Cut: Eternal Witness; Disciple of Freyalise; Badgermole Cub

Artifact Engine Plan Side in: Collector Ouphe; Force of Vigor; Krosan Grip; Reclamation Sage Cut: Staff of Domination; Umbral Mantle; Stoneforge Mystic; Brightglass Gearhulk

Creature-Commander Pressure Plan Side in: Path to Exile; Linvala, Keeper of Silence; Burrenton Forge-Tender Cut: Tooth and Nail; Shared Summons; Sowing Mycospawn

Spell/Commander Access Plan Side in: Drannith Magistrate; Path to Exile; Rest in Peace Cut: Memnite; Ornithopter; Phyrexian Walker

  • Against graveyard decks, add role cards: Rest in Peace, Endurance, and graveyard-aware tutor lines. Reduce main-deck emphasis: Eternal Witness, slow value creatures, and sacrifice-tutor lines that do not immediately stop the graveyard turn.

  • Against artifact-heavy decks, add role cards: Collector Ouphe, Stony Silence, Force of Vigor, Krosan Grip, and Reclamation Sage. Reduce main-deck emphasis: artifact-dependent finishes with Staff of Domination or Umbral Mantle when hate permanents are part of the plan.

  • Against creature-combo or activated-ability commanders, add role cards: Linvala, Keeper of Silence, Path to Exile, Swords to Plowshares, Brigid, Clachan's Heart, and creature tutors that find hate. Reduce main-deck emphasis: expensive tutor chains that do not affect the battlefield before the opponent's next turn.

  • Against red pressure or red damage interaction, add role cards: Burrenton Forge-Tender, Path to Exile, Swords to Plowshares, Legolas's Quick Reflexes, Sylvan Safekeeper, and fast accelerants. Reduce main-deck emphasis: slow top-end such as Tooth and Nail, Shared Summons, and conditional engine artifacts if survival is the bottleneck.

  • Against low-permanent spell decks, add role cards: Drannith Magistrate, Silence, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Veil of Summer, and compact tutor pressure. Reduce main-deck emphasis: artifact/enchantment removal unless the opponent has revealed a decisive target.

  • Against fair creature combat, keep the deck's creature density high. Brigid, Clachan's Heart and efficient removal matter more than narrow hate; only add sideboard cards that answer visible commanders, damage color, or activated abilities.

  • Against unknown opponents, do not dilute the deck before evidence appears. Prefer the registered main configuration unless the command zone, revealed cards, or game-one logs show graveyard reliance, artifact reliance, activated-ability reliance, red damage pressure, or a creature commander that must be exiled.

Matchup Guidance

  • Unknown opponents: keep the proactive green-mana plan intact until public information justifies a role shift. Prioritize hands with early green, one accelerator such as Arbor Elf, Birds of Paradise, Elvish Mystic, Fyndhorn Elves, Llanowar Elves, Utopia Sprawl, or Wild Growth, and at least one payoff, tutor, or interaction path. Do not weaken creature density for narrow sideboard cards unless the commander, revealed cards, or game-one log proves graveyard, artifact, enchantment, activated-ability, red-damage, or commander-casting reliance.

  • Aggro decks: become defensive midrange first, then convert the stabilized board into a tutor or mana-engine win. Keep blockers and mana creatures alive when they buy an extra turn, and avoid attacks that expose Brigid, Clachan's Heart, Gaea's Cradle, or future convoke-style mana from Chord of Calling. Add role cards: Path to Exile, Burrenton Forge-Tender when red damage matters, and Linvala, Keeper of Silence only when activated abilities drive the pressure. Reduce main-deck emphasis: slow top-end such as Tooth and Nail, Shared Summons, and Sowing Mycospawn when the immediate question is survival.

  • Go-wide creature decks: treat Brigid, Clachan's Heart as a battlefield-control commander rather than only a threat. Preserve white mana for Swords to Plowshares, protect Brigid with Sylvan Safekeeper, Legolas's Quick Reflexes, Grand Abolisher, Silence, or Ranger-Captain of Eos when those legal windows appear, and let the rules engine decide whether Brigid can legally influence combat damage. Village Bell-Ringer, Mobilize, and Vitalize can reset blockers or mana creatures, but do not assume extra combat control unless legal actions explicitly show it. Add role cards: Path to Exile, Burrenton Forge-Tender against red damage, and Reclamation Sage only for visible artifact or enchantment payoffs.

