# Strategy Specifications
## Deck Name And Archetype
Asmo Food is a Modern red-white artifact-food midrange/combo deck built around `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, `The Underworld Cookbook`, `Ovalchase Daredevil`, `Urza's Saga`, `Mox Opal`, `Monument to Endurance`, `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, `Hardened Academic`, and efficient artifact-backed interaction. Main deck count validates as 60 cards, with 37 nonlands and 23 lands when `Urza's Saga` is counted as a land. Sideboard count validates as 15 cards: `Relic of Progenitus`, `Pithing Needle`, `Wear // Tear`, `Drannith Magistrate`, `Prismatic Ending`, `Obsidian Charmaw`, `Vexing Bauble`, and `Pyroclasm`.
The archetype should be treated as a hybrid stock/rogue shell: `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, `The Underworld Cookbook`, `Ovalchase Daredevil`, `Urza's Saga`, and `Mox Opal` form a recognizable Asmo Food core, while `Monument to Endurance`, `Hardened Academic`, `Artist's Talent`, `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, and maindeck `Vexing Bauble` indicate a custom red-white discard/artifact engine plan. Runtime decisions should not assume a fully stock Modern Food list; they should evaluate the visible engine pieces actually present, especially whether discard outlets, Food production, artifact count, and mana acceleration are online.
The format declaration is Modern, but current event legality should be verified before official test results are labeled tournament-legal. `Mox Opal` is a known legality concern in Modern and must be checked against the active banned list before sanctioned-play conclusions are drawn. `Hardened Academic`, `Monument to Endurance`, and `Artist's Talent` also require card-text verification before the pilot treats their triggered abilities, activated abilities, or timing restrictions as certain. Veles must follow the rules engine's offered legal actions over this guide whenever there is any conflict.
The mana identity is primarily red-white with artifact acceleration and fetch-dual consistency. `Bloodstained Mire`, `Wooded Foothills`, and `Arid Mesa` should be viewed as red-source access first, with `Sacred Foundry`, `Elegant Parlor`, `Mountain`, and `Plains` supplying the actual colored mana. `Mox Opal` creates explosive artifact starts only when the visible artifact count supports it; the pilot must not rely on it for colored mana until the engine exposes it as usable. `Sokenzan, Crucible of Defiance` is a land with possible spell-like utility, but channel timing and effect details require rules-engine legality rather than assumption.
The role profile is proactive engine midrange with combo-pressure texture rather than pure aggro or pure control. The deck wants to establish a reusable discard/Food/artifact loop, convert artifacts into board control or pressure, and use `Galvanic Blast`, `Relic of Progenitus`, `Vexing Bauble`, and sideboard hate to disrupt opposing plans. It can win through incremental creatures, Saga-generated artifact pressure, damage from artifact payoffs, or repeated engine triggers, but it should not spend key engine cards as one-shot value unless the visible board state demands survival or presents a closing window.
Opponent information status is unknown for this guide batch. Matchup-specific assumptions must remain conditional until the opponent deck, revealed cards, public zones, and game actions identify the opposing archetype. Use the tags midrange, combo, artifact, sacrifice, and food as the deck's own plan, not as evidence about the opponent.

## Thesis
Asmo Food assembles a red-white artifact discard engine that turns discard outlets, Food artifacts, artifact count, and recursive bodies into repeated pressure. The core loop is `The Underworld Cookbook` plus `Ovalchase Daredevil`, with `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar` converting Food into creature control when the rules engine exposes the legal activation and targets. `Urza's Saga` supplies a second axis by making artifact-sized bodies and finding cheap artifacts, while `Mox Opal` rewards fast artifact density with explosive mana.
The deck wins by making small exchanges compound faster than the opponent can answer them. Prioritize keeping an engine online, preserving recursive discard material, enabling artifact count for `Galvanic Blast` and `Mox Opal`, and using Food as both a resource and removal fuel. `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, `Monument to Endurance`, `Hardened Academic`, and `Artist's Talent` point toward a custom discard-payoff package; Card text check required for `Monument to Endurance`, `Hardened Academic`, and `Artist's Talent`, so runtime choices around those cards must follow visible legal actions and treat their payoff role as conditional until Forge confirms exact text.
The deck is not trying to become a passive control deck. Do not spend early turns only answering minor threats when `The Underworld Cookbook`, `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, `Urza's Saga`, `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, or artifact acceleration can establish inevitability. Do not cash in `Ovalchase Daredevil` as ordinary discard material if a visible `The Underworld Cookbook` loop, discard-trigger payoff, or recurring hand-fuel line is available. Do not overcommit `Mox Opal`, `Vexing Bauble`, or graveyard artifacts into opposing artifact sweepers unless the current legal line advances a decisive engine, removal, or lethal-pressure turn.
The highest priorities are engine access, mana functionality, artifact density, and damage conversion. Keep hands that can cast or find `The Underworld Cookbook`, produce red mana, deploy early artifacts, or use `Urza's Saga` to assemble pressure. Use `Galvanic Blast` as either efficient removal or reach depending on artifact count and clock. Use maindeck `Relic of Progenitus` and `Vexing Bauble` as disruptive artifacts that also contribute to artifact thresholds, but do not let low-impact hate deployment delay a stronger engine start unless the opponent's public information makes the hate urgent.

## Role Package
- Threats: `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, Saga artifact creature tokens from `Urza's Saga`, `Ovalchase Daredevil`, and possible `Sokenzan, Crucible of Defiance` channel tokens are the main board-pressure pieces. Treat `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar` as both threat and removal engine, not merely a creature to attack with. Treat `Ovalchase Daredevil` as recursive pressure only when recurring it does not cost access to a stronger discard loop.
- Payoffs: `Galvanic Blast` converts artifact density into removal or reach, `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar` converts Food into creature control, and `Urza's Saga` converts artifact count into scalable attackers. `Monument to Endurance`, `Hardened Academic`, `Artist's Talent`, and `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun` are the discard-payoff cluster; Card text check required for the first three, so prefer lines where the rules engine visibly presents beneficial triggers, legal selections, or activated abilities rather than assuming exact outcomes.
- Engines: `The Underworld Cookbook`, `Ovalchase Daredevil`, `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, `Urza's Saga`, and `Mox Opal` are the central engine pieces. `The Underworld Cookbook` is the default setup card because it enables Food, discard, recursion, and Asmo access patterns. `Urza's Saga` is both engine and threat, so sequence it early when mana allows and when losing later land flexibility is acceptable.
- Velocity: `Faithless Looting`, `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, `Hardened Academic`, `Artist's Talent`, and discard through `The Underworld Cookbook` are the filtering and hand-sculpting module. Use velocity to find Cookbook, Asmo, Saga, or missing mana, but do not discard unique engine pieces unless a visible recursion or payoff line justifies it. Card text check required for `Hardened Academic` and `Artist's Talent` before treating them as reliable selection engines.
- Interaction: `Galvanic Blast`, `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, `Relic of Progenitus`, `Vexing Bauble`, and sideboard `Pithing Needle`, `Wear // Tear`, `Drannith Magistrate`, `Prismatic Ending`, `Obsidian Charmaw`, `Vexing Bauble`, and `Pyroclasm` form the disruption suite. Use interaction to protect engine time, break opposing combo texture, or clear blockers for artifact pressure; avoid using premium removal on low-impact creatures while Food removal or combat can handle them.
- Protection: `Vexing Bauble`, sideboard `Drannith Magistrate`, sideboard `Pithing Needle`, sideboard `Relic of Progenitus`, and sideboard `Wear // Tear` protect the plan by constraining opposing spell patterns, activated abilities, graveyards, and artifacts/enchantments. Protection is contextual; deploy it before committing fragile engines only when public information identifies a relevant opposing axis.
- Recursion: `Ovalchase Daredevil` is the named recursive card and should be preserved as repeatable discard fuel whenever Food creation is online. `Faithless Looting` may create graveyard value only if the rules engine presents legal flashback or graveyard actions; do not assume access through graveyard hate or replacement effects.
2026-07-02 13:00:25 -03:00
- Mana: `Arid Mesa`, `Bloodstained Mire`, `Wooded Foothills`, `Sacred Foundry`, `Elegant Parlor`, `Mountain`, `Plains`, `Sokenzan, Crucible of Defiance`, `Urza's Saga`, and `Mox Opal` make a red-white artifact mana base. Red mana is the priority color because `Faithless Looting`, `Galvanic Blast`, `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, and Asmo-adjacent setup lines need it; white mana matters for post-board named interaction and any white costs visible at runtime.
- Sideboard modules: `Relic of Progenitus` expands graveyard pressure, `Pithing Needle` answers specific activated abilities, `Wear // Tear` answers artifacts/enchantments, `Drannith Magistrate` pressures cast-from-nonhand plans, `Prismatic Ending` broadens permanent removal, `Obsidian Charmaw` attacks greedy land plans, extra `Vexing Bauble` increases anti-free-spell and artifact-density pressure, and `Pyroclasm` resets small creature boards while sparing the pilot from relying only on Food removal.
2026-06-14 15:24:54 -03:00
## Primary Win Conditions
- Engine pressure wins by establishing `The Underworld Cookbook`, recurring `Ovalchase Daredevil`, and converting Food into board control with `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`. Prioritize this path when a hand has Cookbook access, discard material, red mana, and enough time to trade resources; execute by discarding `Ovalchase Daredevil`, making Food, returning Daredevil when artifacts enter, and using Asmo's visible Food-sacrifice action to remove high-impact creatures. Disruption against this path usually attacks the graveyard, artifacts, or Asmo itself, so preserve redundant Food sources and avoid exposing `Ovalchase Daredevil` to graveyard exile unless the current exchange wins tempo or unlocks lethal pressure.
- `Urza's Saga` wins by producing artifact creature tokens while the deck naturally raises artifact count with Food, `Mox Opal`, `Relic of Progenitus`, `Vexing Bauble`, `The Underworld Cookbook`, and other visible artifacts. Prioritize Saga when the opponent is light on blockers or removal, when Food removal can clear the largest blocker, or when the hand needs a guaranteed artifact tutor line from chapter III. Execute by sequencing artifacts before combat math matters, using Food generation to grow tokens, and using the chapter III search only for a legal artifact that improves the current board, usually `The Underworld Cookbook`, `Relic of Progenitus`, `Vexing Bauble`, or `Mox Opal` depending on visible needs.
- Discard-payoff pressure wins when `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun` turns routine discard into attacking pressure and card access. Prioritize this path when Inti can attack or support an attacker without dying for no gain, when `The Underworld Cookbook` or `Faithless Looting` provides repeatable discard, and when `Ovalchase Daredevil` makes discard low cost. Execute by turning discard into visible trigger value, pushing trample or counters only through legal engine prompts, and using exiled-card play permissions only when the rules engine confirms timing and legality. `Monument to Endurance`, `Hardened Academic`, and `Artist's Talent` may belong to this same payoff cluster, but Card text check required, so treat their win contribution as conditional on visible legal triggers and actions.
- Burn conversion wins when artifact count turns `Galvanic Blast` into reach or clean removal. Prioritize this path when the opponent is low enough that two-point or metalcraft damage changes the clock, when artifact count is already stable, or when removing one blocker lets Saga tokens or Inti pressure end the game. Execute by checking visible artifact count before choosing player or creature targets, preserving `Galvanic Blast` for lethal if the opponent is near burn range, and spending it as removal only when Food removal is unavailable, too slow, or needs Food reserved for a more important Asmo activation.
2026-06-14 15:24:54 -03:00
## Secondary Win Conditions
- Combat backup wins with `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, `Ovalchase Daredevil`, Saga tokens from `Urza's Saga`, and tokens from `Sokenzan, Crucible of Defiance` when the engine is disrupted. Use this plan when graveyard recursion is turned off, Cookbook is absent, or the opponent has spent resources answering artifacts. Attack only when trades improve the clock or protect a planeswalker-like value position; do not throw away Asmo if Food removal is still needed to stabilize.
- Value attrition wins by trading one-for-one while `Ovalchase Daredevil`, Food, flashback from `Faithless Looting` when legally available, and Saga chapter value rebuild material. Use this plan when the opponent answers the first engine but cannot pressure quickly. Keep recursive discard material available, turn excess lands or redundant legends into filtering when legal, and use `Relic of Progenitus` carefully so it does not exile your own `Ovalchase Daredevil` or `Faithless Looting` unless stopping the opponent is worth the loss.
2026-07-02 13:00:25 -03:00
- Soft-lock pressure wins when maindeck `Vexing Bauble` or `Relic of Progenitus` visibly constrains the opponent while artifacts grow Saga tokens and enable `Mox Opal` or `Galvanic Blast`. Use this plan against public evidence of graveyard reliance, zero-cost or alternate-cost spell reliance, or a board where a cheap graveyard hate piece buys enough turns for Food and Saga to take over. Do not deploy hate as a reflex if it delays `The Underworld Cookbook` or a critical mana source.
- `Mox Opal` tempo wins by producing an early burst that lets the deck double-spell, cast a payoff while holding interaction, or accelerate a Saga turn. Prioritize Opal tempo when metalcraft is visible or immediately attainable; avoid lines where a stranded `Mox Opal` replaces a real land in an otherwise fragile hand. Use Opal mana before sacrificing artifacts if sacrificing would turn metalcraft off.
2026-06-14 15:24:54 -03:00
## Emergency Lines
- When behind on life, stabilize before maximizing value. Prioritize Food life-gain only if the rules engine presents it and life total is the immediate failure point; otherwise prioritize `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar` Food removal, `Galvanic Blast` on the largest damage source, `Pyroclasm` post-board if legal, or blocking with Saga tokens and expendable creatures.
- When behind on board, convert Food and burn into tempo instead of saving every resource for recursion. Use Asmo removal on creatures that dominate combat or threaten lethal, use `Galvanic Blast` when it prevents the most damage or clears a lethal attack, and use `Urza's Saga` tokens defensively if they preserve time for Cookbook recursion.
- When behind on cards, protect the repeatable engine rather than chasing one-shot exchanges. Keep `The Underworld Cookbook` active if possible, preserve `Ovalchase Daredevil` as recurring discard material, and use `Faithless Looting` to find land, Cookbook, Asmo, Saga, or interaction only when discarding will not strand the hand.
2026-07-02 13:00:25 -03:00
- When behind on mana, fetch red sources first unless a visible white post-board named spell is the urgent legal play. Use `Mox Opal` only when artifact count supports it, treat `Urza's Saga` as a temporary mana source that will sacrifice itself, and delay colorless-heavy lines if they prevent casting `Galvanic Blast`, `Faithless Looting`, `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, or sideboard removal.
- When the graveyard is shut off, shift away from `Ovalchase Daredevil` recursion and toward artifacts-on-board, Saga tokens, Inti combat, and burn reach. Do not discard essential cards expecting Daredevil to return unless the visible state confirms recursion still works.
- When core engines are removed, identify the remaining clock immediately. If Cookbook is gone, lean on `Urza's Saga`, `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, `Galvanic Blast`, and hard-cast creatures. If Asmo is gone, use Food for life or artifact count and reserve burn for creatures Asmo would have answered. If Saga is gone, prioritize recurring discard engines and incremental damage instead of waiting for a land-based finish.