  • Single-threat decks: answer the one permanent that actually ends the game instead of spending removal on support pieces. Use Swords to Plowshares and Path to Exile on commander-damage threats, evasive clocks, or engine creatures when no better lock piece is available. Use Linvala, Keeper of Silence if the threat's activated ability is the problem, and use Drannith Magistrate when preventing commander or nonhand casting is more important than removing the current body. Preserve Eladamri's Call, Worldly Tutor, Recruiter of the Guard, and Chord of Calling for the exact hate creature or protection creature required by the visible threat.

  • Burn decks: spend life as a resource only when the action creates a decisive board, protection, or win attempt. Track avoidable Ancient Tomb damage separately from damage required to cast Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Brigid, Clachan's Heart, or a winning tutor chain. Add role cards: Burrenton Forge-Tender, Path to Exile, and cheap protection. Reduce main-deck emphasis: slow engines that require passing a turn with no life-total stabilization. Use Burrenton Forge-Tender for a relevant red damage event or to protect a decisive permanent, not for minor damage if the opponent still has a bigger visible damage window.

  • Control decks: force them to answer mana development, then commit engines only behind protection or when waiting is worse. Lead with accelerants and low-cost creatures, pressure with Esper Sentinel, and use Grand Abolisher, Silence, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Veil of Summer, and Allosaurus Shepherd to create safer windows for Finale of Devastation, Natural Order, Tooth and Nail, Chord of Calling, Green Sun's Zenith, or Shared Summons. Do not fire a major tutor into open interaction if the current board already pressures them and the hand has another development line. Add role cards: Drannith Magistrate when commander or nonhand casting matters, plus Krosan Grip or Force of Vigor only for visible artifacts or enchantments.

  • Removal-heavy decks: sequence redundancy before fragile commitment. Avoid making Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, Emiel the Blessed, Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, or Brigid, Clachan's Heart the only card that matters unless protection is available or the opponent is forced low on resources. Use Sylvan Safekeeper, Legolas's Quick Reflexes, Veil of Summer, Grand Abolisher, Silence, and Ranger-Captain of Eos to protect the first decisive engine turn. Eternal Witness becomes more valuable after traded resources; do not reduce its priority unless graveyard hate from our own plan makes it poor.

  • Tempo decks: prioritize mana efficiency and board presence over expensive selection. Develop one-mana accelerants, use Lotus Petal or Elvish Spirit Guide only when the tempo gained matters, and avoid hands that need Gaea's Cradle to be strong before creatures are visible. Swords to Plowshares, Path to Exile, Endurance, Legolas's Quick Reflexes, and Veil of Summer should answer tempo pivots or protect a turn that catches up on mana. Reduce main-deck emphasis: Tooth and Nail, Shared Summons, and slow artifact engines when the opponent is punishing tapped-out turns.

  • Midrange decks: play as the stronger scaling deck while refusing bad trades of engine pieces. Use cheap creatures to power Gaea's Cradle, Chord of Calling, and Finale of Devastation, then turn tutor density into the highest-impact permanent for the board. Brigid, Clachan's Heart can dominate creature stalls if protected; Woodland Bellower, Ranger of Eos, Recruiter of the Guard, Brightglass Gearhulk, and Eternal Witness should convert mana into material rather than only setting up a distant combo. Add role cards only for specific permanent types or graveyard patterns already seen.

  • Big mana decks: race their top-end by assembling a faster protected engine or a disruptive creature before they resolve a decisive payoff. Prioritize Gaea's Cradle, Crop Rotation, Green Sun's Zenith, Chord of Calling, Finale of Devastation, Natural Order, and Tooth and Nail when the hand can move quickly. Use Drannith Magistrate only if commander or nonhand casting is part of their visible plan, and use Force of Vigor, Krosan Grip, Reclamation Sage, or Boseiju, Who Endures for visible artifact/enchantment acceleration or lock pieces. Avoid slow defensive lines that do not shorten their clock.

  • Combo decks: identify the axis first, then choose hate or a protected faster kill. Against spell or commander-access combo, lean on Silence, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Drannith Magistrate, Veil of Summer, and fast tutor pressure. Against creature-ability combo, prioritize Linvala, Keeper of Silence, Swords to Plowshares, Path to Exile, Brigid, Clachan's Heart, and creature tutors. Against artifact or enchantment combo, prioritize Collector Ouphe, Stony Silence, Force of Vigor, Krosan Grip, Reclamation Sage, Haywire Mite, Witch Enchanter, and Boseiju, Who Endures. Do not hold narrow interaction past the visible decisive window just to preserve a cleaner future line.

  • Graveyard decks: stop the graveyard before building a value loop. Add role cards: Rest in Peace, Endurance, Drannith Magistrate when nonhand casting is involved, and Path to Exile for graveyard-recurring creatures that must be exiled or removed cleanly. Reduce main-deck emphasis: Eternal Witness, Disciple of Freyalise, and graveyard-dependent value when Rest in Peace is part of the plan. If Endurance is the only graveyard interaction, hold it for the graveyard state that actually matters unless the legal action is needed to survive combat or prevent a deterministic combo step.

  • Artifact and enchantment decks: choose hate that least harms the selected winning line. Collector Ouphe and Stony Silence are powerful when opposing artifacts are central, but they also interfere with Sol Ring, Lotus Petal, Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, Haywire Mite, Memnite, Ornithopter, Phyrexian Walker, and Shield Sphere where activated abilities or artifact role matter. Reclamation Sage, Krosan Grip, Force of Vigor, Witch Enchanter, Haywire Mite, and Boseiju, Who Endures are better when a single visible permanent must be answered while preserving our artifact engine. Use Krosan Grip for a permanent that must be answered through stack interaction.

  • Card-text uncertainty matchups: keep unfamiliar registered cards conditional until the rules engine exposes legal actions. Card text check required for Badgermole Cub, Formidable Speaker, Elite Interceptor, Flash Thompson, Spider-Fan, Voice of Victory, Talon Gates of Madara, Nature's Rhythm, and Starfield Shepherd; use them only according to visible legal actions and known battlefield impact. If one of these appears as a tutor candidate, choose it only when its visible characteristics, legal action text, or previously verified card text directly advances the matchup role.

  • Sideboard discipline: make post-board changes serve the matchup axis instead of making the deck generically interactive. Rest in Peace, Drannith Magistrate, Stony Silence, Collector Ouphe, Linvala, Keeper of Silence, Reclamation Sage, Krosan Grip, Force of Vigor, Burrenton Forge-Tender, and Path to Exile each need a visible or strongly inferred job. If the opponent shifts away from the targeted axis, return emphasis to acceleration, creature density, protected tutor lines, and closing power rather than carrying low-impact hate.

Specific Matchup Notes

  • General/archetype-only scope: exact opponents are absent, so revealed cards, commanders, public zones, stack contents, and current legal actions override every matchup assumption here. Use these notes to classify the opposing axis quickly, then let runtime visibility decide whether to accelerate, tutor hate, protect an engine turn, or hold interaction.

  • Fast creature pressure: stabilize first with mana creatures only when they survive combat math or unlock Brigid, Clachan's Heart, Swords to Plowshares, Path to Exile, Burrenton Forge-Tender, Legolas's Quick Reflexes, or a tutor into a blocker. Add role cards: Path to Exile, Burrenton Forge-Tender, and Linvala, Keeper of Silence when combat damage, red damage, or creature abilities are visibly decisive. Reduce main-deck emphasis: Tooth and Nail, Shared Summons, and slow Staff of Domination or Umbral Mantle setup when the next two turn cycles are about survival.

  • Removal-heavy midrange or control: commit engines only behind Silence, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Veil of Summer, Sylvan Safekeeper, or Legolas's Quick Reflexes, and avoid spending Natural Order, Eldritch Evolution, or Altar of Bone when the sacrifice leaves no recovery plan. Priority targets are opposing cards that stop tutor resolution, remove Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, break Gaea's Cradle scaling, or prevent a protected Finale of Devastation turn.

  • Graveyard decks: treat graveyard access as the matchup axis before pursuing recursive value. Add role cards: Rest in Peace, Endurance, Drannith Magistrate when casting from nonhand zones is visible, and Path to Exile for creatures that must not return. Reduce main-deck emphasis: Eternal Witness and Disciple of Freyalise value when Rest in Peace is active or likely to be central.

  • Artifact or enchantment engines: choose the least self-harming answer for the visible permanent. Add role cards: Force of Vigor, Krosan Grip, Reclamation Sage, Collector Ouphe, and Stony Silence; prefer Krosan Grip, Reclamation Sage, Witch Enchanter, Haywire Mite, or Boseiju, Who Endures when preserving Sol Ring, Lotus Petal, Staff of Domination, or Umbral Mantle matters. Priority targets are permanents that generate mana, deny activated abilities, lock combat, or stop creature tutoring.

  • Commander or nonhand-casting combo: deploy hate before racing if the opponents commander, exile, graveyard, or library-cast line is already public. Add role cards: Drannith Magistrate, Silence, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Veil of Summer, and Endurance according to the visible axis. Do not hold Silence for value if the opponent is entering a decisive main phase with enough resources to win.