2026-06-14 15:24:54 -03:00
## Resource Model
- Life is a stabilizing buffer, not the default currency. Spend life from `Bloodstained Mire`, `Wooded Foothills`, `Arid Mesa`, `Sacred Foundry`, and `Elegant Parlor` when the hand needs red mana on time or white sideboard mana, but stop shocking once the visible clock makes Food life-gain or defensive removal more valuable than speed.
- Hand size is an engine resource when discard has payoff. Discard `Ovalchase Daredevil` first to `The Underworld Cookbook`, `Faithless Looting`, or `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun` when artifact entries can return it; discard excess lands, redundant legends, or situational hate only when Daredevil recursion is absent or the visible matchup demands immediate filtering.
- Mana converts into double-spell tempo and activated abilities. Use `Mox Opal` to compress turns only when metalcraft is visible or immediately reachable, and avoid sacrificing artifacts or Foods before spending Opal mana if that would turn it off.
- Board presence is split between engine permanents and combat pressure. Protect `The Underworld Cookbook`, `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, `Urza's Saga`, and `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun` as the main material converters; treat Saga tokens as real threats when artifacts are accumulating and as expendable blockers when survival is the constraint.
- Graveyard value is strongest with `Ovalchase Daredevil` and `Faithless Looting`. Do not activate `Relic of Progenitus` in a way that clears your own recursive material unless stopping the opponent's graveyard or shrinking a lethal line is worth the self-damage.
- Exile matters when runtime presents play permissions from `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun` or other visible effects. Use exiled cards before the permission expires if they improve mana, engine assembly, or interaction, but do not assume hidden or future exile access beyond the rules-engine output.
- Lands are both mana and threats. `Urza's Saga` is a temporary land that becomes artifact pressure and a tutor, so plan future colored mana around its sacrifice; channel `Sokenzan, Crucible of Defiance` only when extra attackers or discard value beats keeping another red land.
- Sacrifice fodder is mostly Food and expendable artifacts. Reserve two Foods for `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar` removal when a creature must die; spend Food for life only when life total is the immediate bottleneck, and spend artifacts to effects only after checking Saga token size, `Mox Opal`, and `Galvanic Blast` artifact count.
- Information comes from visible legal actions and public zones. Let known graveyards, revealed hands, stack objects, and Saga chapter timing decide whether `Relic of Progenitus`, `Vexing Bauble`, `Pithing Needle`, `Wear // Tear`, `Drannith Magistrate`, `Prismatic Ending`, `Obsidian Charmaw`, or `Pyroclasm` is a high-impact bullet; do not infer exact hidden cards.
2026-06-14 15:24:54 -03:00
## Mana Guide
- Red is the primary color requirement. Fetch or play red sources early for `Faithless Looting`, `Galvanic Blast`, `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, `Artist's Talent`, `The Underworld Cookbook` into Asmo lines, and post-board `Wear // Tear`, `Obsidian Charmaw`, or `Pyroclasm` when legal.
- White is secondary but must be planned for sideboard games. Prioritize access to white when holding `Prismatic Ending`, `Drannith Magistrate`, the Tear half of `Wear // Tear`, or when `Sacred Foundry`, `Elegant Parlor`, or `Plains` lets the hand answer the visible matchup without delaying red development.
- Colorless lands need support. Keep hands with `Urza's Saga` only when another land or `Mox Opal` covers early colored spells, because Saga eventually sacrifices itself and cannot cast red or white cards alone.
- Tapped-land sequencing should protect the next legal play. Play `Elegant Parlor` tapped on turn one when the hand has no immediate one-mana red spell or when future white matters; choose untapped `Sacred Foundry` when missing turn-one `Faithless Looting`, `Galvanic Blast`, `The Underworld Cookbook`, or `Relic of Progenitus` would lose tempo.
- Fetch sequencing should preserve flexibility. Use `Bloodstained Mire`, `Wooded Foothills`, and `Arid Mesa` to get the least painful source that casts current hand and next-turn priorities; fetch basic `Mountain` when white is not needed and life matters, fetch `Sacred Foundry` when both colors are required, and fetch `Elegant Parlor` when tapped timing is acceptable.
- Keepable mana usually means two functional mana sources or one land plus active `Mox Opal` support. Mulligan one-land hands without `Mox Opal`, cheap artifacts, or `Faithless Looting`; be wary of hands where `Urza's Saga` is the only land and all colored spells are stranded.
- Play lands before draw or discard effects when landfall is irrelevant and the hand already knows it needs mana this turn. Hold the land until after `Faithless Looting`, `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun` exile access, or visible selection when land choice depends on new information, discard quality, or whether an exiled card must be played immediately.
- Use `Mox Opal` as burst mana before artifact count changes. Tap it before sacrificing Food, cracking hate artifacts, or letting `Urza's Saga` leave the battlefield if those changes could remove metalcraft; keep redundant artifacts on board when Opal mana or `Galvanic Blast` damage matters more than immediate sacrifice value.
2026-06-14 15:24:54 -03:00
## Mulligan Guide
- Strong keep: keep two functional mana sources with red, `The Underworld Cookbook`, `Ovalchase Daredevil` or `Faithless Looting`, and at least one payoff among `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, `Monument to Endurance`, `Urza's Saga`, `Mox Opal`, or `Galvanic Blast`. This hand has engine access, discard fuel, and either board control or pressure.
- Strong keep: keep `Urza's Saga` plus red source plus cheap artifact pressure when the hand includes `Mox Opal`, `The Underworld Cookbook`, `Relic of Progenitus`, or `Vexing Bauble`. Saga hands need colored follow-up because Saga sacrifices itself, but early artifact density makes Constructs and Opal real.
- Medium keep: keep red source, second land, `Faithless Looting`, and mixed payoffs even without `The Underworld Cookbook`. Looting can enable `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, stock the graveyard with `Ovalchase Daredevil`, and find Cookbook or `Urza's Saga`, but it is weaker against fast pressure if the hand lacks `Galvanic Blast` or Food.
- Medium keep: keep `The Underworld Cookbook` plus discardable material and interaction even without Asmo. Cookbook plus `Ovalchase Daredevil` is enough to generate artifacts and Food while drawing toward `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, `Monument to Endurance`, or Saga.
- Risky keep: keep one-land red hands only with `Faithless Looting` or multiple zero/one-mana artifacts and a realistic `Mox Opal` path. Ship one-land hands where `Urza's Saga` is the only land and the hand contains stranded colored cards.
- Automatic ship: mulligan no-land hands, hands with only colorless `Urza's Saga` and no castable artifact plan, hands with no red or white access plus multiple colored two-drops, and hands that contain only payoff cards with no discard outlet or early artifact deployment.
- Matchup-dependent keep: keep `Relic of Progenitus`, `Vexing Bauble`, `Drannith Magistrate`, `Pithing Needle`, `Wear // Tear`, `Prismatic Ending`, `Obsidian Charmaw`, or `Pyroclasm` hands only when the visible matchup or post-board context makes the hate card high-impact and the rest of the hand still develops mana and pressure.
- Play/draw adjustment: on the play, prioritize `The Underworld Cookbook`, `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, `Urza's Saga`, `Mox Opal`, and proactive pressure; on the draw, value `Galvanic Blast`, `Relic of Progenitus`, `Pyroclasm`, and stable two-land mana more highly because the opponent acts first.
- Trap hand: do not keep multiple `Ovalchase Daredevil` plus no discard outlet just because the card is recursive. Do not keep double `Mox Opal` without enough artifacts. Do not keep `Hardened Academic` as the main plan unless red and white mana are available; Card text check required before relying on it as a discard payoff.
2026-06-14 15:24:54 -03:00
## Turn Arc
- Turn 1: lead with a red source into `The Underworld Cookbook`, `Faithless Looting`, `Relic of Progenitus`, `Vexing Bauble`, or `Galvanic Blast` only when a target must die. Prefer Cookbook first when holding `Ovalchase Daredevil` or `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`; prefer `Urza's Saga` first only when colored mana is already covered or the hand is Saga-token focused.
- Turn 1 deviation: play `Elegant Parlor` tapped when no one-mana spell matters and future white is required. Shock or fetch untapped `Sacred Foundry` only when missing the current red spell or post-board white spell costs more tempo than the life.
- Turn 2: assemble the discard engine before spending flexible interaction. Cast or enable `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar` after a discard has happened, play `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun` before discard sequences when counters or exile access matter, and deploy `Mox Opal` when metalcraft is visible or immediately reachable.
- Turn 2 deviation: hold `Galvanic Blast` if no creature or planeswalker must die and artifact count can turn it into a larger damage spell later. Cast `Hardened Academic` only when the mana is clean and the visible card text supports the current discard plan.
- Turn 3: convert setup into material advantage. Prioritize `Monument to Endurance` before repeated discard if its visible text rewards discard triggers, activate `Urza's Saga` for a Construct when that produces the largest threat, or use Asmo plus two Foods to kill the creature that most threatens life total or engine survival.
- Turn 3 deviation: against fast boards, spend the turn stabilizing with `Galvanic Blast`, Asmo Food removal, `Pyroclasm`, or Food life instead of adding a slow payoff. Against combo or spell-heavy decks, keep `Vexing Bauble`, `Relic of Progenitus`, or `Drannith Magistrate` active when the visible line depends on it.
- Turns 4-5: chain discard, artifact entries, Saga Constructs, and burn into a closing posture. Use `The Underworld Cookbook` plus `Ovalchase Daredevil` to keep material flowing, spend `Mox Opal` before sacrificing artifacts, and let `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun` pressure planeswalkers or life totals when attacks are safe.
- Turns 4-5 deviation: when behind, stop maximizing engine value and answer the board. Sacrifice two Foods through `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, fire `Galvanic Blast`, or preserve blockers rather than making a larger Saga token if the visible attack would be lethal.
- Late game: identify the remaining win channel each turn. If Cookbook recursion is intact, grind with `Ovalchase Daredevil`; if Saga made large Constructs, force trades and protect artifact count; if the opponent is low, preserve `Galvanic Blast` reach and discard payoffs rather than cycling resources into low-impact actions.
2026-06-14 15:24:54 -03:00
## Card Roles
- `The Underworld Cookbook`: treat this as the cleanest engine starter because it turns spare cards into Food and enables `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`. Cast it early when the hand contains `Ovalchase Daredevil`, `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, `Monument to Endurance`, or cards that need discard events; hold activation only when the discarded card matters more in hand than the Food and trigger package. Use it before committing fragile payoffs if the immediate goal is to prove that a card was discarded this turn. Its sacrifice-recursion text should be used only when the visible graveyard creature is worth losing the Cookbook engine; do not cash it in casually while `Ovalchase Daredevil` loops are still producing material.
- `Ovalchase Daredevil`: use this as recursive discard fuel, not as a fair creature plan. Discard it to `The Underworld Cookbook`, `Faithless Looting`, `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, or other visible discard outlets when an artifact entry is available or likely soon. Prioritize returning it when Food, `Mox Opal`, `Relic of Progenitus`, `Vexing Bauble`, Construct tokens, or other artifacts enter under your control. Do not exile it with your own `Relic of Progenitus` unless graveyard control is more important than the engine, and do not keep hands where multiple copies have no discard outlet.
- `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`: use Asmo as the deck's stabilizing creature and Food-conversion payoff after a discard has occurred. Cast it when legal if it finds or leverages `The Underworld Cookbook`, turns existing Food into creature removal, or gives the board a must-answer engine body. Preserve two Food when an opposing creature threatens combat, combo, or planeswalker pressure; spend Food for life only when survival or racing math is more important than Asmo removal. Do not assume Asmo can answer noncreature permanents, and do not run it into visible removal when the hand can first deploy Cookbook or another artifact engine.
- `Faithless Looting`: cast this to find the engine and place `Ovalchase Daredevil` or excess cards in the graveyard. On early turns, prefer discarding `Ovalchase Daredevil`, redundant legends, extra lands beyond the current curve, or matchups where `Relic of Progenitus` is low-impact. Flashback is a late-game refuel tool when mana is spare and the hand is weak; avoid flashing it back if the graveyard must stay stocked for Daredevil recursion or if the life total demands board action instead. Against graveyard hate, treat Looting as card selection first and graveyard setup second.
2026-07-02 13:00:25 -03:00
- `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`: deploy Inti before attacks or discard sequences when the board can use counters, pressure, and temporary card access. Attack triggers can turn even low-toughness creatures into meaningful threats, but do not attack a required blocker just to trigger Inti under a short clock. The discard trigger can pair with `Ovalchase Daredevil`, `Monument to Endurance`, `Artist's Talent`, or `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`; Card text check required for exact interaction timing with newer discard payoffs. Play exiled cards only when legal and tempo-positive, and do not consume mana on a marginal exiled card if holding up Asmo Food removal, `Galvanic Blast`, or post-board named interaction is critical.
- `Monument to Endurance`: treat this as a major discard payoff only after the visible card text confirms the current trigger and damage/value mode. Card text check required. Prioritize casting it before repeated discard loops if it rewards discarding, cycling, or channeling; delay it when the opponent can punish a tapped-out turn and immediate removal is needed. Once active, sequence `The Underworld Cookbook`, `Faithless Looting`, `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, and `Sokenzan, Crucible of Defiance` around visible Monument triggers. Do not discard high-impact interaction merely to trigger Monument unless the expected output advances lethal, stabilization, or card advantage.
- `Hardened Academic`: use this only when its visible card text supports the active discard or artifact plan. Card text check required. Because the deck already has several engines, cast Academic when red-white mana is clean and the hand can immediately exploit its text, not as a blind curve filler. If Academic asks for a choice, target, or timing decision, prefer runtime legal-action output over assumed synergy. Against fast creature decks, do not prioritize Academic above `Galvanic Blast`, Asmo Food removal, or `Pyroclasm` unless its visible text directly stabilizes the board.
- `Artist's Talent`: treat this as a conditional engine enhancer, not guaranteed removal or card draw. Card text check required. Cast it when the visible text improves discard, noncreature spell sequencing, damage, or card flow and the hand contains enough follow-up spells to make the mana worthwhile. Avoid spending an early turn on Artist's Talent when `The Underworld Cookbook`, `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, or `Urza's Saga` development is more concrete. If level or mode choices appear, use the current board and legal actions rather than assuming a default upgrade path.
2026-07-02 13:00:25 -03:00
- `Mox Opal`: use this as acceleration once metalcraft is already active or can become active before mana is needed. Play it early when it enables `The Underworld Cookbook`, `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, `Monument to Endurance`, `Hardened Academic`, `Galvanic Blast`, or post-board named spells ahead of curve. Tap it before sacrificing Food, cracking `Relic of Progenitus`, using `Vexing Bauble`, or letting `Urza's Saga` leave the battlefield if those changes could disable metalcraft. Do not keep Opal-heavy hands without enough artifacts, and remember legendary copies can be awkward unless the extra artifact count or discard fodder matters.