  • Creature-ability combo: prioritize Linvala, Keeper of Silence, Brigid, Clachan's Heart, Swords to Plowshares, Path to Exile, Chord of Calling, Green Sun's Zenith, and Finale of Devastation as interruption or hate access. If the opponents combo requires combat or tapping creatures, preserve untap-speed interaction and avoid attacks that expose Brigid, Clachan's Heart or mana creatures needed to keep control active.

Risk Summary

  • Mana risk: hands without early green mana or an accelerator such as Arbor Elf, Birds of Paradise, Delighted Halfling, Elvish Mystic, Fyndhorn Elves, Llanowar Elves, Utopia Sprawl, Wild Growth, Sol Ring, or Lotus Petal can look functional but fail to reach the decks tutor turns. Flag keeps that require Gaea's Cradle before enough creatures are visible.

  • Matchup risk: narrow hate can be wrong when the opponents real axis differs from the first visible card. Use Rest in Peace, Stony Silence, Collector Ouphe, Drannith Magistrate, and Linvala, Keeper of Silence only when the public game state or revealed cards justify their cost to our own plan.

  • Draw risk: the deck can draw the wrong half, especially expensive selection such as Tooth and Nail, Shared Summons, Brightglass Gearhulk, Sowing Mycospawn, or Woodland Bellower without enough mana, or zero-mana bodies such as Memnite, Ornithopter, Phyrexian Walker, and Shield Sphere without payoff.

  • Over-sideboarding risk: too many reactive cards can reduce creature density for Gaea's Cradle, Chord of Calling, Natural Order, Eldritch Evolution, and Finale of Devastation. Preserve enough acceleration and closing power after adding Path to Exile, Rest in Peace, Drannith Magistrate, Stony Silence, Linvala, Keeper of Silence, Collector Ouphe, Reclamation Sage, Krosan Grip, Force of Vigor, or Burrenton Forge-Tender.

  • Graveyard risk: Rest in Peace can weaken Eternal Witness, Disciple of Freyalise, and any line that expects graveyard value. Cast it when stopping the opponent matters more than our recursion.

  • Sweeper/removal risk: committing Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, Emiel the Blessed, Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, or a wide creature board into obvious interaction can lose both mana and payoff. Sequence protection or redundancy before the decisive engine turn when legal.

  • Closer risk: stabilization without a finisher can give opponents time to recover. After control is established, convert mana into Finale of Devastation, Tooth and Nail, Woodland Bellower, Brightglass Gearhulk, Shared Summons, Staff of Domination, or Umbral Mantle lines rather than passing with only defensive board presence.

  • Interaction risk: using Swords to Plowshares, Endurance, Boseiju, Who Endures, Haywire Mite, Witch Enchanter, Emerald Charm, Veil of Summer, Legolas's Quick Reflexes, Silence, Grand Abolisher, or Ranger-Captain of Eos before the decisive opposing window can leave no answer for the actual threat.

  • Sequencing risk: sacrificing material to Natural Order, Eldritch Evolution, Altar of Bone, or Crop Rotation is dangerous when the searched card is not immediately decisive or protected. Verify legal targets, available mana, protection, and post-resolution board state before committing.

Test Feedback Checklist

  • Deciding factor: record whether the game was decided by early mana development, protected tutor execution, Gaea's Cradle scaling, combat control from Brigid, Clachan's Heart, sideboard hate, or failure to close after stabilizing.

  • Mulligans: note whether the opener had green mana plus Arbor Elf, Avacyn's Pilgrim, Birds of Paradise, Boreal Druid, Delighted Halfling, Elvish Mystic, Fyndhorn Elves, Llanowar Elves, Utopia Sprawl, Wild Growth, Sol Ring, or Lotus Petal; flag keeps that required Gaea's Cradle before enough creatures were visible.

  • Mana: report whether white was available on time for Swords to Plowshares, Silence, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Recruiter of the Guard, Stoneforge Mystic, Witch Enchanter, or sideboard cards, and separate avoidable Ancient Tomb damage from damage required for a decisive legal line.

  • Velocity: record whether Esper Sentinel, Ranger of Eos, Recruiter of the Guard, Woodland Bellower, Brightglass Gearhulk, Shared Summons, Tooth and Nail, Finale of Devastation, Green Sun's Zenith, Chord of Calling, or Invasion of Ikoria converted mana into pressure, engine assembly, or a win instead of only consuming a turn.

  • Engine execution: note whether Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, Quirion Ranger, Scryb Ranger, Wirewood Symbiote, Hyrax Tower Scout, Village Bell-Ringer, Emiel the Blessed, Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, Mobilize, or Vitalize produced a meaningful mana, combat, or untap advantage. Card text check required for Nature's Rhythm, Starfield Shepherd, Badgermole Cub, Formidable Speaker, Elite Interceptor, Flash Thompson, Spider-Fan, Voice of Victory, and Talon Gates of Madara before assigning engine credit.

  • Interaction timing: record whether Swords to Plowshares, Endurance, Boseiju, Who Endures, Haywire Mite, Witch Enchanter, Emerald Charm, Veil of Summer, Legolas's Quick Reflexes, Silence, Grand Abolisher, or Ranger-Captain of Eos was used before the decisive opposing card, during the correct stack window, or after the window had passed.

  • Sideboard impact: after each post-board game, record whether Path to Exile, Rest in Peace, Drannith Magistrate, Stony Silence, Linvala, Keeper of Silence, Collector Ouphe, Reclamation Sage, Krosan Grip, Force of Vigor, or Burrenton Forge-Tender was drawn, cast, tutored, stranded, actively harmful, or decisive.

  • Closing: record whether the win came through combat, Finale of Devastation, Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, Tooth and Nail, Woodland Bellower, Brightglass Gearhulk, a tutor-chain payoff, or an opponent concession-equivalent lock, and flag games where stabilization happened but no closer appeared within two turn cycles.

  • Role accuracy: classify the pilot's chosen role as beatdown, engine-combo, prison-hate, or defensive midrange, then flag cases where Natural Order, Eldritch Evolution, Altar of Bone, or Crop Rotation sacrificed too much material for that role.

  • Mistakes: log any pass with relevant legal interaction, any tutor for a low-impact card under pressure, any attack that exposed a needed mana creature, and any protection spell used before the opponent committed a stack action.

  • Stranded cards: list expensive or conditional cards stuck in hand, especially Tooth and Nail, Shared Summons, Brightglass Gearhulk, Sowing Mycospawn, Disciple of Freyalise, Natural Order, Eldritch Evolution, Altar of Bone, Staff of Domination, and Umbral Mantle.

  • Performance labels: mark overperformers and underperformers separately from mana failure, pilot sequencing, matchup mismatch, and rules uncertainty.

First Tuning Questions

  • Card quantities: if early turns repeatedly lack acceleration, should the list increase one-mana green sources or reduce slow cards such as Tooth and Nail, Shared Summons, Brightglass Gearhulk, Sowing Mycospawn, or Staff of Domination?

  • Mana base: if white interaction is stranded, should the land mix prioritize more reliable white access over high-ceiling colorless or conditional lines involving Ancient Tomb, Gaea's Cradle, Gemstone Caverns, or Dryad Arbor?

  • Aggro plan: if fast creature pressure beats the deck before Brigid, Clachan's Heart or tutor engines matter, should Path to Exile, Burrenton Forge-Tender, or Linvala, Keeper of Silence become more central in sideboard plans, or should main-deck early blockers and removal density change?

  • Control plan: if removal-heavy opponents stop the engine, should the deck add more protection redundancy around Silence, Grand Abolisher, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Veil of Summer, Sylvan Safekeeper, and Legolas's Quick Reflexes, or reduce sacrifice-based commitments?

  • Closing power: if the deck stabilizes but cannot end games, should Finale of Devastation, Tooth and Nail, Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, and Woodland Bellower lines receive more tutor priority, or does the list need a less conditional closer?

  • Sideboard slots: if hate cards are drawn but not decisive, should Rest in Peace, Stony Silence, Collector Ouphe, Drannith Magistrate, Krosan Grip, Force of Vigor, or Reclamation Sage be rebalanced toward the matchups actually causing losses?

  • Role conflicts: if Rest in Peace, Collector Ouphe, or Stony Silence harms our own Eternal Witness, Sol Ring, Lotus Petal, Staff of Domination, or Umbral Mantle lines more than it hurts the opponent, should the sideboard map prefer narrower answers or different cuts?

  • Tutor discipline: if Natural Order, Eldritch Evolution, Altar of Bone, Crop Rotation, Summoner's Pact, or Worldly Tutor finds low-impact cards under pressure, should the pilot guide tighten matchup-specific tutor ranks and commitment gates?