- `Galvanic Blast`: use this as cheap interaction first and reach second. Kill creatures that threaten the engine, pressure life total, or invalidate attacks; hold it for four damage when artifact count is visible and the target matters. Do not point it at the opponent early unless it creates a clear race advantage or lethal setup, because the deck often needs early removal to survive. With `Urza's Saga`, Food, `Mox Opal`, `Relic of Progenitus`, `Vexing Bauble`, and Cookbook artifacts, check metalcraft before choosing targets and before sacrificing artifacts.
- `Relic of Progenitus`: use main-deck Relic as flexible graveyard pressure and artifact density. Deploy it early against graveyard-reliant opponents or when it enables `Mox Opal`, `Urza's Saga` Constructs, and metalcraft; delay or minimize activations when your own `Ovalchase Daredevil` graveyard loop is more valuable. Prefer the single-card exile mode when it pressures the opponent without sweeping your own graveyard. Use the full sacrifice mode when an opposing graveyard payoff is imminent, when drawing a card matters more than Daredevil recursion, or when artifact count loss is acceptable.
- `Vexing Bauble`: use this as a low-cost artifact and anti-free-spell tool when the matchup or visible action context makes it relevant. Card text check required for exact restriction and activation. Cast it early when it disrupts opposing nonmana-cost lines or improves `Mox Opal`, Constructs, and metalcraft. Do not sacrifice it for a card if its static text is actively constraining the opponent, unless the opponent has moved past that axis or the card draw is needed immediately.
- `Urza's Saga`: treat Saga as both threat and tutor package. Make Constructs when artifact count is high or the board needs pressure, and plan the Chapter III search around exact visible needs: `The Underworld Cookbook` for engine, `Relic of Progenitus` for graveyard control, `Vexing Bauble` for spell-axis disruption, or `Mox Opal` for mana if legal and useful. Do not rely on Saga as the only mana source for colored spells, because it sacrifices itself. Preserve artifacts before Construct sizing and lethal math.

- Fetch and shock lands: use `Arid Mesa`, `Bloodstained Mire`, `Wooded Foothills`, `Sacred Foundry`, `Elegant Parlor`, `Mountain`, and `Plains` to keep red available first, then white for `Hardened Academic` and post-board named cards. Fetch untapped only when the current spell or interaction matters; fetch tapped or basic when life total and sequencing allow. `Elegant Parlor` is a stabilizing tapped dual when tempo is not critical. `Sokenzan, Crucible of Defiance` is a land first, but its channel mode can become discard synergy or emergency board presence; Card text check required before relying on token details or trigger timing.
### Card Hover Notes
#### Bloodstained Mire
- Deck role: Main deck, 2 copies, mana resource and fetchland fixer.
- Role type: mana/fixing/ramp.
- Deck-specific job: Pays 1 life and sacrifices to find `Sacred Foundry`, `Elegant Parlor`, or `Mountain`; it cannot find `Plains` in this deck because it searches only for a Swamp or Mountain card.
- Timing: Crack when red mana is needed for `Faithless Looting`, `Galvanic Blast`, `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, or `Artist's Talent`; wait when life total matters and the next play is not known.
- Inputs / outputs: Consumes a land, 1 life, and a library shuffle; outputs an untapped or tapped Mountain-type land depending on the chosen target.
- Partners / packages: Finds red for `Faithless Looting`, `Galvanic Blast`, `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, `Artist's Talent`, `Pyroclasm`, and `Obsidian Charmaw`.
- Role peers: `Wooded Foothills` also finds Mountain cards; `Arid Mesa` finds Mountain or Plains cards.
- Failure modes: Fetching `Elegant Parlor` costs immediate tempo because it enters tapped; shocking `Sacred Foundry` too freely can make Food life gain defensive instead of optional.
- Matchup / visibility hooks: Against fast creature or burn pressure, prefer `Mountain` unless white is urgently needed.
#### Sacred Foundry
- Deck role: Main deck, 2 copies, red-white dual mana resource.
- Role type: mana/fixing/ramp.
- Deck-specific job: Supplies both primary red and secondary white while being searchable by `Bloodstained Mire`, `Wooded Foothills`, and `Arid Mesa` because it is a Mountain Plains.
- Timing: Pay 2 life when missing this turn's `Faithless Looting`, `Galvanic Blast`, `The Underworld Cookbook`, `Relic of Progenitus`, or white post-board named spell would cost more than the life.
- Inputs / outputs: Consumes a land drop or fetch target; outputs {R} or {W}, with a 2-life choice to enter untapped.
- Partners / packages: Casts `Hardened Academic`, `Drannith Magistrate`, `Prismatic Ending`, and the Tear half of `Wear // Tear`; also casts red cards such as `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun` and `Galvanic Blast`.
- Role peers: `Elegant Parlor` also provides {R}/{W} but always enters tapped and surveils 1; `Plains` provides only {W}; `Mountain` provides only {R}.
- Failure modes: Taking 2 damage for a non-urgent play can lose races; letting it enter tapped can strand one-mana interaction.
- Matchup / visibility hooks: Prioritize untapped against combo or fast starts; preserve life against burn-style pressure when `Mountain` covers the turn.
#### Relic of Progenitus
- Deck role: Main deck 2 copies and sideboard 2 copies, graveyard hate artifact and artifact-count role player.
- Role type: hate piece; engine fuel/material; card selection.
- Deck-specific job: Pressures opposing graveyards while counting for `Mox Opal`, `Urza's Saga` Constructs, and `Galvanic Blast` metalcraft; it conflicts with your own `Ovalchase Daredevil` and `Faithless Looting` graveyard value.
- Timing: Use the tap ability when one opposing graveyard card matters and your own graveyard should stay intact; sacrifice only when clearing all graveyards or drawing is worth losing the artifact.
- Inputs / outputs: Tap mode consumes a tap and targets a player; that player chooses and exiles a card from their graveyard; sacrifice mode costs {1}, exiles Relic, exiles all graveyards, and draws a card.
- Mode map: `{T}` targets a player, and that player exiles a card from their graveyard; `{1}, exile Relic` clears all graveyards and draws one card.
- Partners / packages: Supports `Mox Opal`, `Urza's Saga`, `Galvanic Blast`; can hurt `Ovalchase Daredevil` and `Faithless Looting`.
- Role peers: `Drannith Magistrate` stops casting from non-hand zones but does not exile graveyards; `Vexing Bauble` attacks no-mana casting instead.
- Failure modes: Full exile can remove your `Ovalchase Daredevil`; tap mode gives the targeted player the card choice.
- Matchup / visibility hooks: Bring extra copies against recursion, escape, delve, reanimation, delirium, and graveyard combo.
#### Faithless Looting
- Deck role: Main deck, 2 copies, red card-selection and discard enabler.
- Role type: card selection; discard outlet; mechanic enabler.
- Deck-specific job: Draws two then discards two to enable `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, stock `Ovalchase Daredevil`, and trigger `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, `Artist's Talent`, and `Monument to Endurance`.
- Timing: Cast early when missing Cookbook, mana, or a discard event; flash back late for {2}{R} when hand quality is low and graveyard resources are expendable.
- Inputs / outputs: Costs {R} from hand or {2}{R} from graveyard; produces two cards drawn, two cards discarded, and exiles itself after flashback resolves.
- Mode map: Hand-cast uses {R} as a sorcery; flashback casts it from graveyard for {2}{R}, then exiles it.
- Partners / packages: Best discards are `Ovalchase Daredevil`, redundant `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, redundant `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, or extra lands after drops are secured.
- Role peers: `The Underworld Cookbook` discards one for Food repeatedly; `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun` discards on attack and gives temporary exile access.
- Failure modes: Draw-then-discard means it does not put a discarded card in the graveyard before the two draws happen; graveyard hate can remove flashback and Daredevil value.
- Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong in grindy games; risky against graveyard hate or when the board needs immediate removal.
#### Wooded Foothills
- Deck role: Main deck, 2 copies, mana resource and fetchland fixer.
- Role type: mana/fixing/ramp.
- Deck-specific job: Pays 1 life and sacrifices to find `Sacred Foundry`, `Elegant Parlor`, or `Mountain`; it cannot find `Plains` because the deck has no Forest and the card searches for Mountain or Forest.
- Timing: Fetch before casting red spells that must happen now; delay when `Faithless Looting` or surveil from `Elegant Parlor` may change what color or land speed is needed.
- Inputs / outputs: Consumes 1 life and itself; outputs a Mountain-type land onto the battlefield.
- Partners / packages: Finds red for `Faithless Looting`, `Galvanic Blast`, `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, `Artist's Talent`, `Pyroclasm`, and `Obsidian Charmaw`.
- Role peers: `Bloodstained Mire` also finds Mountain cards; `Arid Mesa` is better when basic `Plains` is needed.
- Failure modes: Cannot produce white by finding `Plains`; choosing `Elegant Parlor` means the mana is delayed because it enters tapped.
- Matchup / visibility hooks: Against fast pressure, basic `Mountain` protects life; against sideboard white cards, `Sacred Foundry` may be necessary.
#### Mountain
- Deck role: Main deck, 2 copies, basic red mana resource.
- Role type: mana/fixing/ramp.
- Deck-specific job: Provides painless red for the deck's primary color and is searchable by `Bloodstained Mire`, `Wooded Foothills`, and `Arid Mesa`.
- Timing: Fetch early when white is not needed and life total matters; keep red open for `Galvanic Blast` when a creature or planeswalker can decide the next turn cycle.
- Inputs / outputs: Uses a land drop or fetch target; outputs {R}.
- Partners / packages: Casts `Faithless Looting`, `Galvanic Blast`, `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, `Artist's Talent`, `Pyroclasm`, and contributes red to `Obsidian Charmaw`.
- Role peers: `Sacred Foundry` and `Elegant Parlor` add white access but have life or tapped-tempo costs; `Sokenzan, Crucible of Defiance` is also red but legendary and has channel.
- Failure modes: Does not cast `Hardened Academic`, `Drannith Magistrate`, `Prismatic Ending`, or Tear from `Wear // Tear` without another white source.
- Matchup / visibility hooks: Best fetch target against burn or aggro when white post-board named cards are not immediately required.
#### Plains
- Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, basic white mana resource.
- Role type: mana/fixing/ramp.
- Deck-specific job: Provides painless white for `Hardened Academic` and post-board named interaction while being searchable only by `Arid Mesa` among the listed fetchlands.
- Timing: Fetch when white is required and red is already covered; avoid making it the first land if the hand needs turn-one `Faithless Looting`, `Galvanic Blast`, or red two-drops.
- Inputs / outputs: Uses a land drop or `Arid Mesa` search; outputs {W}.
- Partners / packages: Casts `Hardened Academic`, `Drannith Magistrate`, `Prismatic Ending`, and Tear from `Wear // Tear`.
- Role peers: `Sacred Foundry` and `Elegant Parlor` provide both colors; `Mountain` provides the more important early red.
- Failure modes: Strands red cards if it is the only colored source; cannot be found by `Bloodstained Mire` or `Wooded Foothills`.
- Matchup / visibility hooks: More important after sideboard when `Drannith Magistrate`, `Prismatic Ending`, and `Wear // Tear` are in the deck.
#### Ovalchase Daredevil
- Deck role: Main deck, 4 copies, recursive discard-fuel core piece.
- Role type: recursion; engine fuel/material; discard outlet partner.
- Deck-specific job: Lives best in the graveyard, returning to hand whenever an artifact you control enters, so it repeatedly feeds `The Underworld Cookbook`, `Faithless Looting`, `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, `Artist's Talent`, and `Monument to Endurance`.
- Timing: Discard it early when an artifact entry is available or likely; hard-cast the 4/2 only when recursion is shut off or a body is needed.
- Inputs / outputs: Consumes discard slots or {3}{B} if hard-cast; outputs repeatable hand material after your artifacts enter.
- Partners / packages: Returns from Food tokens made by `The Underworld Cookbook`, artifacts from `Mox Opal`, `Relic of Progenitus`, `Vexing Bauble`, Construct tokens from `Urza's Saga`, and Cookbook itself.
- Role peers: No direct peer; closest role overlap is `Faithless Looting` as graveyard setup and `The Underworld Cookbook` as the repeatable discard outlet.
- Failure modes: Your own `Relic of Progenitus` can exile it; without discard outlets it is an expensive off-color creature.
- Matchup / visibility hooks: Excellent against removal-heavy decks; weaker when opposing graveyard hate is visible.
#### Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar
- Deck role: Main deck, 4 copies, core engine creature, Cookbook tutor, and Food removal payoff.
- Role type: mechanic payoff; tutor/search; interaction-removal; threat/clock.
- Deck-specific job: After you discarded a card this turn, it can be cast for {B/R}, finds `The Underworld Cookbook`, and turns two Foods into creature removal by making target creature deal 6 damage to itself.
- Timing: Cast after `Faithless Looting`, `The Underworld Cookbook`, `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, `Artist's Talent`, `Monument to Endurance`, or `Sokenzan, Crucible of Defiance` channel creates a discard this turn.
- Inputs / outputs: Consumes a discard condition and {B/R}; outputs a 3/3, a possible Cookbook search, and a Food sink for creature control.
- Mode map: Cast access requires a discard this turn; enter trigger may search for `The Underworld Cookbook`; activated removal sacrifices two Foods and targets a creature.
- Partners / packages: Searches `The Underworld Cookbook`; spends Foods from Cookbook; stabilizes while `Urza's Saga` Constructs and `Galvanic Blast` pressure life totals.
- Role peers: `Galvanic Blast` also removes creatures but hits any target; `Prismatic Ending` exiles cheap nonland permanents post-board.
- Failure modes: Cannot answer noncreature permanents; spending Foods can turn off life gain, metalcraft, and Construct size.
- Matchup / visibility hooks: Prioritize against creature decks and single large threats; protect two Foods when an opposing creature threatens lethal.
#### The Underworld Cookbook
- Deck role: Main deck, 4 copies, core discard-Food engine.
- Role type: engine piece; discard outlet; mechanic enabler; recursion.
- Deck-specific job: Turns spare cards, especially `Ovalchase Daredevil`, into Food artifacts that enable `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, `Mox Opal`, `Urza's Saga` Constructs, and `Galvanic Blast` metalcraft.
- Timing: Cast early before payoff creatures when the hand needs a discard event or repeatable artifacts; sacrifice it for graveyard recursion only when the target creature is worth losing the engine.
- Inputs / outputs: First ability taps and discards a card to create a Food; second ability costs {4}, taps, and sacrifices Cookbook to return target creature card from your graveyard to your hand.
- Mode map: Food mode fuels discard and artifacts; recursion mode buys back `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, `Hardened Academic`, `Ovalchase Daredevil`, `Drannith Magistrate`, or `Obsidian Charmaw`.
- Partners / packages: Best with `Ovalchase Daredevil`, `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, `Monument to Endurance`, `Artist's Talent`, and `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`.
- Role peers: `Faithless Looting` discards once or twice via flashback; `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun` discards through attacks.
- Failure modes: Tapping too early can leave no Food production for Asmo lines; sacrificing it can collapse the Daredevil loop.