Veles Tactical Policy

Policy: Acceleration Mulligan Gate

  • Priority: High
  • Decision families: mulligan
  • Cards: Arbor Elf; Avacyn's Pilgrim; Birds of Paradise; Boreal Druid; Delighted Halfling; Elvish Mystic; Fyndhorn Elves; Llanowar Elves; Utopia Sprawl; Wild Growth; Sol Ring; Lotus Petal; Gaea's Cradle
  • Phase windows: Opening hand and mulligan decisions.
  • Runtime cues: opening hand; legal mulligan action; visible lands and accelerants.
  • Use when: keep hands with green mana plus an accelerator, or a fast Sol Ring/Lotus Petal line with a clear follow-up spell.
  • Avoid when: the hand needs Gaea's Cradle to produce mana before two creatures are visible or castable.
  • Instructions: Prefer hands that develop mana on turn one and have either a tutor, protection, interaction, or multiple bodies for Gaea's Cradle; ship slow hands with only expensive payoffs.
  • Pilot skill floor: Basic.
  • No-API allowed: no
  • Light-model allowed: yes

Policy: Pregame Resource Choice

  • Priority: Medium
  • Decision families: pregame; mana
  • Cards: Gemstone Caverns; Elvish Spirit Guide; Lotus Petal
  • Phase windows: Pregame, opening hand, first turn.
  • Runtime cues: pregame exile prompt; action:Gemstone Caverns; visible opening hand.
  • Use when: a temporary resource converts directly into turn-one acceleration, protection, or a tutor line.
  • Avoid when: exiling the only green source, only white source, or only engine payoff leaves the hand unable to function.
  • Instructions: Treat pregame speed as a commitment decision; preserve colored mana and unique engine cards over marginal tempo.
  • Pilot skill floor: Intermediate.
  • No-API allowed: no
  • Light-model allowed: yes

Policy: First Mana Creature Setup

  • Priority: Medium
  • Decision families: mana; priority
  • Cards: Arbor Elf; Avacyn's Pilgrim; Birds of Paradise; Boreal Druid; Delighted Halfling; Elvish Mystic; Fyndhorn Elves; Llanowar Elves; Esper Sentinel
  • Phase windows: Turns one and two main phases.
  • Runtime cues: legal cast action for one-mana creature; untapped green source.
  • Use when: no opposing public threat demands immediate interaction and the creature advances next-turn mana.
  • Avoid when: casting Esper Sentinel instead of a mana creature prevents a known turn-two tutor, commander, or protection play.
  • Instructions: Lead with stable green acceleration first; use Esper Sentinel early when mana is already covered or the opponent is likely to spend noncreature spells.
  • Pilot skill floor: Basic.
  • No-API allowed: no
  • Light-model allowed: yes

Policy: Land Aura And Forest Targeting

  • Priority: Medium
  • Decision families: mana; selection
  • Cards: Utopia Sprawl; Wild Growth; Arbor Elf; Snow-Covered Forest; Temple Garden; Savannah; Lush Portico; Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth
  • Phase windows: Early main phases and land-enchantment target prompts.
  • Runtime cues: action:target Utopia Sprawl; action:target Wild Growth; visible land targets.
  • Use when: enchanting a Forest-enabled land increases next-turn mana and does not expose the only colored source to a visible removal line.
  • Avoid when: the only legal land target is needed for another color this turn or Arbor Elf cannot use the enchanted land soon.
  • Instructions: Pair land auras with Arbor Elf where visible; prioritize green first, then white if hand contains white interaction or tutors.
  • Pilot skill floor: Intermediate.
  • No-API allowed: no
  • Light-model allowed: yes

Policy: Gaea's Cradle Commitment Gate

  • Priority: High
  • Decision families: mana; selection
  • Cards: Gaea's Cradle; Crop Rotation; Dryad Arbor; Memnite; Ornithopter; Phyrexian Walker; Shield Sphere
  • Phase windows: Main phases, tutor/search prompts, land sacrifice costs.
  • Runtime cues: action:Crop Rotation; action:search Gaea's Cradle; visible creature count.
  • Use when: Gaea's Cradle immediately produces enough mana for a tutor chain, commander stabilization, or engine payoff.
  • Avoid when: sacrificing a needed land leaves no colored follow-up or the battlefield has too few creatures for Gaea's Cradle to beat a normal land.
  • Instructions: Treat Crop Rotation for Gaea's Cradle as a high-commitment mana line; count creatures after costs and removal-prone bodies before selecting it.
  • Pilot skill floor: Advanced.
  • No-API allowed: no
  • Light-model allowed: yes

Policy: Engine Commitment Gate

  • Priority: High
  • Decision families: priority; selection; mana
  • Cards: Ashaya, Soul of the Wild; Quirion Ranger; Scryb Ranger; Wirewood Symbiote; Hyrax Tower Scout; Village Bell-Ringer; Emiel the Blessed; Staff of Domination; Umbral Mantle; Mobilize; Vitalize
  • Phase windows: Main phases, priority windows before engine deployment, untap-choice prompts.
  • Runtime cues: legal cast or activate action for listed engine cards; visible mana and creatures.
  • Use when: committing the engine creates immediate mana, repeated untaps, protected board control, or a same-turn finish.
  • Avoid when: tapping out exposes the only engine piece to visible interaction and no protection or redundancy is available.
  • Instructions: Start the engine only after checking colored mana, summoning sickness, protection, and whether waiting gives the opponent a decisive turn.
  • Pilot skill floor: Advanced.
  • No-API allowed: no
  • Light-model allowed: yes

Policy: Deterministic Untap Execution

  • Priority: Medium
  • Decision families: mana; priority
  • Cards: Staff of Domination; Umbral Mantle; Hyrax Tower Scout; Village Bell-Ringer; Mobilize; Vitalize
  • Phase windows: Post-commitment combo turns and visible untap prompts.
  • Runtime cues: action:untap Staff of Domination; action:untap Umbral Mantle; action:untap target creature
  • Use when: the legal action text untaps the visible mana-producing creature or board already selected by the current engine line.
  • Avoid when: multiple legal untap targets are visible and the prompt does not identify the selected engine target.
  • Instructions: Execute the selected untap loop exactly when the action text names the chosen permanent or board-wide untap effect.
  • Pilot skill floor: Intermediate.
  • No-API allowed: yes
  • Light-model allowed: yes

Policy: Protection Timing Gate

  • Priority: High
  • Decision families: priority; interaction
  • Cards: Silence; Grand Abolisher; Ranger-Captain of Eos; Veil of Summer; Sylvan Safekeeper; Legolas's Quick Reflexes; Allosaurus Shepherd
  • Phase windows: Before combo turns, stack interaction windows, opponent priority before decisive spells.
  • Runtime cues: legal cast or activate action for protection; opponent stack object; visible targeted effect.
  • Use when: protection prevents current visible interaction or clears the decisive turn before committing a tutor, engine, or finisher.
  • Avoid when: no relevant stack action or decisive follow-up exists this turn.
  • Instructions: Hold reactive protection until the opponent commits a stack action when possible; use proactive silence effects before the decisive main phase.
  • Pilot skill floor: Advanced.
  • No-API allowed: no
  • Light-model allowed: yes

Policy: Removal And Disruption Priority

  • Priority: High
  • Decision families: interaction; priority
  • Cards: Swords to Plowshares; Endurance; Boseiju, Who Endures; Haywire Mite; Witch Enchanter; Emerald Charm; Path to Exile; Reclamation Sage; Krosan Grip; Force of Vigor
  • Phase windows: Opponent combo windows, combat survival windows, end steps, main phases.
  • Runtime cues: legal interaction action; visible opposing permanent, spell, graveyard, or attack.
  • Use when: the target threatens lethal, stops the engine, disables mana, or represents the opponent's visible payoff.
  • Avoid when: spending the answer on a low-impact permanent leaves no answer to a known higher-impact threat.
  • Instructions: Answer cards that stop mana engines or create immediate loss before answering generic pressure; preserve instant-speed options for stack windows.
  • Pilot skill floor: Advanced.
  • No-API allowed: no
  • Light-model allowed: yes

Policy: Brigid Combat Control

  • Priority: Medium
  • Decision families: combat; interaction
  • Cards: Brigid, Clachan's Heart; Legolas's Quick Reflexes; Seedcradle Witch; Elite Interceptor
  • Phase windows: Declare attackers, declare blockers, combat damage, post-combat.
  • Runtime cues: legal attack, block, or activate action involving Brigid, Clachan's Heart or combat creatures.
  • Use when: combat choices preserve the mana engine, reduce incoming damage, or make Brigid, Clachan's Heart control opposing attackers.
  • Avoid when: attacking exposes a needed mana creature or commander to a visible block without advancing lethal or engine pressure.
  • Instructions: Treat combat as board control first and damage second unless a visible lethal line exists.
  • Pilot skill floor: Intermediate.
  • No-API allowed: no
  • Light-model allowed: yes

Policy: Exact No-Attack Pass

  • Priority: Low
  • Decision families: combat
  • Cards: none
  • Phase windows: Declare attackers.
  • Runtime cues: action:attack no attackers
  • Use when: the only legal combat action text declares no attackers and no creature is required to attack.
  • Avoid when: any legal action declares one or more attackers.
  • Instructions: Choose the no-attacker action only when the legal action list contains no creature attack option.
  • Pilot skill floor: Basic.
  • No-API allowed: yes
  • Light-model allowed: yes