- Matchup / visibility hooks: Strongest against attrition and creature decks; vulnerable to graveyard hate.
#### Arid Mesa
- Deck role: Main deck, 4 copies, primary fetchland fixer.
- Role type: mana/fixing/ramp.
- Deck-specific job: Finds `Sacred Foundry`, `Elegant Parlor`, `Mountain`, or `Plains`, making it the broadest fetchland in this registered mana base.
- Timing: Use early to secure red plus possible white; delay when a later `Faithless Looting` or `Elegant Parlor` surveil decision may change the best target.
- Inputs / outputs: Pays 1 life, taps, sacrifices itself, and puts a Mountain or Plains card onto the battlefield.
- Partners / packages: Casts red cards through `Mountain`, `Sacred Foundry`, or `Elegant Parlor`; casts white cards through `Plains`, `Sacred Foundry`, or `Elegant Parlor`.
- Role peers: `Bloodstained Mire` and `Wooded Foothills` find Mountain cards but not `Plains`.
- Failure modes: Fetching `Plains` too early can strand red-heavy hands; fetching shocked `Sacred Foundry` can make races harder.
- Matchup / visibility hooks: Best land for post-board hands with `Prismatic Ending`, `Drannith Magistrate`, or `Wear // Tear` because it can get white without losing red access permanently.
#### Urza's Saga
- Deck role: Main deck, 4 copies, temporary mana land, Construct threat, and artifact tutor core piece.
- Role type: engine piece; threat/clock; tutor/search; mana/fixing/ramp.
- Deck-specific job: Adds colorless mana, makes Constructs that scale with artifacts, then finds a mana value 0 or 1 artifact directly onto the battlefield.
- Timing: Play early when colored mana is covered; make Constructs before chapter III when pressure or blocking matters; plan for losing the land after the third chapter.
- Inputs / outputs: Produces {C} after chapter I, spends {2} and tap for Constructs after chapter II, then sacrifices after chapter III search.
- Mode map: Chapter I grants {T}: add {C}; chapter II grants Construct creation; chapter III can find `Mox Opal`, `The Underworld Cookbook`, `Relic of Progenitus`, `Vexing Bauble`, or `Pithing Needle` after sideboard.
- Partners / packages: Constructs grow from Food, `Mox Opal`, `Relic of Progenitus`, `Vexing Bauble`, `The Underworld Cookbook`, and artifact tokens.
- Role peers: No direct peer; closest role overlap is `Mox Opal` for artifact mana and `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar` for Cookbook access.
- Failure modes: Cannot cast colored spells by itself; sacrificing itself can reduce mana and artifact timing options.
- Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong against control and midrange; tutor hate artifacts only when their text is live.
#### Sokenzan, Crucible of Defiance
- Deck role: Main deck, 1 copy, legendary red land and channel flex slot.
- Role type: mana/fixing/ramp; modal utility; engine fuel/material; threat/clock.
- Deck-specific job: Usually taps for red, but channel can discard it for two hasty 1/1 colorless Spirit creature tokens, with cost reduced by each legendary creature you control.
- Timing: Keep as a land when red mana is needed; channel when extra attackers, blockers, or a discard event outweighs losing the land.
- Inputs / outputs: Land mode outputs {R}; channel costs {3}{R} and discards Sokenzan, reduced by `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar` or `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, to create two hasty Spirits.
- Mode map: Mana aspect is a normal red land; channel aspect is a discard-based token burst from hand.
- Partners / packages: Channel triggers `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, `Artist's Talent`, and `Monument to Endurance`; legendary cost reduction comes from `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, and `Mox Opal` is legendary but not a creature.
- Role peers: `Mountain` is the simpler red land; `Urza's Saga` is the stronger land threat.
- Failure modes: Channeling too early can miss land drops; tokens are not artifacts and do not enable metalcraft.
- Matchup / visibility hooks: Useful against control sweepers or planeswalkers; keep as mana against fast starts.
#### Inti, Seneschal of the Sun
- Deck role: Main deck, 4 copies, discard payoff creature and combat-pressure core piece.
- Role type: mechanic enabler; mechanic payoff; threat/clock; card selection.
- Deck-specific job: Turns attacks into optional discard, +1/+1 counter, and trample for a target attacking creature, and turns any discard into temporary top-card access until your next end step.
- Timing: Deploy before attacks when a safe attacker exists; avoid attacking a needed blocker just to trigger Inti under lethal pressure.
- Inputs / outputs: Costs {1}{R}; attack trigger may discard one card, then grants a counter and trample; discard trigger exiles the top card and lets you play it until your next end step.
- Partners / packages: Discards `Ovalchase Daredevil`, excess lands, redundant `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, or redundant `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`; benefits attackers such as Saga Constructs, `Hardened Academic`, `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, and Sokenzan tokens.
- Role peers: `Faithless Looting` and `The Underworld Cookbook` also create discard events; `Monument to Endurance` also rewards discard.
- Failure modes: Exiled cards expire at your next end step; attacking Inti into bad combat can lose the engine.
- Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong versus midrange and control; be conservative versus aggro when Inti must block.
#### Elegant Parlor
- Deck role: Main deck, 2 copies, tapped red-white dual and surveil land.
- Role type: mana/fixing/ramp; card selection.
- Deck-specific job: Provides both colors while surveil 1 can bin `Ovalchase Daredevil`, flashback `Faithless Looting`, or unwanted cards, but it always enters tapped.
- Timing: Play turn one when no one-mana spell is urgent; avoid when the hand must cast `The Underworld Cookbook`, `Faithless Looting`, `Relic of Progenitus`, `Vexing Bauble`, or `Galvanic Blast` immediately.
- Inputs / outputs: Uses a land drop or fetch target; outputs delayed {R}/{W} and one surveil look, with the option to put the top card into the graveyard.
- Partners / packages: Fetchable by `Bloodstained Mire`, `Wooded Foothills`, and `Arid Mesa`; fixes for `Hardened Academic`, `Drannith Magistrate`, `Prismatic Ending`, and red engine cards.
- Role peers: `Sacred Foundry` can enter untapped for 2 life; `Mountain` and `Plains` are painless basics.
- Failure modes: Tapped entry can miss interaction windows; surveilling away a needed land or payoff can strand the hand.
- Matchup / visibility hooks: Better in slower games; riskier against fast creature starts and combo turns.
#### Vexing Bauble
- Deck role: Main deck 2 copies and sideboard 2 copies, anti-free-spell artifact and Saga-searchable role player.
- Role type: hate piece; engine fuel/material; card selection.
- Deck-specific job: Counters spells cast with no mana spent while adding artifact count for `Mox Opal`, `Urza's Saga`, and `Galvanic Blast`; can later cash itself in for a card.
- Timing: Cast before cascade, suspend, pitch, zero-mana, or other no-mana-paid turns; sacrifice only when the static text is no longer constraining the opponent.
- Inputs / outputs: Costs {1}; static trigger counters any player's no-mana-spent spell; activated ability costs {1}, taps, sacrifices Bauble, and draws a card.
- Mode map: Static hate stays on board; draw mode trades the artifact and {1} for one card.
- Partners / packages: Searchable by `Urza's Saga`; supports `Mox Opal`, `Galvanic Blast`, and Constructs.
- Role peers: `Drannith Magistrate` stops opponents casting from non-hand zones; `Relic of Progenitus` attacks graveyard resources instead.
- Failure modes: Can counter your own no-mana-spent spells if such a line appears; sacrificing it can turn off metalcraft or hate at the wrong moment.
- Matchup / visibility hooks: Bring extra copies against cascade, pitch-spell, suspend, and zero-mana strategies; low-impact against fair decks paying normal costs.
#### Artist's Talent
- Deck role: Main deck, 2 copies, Class enchantment discard/filter and damage-scaling flex engine.
- Role type: engine piece; discard outlet; card selection; reach/finisher.
- Deck-specific job: Lets noncreature spells become optional discard-draw events, later reduces your noncreature spell costs, and at level 3 adds 2 to noncombat damage from your sources to opponents or their permanents.
- Timing: Cast when follow-up noncreature spells are available; level up only as a sorcery when spending {2}{R} does not delay removal, Saga pressure, or Cookbook setup.
- Inputs / outputs: Costs {1}{R}; noncreature spells can consume a card from hand to draw; level 2 costs {2}{R} and discounts noncreature spells by {1}; level 3 costs {2}{R} and increases qualifying noncombat damage.
- Mode map: Level 1 filters on noncreature casts; Level 2 discounts `Faithless Looting`, `Galvanic Blast`, `The Underworld Cookbook`, `Relic of Progenitus`, `Vexing Bauble`, `Monument to Endurance`, `Pyroclasm`, `Prismatic Ending`, and `Wear // Tear`; Level 3 boosts `Galvanic Blast`, `Pyroclasm`, and Asmo Food damage to opponent permanents.
- Partners / packages: Discards `Ovalchase Daredevil`; amplifies `Galvanic Blast`, `Pyroclasm`, and `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar` removal damage.
- Role peers: `Monument to Endurance` also rewards discard; `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun` also turns discard into card access.
- Failure modes: Spending mana to level can lose tempo; Level 3 does not increase combat damage.
- Matchup / visibility hooks: Better in grindy or removal-heavy games than against fast pressure.
#### Monument to Endurance
- Deck role: Main deck, 4 copies, major discard payoff artifact.
- Role type: engine payoff; card selection; reach/finisher; engine fuel/material.
- Deck-specific job: Each discard can choose one unused mode that turn: draw a card, create a Treasure, or make each opponent lose 3 life, turning Cookbook, Looting, Inti, Artist's Talent, Hardened Academic, and Sokenzan channel into material or damage.
- Timing: Cast before repeated discard turns when safe; delay when three mana must hold up `Galvanic Blast`, Asmo Food removal, or post-board named interaction.
- Inputs / outputs: Costs {3}; consumes discard events; outputs one chosen mode per turn from card, Treasure artifact, or opponent life loss.
- Mode map: Draw mode refuels; Treasure mode accelerates and adds artifact count; each-opponent-loses-3 mode closes games without targeting.
- Partners / packages: Best with `The Underworld Cookbook` plus `Ovalchase Daredevil`, `Faithless Looting`, `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, `Artist's Talent`, `Hardened Academic`, and `Sokenzan, Crucible of Defiance`.
- Role peers: `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun` gives temporary card access from discard; `Artist's Talent` filters on noncreature spells.
- Failure modes: Only one of each mode can be chosen each turn; discard without spare cards can damage hand quality.
- Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong versus midrange/control; too slow if low-toughness creatures demand immediate `Pyroclasm` or `Galvanic Blast`.
#### Hardened Academic
- Deck role: Main deck, 4 copies, red-white evasive threat and graveyard-leave payoff.
- Role type: threat/clock; lifegain/stabilization; mechanic payoff.
- Deck-specific job: Attacks immediately with flying and haste, can discard cards for lifelink, and grows a target creature you control whenever one or more cards leave your graveyard.
- Timing: Cast when {R}{W} is available and either flying pressure, lifelink racing, or graveyard-leave triggers matter; do not run it out ahead of needed removal against fast boards.
- Inputs / outputs: Costs {R}{W}; discard ability consumes cards for lifelink; graveyard-leave trigger outputs +1/+1 counters.
- Partners / packages: Grows from `Ovalchase Daredevil` returning to hand, `Relic of Progenitus` exiling cards, and flashback `Faithless Looting` leaving the graveyard; discard ability can trigger `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun` and `Monument to Endurance`.
- Role peers: `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun` is another two-mana creature discard payoff; Saga Constructs are larger artifact-based attackers.
- Failure modes: Needs both red and white; discarding key cards for lifelink can strand engine pieces.
- Matchup / visibility hooks: Strong for racing flyers or stabilizing with lifelink; vulnerable to `Pyroclasm` because it has 1 toughness before counters.
#### Mox Opal
- Deck role: Main deck, 4 copies, legendary zero-mana artifact acceleration.
- Role type: mana/fixing/ramp; engine fuel/material.
- Deck-specific job: Enables explosive turns once metalcraft is active, while also counting as an artifact for `Urza's Saga` Constructs and `Galvanic Blast`.
- Timing: Deploy early for artifact count, but rely on its mana only when you control three or more artifacts; tap before sacrificing Food, `Relic of Progenitus`, or `Vexing Bauble`.
- Inputs / outputs: Costs {0}; with metalcraft, taps for one mana of any color.
- Partners / packages: Enabled by `The Underworld Cookbook`, Food tokens, `Relic of Progenitus`, `Vexing Bauble`, `Monument to Endurance`, `Urza's Saga` Constructs, and Treasure from `Monument to Endurance`.
- Role peers: Lands provide stable mana; `Urza's Saga` provides temporary {C} and artifact tutoring.
- Failure modes: Legendary duplicates are awkward; without three artifacts it produces no mana.
- Matchup / visibility hooks: Best in fast engine hands and Saga starts; weaker in artifact-hate games where the battlefield is being cleared.
#### Galvanic Blast
- Deck role: Main deck, 4 copies, cheap red removal and reach.
- Role type: interaction-removal; reach/finisher.
- Deck-specific job: Deals 2 damage to any target, or 4 instead with metalcraft, letting the deck answer creatures/planeswalkers or finish opponents once artifact count is stable.
- Timing: Spend on creatures that threaten the engine or lethal; aim at opponent only for lethal, a forced two-turn clock, or when no board target matters.
- Inputs / outputs: Costs {R}; consumes a card and instant-speed mana; outputs 2 or 4 damage depending on whether you control three or more artifacts.
- Partners / packages: Metalcraft from `The Underworld Cookbook`, Food, `Mox Opal`, `Relic of Progenitus`, `Vexing Bauble`, `Monument to Endurance`, Treasure, and Saga Constructs.
- Role peers: `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar` handles creatures with Food; `Prismatic Ending` exiles cheap nonland permanents post-board; `Pyroclasm` sweeps low-toughness creatures.
- Failure modes: Sacrificing artifacts before casting can reduce damage from 4 to 2; face damage too early can leave a must-kill creature alive.
- Matchup / visibility hooks: Premium against creature combo and tempo threats; becomes reach against control or stabilized midrange boards.
#### Pithing Needle
- Deck role: Sideboard, 1 copy, narrow activated-ability hate artifact and Saga target.
- Role type: hate piece; post-board named bullet; tutor/search target.
- Deck-specific job: Names a card as it enters and shuts off activated abilities of sources with that name unless they are mana abilities.
- Timing: Bring in only when a visible or matchup-known activated ability matters; choose the name from public information, revealed cards, or a certain opposing engine.
- Inputs / outputs: Costs {1}; consumes a card and name choice; outputs static suppression of non-mana activated abilities from the named source.
- Partners / packages: Searchable by `Urza's Saga`; contributes to `Mox Opal`, `Galvanic Blast`, and Construct size.
- Role peers: `Vexing Bauble` stops no-mana-spent spells; `Drannith Magistrate` stops opponent non-hand casting; `Relic of Progenitus` attacks graveyards.
- Failure modes: Does not stop triggered abilities, static abilities, or mana abilities; blind names can miss completely.
- Matchup / visibility hooks: Use against planeswalkers, equipment, artifact engines, land abilities that are not mana abilities, or creature abilities when the named source is known.
#### Wear // Tear
- Deck role: Sideboard, 2 copies, artifact/enchantment interaction split card.
- Role type: interaction-removal; post-board named bullet; tempo utility.
- Deck-specific job: Answers artifact or enchantment permanents that interfere with Food, Saga pressure, graveyard recursion, mana, or combat.
- Timing: Hold for a permanent that changes the next turn cycle; do not spend it on a low-impact target if `Prismatic Ending` or combat can handle the issue.
- Inputs / outputs: Wear face costs {1}{R}; Tear face costs {W}; exact Oracle text for each face is missing from the provided Card Reference, so target and fuse details must follow the rules engine.
- Mode map: Wear is the red instant face for artifact/enchantment-style sideboard coverage as exposed by the engine; Tear is the white instant face for artifact/enchantment-style sideboard coverage as exposed by the engine.
- Partners / packages: Complements `Prismatic Ending` against cheap nonland permanents and `Pithing Needle` against activated artifact engines.
- Role peers: `Prismatic Ending` exiles cheap nonland permanents at sorcery speed; `Galvanic Blast` only damages targets.
- Failure modes: Failure modes depend on missing reference metadata: exact target class and fused casting availability are not specified here, so avoid text-sensitive claims unless Forge exposes the legal mode.
- Matchup / visibility hooks: Bring against artifact decks, enchantment engines, hate permanents, and prison pieces that stop `The Underworld Cookbook`, `Urza's Saga`, or graveyard recursion.
#### Drannith Magistrate
- Deck role: Sideboard, 2 copies, white lock creature.
- Role type: hate piece; post-board named bullet.
- Deck-specific job: Prevents opponents from casting spells from anywhere other than their hands, attacking cascade, suspend, graveyard-cast, exile-cast, and similar non-hand casting plans.
- Timing: Cast before the opponent's critical non-hand-cast turn; do not bring in as a generic 1/3 unless its static ability is relevant.
- Inputs / outputs: Costs {1}{W}; outputs a 1/3 body and opponent-only casting restriction.
- Partners / packages: Pairs with `Vexing Bauble` against no-mana or cascade-like turns; `Pithing Needle` covers activated engines Drannith does not stop.
- Role peers: `Vexing Bauble` counters spells cast with no mana spent; Drannith stops opponent casts from non-hand zones even if mana would be paid.
- Failure modes: Does not stop abilities or spells cast from hand; dies to common creature removal and can be swept by your own `Pyroclasm` because it has 3 toughness and survives 2 damage unless already damaged.
- Matchup / visibility hooks: Bring against cascade, suspend, graveyard casting, exile casting, and command-zone-like casting patterns if visible in the rules environment.
#### Prismatic Ending
- Deck role: Sideboard, 2 copies, flexible sorcery-speed low-mana permanent removal.
- Role type: interaction-removal; post-board named bullet.
- Deck-specific job: Exiles target nonland permanent if its mana value is less than or equal to the number of colors of mana spent to cast it; this deck naturally supports red and white, with other colors only if `Mox Opal` can legally produce them.
- Timing: Use on cheap hate, engines, or creatures before combat when sorcery speed matters; do not hold it for a larger target the mana colors cannot cover.
- Inputs / outputs: Costs {X}{W}; consumes colored mana diversity through converge; outputs exile on a legal nonland permanent.
- Partners / packages: White from `Sacred Foundry`, `Elegant Parlor`, or `Plains`; red-white plus active `Mox Opal` can increase color count if the engine offers legal payment.
- Role peers: `Wear // Tear` handles artifact/enchantment targets at instant speed as exposed by Forge; `Galvanic Blast` damages any target; Asmo removes creatures.
- Failure modes: Sorcery speed cannot answer a spell on the stack or surprise combat action; low color count caps exilable mana value.
- Matchup / visibility hooks: Bring against cheap hate permanents, low-cost creatures, small artifact/enchantment engines, and permanents that dodge damage.
#### Obsidian Charmaw
- Deck role: Sideboard, 2 copies, nonbasic-land punishment threat.
- Role type: post-board named bullet; interaction-removal; threat/clock.
- Deck-specific job: Costs {1} less for each land opponents control that could produce {C}, flies, and destroys target nonbasic land an opponent controls when it enters.
- Timing: Bring in when the opponent has important nonbasic lands or colorless-producing lands; cast when destroying a land delays their next decisive turn and leaves a 4/4 flyer relevant.
- Inputs / outputs: Base cost {3}{R}{R}, reduced by opposing lands that could produce {C}; outputs a 4/4 flyer and nonbasic land destruction.
- Partners / packages: Red sources from `Mountain`, `Sacred Foundry`, `Elegant Parlor`, `Sokenzan, Crucible of Defiance`, fetchlands, and active `Mox Opal`; pressure pairs with `Urza's Saga` Constructs and `Galvanic Blast`.
- Role peers: `Pithing Needle` can stop known non-mana land abilities but does not destroy lands; `Vexing Bauble` attacks no-mana spells from big-mana decks.
- Failure modes: Poor against basic-heavy decks; double red can be hard if mana is disrupted.
- Matchup / visibility hooks: Bring against big mana, greedy mana, and land engines where one nonbasic land is a real bottleneck.
#### Pyroclasm
- Deck role: Sideboard, 2 copies, small-creature sweeper.
- Role type: interaction-sweeper; post-board named bullet.
- Deck-specific job: Deals 2 damage to each creature, buying time against wide boards while artifacts, Food, `Urza's Saga`, and `Monument to Endurance` remain intact.
- Timing: Cast before combat when it kills multiple opposing creatures or prevents lethal; delay if your own `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, `Hardened Academic`, `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, `Ovalchase Daredevil`, or `Drannith Magistrate` is more important than the opposing creatures it kills or damages.
- Inputs / outputs: Costs {1}{R}; outputs 2 damage marked on every creature, not a power/toughness reduction.
- Partners / packages: Complements `Galvanic Blast` for larger survivors and Asmo Food removal for high-toughness threats.
- Role peers: `Galvanic Blast` is single-target instant damage; `Prismatic Ending` exiles one cheap nonland permanent; `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar` removes one creature with two Foods.
- Failure modes: Kills or damages your own low-toughness creatures; does not answer large creatures, planeswalkers, artifacts, or enchantments.
- Matchup / visibility hooks: Bring against go-wide aggro, tokens, and small utility creature decks; avoid against large-creature or combo decks with few bodies.

## Interaction Priorities
2026-07-02 13:00:25 -03:00
- Kill engine breakers first with `Galvanic Blast` or Food sacrifice damage from `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar` plus `The Underworld Cookbook`. Prioritize creatures that shut off artifacts, prevent graveyard recursion, race through Construct blockers, or remove `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, `Monument to Endurance`, or `Urza's Saga` before they convert named resources into cards, mana, damage, or tempo.
- Preserve `Galvanic Blast` for board control unless four damage to the opponent creates immediate lethal or a two-turn forced clock. Check visible artifact count before choosing targets; losing Food, `Relic of Progenitus`, `Vexing Bauble`, `Mox Opal`, or an expiring `Urza's Saga` can shrink Blast from four damage to two. Against creature combo, spend Blast early on the enabling creature rather than waiting for face damage.
- Use Asmo Food removal on high-toughness or must-answer creatures that `Galvanic Blast` cannot cleanly handle. Sacrifice Food only after checking whether the Food is needed for another Asmo activation, `Mox Opal` metalcraft, Construct size, or survival life gain. If multiple Foods are available, keep enough artifacts on board for metalcraft and Saga math unless the target threatens lethal or engine collapse.
- Exile graveyards with `Relic of Progenitus` when the opponent's next visible action depends on graveyard quantity, named cards, escape-like costs, reanimation, delirium, or recursive threats. Prefer single-card exile when it meaningfully disrupts the opponent while preserving your `Ovalchase Daredevil` loop. Use the full sacrifice mode when the opposing graveyard payoff is imminent, when drawing a card is worth breaking your own recursion, or when artifact count loss does not compromise `Mox Opal`, `Galvanic Blast`, or Constructs.
- Deploy `Vexing Bauble` before the opponent's free-spell turn when its visible text is relevant; Card text check required for exact restriction and activation. Treat Bauble as interaction plus artifact density, not a random cantrip, while it is constraining the opponent. Sacrifice it for a card only when the matchup no longer cares about the static text, when digging for lethal or removal is urgent, or when metalcraft and Construct sizing remain acceptable afterward.
- Bait opposing removal with redundant artifacts or value creatures before exposing the key engine when the hand permits it. `The Underworld Cookbook`, `Urza's Saga`, and `Mox Opal` often force answers without risking `Monument to Endurance` or `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`; however, do not slow-roll `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar` if immediate Food removal is needed to survive.
- Ignore low-impact creatures when they neither pressure life total nor interfere with the artifact-discard engine. Spend removal on threats that change combat math, invalidate Constructs, or enable combo. Against control, prioritize protecting recurring engines and Saga pressure over killing small utility bodies unless they attack planeswalker-like resources or block a lethal Construct line.
2026-06-14 15:24:54 -03:00
## Combat And Trading Rules
- Attack with Constructs when the artifact count creates a favorable race or forces blocks that protect the engine. Count Food, `The Underworld Cookbook`, `Relic of Progenitus`, `Vexing Bauble`, `Mox Opal`, and other artifacts before declaring attacks, and re-check whether sacrifices before damage would shrink Constructs into bad trades. Preserve artifact bodies and tokens when they are the best route to lethal.
- Keep `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar` out of unnecessary combat when Food removal is the stabilizing plan. Trade Asmo only if the opponent's creature is more important than future Food activations, if Asmo is otherwise about to die, or if the attack/block prevents lethal. Do not attack Asmo into open blockers just because damage is available.
- Use `Ovalchase Daredevil` as repeatable discard fuel first and combat material second. Trade it aggressively only when recursion is active or the blocker exchange buys a decisive turn. If graveyard exile is likely from your own `Relic of Progenitus`, treat Daredevil as less renewable and avoid casual trades unless board pressure demands them.
- Attack with `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun` only when the trigger, counter, or pressure is worth risking the body; Card text check required for exact trigger timing. Do not send Inti into a trade while behind if it is enabling discard payoffs, exiled-card access, or future threat growth. Under a short clock, keep Inti back if blocking protects enough life for an Asmo or Pyroclasm turn.
- Block early against aggro when life total falls below the range where fetch-shock lands and delayed Food life gain can safely recover. Preserve creatures against control and combo when damage output matters more than life total, but trade with must-answer attackers when the opponent's clock beats `Urza's Saga` or `Monument to Endurance` setup.
- Value Food life gain only after checking removal needs. Sacrificing Food for life can be correct near lethal thresholds, against burn-style pressure, or when extra Food is available, but keep Food for Asmo removal when a creature on board is the real source of damage. Do not gain life preemptively if doing so turns off a necessary Food removal line.
2026-07-02 13:00:25 -03:00
- Use `Pyroclasm` sideboard games to reset wide creature boards before committing expendable attackers or blockers. Hold low-toughness creatures back if sweeping next turn is likely, but accept trades that reduce damage below lethal or protect `Urza's Saga` from being raced. Against large-creature decks, shift away from sweep planning and toward Asmo Food removal plus Construct combat.
- Race combo and control with Saga Constructs, Inti pressure, and Blast reach when interaction is limited. Defend against creature decks by trading earlier, preserving Food removal, and letting engines take over after the board is stable. In artifact mirrors, protect artifact count and avoid combat lines that turn off `Mox Opal`, shrink Constructs, or downgrade `Galvanic Blast` at the moment interaction matters.
2026-06-14 15:24:54 -03:00
## Selection And Tutor Rules
- Treat `Urza's Saga` as the deck's cleanest tutor, and plan its third chapter before the second chapter forces a choice. Find `The Underworld Cookbook` when `Ovalchase Daredevil`, discard payoff cards, or `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar` need engine access; find `Mox Opal` when mana acceleration or metalcraft unlocks the turn; find `Relic of Progenitus` when graveyard pressure is visible; find `Vexing Bauble` only when its text is relevant or the hand needs artifact count plus a later card. Do not let a Saga chapter resolve without checking whether floating mana, Construct creation, or land sequencing should happen first.
- Use `Faithless Looting` to assemble discard engines rather than to churn blindly. Prioritize discarding `Ovalchase Daredevil` when Food creation or `The Underworld Cookbook` will return it, extra legendary copies of `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar` or `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun` when one is already active, and excess lands when land drops are secured. Avoid discarding the only engine piece, the only red source, or the only answer to a visible threat unless the replacement cards are necessary to avoid losing.
2026-07-02 13:00:25 -03:00
- Sequence `The Underworld Cookbook` activations around the card you most want to discard. If `Ovalchase Daredevil` is in hand, discard it before creating Food when the recursion trigger or Cookbook return line is available. If `Monument to Endurance`, `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, `Artist's Talent`, or `Hardened Academic` offers visible discard-related value, use the discard only when the legal trigger or replacement output shown by Forge advances the current plan more than holding the card.
- Delay fetch-land cracking when deck thinning or color fixing is not immediately needed and the hand may draw or loot into better land-use information. Crack `Arid Mesa`, `Bloodstained Mire`, or `Wooded Foothills` before a selection effect only when the needed source is already known, life total allows it, or shuffling away known unwanted cards matters. Prefer preserving life against fast pressure unless untapped red or white mana is required this turn.
- Time `Relic of Progenitus` card draw as selection plus graveyard action, not as a default cantrip. Use the single-card exile mode first when it disrupts the opponent while preserving your own `Ovalchase Daredevil` loop. Sacrifice Relic to draw when the graveyard must be cleared, when digging for a specific answer is urgent, or when artifact count loss will not collapse `Mox Opal`, `Galvanic Blast`, or `Urza's Saga` Construct math.
- Treat `Vexing Bauble` and `Artist's Talent` as conditional selection pieces until their exact legal text is surfaced. Card text check required for both cards. If Forge presents a draw, discard, level, or activation choice, choose it only after checking whether the static or engine role is still needed on board.
2026-06-14 15:24:54 -03:00
## Priority And Stack Rules
- Pass priority when no visible action changes the current exchange, but stop passing when the opponent presents a creature, graveyard, free-spell, or lethal-pressure line that your artifacts can answer. The decision agent must choose only from Forge-listed legal actions; do not assume a `Galvanic Blast`, Food removal, Relic activation, or Bauble activation is available until it appears.
- Use `Galvanic Blast` at instant speed on must-answer creatures before they create value, attack for lethal, enable combo, or remove the engine. Check metalcraft at the moment of casting because sacrificing `Relic of Progenitus`, `Vexing Bauble`, Food, or losing an `Urza's Saga` can reduce damage. Send Blast to the opponent only when it creates lethal, protects a two-turn clock, or no board target matters.