Policy: Tutor Commitment Gate

  • Priority: High
  • Decision families: selection; mana; priority
  • Cards: Worldly Tutor; Enlightened Tutor; Eladamri's Call; Green Sun's Zenith; Chord of Calling; Finale of Devastation; Invasion of Ikoria; Summoner's Pact; Natural Order; Eldritch Evolution; Altar of Bone; Shared Summons; Tooth and Nail; Ranger of Eos; Recruiter of the Guard; Woodland Bellower; Brightglass Gearhulk; Stoneforge Mystic; Archdruid's Charm
  • Phase windows: Main phases, end steps, search prompts, sacrifice-cost prompts.
  • Runtime cues: legal tutor, search, sacrifice, or selection action.
  • Use when: the tutor converts current mana and board into acceleration, protection, hate, engine assembly, or a finisher this turn or next turn.
  • Avoid when: sacrifice or mana costs remove the only material needed to survive the opponent's visible board.
  • Instructions: Select the tutor target from current role: mana when constrained, protection before commitment, hate against visible engine, finisher after stabilization.
  • Pilot skill floor: Advanced.
  • No-API allowed: no
  • Light-model allowed: yes

Policy: Deterministic Finale Finish

  • Priority: High
  • Decision families: selection; combat; mana
  • Cards: Finale of Devastation; Gaea's Cradle
  • Phase windows: Main phase before combat, lethal setup turns.
  • Runtime cues: action:cast Finale of Devastation; visible X value; visible attackers.
  • Use when: legal action text and visible mana allow a Finale of Devastation line that produces lethal combat damage this turn.
  • Avoid when: lethal depends on hidden information, unverified card text, or a target choice not shown in the legal action.
  • Instructions: Route through light-model unless the legal action text fully specifies the lethal cast and target.
  • Pilot skill floor: Advanced.
  • No-API allowed: no
  • Light-model allowed: yes

Policy: Commander And Hatebear Deployment

  • Priority: Medium
  • Decision families: priority; interaction
  • Cards: Brigid, Clachan's Heart; Grand Abolisher; Ranger-Captain of Eos; Drannith Magistrate; Collector Ouphe; Stony Silence; Linvala, Keeper of Silence; Rest in Peace; Burrenton Forge-Tender; Voice of Victory
  • Phase windows: Main phases before opponent's critical turn.
  • Runtime cues: legal cast action for listed permanent; visible opposing plan.
  • Use when: the permanent restricts the opponent's visible route or protects the next decisive turn.
  • Avoid when: the hate card disables our own active Sol Ring, Lotus Petal, Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, or Eternal Witness line more than the opponent's visible plan.
  • Instructions: Deploy hate as a role choice, not as generic curve filler; check self-conflict before casting artifact or graveyard hate.
  • Pilot skill floor: Intermediate.
  • No-API allowed: no
  • Light-model allowed: yes

Policy: Sideboard Plan Selection

  • Priority: High
  • Decision families: sideboard
  • Cards: Path to Exile; Rest in Peace; Drannith Magistrate; Stony Silence; Linvala, Keeper of Silence; Collector Ouphe; Reclamation Sage; Krosan Grip; Force of Vigor; Burrenton Forge-Tender
  • Phase windows: Between games.
  • Runtime cues: sideboard action; opponent public archetype; previous game log.
  • Use when: a post-board game is starting and opponent's visible plan from the prior game identifies graveyard, artifact, commander/cast restriction, creature-ability, removal, or combat-pressure needs.
  • Avoid when: a sideboard card directly conflicts with the current primary plan and the opponent did not show the matching axis.
  • Instructions: Use exact registered plans from Sideboard Map when available; otherwise choose hate for the opponent's proven axis and cut slow or conflicting main-deck cards.
  • Pilot skill floor: Advanced.
  • No-API allowed: no
  • Light-model allowed: yes

Policy: Card Text Uncertainty Gate

  • Priority: Medium
  • Decision families: priority; selection

  • Phase windows: Any prompt involving listed cards.
  • Runtime cues: legal cast, activate, trigger, or target action for listed cards.
  • Use when: Forge legal actions expose the exact effect, target, cost, and timing.
  • Avoid when: the tactical value depends on unverified card text or a hidden rules outcome.
  • Instructions: Card text check required; use the card only from visible rules-engine action text, and route target or mode choices through light-model.
  • Pilot skill floor: Advanced.
  • No-API allowed: no
  • Light-model allowed: yes