- Activate `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar` Food removal during the latest safe window. Let the opponent commit attackers, blocks, pump, equipment, or sacrifice costs when waiting improves information, but act before damage or before a key creature ability resolves if the creature must die to prevent the outcome. Preserve Food if the target is replaceable and the Food is needed for a stronger later removal line, metalcraft, Construct sizing, or survival life gain.
- Activate `The Underworld Cookbook` before discard payoffs or Food needs expire. If the Cookbook is untapped and the hand contains `Ovalchase Daredevil`, use the discard-Food loop when it enables Asmo removal, artifact count, or engine triggers. Do not tap Cookbook casually before combat if a surprise Food may be needed to remove an attacker or enable life gain.
- Use `Relic of Progenitus` in response to graveyard-targeting spells, recursion triggers, escape-like costs, reanimation, delirium-style thresholds, or visible graveyard payoffs. Prefer exiling the targeted or most enabling card when one-card exile is enough. Use the full graveyard exile only when partial disruption fails or drawing into an answer is worth breaking your own `Ovalchase Daredevil` recursion.
- Respect optional payments and triggered abilities from `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, `Monument to Endurance`, `Artist's Talent`, and `Hardened Academic` only as Forge presents them. Card text check required for exact trigger timing on the newer engine pieces. Decline optional value when paying mana, discarding a card, sacrificing an artifact, or spending Food would stop removal, Saga development, a protected `Mox Opal` turn, or lethal pressure.
- Use combat priority windows to convert engine resources into tempo. After attackers, remove the creature that produces the most damage or invalidates blocks; after blockers, remove a blocker only if it preserves a key attacker, forces lethal, or prevents a disastrous trade. Between first-strike and regular damage, act only on legal prompts and visible damage math.
- Let opposing spells resolve when your available interaction is poorly matched or needed for a higher-impact permanent. Hold `Wear // Tear`, `Prismatic Ending`, `Pithing Needle`, `Drannith Magistrate`, `Pyroclasm`, `Obsidian Charmaw`, and sideboard `Vexing Bauble` decisions for their matchup roles after sideboarding rather than spending them on the first legal target unless the target blocks your engine or threatens immediate loss.
2026-06-14 15:24:54 -03:00
## Sideboard Map
2026-07-02 13:00:25 -03:00
- Role rule: Sideboarding should preserve the Asmo Food engine unless the matchup makes a maindeck artifact or discard payoff clearly low-impact. Keep enough cheap artifacts for `Mox Opal`, `Urza's Saga` Constructs, `Galvanic Blast` metalcraft, and Food removal lines; do not overload on reactive cards if it leaves hands unable to cast `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, enable `The Underworld Cookbook`, or advance the named clock.
- `Relic of Progenitus`: Add against graveyard combo, recursion, delirium-style threats, escape-like threats, reanimation, and decks where exiling one card each turn meaningfully slows their engine. It is weaker when the opponent uses the graveyard only incidentally and your own `Ovalchase Daredevil` recursion is the stronger engine. Its role changes from maindeck cantrip artifact to high-priority disruption when the opposing graveyard is a visible resource; protect the one-card exile mode when it can disrupt while preserving your own graveyard loop.
- `Pithing Needle`: Add against decks centered on one activated permanent, planeswalker, artifact engine, land ability, equipment ability, or creature ability that Forge exposes by name. It is bad when the opponent presents mostly spells, triggered abilities, or many redundant activated threats. Use it as a narrow lock piece: name only a card that is visible, known from public information, or matchup-certain enough for the registered guide; do not guess hidden hand contents at runtime.
- `Wear // Tear`: Add against artifact or enchantment decks where one target can break mana, stop a hate permanent, remove a prison piece, or clear a card that prevents the Food engine from functioning. It is weaker against creature-only pressure and spell combo with few legal targets. Its role changes from answer to tempo when both halves are legal and Forge offers a fused line; take the higher-impact legal mode, not the mode with the most text.
- `Drannith Magistrate`: Add against cascade, discover-like casting, graveyard casting, exile-cast engines, suspend-style threats, and combo decks relying on casting from zones other than hand. It is bad against removal-heavy fair creature decks when it neither blocks profitably nor shuts off a visible plan. Use it as a lock creature, not as a generic two-drop; protect it with sequencing only when the matchup hinges on its static ability.
2026-07-02 13:00:25 -03:00
- `Prismatic Ending`: Add against low-mana permanents that must be answered cleanly, especially hate artifacts, hate enchantments, low-toughness creatures, and low-mana engines that dodge `Galvanic Blast` timing. It is weaker when the deck cannot produce the needed colors or when threats cost more than the available color count. Treat `Sacred Foundry`, `Plains`, `Elegant Parlor`, and fetch lands as the white access base; do not assume a color is available until Forge shows the mana payment.
- `Obsidian Charmaw`: Add against decks with important nonbasic lands, land engines, greedy mana, and big-mana plans where destroying a land changes the clock. It is bad against basic-heavy aggro or matchups where six mana is unrealistic and the cost reduction is not active. Its role changes from land disruption to large attacker only after the land-destruction text has resolved or is not relevant; do not keep slow hands relying on it unless the matchup rewards the effect.
- `Vexing Bauble`: Add against free-spell, cascade, pitch-spell, zero-mana, or no-mana-paid strategies where its static text will be relevant. It is weaker against fair decks paying mana for almost every spell and when additional copies only add artifact count. Use it as both interaction and Saga-searchable artifact density; sacrifice or cash it in only when Forge presents a legal draw action and the static text is no longer protecting the game state.
- `Pyroclasm`: Add against creature-wide decks, small utility creatures, token pressure, and low-toughness aggro where two damage sweeps multiple opposing creatures. It is bad when your own board contains the only important creatures, when the opponent presents large threats, or when `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar` plus Food already answers the relevant creature. Its role changes from stabilizer to reset button; sequence Food, `The Underworld Cookbook`, and artifact development so the sweep does not strand the engine.
Balanced anti-graveyard / recursion plan
Side in: 2 Relic of Progenitus; 1 Pithing Needle; 2 Prismatic Ending
Cut: 2 Vexing Bauble; 2 Artist's Talent; 1 Hardened Academic
2026-07-02 13:00:25 -03:00
- Plan rule: Use this plan when the opponents graveyard, low-mana permanents, or single activated engine matters more than stopping no-mana spells. `Relic of Progenitus` is the key role card; `Pithing Needle` answers the repeatable engine if one is known; `Prismatic Ending` handles early permanents that `Galvanic Blast` should not spend on. Reduced maindeck emphasis goes to conditional value cards and main `Vexing Bauble` when its static text has no target.
Balanced small-creature pressure plan
Side in: 2 Pyroclasm; 2 Prismatic Ending
Cut: 2 Vexing Bauble; 2 Artist's Talent
2026-07-02 13:00:25 -03:00
- Plan rule: Use this plan against decks trying to win through multiple low-toughness creatures before the Food engine stabilizes. `Pyroclasm` buys time, `Prismatic Ending` answers the creature or hate permanent that survives normal damage lines, and the maindeck keeps `Galvanic Blast`, `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, Food, and `Urza's Saga` pressure intact. Avoid this plan when the opponents main threats survive two damage and the game is about graveyard or spell-stack interaction.
Balanced artifact/enchantment pressure plan
Side in: 2 Wear // Tear; 2 Prismatic Ending; 1 Pithing Needle
Cut: 2 Relic of Progenitus; 2 Artist's Talent; 1 Hardened Academic
2026-07-02 13:00:25 -03:00
- Plan rule: Use this plan when opposing permanents attack the Food engine, artifact count, combat plan, or mana development. `Wear // Tear` handles high-value artifact and enchantment targets, `Prismatic Ending` provides low-mana permanent coverage, and `Pithing Needle` stops a known activated card. Reduce graveyard emphasis only when the opposing graveyard is not central.
Balanced big-mana / nonbasic land plan
Side in: 2 Obsidian Charmaw; 1 Pithing Needle; 2 Vexing Bauble
Cut: 2 Relic of Progenitus; 2 Artist's Talent; 1 Hardened Academic
- Plan rule: Use this plan when nonbasic lands, land abilities, and no-mana spell turns define the opponents plan. `Obsidian Charmaw` should target the land that delays their next decisive turn; `Pithing Needle` should name the visible or known activated engine; extra `Vexing Bauble` is for no-mana spell pressure and cheap artifact density. Avoid this plan when the opponent is attacking mostly with basic-land aggro.
- Archetype rule: Against cascade or no-mana-spell combo, Add role cards: `Vexing Bauble`; `Drannith Magistrate`; `Pithing Needle` when a specific activated engine is known. Reduce main-deck emphasis: `Relic of Progenitus` if graveyards are not central, slower value enchantments, and excess legendary copies when the curve must stay low.
- Archetype rule: Against graveyard decks, Add role cards: `Relic of Progenitus`; `Prismatic Ending` for cheap enablers; `Pithing Needle` for known activated graveyard engines. Reduce main-deck emphasis: `Vexing Bauble` when no-mana spell text is irrelevant and slower discard payoffs if the game is about immediate graveyard containment.
2026-07-02 13:00:25 -03:00
- Archetype rule: Against fair midrange, Add role cards only for the threats actually shown: `Prismatic Ending` for low-mana permanents, `Wear // Tear` for artifact/enchantment pressure, and `Relic of Progenitus` when graveyards create value. Reduce main-deck emphasis carefully because the core Food loop, `Urza's Saga`, and `Galvanic Blast` are already strong attrition tools.
- Archetype rule: Against fast creature decks, Add role cards: `Pyroclasm`; `Prismatic Ending`; sometimes `Wear // Tear` if equipment or enchantments matter. Reduce main-deck emphasis: slow conditional engines and main `Vexing Bauble` when it does not stop their spells. Keep hands that cast early interaction and build Food; do not rely only on a future sweeper.
- Archetype rule: Against artifact or enchantment engines, Add role cards: `Wear // Tear`; `Prismatic Ending`; `Pithing Needle` when an activated permanent is central. Reduce main-deck emphasis: graveyard-only interaction unless public information shows graveyard reliance. Preserve `The Underworld Cookbook` and artifact density because racing with Constructs remains a valid plan.
- Archetype rule: Against big mana and land engines, Add role cards: `Obsidian Charmaw`; `Pithing Needle`; `Vexing Bauble` when no-mana spell turns are part of the opponents plan. Reduce main-deck emphasis: graveyard-only cards and slow value pieces. Prioritize hands with pressure plus disruption; land destruction alone is not a win condition.
2026-06-14 15:24:54 -03:00
## Matchup Guidance
- Aggro: Stabilize before racing; prioritize hands with `The Underworld Cookbook`, `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, `Galvanic Blast`, Food production, or fast `Urza's Saga` bodies over slow hands built only around discard-value permanents. Add role cards: `Pyroclasm`; `Prismatic Ending`; sometimes `Wear // Tear` when opposing artifacts or enchantments create repeat damage or combat pressure. Reduce main-deck emphasis: `Vexing Bauble` when the opponent pays mana for normal creature spells, slower `Artist's Talent` lines, and redundant engine pieces that do not affect the first three turns. Use `Relic of Progenitus` only when graveyard text matters or artifact count is important; do not spend mana cycling it while life total is under immediate pressure unless Forge shows no stabilizing action.
2026-07-02 13:00:25 -03:00
- Burn: Treat life total as the primary resource and Food as interaction, not just engine fuel. Keep hands that produce early Food, cast `Galvanic Blast`, or present `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar` with removal access; be skeptical of fetch-shock sequencing with `Bloodstained Mire`, `Wooded Foothills`, `Arid Mesa`, `Sacred Foundry`, and `Elegant Parlor` unless the color is needed now. Add role cards: `Prismatic Ending` for low-mana permanents and `Wear // Tear` only for visible artifact/enchantment pressure. Reduce main-deck emphasis: slow value permanents that cost tempo before gaining life or affecting the board. Use `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun` attacks only when the counter or discard trigger advances the race without exposing a needed blocker.
- Go-wide: Answer width before individual quality; `Pyroclasm` is the cleanest stabilizer when it kills multiple visible creatures, while `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar` plus Food is better against one important creature per turn. Add role cards: `Pyroclasm`; `Prismatic Ending`; `Wear // Tear` if tokens are backed by artifact or enchantment engines. Reduce main-deck emphasis: `Vexing Bauble`, slow `Artist's Talent`, and excess graveyard-only focus when the opponent is winning on board. Sequence `The Underworld Cookbook` before committing fragile creatures when possible, because repeated Food turns `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar` into a board-control plan.
- Single-threat decks: Preserve clean answers for the threat that matters, and avoid spending `Galvanic Blast` on low-impact creatures if a larger creature or protected permanent is likely from public information. Add role cards: `Prismatic Ending`; `Pithing Needle` for a known activated threat; `Wear // Tear` when the threat is an artifact or enchantment. Reduce main-deck emphasis: sweepers such as `Pyroclasm` unless they answer support creatures. `Urza's Saga` Constructs pressure single-threat opponents well, but do not expose the race plan if holding Food lets `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar` remove the only lethal attacker.
- Tempo: Fight over mana efficiency and board presence; keep hands that deploy `Mox Opal`, `The Underworld Cookbook`, `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, or `Urza's Saga` while holding cheap interaction. Add role cards: `Prismatic Ending`; `Vexing Bauble` when the opponent uses no-mana or alternate-cost interaction; `Relic of Progenitus` when graveyard threats or recursion are visible. Reduce main-deck emphasis: expensive or slow permanents that lose to bounce, counterspells, or early pressure. Prefer forcing action on the opponents turn only when Forge presents a legal instant-speed line that materially changes combat or removes a threat.
- Control: Build layered threats and avoid overcommitting into sweepers; `Urza's Saga`, `The Underworld Cookbook` plus `Ovalchase Daredevil`, `Monument to Endurance`, and recurring discard pressure are the core attrition plan. Add role cards: `Vexing Bauble` against free interaction or no-mana spells; `Pithing Needle` for known planeswalker or activated engines; `Wear // Tear` for lock pieces or artifact/enchantment answers. Reduce main-deck emphasis: `Pyroclasm` and narrow creature removal when the opponent has few targets. Use `Faithless Looting` to convert redundant legends and lands into pressure, but respect graveyard hate and do not assume discarded cards remain accessible.
2026-07-02 13:00:25 -03:00
- Removal-heavy midrange: Make every threat generate material before it dies; prioritize `The Underworld Cookbook`, `Ovalchase Daredevil`, `Urza's Saga`, and `Monument to Endurance` over creature-only lines. Add role cards: `Relic of Progenitus` when graveyards fuel their value; `Prismatic Ending` for low-mana permanent engines; `Wear // Tear` for artifact/enchantment attrition pieces. Reduce main-deck emphasis: `Pyroclasm` unless it kills multiple creatures and main `Vexing Bauble` when it has no text. Use `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun` as a threat when it immediately improves attacks or discard conversion, not as a naked creature into obvious removal with no follow-up.
2026-07-02 13:00:25 -03:00
- Generic midrange: Trade resources only when the engine remains ahead; `Ovalchase Daredevil` recurring through `The Underworld Cookbook` is more important than one-for-one removal when both players are exchanging cards. Add role cards: match only the visible axis, such as `Relic of Progenitus` for graveyards, `Wear // Tear` for artifacts/enchantments, or `Prismatic Ending` for low-mana permanents. Reduce main-deck emphasis: the narrow cards with no visible target, especially `Vexing Bauble` in normal fair games. Let `Urza's Saga` tutor for the artifact that fits the board instead of defaulting to more engine density.
- Combo: Identify the choke point before spending interaction; `Vexing Bauble`, `Drannith Magistrate`, `Relic of Progenitus`, `Pithing Needle`, and fast pressure each matter only against specific combo mechanisms. Add role cards: `Vexing Bauble` for no-mana or alternate-cast turns; `Drannith Magistrate` for cast-from-nonhand lines; `Relic of Progenitus` for graveyard combo; `Pithing Needle` for a known activated engine. Reduce main-deck emphasis: creature removal and slow value permanents that do not shorten the clock. Use `Galvanic Blast` as reach when racing, but hold it as disruption if public information shows a creature combo piece.
- Graveyard decks: Treat `Relic of Progenitus` as a timing-sensitive lock piece, not an automatic cantrip; activate it when it denies a visible payoff, shrinks a graveyard-dependent threat, or protects the next turn. Add role cards: `Relic of Progenitus`; `Prismatic Ending` for cheap enablers; `Pithing Needle` for visible activated graveyard engines. Reduce main-deck emphasis: `Vexing Bauble` when no-mana text is irrelevant and slow discard-value permanents when immediate containment is required. Keep `Faithless Looting` lines honest: discarding `Ovalchase Daredevil` is strong only if graveyard interaction does not immediately break the loop.
- Artifact/enchantment decks: Answer the permanent that changes the texture of the game, not the first target that appears. Add role cards: `Wear // Tear`; `Prismatic Ending`; `Pithing Needle` for known activated artifacts; `Vexing Bauble` if the opponent also relies on no-mana casting. Reduce main-deck emphasis: `Relic of Progenitus` unless the graveyard is part of the engine and slow creature-only pressure if the opponents permanents dominate combat. Preserve your own artifact count for `Mox Opal`, `Urza's Saga`, Constructs, and `Galvanic Blast` before sacrificing expendable artifacts.
- Big mana: Pressure plus disruption is mandatory; land disruption without a clock gives the opponent time to recover. Add role cards: `Obsidian Charmaw`; `Pithing Needle`; `Vexing Bauble` when public information shows no-mana spell turns; `Prismatic Ending` if cheap enablers matter. Reduce main-deck emphasis: graveyard-only cards and small sweepers. Use `Obsidian Charmaw` on the nonbasic land that delays the next decisive turn, and prefer `Urza's Saga` pressure when the opponents life total is the shortest route to victory.
- Unknown opponent: Keep the decks broadest engine intact until public information narrows the role. Favor opening hands with lands, artifact density, `The Underworld Cookbook`, `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, `Urza's Saga`, `Mox Opal`, and at least one interactive or filtering element. Do not overvalue `Vexing Bauble`, `Relic of Progenitus`, or `Pyroclasm` before their text is relevant, but do count them as artifacts for metalcraft, Saga pressure, and `Galvanic Blast` setup when the legal line needs artifact density.

## Specific Matchup Notes
- General/archetype-only note: revealed cards, legal actions, and public board state override these assumptions. Treat these notes as role priors until the opponent shows a concrete axis, then sideboard and priority decisions should follow the visible threat or engine rather than the archetype label.
- Fast creature decks: stabilize before maximizing engine value. Add role cards: `Pyroclasm`, `Prismatic Ending`, and sometimes `Wear // Tear` when the opposing pressure is artifact or enchantment based. Priority targets: creatures that threaten lethal next turn, creatures that invalidate blocking, and permanents that make `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar` Food removal insufficient. Preserve Food when a visible attacker can be killed by the three-Food ability, and use `Galvanic Blast` on life-total pressure only after survival is secured.
- Graveyard decks: make `Relic of Progenitus` answer the decisive graveyard moment instead of cycling it for convenience. Add role cards: the sideboard `Relic of Progenitus` copies and `Prismatic Ending` for cheap enablers. Priority targets: public graveyard payoffs, recursion engines, and permanents that turn the graveyard into immediate board presence. `Faithless Looting` and `Ovalchase Daredevil` remain strong only while the graveyard loop is not being shut off or raced.
- Artifact or enchantment engine decks: spend answers on the permanent that changes future turns, not the first legal target. Add role cards: `Wear // Tear`, `Prismatic Ending`, and `Pithing Needle` when a known activated ability is central. Priority targets: engines that outscale `Urza's Saga` Constructs, artifacts that prevent attacking or blocking profitably, and enchantments that stop `The Underworld Cookbook` or graveyard recursion from mattering. Keep enough artifacts for `Mox Opal`, `Galvanic Blast`, and Saga pressure before sacrificing disposable pieces.
- Control and removal-heavy midrange: force one-for-one answers to lose to recurring material. Add role cards: `Vexing Bauble` when no-mana interaction is visible, `Pithing Needle` for a known activated permanent, and `Wear // Tear` for lock or answer pieces. Priority targets: planeswalker-style engines, permanent-based card advantage, and removal shields that stop Constructs or `Monument to Endurance` from closing. Avoid loading the battlefield with redundant legends when `Faithless Looting` or `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun` can convert extra copies into pressure.
- Big mana and slow combo: present a clock while attacking the enabling axis. Add role cards: `Obsidian Charmaw`, `Vexing Bauble` when alternate or no-mana spells are shown, `Drannith Magistrate` when casting from outside hand is shown, and `Pithing Needle` for known activated engines. Priority targets: the land or permanent that enables the next decisive turn, not a marginal value piece. `Urza's Saga` plus `Mox Opal` can pressure quickly, but do not keep a hand that only disrupts without developing damage.
2026-07-02 13:00:25 -03:00
- Unknown opponent: keep the flexible core intact until public information narrows the plan. Favor `The Underworld Cookbook`, `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, `Ovalchase Daredevil`, `Urza's Saga`, `Mox Opal`, and `Galvanic Blast` over narrow post-board named cards whose text is not yet relevant. Add role cards only after the opponent reveals graveyard, no-mana, artifact/enchantment, cast-from-nonhand, wide-creature, or nonbasic-land dependence.
2026-06-14 15:24:54 -03:00
## Risk Summary
- Mana risk: the deck can draw powerful red-white cards without the right fetch, shock, channel, or artifact acceleration sequence. Do not assume `Mox Opal` is active unless metalcraft is visible, and do not spend artifacts casually when they enable `Mox Opal`, `Galvanic Blast`, `Urza's Saga` Constructs, or `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar` Food lines.
- Matchup risk: narrow cards are matchup-breaking only when their text is live. `Vexing Bauble`, `Relic of Progenitus`, `Pithing Needle`, `Drannith Magistrate`, `Obsidian Charmaw`, `Pyroclasm`, and `Wear // Tear` should follow revealed information, not generic fear of the opponents archetype.
- Draw risk: hands with only payoff permanents can fail before the engine turns on. Mulligan or sequence carefully when the hand lacks early artifacts, `The Underworld Cookbook`, discard outlets, `Faithless Looting`, `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, or a clear `Urza's Saga` plan.
- Over-sideboarding risk: cutting too much of the Food and artifact core weakens the reason the deck is coherent. Preserve enough `The Underworld Cookbook`, `Ovalchase Daredevil`, `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, `Mox Opal`, `Urza's Saga`, `Monument to Endurance`, and artifact count to keep removal, pressure, and recursion online.
- Graveyard risk: `Ovalchase Daredevil` and `Faithless Looting` lines become fragile when graveyard hate is public. Use discard for immediate value when possible, and do not plan future recursion through a visible graveyard lock unless the rules engine shows a legal answer.
- Sweeper/removal risk: creature pressure from `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, `Hardened Academic`, and `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar` can disappear to removal before generating value. Lead with artifacts and Saga pressure when removal is likely, and expose creatures when they unlock a legal attack, discard trigger, or Food removal turn.
- Closer risk: `Urza's Saga` Constructs and `Monument to Endurance` can be too slow if the opponent is assembling a faster endgame. Convert `Galvanic Blast` into reach only when lethal or tempo-positive, and keep Food removal available when surviving one more combat is the actual route to winning.
- Interaction risk: firing `Galvanic Blast`, `Prismatic Ending`, `Wear // Tear`, or `Pithing Needle` at a secondary target can leave the primary engine unanswered. Prefer the target that changes the next turn cycle, and defer when the legal action is optional but the visible threat is not yet decisive.
- Sequencing risk: `Faithless Looting`, `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, `Artist's Talent`, and `Hardened Academic` require card-text-aware decisions. Card text check required for exact trigger and level/ability sequencing; use these cards conditionally through visible legal actions and avoid inventing unavailable discard, draw, or damage outcomes.

## Test Feedback Checklist
- Deciding factor: identify whether the game was decided by early engine assembly, `Urza's Saga` pressure, `Galvanic Blast` reach, Food removal, graveyard disruption, sideboard hate, or failure to convert resources into damage.
- Mulligans: record whether the opener had a credible first-two-turn plan with lands, artifacts, `Mox Opal`, `The Underworld Cookbook`, `Faithless Looting`, `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, or `Urza's Saga`; flag keeps that needed multiple perfect draws.
- Mana: note every game where `Mox Opal` was inactive when needed, `Sacred Foundry` or `Elegant Parlor` sequencing delayed a spell, fetchland choices constrained white or red access, or `Sokenzan, Crucible of Defiance` was better as a land than a channel effect.
- Velocity: ask whether `Faithless Looting`, `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, `Artist's Talent`, `Hardened Academic`, and `Monument to Endurance` produced enough card flow or pressure before the opponents plan became decisive. Card text check required for exact trigger and ability evaluation.
- Engine quality: track whether `The Underworld Cookbook` plus `Ovalchase Daredevil` created repeated material, whether Food was saved for `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, and whether sacrificing artifacts weakened `Mox Opal`, `Galvanic Blast`, or `Urza's Saga` Constructs.
- Removal timing: review every `Galvanic Blast`, `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, `Prismatic Ending`, `Wear // Tear`, and `Pyroclasm` use for whether it answered the threat that mattered over the next turn cycle.
- Sideboard accuracy: check whether `Relic of Progenitus`, `Pithing Needle`, `Vexing Bauble`, `Drannith Magistrate`, `Obsidian Charmaw`, `Pyroclasm`, `Prismatic Ending`, and `Wear // Tear` were live against visible public information or stranded by matchup misread.
- Closing: record whether wins came from `Urza's Saga` Constructs, repeated `Monument to Endurance` pressure, creature combat, `Galvanic Blast` reach, or opponent resource collapse; flag games where the deck stabilized but failed to end the game.
- Role: ask whether the pilot correctly shifted between engine midrange, artifact beatdown, graveyard-control, and disruption-plus-clock, especially after sideboarding.
- Mistakes: identify missed land drops, premature Food use, unnecessary legend exposure, low-impact `Relic of Progenitus` activation, wrong `Pithing Needle` name, and attacks that exposed needed blockers.
2026-07-02 13:00:25 -03:00
- Stranded cards: log cards that stayed uncast or low-impact in hand for three or more turns, especially duplicate `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, inactive `Mox Opal`, narrow `Vexing Bauble`, expensive post-board named cards, or unenabled synergy pieces.
- Overperformers and underperformers: compare card impact by game state, not only by final result; a card overperformed if it changed legal choices or forced the opponent off a plan, and underperformed if it was available but did not affect survival, engine velocity, or closing speed.

## First Tuning Questions
- Quantity question: are four `Monument to Endurance`, four `Hardened Academic`, two `Artist's Talent`, and four `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun` producing complementary velocity, or are too many nonartifact/non-Food engines competing for the same early turns?
- Core question: does the deck need all four `Ovalchase Daredevil` with only four `The Underworld Cookbook`, or did extra copies create enough discard value with `Faithless Looting`, `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, and other visible loot effects to justify the count?
- Mana question: did the fetch-shock-triome mix of `Bloodstained Mire`, `Wooded Foothills`, `Arid Mesa`, `Sacred Foundry`, `Elegant Parlor`, `Mountain`, `Plains`, and `Sokenzan, Crucible of Defiance` reliably cast early red spells while preserving white sideboard access?
- Artifact-count question: did `Mox Opal`, `Urza's Saga`, `Galvanic Blast`, and `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar` ask for more cheap artifacts, or were `Relic of Progenitus`, `Vexing Bauble`, `The Underworld Cookbook`, Food tokens, and Saga artifacts enough in practice?
- Aggro-plan question: when pressured early, did the deck stabilize through `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, Food, `Galvanic Blast`, and sideboard `Pyroclasm`, or did it need more cheap removal such as additional `Prismatic Ending`-style effects?
- Control-plan question: against removal and sweepers, did recursive artifacts, `Urza's Saga`, `Monument to Endurance`, and discard velocity beat one-for-one interaction, or did the deck lack a resilient closer?
- Combo-plan question: against faster linear decks, did `Vexing Bauble`, `Relic of Progenitus`, `Drannith Magistrate`, `Pithing Needle`, and `Obsidian Charmaw` buy enough time while still presenting damage?
- Closer question: did games end cleanly once control was established, or should the list shift toward cards that increase damage output from `Urza's Saga`, `Galvanic Blast`, `Sokenzan, Crucible of Defiance`, or repeatable engine pressure?
- Sideboard-slot question: were two extra `Relic of Progenitus`, two extra `Vexing Bauble`, two `Drannith Magistrate`, and two `Obsidian Charmaw` all needed, or did some narrow hate overlap too much while creature matchups demanded more `Pyroclasm` or `Prismatic Ending` effects?
- Role-conflict question: did graveyard hate from `Relic of Progenitus` interfere with `Ovalchase Daredevil` and `Faithless Looting` often enough to change main-deck or sideboard quantities?
- Sequencing question: did the pilot lose value by choosing between `Urza's Saga` development, `The Underworld Cookbook` setup, and early creature deployment incorrectly, or is the deck itself overloaded at the two-turn setup window?
- Legality and text question: confirm exact current Oracle text for `Artist's Talent`, `Monument to Endurance`, `Hardened Academic`, and any newly printed card before changing quantities based on assumed triggers or static abilities.
## Veles Tactical Policy
### Policy: Opening Hand Engine Gate
Priority: High
Decision families: mulligan
Cards: The Underworld Cookbook; Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar; Ovalchase Daredevil; Urza's Saga; Mox Opal; Faithless Looting; Inti, Seneschal of the Sun
Phase windows: opening hand, mulligan decisions
Runtime cues: prompt:mulligan; visible opening hand
Use when: evaluating keep or mulligan before game actions begin.
Avoid when: the engine reports a forced keep, forced mulligan, or sideboard-only pregame choice.
Instructions: Keep hands with lands plus a first-two-turn artifact or discard engine, especially `The Underworld Cookbook`, `Urza's Saga`, or castable `Faithless Looting`; mulligan hands with no functional mana, no early play, or multiple synergy cards that cannot be cast or enabled. Treat `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar` as enabled only when a discard outlet, `The Underworld Cookbook`, or another legal setup path is visible.
Pilot skill floor: medium
No-API allowed: no
Light-model allowed: yes
### Policy: First Engine Permanent
Priority: Medium
Decision families: priority; mana
Cards: The Underworld Cookbook; Urza's Saga; Mox Opal; Relic of Progenitus; Vexing Bauble
Phase windows: turns 1-2 main phases
Runtime cues: action:cast The Underworld Cookbook; action:play Urza's Saga; action:cast Mox Opal
Use when: choosing the first permanent that enables artifacts, Food, discard, or Saga pressure.
Avoid when: lethal pressure or a required answer is already visible.
Instructions: Lead on `Urza's Saga` when it will develop without blocking immediate red interaction; lead on `The Underworld Cookbook` when `Ovalchase Daredevil`, `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar`, or repeated discard value is visible; deploy zero- and one-mana artifacts to enable `Mox Opal` and `Galvanic Blast` only when doing so does not sacrifice a needed hate effect timing.
Pilot skill floor: low
No-API allowed: no
Light-model allowed: yes
### Policy: Deterministic Cookbook Cast
Priority: Low
Decision families: priority
Cards: The Underworld Cookbook
Phase windows: own main phase
Runtime cues: action:cast The Underworld Cookbook
Use when: the only nonland legal action containing `cast The Underworld Cookbook` is available, at least one untapped land or legal mana source pays for it, and no opposing spell or ability is on the stack.
Avoid when: another legal action answers a visible opposing permanent or the stack is not empty.
Instructions: Cast `The Underworld Cookbook` as the engine enabler and preserve later Food choices for Veles prompts.
Pilot skill floor: low
No-API allowed: yes
Light-model allowed: yes
### Policy: Asmo Commitment Gate
Priority: High
Decision families: priority; mana
Cards: Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar; The Underworld Cookbook; Ovalchase Daredevil; Faithless Looting; Inti, Seneschal of the Sun
Phase windows: own main phase, post-discard windows
Runtime cues: action:cast Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar
Use when: deciding whether to commit `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar` after the engine reports it as legal.
Avoid when: the only visible role for `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar` is as a fragile body and no Food or follow-up pressure is available.
Instructions: Commit `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar` when it converts visible Food into removal, adds pressure before the opponent stabilizes, or turns on a Cookbook package. Delay if visible removal, poor Food count, or stronger Saga/artifact development makes the legend low impact.
Pilot skill floor: high
No-API allowed: no
Light-model allowed: yes
### Policy: Cookbook Discard Target
Priority: Medium
Decision families: selection
Cards: The Underworld Cookbook; Ovalchase Daredevil; Faithless Looting; Inti, Seneschal of the Sun; Monument to Endurance
Phase windows: discard-cost prompts, activated ability prompts
Runtime cues: action:discard Ovalchase Daredevil
Use when: a legal discard choice names `Ovalchase Daredevil` and the prompt is paying a discard cost or resolving a discard selection from a visible loot/cookbook effect.
Avoid when: `Ovalchase Daredevil` is needed as the only castable blocker or the engine exposes a mandatory different discard.
Instructions: Prefer discarding `Ovalchase Daredevil` to fuel Food recursion and artifact count; use other excess legends, redundant lands, or narrow hate only after checking current hand, graveyard, and pressure. Card text check required for exact `Monument to Endurance`, `Hardened Academic`, and `Artist's Talent` discard-trigger timing.
Pilot skill floor: medium
No-API allowed: no
Light-model allowed: yes
### Policy: Deterministic Ovalchase Discard
Priority: Low
Decision families: selection
Cards: Ovalchase Daredevil
Phase windows: discard selection prompts
Runtime cues: action:discard Ovalchase Daredevil
Use when: exactly one legal action contains `discard Ovalchase Daredevil` and the prompt requires choosing one card to discard.
Avoid when: more than one legal discard action is available.
Instructions: Select the visible `Ovalchase Daredevil` discard action.
Pilot skill floor: low
No-API allowed: yes
Light-model allowed: yes
### Policy: Food Removal Gate
Priority: High
Decision families: interaction; priority
Cards: Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar; The Underworld Cookbook
Phase windows: opponent combat, opponent main phase, own main phase before attacks
Runtime cues: action:activate Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar; action:sacrifice Food
Use when: choosing whether to spend Food or artifacts through `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar` on a visible creature.
Avoid when: the target is not visible, the engine does not present a legal target, or sacrificing artifacts turns off required `Mox Opal` mana this turn.
Instructions: Use Food removal on creatures that threaten lethal, invalidate attacks, shut off the engine, or outscale Saga Constructs. Preserve Food when the board is stable and the Food is needed for later Cookbook recursion, metalcraft, or life-buffer choices.
Pilot skill floor: high
No-API allowed: no
Light-model allowed: yes
### Policy: Galvanic Blast Allocation
Priority: High
Decision families: interaction; priority
Cards: Galvanic Blast; Mox Opal; Urza's Saga
Phase windows: any priority window, combat damage setup, end step, lethal check
Runtime cues: action:cast Galvanic Blast; action:target opponent Galvanic Blast; action:target creature Galvanic Blast
Use when: deciding whether `Galvanic Blast` should remove a visible permanent or go to the opponent.
Avoid when: damage amount, metalcraft status, prevention, or target legality is uncertain from visible state.
Instructions: Point `Galvanic Blast` at lethal opponent damage when the engine exposes legal face targeting and visible life totals confirm the kill; otherwise prioritize creatures or planeswalkers that will decide the next turn cycle. Check artifact count before assuming enhanced damage.
Pilot skill floor: high
No-API allowed: no
Light-model allowed: yes
### Policy: Exact Blast Lethal Target
Priority: High
Decision families: interaction
Cards: Galvanic Blast
Phase windows: any priority window
Runtime cues: action:target opponent Galvanic Blast
Use when: exactly one legal action contains `target opponent Galvanic Blast`, the opponent life total shown by Veles is less than or equal to the damage shown or implied by the legal action text, and no other choices are pending.
Avoid when: the stack contains a visible prevention, redirection, tax, or counter effect.
Instructions: Choose the opponent target action and let Forge validate damage and resolution.
Pilot skill floor: low
No-API allowed: yes
Light-model allowed: yes
### Policy: Urza's Saga Chapter And Tutor
Priority: Medium
Decision families: selection; mana; priority
Cards: Urza's Saga; The Underworld Cookbook; Mox Opal; Relic of Progenitus; Vexing Bauble; Pithing Needle
Phase windows: upkeep, main phase, Saga chapter trigger resolution
Runtime cues: action:search; action:choose artifact; action:create Construct
Use when: resolving `Urza's Saga` choices or deciding whether to spend mana on Constructs.
Avoid when: the engine has not exposed exact legal artifact choices.
Instructions: Make Constructs when they pressure life totals or block profitably without losing a required spell. For tutor choices, route through light reasoning: `The Underworld Cookbook` is the default engine piece, `Mox Opal` fixes explosive turns, `Relic of Progenitus`, `Vexing Bauble`, or `Pithing Needle` are selected when their visible hate text matters.
Pilot skill floor: medium
No-API allowed: no
Light-model allowed: yes
### Policy: Mox Opal Metalcraft Mana
Priority: Medium
Decision families: mana
Cards: Mox Opal; Relic of Progenitus; Vexing Bauble; The Underworld Cookbook; Urza's Saga
Phase windows: mana payment prompts, own main phase, interaction windows
Runtime cues: action:tap Mox Opal; action:add mana
Use when: paying for a spell or ability with visible artifacts on battlefield.
Avoid when: sacrificing or tapping artifacts would remove a required activation, hate effect, or blocker from the current line.
2026-07-02 13:00:25 -03:00
Instructions: Use `Mox Opal` to preserve land flexibility and cast multiple spells, but do not spend artifacts or Food in a way that turns off metalcraft before payment. Choose colors based on the current legal cost, with white prioritized only for visible post-board named spells.
Pilot skill floor: medium
No-API allowed: no
Light-model allowed: yes
### Policy: Fetchland Color Discipline
Priority: Medium
Decision families: mana
Cards: Bloodstained Mire; Wooded Foothills; Arid Mesa; Sacred Foundry; Elegant Parlor; Mountain; Plains
Phase windows: land play, fetch activation, mana setup before spell casting
Runtime cues: action:activate Bloodstained Mire; action:activate Wooded Foothills; action:activate Arid Mesa; action:search library
Use when: choosing a land from a fetchland or sequencing land drops.
Avoid when: exact searchable land legality is not exposed by Forge.
2026-07-02 13:00:25 -03:00
Instructions: Secure red early for `Faithless Looting`, `Galvanic Blast`, `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun`, and artifact setup; secure white when post-board named cards are visible or already in hand. Prefer untapped red when tempo matters and tapped `Elegant Parlor` when the turn has no immediate red one-mana action.
Pilot skill floor: medium
No-API allowed: no
Light-model allowed: yes
### Policy: Looting And Exile-Velocity Gate
Priority: Medium
Decision families: selection; priority
Cards: Faithless Looting; Inti, Seneschal of the Sun; Artist's Talent; Hardened Academic; Monument to Endurance; Ovalchase Daredevil
Phase windows: own main phase, attack trigger prompts, draw/discard resolution
Runtime cues: action:cast Faithless Looting; action:discard; action:exile
Use when: deciding whether to spend mana or cards on velocity engines.
Avoid when: the board requires immediate removal, a hate permanent, or blocking mana.
Instructions: Use velocity to find Cookbook, Saga, removal, or mana when the hand is redundant or missing a role. Prefer discards that preserve castable interaction and enable `Ovalchase Daredevil`. Card text check required for exact `Artist's Talent`, `Hardened Academic`, `Monument to Endurance`, and `Inti, Seneschal of the Sun` trigger choices.
Pilot skill floor: medium
No-API allowed: no
Light-model allowed: yes
### Policy: Relic Graveyard Timing
Priority: Medium
Decision families: interaction; priority
Cards: Relic of Progenitus; Ovalchase Daredevil; Faithless Looting
Phase windows: opponent graveyard setup, response windows, end step
Runtime cues: action:activate Relic of Progenitus; action:exile graveyard; action:exile card from graveyard
Use when: deciding whether to activate `Relic of Progenitus` or preserve graveyards.
Avoid when: exiling own graveyard would remove a visible `Ovalchase Daredevil` loop or flashback option without disrupting the opponent.
Instructions: Use small Relic activations to pressure graveyard decks while preserving your own recursion when possible. Use full exile when an opponent graveyard action is pending, lethal recursion is visible, or delaying gives the opponent a clear window.
Pilot skill floor: medium
No-API allowed: no
Light-model allowed: yes
### Policy: Vexing Bauble And Spell-Tax Hate
Priority: Medium
Decision families: interaction; priority
Cards: Vexing Bauble; Drannith Magistrate
Phase windows: pre-combo setup, opponent priority windows, own main phase before passing
Runtime cues: action:cast Vexing Bauble; action:activate Vexing Bauble; action:cast Drannith Magistrate
Use when: the opponent's visible deck, revealed cards, or public actions indicate free spells, non-hand casting, cascade-style pressure, or suspended/exiled casting.
Avoid when: the hate text is not relevant to visible or matchup-known actions and deploying it delays engine assembly under pressure.
Instructions: Deploy hate before the opponent's critical turn when it does not cost a necessary removal window. Do not cash in `Vexing Bauble` unless the engine presents a legal activation and the card is no longer constraining a visible opposing line.
Pilot skill floor: medium
No-API allowed: no
Light-model allowed: yes
### Policy: Sideboard Plan Gate
Priority: High
Decision families: sideboard
Cards: Relic of Progenitus; Pithing Needle; Wear // Tear; Drannith Magistrate; Prismatic Ending; Obsidian Charmaw; Vexing Bauble; Pyroclasm
Phase windows: between games
Runtime cues: prompt:sideboard; match_stage:postboard
Use when: selecting a sideboard configuration after seeing opponent archetype, public cards, and game result.
Avoid when: the engine is requesting in-game actions rather than sideboarding.
2026-07-02 13:00:25 -03:00
Instructions: Add `Relic of Progenitus` for graveyard reliance, `Vexing Bauble` and `Drannith Magistrate` for non-hand or free-spell plans, `Wear // Tear` and `Prismatic Ending` for artifacts/enchantments or low-mana permanents, `Pyroclasm` for small-creature boards, `Obsidian Charmaw` for greedy mana. Reduce narrow main-deck hate, slow velocity, or fragile threats according to matchup speed.
Pilot skill floor: high
No-API allowed: no
Light-model allowed: yes
### Policy: Combat Pressure And Construct Math
Priority: Medium
Decision families: combat
Cards: Urza's Saga; Inti, Seneschal of the Sun; Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar; Ovalchase Daredevil; Sokenzan, Crucible of Defiance
Phase windows: declare attackers, declare blockers, before combat damage
Runtime cues: action:attack; action:block; action:activate Sokenzan, Crucible of Defiance
Use when: choosing attacks, blocks, or whether to hold creatures back.
Avoid when: exactly lethal is available through a deterministic legal action that another policy covers.
Instructions: Attack when pressure advances a two-turn clock without exposing the only blocker needed for survival. Keep `Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar` alive when Food removal matters more than combat damage. Treat Saga Constructs as primary closers and check artifact count before attacking into trades.
Pilot skill floor: medium
No-API allowed: no
Light-model allowed: yes
### Policy: Sweeper And Cheap Removal Survival
Priority: High
Decision families: interaction; priority
Cards: Pyroclasm; Prismatic Ending; Wear // Tear; Galvanic Blast; Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar
Phase windows: own main phase, opponent combat, response windows
Runtime cues: action:cast Pyroclasm; action:cast Prismatic Ending; action:cast Wear // Tear; action:cast Galvanic Blast
Use when: visible opposing permanents threaten lethal, lock the engine, or make the next combat unwinnable.
Avoid when: removal would destroy more of your decisive board than the opponent's or the target type is not legal.
Instructions: Spend sideboard removal on the permanent that changes the next turn cycle, not the first legal target. `Pyroclasm` is survival-first; `Prismatic Ending` and `Wear // Tear` answer hate or cheap engines; `Galvanic Blast` can bridge either removal or reach depending on life totals.
Pilot skill floor: high
No-API allowed: no
Light-model allowed: yes
### Policy: Pithing Needle Naming
Priority: Medium
Decision families: selection; interaction
Cards: Pithing Needle
Phase windows: cast resolution, Saga tutor follow-up, sideboard games
Runtime cues: action:name; action:choose card name; source:Pithing Needle
Use when: `Pithing Needle` asks for a card name.
Avoid when: no opposing activated ability card is known from public zones, revealed information, or matchup context.
Instructions: Name the visible or matchup-confirmed activated-ability card that most constrains the current game. Do not name a card from hidden information unless Veles has logged it as revealed or known.
Pilot skill floor: high
No-API allowed: no
Light-model allowed: yes
### Policy: Tap-Out For Engine Payoff
Priority: High
Decision families: priority; mana
